i installed sdk and drivers through the setup file, but when i connect my phone and try to select a folder it doesnt allow selecting any of the folders within usb_drivers - "folder does not contain any device information"
i searched the forums and did bunch of fixes, including usbdeview, etc.
mt3g, C's 4.2.15.1
win xp, amd64, have a wooby partition with ubuntu which i uninstalled but partition still exists
can you help?
basically trying to get usb tethering to work, i assume it need the usb drivers installed properly
It'd be nice if you posted in the right section, maybe then people would help you. Tagged for move to Q&A
i think there is a tutorial on how to do this. im telling you this because i did this also.
you basically have to point to the correct driver when your phone is searching for one to be able to make it work. when you download the sdk from the google files, there is a page that will tell you how to set it up. i know its somewhere in there. sorry i know you need help but i just dont remember where i had seen it at. and i know cyanogen also has a tutorial on his page somewhere. i was comparing what he had and what google had on their page. but its there...

Hello all. Just got my phone on Orange and I like it. I have been a Mac-user for the past 12 years so I am used to not tweaking my gadgets. Can someone explain how I install the CABs onto my Kaiser via either my G5 iMac or my intel Macbook. Many thanks
do'h not very sure, but you might want to try the missing sync, grab the latest version, it now supports win5 and 6. basically that's what you need to synch your mac and PDA, but not very sure if you can install 'em through it though
Now how do I find the installed CAB
OK I have downloaded a CAB onto the Kaiser via Missing Sync. (HTC album mui 0419.cab) So how do I now find it on the phone and activate it or any other CAB?
Thanks again
not that hard
I get that you're new, I am too, but try to figure this stuff out by yourself.
Bluetooth should work for getting files onto the phone (my docs/bluetooth)
When you sync to the phone, the PC version is that you see the phone on the schema/folder tree and can choose where to put it.
When you find the cab file, opening it will install it. Generally try to put system specific things on main memory and things like games on a storage card.
Look at some must have threads to find programs that you like and after you figure it out try a hard reset and reinstall things. That will let you keep a stable device.
As for ROMS, I would be careful of even thinking about flashing on a mac unless you find a thread telling you how to do it, you don't want a bricked device.
Remember to search the forums - it's worth your time.
Just mount the kaiser with missing sync. After that, drag and drop the file to a location that you can remember. Once you do that, just go to the file explorer in the kaiser, locate the file, and click. You should be all set.
what about a non-cab files? with an .exe extension, will it be installable trough missing sync?
from what I can remember, Missing Sync is really broken at the moment. (under 10.5).
To install a cab, you just use the tab next to syncronize, what is it, the file tab or somehing?
if it's a .cab, it will be loaded automatically. But make sure there's no spaces/irregular characters on the .cab, otherwise, it won't load the installation, and possibly, the file will not be uploaded at all. I think this is a missing sync bug.
Nope, you're going to have to pull the .CAB out of the .EXE file

hi chenga, mind to point me how to do so? because i am going to lose my XP system very soon
About me:
I have a mytouch3g running cyanogenmod 5.0.7ds
I have a mac, so most (pretty much all) of the boot screen instructions won't work for me.
The questions I have:
How can I change the boot screens on my mt3g
I found a .png that is awesome and I want to make it my first boot screen, how can I differentiate which boot screen I am changing?
Is there a less complex way of changing a boot screen than have been described? like a simple flash from recovery or something?
search button = answers
That doesnt help. i've read all the post about it already and they are all for windows, linux and the g1. none of which I have.
...A little help
If you have the Android SDK installed on your Mac... (which you should already have done) Kick your phone into "Fastboot" (I.E. Power+Back Button) From your Mac... Open up CMD line, and follow the same instructions you found for windows. Its really no different. As, long as you have properly installed the SDK and USB Drivers on your Mac. Hope this helps.
Also...
Read this post for the instructions.

Okay... I've installed Android SDK, I followed the instructions in the Cyanogenmod Wiki, and on the Android SDK website, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to run the SDK. I have Eclipse classic installed, but i'm just utterly confused. Can someone give me a description of how it's supposed to look or what i'm supposed to do or how I can get it up and running. I really need help with this.

