WM 6.5 - Help! - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

Dear Users,
I've been looking for a 6.5 rom which has less "eye candy", there is no neet for touch-flo or anything that consumes a lot of "program memory", actually I need the LARGEST memory pool in a 6.5 rom, English ROM.
I use a lot of the Igo Navigator, and I am used to the "sony panels".
However I've been looking for a rom like this for the past MONTH, and I could not find...
Currently I am using LEO Rom, which is GREAT, But it gives me 76.80 mb free after boot-up, but after some (heavy) use with phone functions, igo and some games i get around 40 mb free! And when it gets THAT low I cannot use Igo Navigator.
Can someone help me finding a stable 6.5 rom which gives good speed and a better amount of RAM?
Thank you!

Try 826x rom.
Just use google and search for 826x.

For 6.5 I would suggest Spikegotti's Xperia X1.5 Unoff Series.
Otherwise, if you want 6.1, I would suggest Touch X Nuts or PCTech4u.

Diamond vs ELF or maybe tf3d vs manila 2d

Hy well i started this thread becouse i recently upgraded from an elf to a diamond... and now i'm not so sure i did a good thing... besides the fact that tf3d its better looking its running worse than the old manila 2d, wich was way way smoother on my elf. thing is i had so few ram on the elf i always runed out of memory when using opera mobile...but on diamond with so much ram and cpu speed available i can tell the difference in opera mobile but thats all... becouse the tf3d it's crap (in my opinion)
So i ask here is there any other rom wich i can use who might not have tf3d or maybe some cube like old elf, or maybe some other gui wich looks preaty nice? or maybe a clean rom and use another gui wich works on vga? i did a lot of search and i only found out SPB wich aint free.
ps i have read people saying that they have theyir diamonds at 30-35% memory afther soft reset, well mine its always around 50% and afther one day of using it (normal usage dialing, calling, a bit of teeter and some web browsing) i reach 90% still i did the tweak with opera preload in registry... but its crap i have to reset it all day at least once... how is this posible ? i mean elf had 64 ram and i still could play with 15 ram from the 64, diamond has 192 and i can play with only of them ? so where are the rest? what is using those 160mb of ram ? was elf using other version of windows mobile (as i remember it was 6.1 same like the one on diamond) is tf3d so much memory hungry ?
thanks hope u understand my english and hope someone can enlight me a bit, or direct me to some links where i can read about this (problem) besides the search, cose (i might be dumb) i canot find anithing relevant...
I'm going to take a stab, and say it might be related to your rom (carrier loaded rom especially).
I bought the US 3g unlocked Diamond (no carrier)..and I was happy with it (faster then my old hermes).
I'm now using Dutty's latest rom..and it is very smooth.
Have you tried turning off touchflo, and sticking with the manila 2d UI?
I have the CT's v 6.4 HD Lite ROM which includes TouchFLO 3D and the speed is good. Highly recommended.
As for soft reset, I normally switch off the phone at the end of the day. That is same as soft reset and I switch it back on next morning, I think.
well as far as i know manila 2d ui aint for VGA... or at least i couldn't find anything to work on 600x480...
TF2D for VGA:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=429224
I agree with you, TF3D is absolute crap. The speed doesn't bother me so much, it's just the memory that is used up for no good purpose, given that TF3D has no genuine benefit whatsoever. I can't think of a single feature that works properly or usefully, compared to ordinary WM apps and today plugins.
[/rant]
I think the Diamond's a great little phone - attractive and good pocket size - and the battery life isn't too much of a problem. However, given how slow the Diamond is at graphics and file system operations, it doesn't need to be burdened by a white elephant like TF3D.
SPB Mobile Shell is very popular but I went the tradional route of using SPB Pocket Plus with Phone Suite and some other plugins. DevState 1.5 works great as a Today screen task manager.

WM 6.5 Opinions Needed!!

