does it also work with s-on?
i guess
but i didn't tried it
but u don't need it because if you are having s-on you only can get 2.3.3 by using goldcard method which will flash the radio too
and how about an ota update? the ota does flash the radio either, or does it?
to put it in a nutshell i am going to s-off my phone this afternoon, so i need to know how to flash the newest CustomRom wich actually is the 2.3.3 rom correctly on my incS. so i need to flash this radio first?
doesn't matter what order you flash them in, I did ROM first then radio

thx my prophet
so
s-off -> rom and radio -> finish?! or did i miss something?
(BTW l0st.prophet your rom is already rootet, so if i flashed your rom on my incS i didnt need to flash or install anything else to finish, or do i?)
Best order is:
- S-OFF
- Root via SuperOneClick (psneuter)
- Install RonManager from the market and install clockworkmod
- Boot into recovery and install rom
- Reboot into HBoot and install radio
Iam sorry, but i really cant find the superonclick root by psneuter... Could you be so Kind, to Post the Link. Iam on the go...
Thx a lot!!

So,
My HTC Incredible S is rooted, and the bootloader is unlocked (what the point of unlocking the bootloader is I still don't know as I can't install custom ROMS... but back to the point at hand...), and the OTA update to 2.3.5 arrived 2 weeks ago.
Needless to say, the update would not install. Despite researching the issue, I'm still confused as to what exactly is preventing the update from working. Is the the fact that my device is rooted? Or is it the unlocked bootloader? I tried relocking the bootloader and that had no effect, so I'm assuming rooted devices for some reason are rejected by the update.
So considering I can't install custom ROMs (I'm HBOOT 1.16 and the downgrade guide didn't work for me, so no s-off), and I now can't upgrade officially, I'm feeling a little stuck.
Is there a way to force an official update to install on a phone in my 'condition'?
Note: My recovery is custom - Revolutionary CWM - and I can't find (and therefore cannot flash) an original recovery image... would this affect the updating process?
Thanks guys/gals,
G
Root won't stop an ota but an unlocked bootloader will. You can check in your boot screen if its still unlocked or if its relocked.

You need to replace CWM with the standard HTC recovery (you simply need to extract the recovery.img file from a RUU/ROM.zip file) and then relock the bootloader before the OTA will install correctly.
At hboot 1.16 and rooted all you should have to do is install Cwm and than you can flash custom ROM's..... Not sure what your problem is.

@itsbeertimenow - yeah, unlocking the bootloader never did anything for me in terms of being able to flash custom ROMs... I guess 's-off' is required
@tpbklake, nonverbose
Yeah, I had a feeling the custom recovery had something to do with it. As I mentioned before, even relocking the bootloader had no effect.
Does the recovery have to be a specific version? I'm running Android 2.3.3, so will any 2.3.3 recovery work or does it have to be a recovery for an HTC Incredible S running Android 2.3.3 - that's a little harder to find. Any suggestions for an ruu/zip file to extract a recovery img from?
Thanks again for the helpful responses.

Instead of trying to install the OTA update for Sense 3/2.3.5 why don't you flash the stock, rooted version of 2.3.5/Sense 3 ROM that I posted in the Dev section. With the unlocked bootloader and CWM you can flash this ROM and then manually flash the boot.img in that ROM's zip file and you should be good to go.
@tpbklake
I think I'd already tried that and the update process aborted pretty early on. I'll give it another go and check out troubleshooting threads related to the process. thanks again.

Here is the 2.3.5/Sense 3.0 stock, rooted ROM built directly from the OTA you were trying to install. You would flash it in CWM just like you did for CM7.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1430535
Thanks for the link, will come in handy when I want to go back to a 'stock' setup... wasn't very impressed with CM7 so I then tried the Virtuous Affinity ROM (2.3.5/S3.5) - fantastic. Thanks again for your help!

Good day to all!
Sorry for this question, I know it is asked and discussed a lot.. BUT!
I have searched and searched over google and XDA and can't find it no where.
All the links are out-dated and on some forums they write that HTC Runnymede is the official stock rom and on others they say HTC pyramide is the stock rom.
So I am very confused now and besides being confused, I can't find any working link for downloading the HTC Sensation XL stock Europe rom.
I need to unroot my device so I really need the rom fast.
I already 'relocked bootloader', only need the RUU.exe to unroot and install stock rom.
Please help me out.

PS. This one http://www.filefactory.com/f/2c6cbf04d4909b70/

I get the 'All free download slots are in use.You can download this file immediately by upgrading to FileFactory Premium. Otherwise, please feel free to try again shortly.

hi , at first , you need to know that Runnymede is the name of stock rom for Htc sensation XL ,and pyramid is the name of Htc sensation ( the first one ).
then if you need to unroot your phone you can follow the steps on HTCdev.com the give you the steps to unroot .
after that ,all the runnymede.exe doesn't work ,i don't know why ,but some says that because the compatibility or the boatloader is locked, anyway, there is a methode to extract rom from Ruu if you want to install the official rom but i dont taste it , or install the official rom flashable on the section developer ,i use one of the and am really satisfied ,it look like the official rom .
i hope it will help u

Thanks for the information about which rom is for what phone
BTW. I managed to download the RUU.exe I needed, link provided above in my post. (download time over 1 hour.....)
I locked my bootloader by using 'fastboot oem lock' in cmd in windows while connected phone in fastboot USB
Then I re-started my phone and bootloader was 'relocked'. Then I started up my phone and turned on debug in development (options in android) turned of fastboot in options somewhere in android, I think under power.
Then just run the RUU.exe and it just installed stock rom, so it unrooted the phone. REMEMBER you can't install stock rom on unlocked bootloader, need to relock it.
But after that I just unlocked the bootloader again and rooted my phone and installed CWM recovery and installed ICE COLD ZOMBIE. But draw something app in android did not start. crashed and phone was a bit laggy. I had backed up my android with CWM before installing ICE COLD ZOMBIE, so I just restored that and everything was fast again.
Hello all, I'm new here but have a moderate understanding of all your delights
I recently unlocked the bootloader on my SXL, then instaled a custom ROM.
I have searched on our SXL forum and have found a few links to the RUU for Europe but non of these links work for me.
When the official HTC ICS update is released I would like to be able to install this so therefore will need the original RUU. Im in the UK and my operator is O2.
Please could one of you kind fella's provide me a link to a download for this.
Thanks.