Easy fix to all this. Take your desired boot screen and place it on your sd card. DO NANDROID BACKUP. Use Root explorer and copy and paste that bootanimation.zip into system/media folder and then reboot. Thats all there is to it
EDIT: Oh im sorry. Just noticed you want the boot IMAGE not the Boot animation. Sorry
I asked this same question about two days ago but put it in the android themes section. So far every response i have gotten has not worked. I know how to flash the splash screen when i get the correct image file, but my problem has been finding a way to change a .png or.jpg image into a .rgb565 image file. Every topic on xda that tells you how to do this requires a .exe program which me and you both know we can't run on mac without paying 50+ dollars for an extra program. I continue to look but so far the only solution i have come up with is to borrow a friends windows computer to convert my pictures. Unfortunately i just moved to a new city and don't know anyone with a windows computer. best of luck to you.
This is related to the previous thread but I have a different problem too. I rooted the phone. When I have USB debugging enabled I cant see the phone. Whith it disabled I can see the phone but cant see the SDK directory anywhere --- I am trying to install the new battery meter but I can't see the SDK directory anywhere to back it up. If I select mass media when I connect, I pull down the notificaton bar to enable file transfers but still cant see the sdk directory....btw I do not have an SD card installed. Also when starting Titanium backup I get an error message saying I will not be able to restore unless I enable unknown sources under applications, but I see no setting for that. So I am a bit confused and not sure if things are operating as they should be. I assume I am not seeing all of the directories but dont know how to get there. Any suggestions appreciated. thanks
Would appreciate assistance or direction.please.
Been working for 2 weeks on installing on My Nook Color installed with Honeycomb.
I have it imaged on SDHC card and running on Nook. Problem installing Google Apps and Market.
Looks like I have ADB installed correctly in platform tools and in SDK folde.r I have USB folder with , I think, appropriate drivers.
When I connect and then go in device manager to find driver and get to "have disk" and find the "android_winusb" (located in SDK folder usb drivers) and located the bottom where says inf file is not highlighted. Therefore it will not install.
Newbie here, but looks like not recognizing as an inf file?
Seems like I am so close and now just a puzzle I am unable to solve.
Could you or someone assist? It would be much appreciated. I have tried all searches for resolution that I know of.
Thanks.

I had the same problem trying to install the drivers on my Vista laptop. After several attempts to uninstall and re-install the drivers, I was never able to resolve it. My work around was to install ADB & the drivers on my old XP laptop for emergency use. For day to day use with my Windows Vista machine I installed ADB wireless on my Nook and it connects without any problems.

Appreciate the response, thanks.
What is adb wireless and then how did you get google apps and market on the Nook?
Wow-did some research and looks like the perfect application-thanks.
I can not find out how to download the app. I found a site that said "hit break button to see download link".
I do not know what a break button is?
How can I get the adbwireless app?
Much appreciated, thanks.
PS-If I can get that application-how do I get the Google App and Market on the Nook color?
Getting excited here!
Argh, this is driving me crazy, I have tons of pics and vids (if they work that is, thats for another time) to copy to my W7 laptop. And I cant get W7 to install the drivers. So I searched and searched and downloaded the java sdk blabla kit and then the android sdk kit. And got the that famous problem with "Failed to execute tools\android.bat: the system cannot find the file specified" problem so I searched and searched for that and found lots of threads for similar problems but none of them helped me and yes, I checked if the android.bat file was in the \tools dir and it was.
So now I am just sick and tired of this... is it really so hard to be able to get the GNote with CM10 to be able to connect to my PC with W7? It was months and months ago I last tried so i cant really remember how it was back then but I guess it was something similar..
Please help and/or send me to guides for this

You don't need Java SDK at all to get the USB connection. And Android SDK is needed only for ADB.
All you need is a clean N7000 driver; you can find it in Dr Ketan's rooting thread, or google "SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones".
A tip: after you install the driver on your PC, go to Settings/Storage of your Note, hit menu, tap USB storage and set your connection to be "USB". It's a bit slower than MTP, but more reliable.
Thank you very much!! Ill uninstall that scheize when I get home and Install the usb drivers