Hi ppl,
I am looking to move from a 6.1 to 6.5 rom.
In your opinions, which is the fastest and most stable 6.5 rom?
Thank you all in advance!!
No much to split them!
I've tried all the 6.5 and 6.1 ROM's in this forum... and I mean ALL! Every time I've tried a 6.5 though, I've reverted back to a 6.1 again after a couple of days. They're just a bit buggy for me at the moment. There are some nice new features in 6.5 (and, it seems a lot more on the way), but I haven't found one that is bug free.
It depends on whether you can live with a few glitches or not. I can't... you may not mind. However, if you want to try one, this one seems pretty stable.
Personally, I'm going to wait for an official release to be ported, with all the features I've been seeing popping up on the net
i have tried wm 6.5 about 2 months ago...i will never go back to 6.1
i agree ive tried 6.5 from vavious chefs and out of all off them my favourite is
Gen.Y TouchFlo3Dv2.1 VGA whick is 6.1, i just dont like the titanium interface much prefere tf3d v2 which Gen.Y TouchFlo3Dv2.1 VGA gives me
ps imo
Ive decided to go with BsB 6.5Q rom, and it's pretty good so far.. wait and see how it holds up
I had the same question and was tempted into trying WM6.5
I installed the BsB rom and while it seems to be bug free (you must use mtty before flashing) I was a bit disappointed by the user interface of Wm6.5
I believe that TF3D is unbeaten for user friendliness and and eventually I'll switch back to 6.1 because 6.5 with TF3d uses up too much memory for the diamond.
One thing I do like about 6.5 is the smooth scrolling
wm.6.5 more friendly but eats a lot of ram
I just wish to have a 3G dialer in wm6.5 with no issue then I'll never back to 6.1
I have been using BSB latest rom, but found it not very fast. What other 6.5 roms are around which people have found to be fast, stable and keep ram usage down. I am happy with lite roms..
Looking forward to reading your opinions!!

Completely clean WM 6.1 ROM?

Does anyone have a clean WM 6.1 ROM for the Rhodium? Something that has no HTC enhancements.
Like this 6.5.1 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551282&highlight=clean
What I actually looking for is a completely clean ROM with only QuickGPS, USB connection popup & HTC Keyboard. No other extras. Anything like that out there?
I did a lot of searching but found nothing. Ill even cook if Im forced to. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!
There are some "LITE" roms out. But I do not think they are that stripped out (only Quickgps, USB Connection & keyboard).
Try contacting At0mang. He might be able to customize a ROM for you.
Or you can try one of his LITE roms (Fusion V5.5 Lite CHome HTC Dialer)
clean rom with Touchflo is what im looking for, either wm6.1 or 6.5.
if anyone has a link, plz be nice post them..
May not be exactly what you're looking for, but it is a very clean, lightweight, reliable 6.1 ROM. Here's the link:

This rom does not support anything else but the stock hardware keyboard layout, also its based on a Raphael ROM.
Yes thing is the best alternative for WM6.1 a.t.m and its what I am using. But it has lots for things which I dont use and they just take up space. Like : RSS, Worldcard, Streaming media, Touch Off etc, and it doesnt have HTC Keyboard. On a clean start the ROM has 350MB storage space. But the WM 6.5.1 one that I linked above has 385MB (and it already has HTC Keyboard and USB popup).
Ive pmed At0mang, lets see what he says.
Please update the thread with your findings. I'm in the same boat as you. Looking for the Cleanest, Latest and most Stable build with just enough programs and cabs installed to make all the TP2 features functional with Manila 2.1.
I don't get it. I used to have a Hermes (64MB TOTAL RAM) with duttythroy's SUPA DUPA LITE (WM6.1) and after boot it would ahve 30MB Free RAM. I can't find beyond 145MB free RAM on the cleanest of the cleanest and the lightest of the lightest Rhodium ROMS, a device with 288 MB RAM (This is ofcourse with no Manila)
Do the drivers really take up that much space?