No the Ruu's do not work on ALL devices as far as I know.
You need your region's rom.
Mine was EU, and besides that, you also need to relock your boot loader first until you can install stock rom's
But the good part here is, if you lock your boot loader - > run RUU.exe (any) and if your phone thinks it's a good RUU.exe it will start flashing, but if your device does not match the RUU.exe it will say you have the wrong RUU.exe for your device.
That's at least what I have read

Hello guys,
I have little trouble here, I own Incredible S with andorid 2.3.5 and HTC sense 3.0
and I was going to root it but befor rooting I needed to S-off and managed to do so.
Problem is that I failed, i tryed almost everthing, including revolutionary which I liked most but it doesn't work because of unsupported bhoot version.
supported versions are 1.09 and 1.13 But I have 2.00.0001 so it doesn't work..
I'm almost noob in android but want to have phone rooted so please give me some advice..
What is the easiest way to S off or to downgrade hboot to 1.13 or 1.09 (I don't even know if it's possible..)?
Thank you very much,
Nick.

If you want true S-Off then this is your only solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697
If you just want root and don't care about acknowledging to HTC that you are doing so, then check out the unlock procedure at HTCDEV.com. Note you will have to give HTC info about your phone that potentially void a warranty claim.
Well, main reason of rooting is to install georgian fonts.
As far as i know there is no way to install fonts on unrooted phone soo will that method help me to use fonts after rooting?

If after you unlock the bootloader, you would then be able to flash a custom recovery and this would allow you to flash the latest versio of SU-3.0.xxx.zip which would root your phone and allow you to install fonts.

Is it possible that you have a file named PG32IMG.zip on your SD card? That's what it sounds like is happening. Delete this file and then start the process again.
Well I am fairly new to here so I might not be the best in asking and explaining.
I would like to install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1685433
But cannot seem to find a step by step instruction how to. I am very new to installing a ROM and need a lot of help that is much appreciated. Thanks
is your bootloader unlocked and/or are you s-off? do you have already flashed a recovery?
First of all I have no idea what or how bootloader is and what s-off and what is flashing a recovery?
I understand I am a total noob haha.
Read the stickies, they will bring you a lot further
First you will need to security-off your cellphone.
Afterwards you'll have to root the phone.
And then the custom rom fun begins!
So lemme understand, first I have to do this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697
Even for the ROM I want to run?
First you will have to find out what your Hboot version is.
You can do this by first shutting down the phone, and then holding on the volume down button while pushing the power button (no need to hold the power button).
Then you will have to search for a topic that shows you an S-OFF method for your Hboot version.
I wonder if you can help me find one for my specific version:
this is what I got
*** LOCKED ***
VIV PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.01.0001
RADIO-2822.01.08.14_M
eMMC-boot
not necessarily. you can unlock via htcdev.com/bootloader. this allows you to flash a recovery. it voids your varanty tho. if you want to go the "hard way" you follow the downgrade tutorial. your waranty will not void and you can unlock the full potential of your phone.
anyway: you need to perform one of those steps to flash a recovery what you need to flash a rom.
Ok so I have completed the one from htc, now how to I proceed to doing this one?

have you already flashed a recovery? if not, follow this steps, to step 8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337105
after that you are ready to flash a rom. download the rom you want to flash and follow the instruction 8 to 14. in that example the author used cyanogenmod as rom but you can flash every rom the same way.
i just dont know if lpremix is functional at the moment. yesterday it gave me a bootloop.
For that specific one I want to install I need to install blackrose first, how do I proceed to doing that?
Since you are on hboot 2.0 already I don't think you need blackrose. If you want to install blackrose you have to gain s-off via revolutionary. If I were you I would try without blackrose and if it does not work I'd try to use niks ics Rom to see if the fault is because of blackrose. If it is you have to downgrade your hboot and gain s-off. There is a tutorial in the development forum.

Have you fastboot flashed your boot.img? It wont boot without it.
Look up a guide in this forum because I don't know off the top of my head
20 minutes with the htc logo does not sound like booting at all
please try to flash niks we want ics rom, even if it is not sense4. it should boot after a maximum of 5 minutes. if that works you have to wait for a sense4 release that actually is confirmed to work.
edit: yeah and if you are still on your unlocked and s-on, dont forget to flash boot.img manually as markj338 stated above.
I have done that now when I boot it just starts the HTC logo and after a while it goes to Recolutionary
Now I really do need help ASAP as I cant even recieve calls and texts since im not in any ROM.
since you are bootlooping now to recovery we can clearly state that the rom you are using does not work. download a rom that is known to work 100% (android 2.3 (like ARHD or nik trinity) roms or niks android 4 rom). flash that rom.
the sense4 roms do not work 100% at this moment.
I have also tried this one now:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1687777
Yet still the same error, can you please link me to one that you mentioned?
Edit: I have also tried restoring, still keep getting this problem :l
Edit yet again: Apparently I need Blackrose for both of them. How can I install it since its ment to be installed when your booted into a ROM?