From what I know is that 288MB is not the total amount of usable RAM either. Some of it is video RAM, but how much I dont know. On the Diamond for example the RAM was 192MB. 64MB Video memory and 128MB RAM.
As for the ROM (512MB) most of it gets wasted on things I dont use. The max Ive found free in a ROM was 385MB. That was the link I posted above. Its a WM 6.5.1 ROM but as such not very stable.
I am making a list of things I want removed and others that I want kept, I will post them here as soon as Im done.
So far thanks for everyone's support.
Edit : Here is what I would like the ROM to be like
Based on WM 6.1
All HTC things removed (even thier 3G icons & Commanager, I will install my own) execpt for USB connection popup, G-sensor calibrator, Kinetic scrolling, The new bluetooth stack, HTC End key, HTC Large start menu & Camera.
Some Microsoft things that should be removed : Calculator (if nothing depends on it), Office Mobile, Windows Live & Messenger, Games, extra themes (leave only one, the default one), Ringtones (leave only one, the default one), All the non essential stuff in "My Documents" folder, like Pictures, Wallpapers, Templates for camera & MMS.
Things in the settings folder that I want removed : Encryption, Clear Storage & Connection Setup (the thing that sets-up carrier setting. These I can do myself).
Based on WM 6.5
All the above plus remove IE6 (not PIE) because most of the web plugins dont work with it and I use Opera anyway. Only reason to keep PIE is because I need it for LogMeIn. Also remove honey-comb start menu and use the default WM one.
One thing to keep in mind is that I have a Swedish Touch Pro 2. So I would like to keep the files require to do swedish input via the hardware keyboard.
I dont really think anything else could be removed without causing harm to the basic functions. Although Im open for suggestions.
So any ROM developer up for it ?
Edit 2 : Some other things that can be removed : Error Reporting, Help, Remote Desktop & Search.

WM6.1_21048_M2.1 Jackos Oldschool ROM v1.1
it's good
Hm, the last recommended thread just says 'nothing here' in all posts
Did you ever get one?
I really want a blank WM 6.1 with just the enablers for the various hardware features (GSM, UMTS/HSPA, GPS, aGPS, WLAN, camera, hardware keyboard, etc). No HTC keyboard, thank you very much

6.5 or 6.1

I started this thread because I see much 6.5 ROMS right now. Some of you (atleast me) wanting a 6.1 ROM. You can also have a ROM with LEO or TF3D.
Discuss here and maybe the ROM developers can make it easier.
Greetz,
Win mo 6.5 with Rhodium manila 2.1
i really like WM 6.5.3 one with TF3D (the new one from Rhodium)...
xperia with windows mobile 6.5, without touchflo. fast&stable !
6.1 is pretty fast, but Titanium has everything I need, so 6.5 it is.
another useless thread lol ... you can cook any rom you like by yourself and you can't force chef to cook the rom they do not want!

You got a point there, but developers can see which ROM the X1 users would prefer.
For me: WMobile 6.1 + TF3D

some chefs cook rom from their own personal taste and just shares it to people
6.1
vietdoan20062006
6.1
6.5 is cool, but 6.1 is definitely faster on X1 (regardless of whether you use TF3D or no), so ... 6.1
Switched back to stock 6.1 because this is the fastest ROM.
Currently WM6.1 with SPB mobileshell. Superfast is the only reason. Like 6.5 more tho, but havnt found any good cook yet. All 6.5 cooks is buggy, hangs, SOD etc. etc..
Clean 6.5 cook with _SPEED_ would be nice, then I can install whatever I want
Maybe this thread could be both discussion of wich ver. to use, show current, help etc.?
See attached for my xperia. MrRusch NUTS 6.1 rom with SPB mobile shell.

I have tried several WM6.5 ROMs like Christians Clean, X1.5, Infinite, Pure, Energy, 826X...
They are all quite fast, but compared to the stock ROM the UI is VERY SLOW!!!
My HTC Wizard with a 200 MHz CPU and [ROM][WM6.5.x][6.5.1.7 - 23085][6.5.0.2 - 21869][Clean] - MSD Series >> 4-Nov-2009 has a much faster responding UI.
WHY??? The X1 has a 528 MHZ CPU!
Is it caused by the high resolution display of the X1 with a 4 X higher resolution?
Or does all WM6.5 ROMs use other (slower) system drivers instead of the 6.1 stock rom ones?

According to your Signature you are also running Nuts so you should know?
Well, im not using tochflo at all, disabled everything as "Today" and running SPB on top of that.
I discovered that stability and speed is most important for me. So, WM 6.1. I also install Mobile Shell for fingerfriendly UI and FingerSuite.v1.12rc8 for fingerfriendly menu's. TF3D is only an eyecandy for me. Mobile Shell is better for me, because it is faster and customizable. I install some fingerfriendly software and Xperia is ready to use.
I go for coolness and usefullness rather than speed. I do not want to go back to WM6.1 ever again... I recently had a customer with a 6.1 ROM and OMG, it's so old and hard to use/configure compared to 6.5.5
I kept trying WM 6.5 over and over but.. It's just too slow!
Switched back to PCTech4u, best WM 6.1 rom out there.
You're wrong, THIS is the best WinMo 6.1 ROM.

What ROMs are you using and why?

Dear HTC hd touch users.
As the title says what ROM are you guys using and why are you using it?
Maybe u can say some good and bad stuffs with that ROM. Also which ROM are you recommending and why are u recommending it?
Thanks for answer
Kind Regards
I vote for 3:
- Original HTC ROM. It works, it's light. Of course no Manilla 2.5, Opera is only 9.5, Office Mobile is old version. But it works pretty fine.
- Topix 3.5 WM6.1 Manila 2.1. This is light and fast and everything works fine. It's missing lastest Office and Opera tough.
- millski rom[21897]
I'm running this one now. It's not heavy for a WM 6.5 ROM. Has all the basics and no extra unneeded programs. It feels slower than WM 6.1 of course, but it's usable. Has Office 2010 and Opera 10 integrated. All WM 6.1 programs I usually install work here (in other WM 6.5 builds you can find incompatibilities)
Thanks for the answer!
I thought that updating ur ROM from 6.1 to 6.5 would make ur phone faster and more stabile but u are saying that it feels slower? explain please'
Thanks in advance!
WM 6.5 is heavier than WM 6.1. The only thing I saw going faster is installing some programs. Manilla 2.5 is heavier than Manilla 2.1. Manilla 2.5 with all tabs is heavier than it with footprints, facebook or e-reader tabs removed.
You must think of that when choosing a ROM.
A WM 6.1 ROM has more much RAM free than a 6.5 (130 MB vs 90 MB for example). This is important if you launch applications like Opera 10. Touch HD2, with 1 GHz snapdragon and 512 MB od RAM, can handle WM 6.5 better. Touch HD is not designed for WM 6.5.
If Kwbr or someone else decides to update the WM 6.1 ROM with IE6, Office 2010 and Opera 10, I'm flashing that. Right now you can use a light WM 6.5 (48% RAM used on boot).
I just love Energy ROM...they are the best in term of full pack features (all the latest) and if you are in for a beauty (eye candy) stuff. Currently I am using the Energy ROM 23554 with GTX theme (truly AWESOME!)

I would recommend Cloudy 1.6 or Topix 3.5.10, both wm6.5 roms, close to stock, low ram useage, ive had no problems with either of these roms.
Don't use wm 6.5, its stable when you don't install apps but If you install your apps, your hd will run slowy and unstable. I prefer kwbr 3.1.2 its is wm6.5 with manilia SENSE 2.1, I updated microsoft office to 2010 and opera to 10 final. All my apps are intalled, about 60 apps and it stil runs smooth, stable and fast. I've tried all the recent roms, and I always flash back to kwbr 3.1.2!! KWBR 3.5 wm6.1 sense 2.1 is in my opinion not beter than 3.1.2
If the point of this thread is to find out which roms people use & why so you can decide which to try.....my best advice would be to try a few yourself. You're never going to know which build is for you unless you try it.
Yes wm6.1 is quicker than wm6.5, but you may prefer the latest builds in wm6.5 over wm6.1
Its a matter of personal taste and everyone has his/her own likes & dislikes
Threads similar to this have been opened countless times before and closed for the very reason that its opinionated which creates endless long threads as each user will have a different opinion
For the same reasons I am closing this thread
