I bought a Tilt refurb through AT&T and just after the 90 day AT&T warranty, the keyboard began having issues with it where some keys required harder or repeated presses to register. There was no water damage and I never dropped it so who knows why it happened. It really only happened with 2 or 3 keys.
I took it to a repair store locally but they wanted like $120 to "replace" the keyboard and assembly, which made little sense to me since I had only paid $149 for the phone.
So I contacted HTC and in case anyone else is in this boat, just because the AT&T warranty is expired does not mean the HTC warranty has expired.
HTC's warranty is 15 months and they can calculate it from the serial number. They told me I was still within that 15 month period so I am ASSUMING that they will repair it for free.
please say you reverted your rom back to the shipped version before sending it in.
this is currently happening to my "a" key...I hope it doesnt get worse
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just kidding. Yeah, I did.
this happened to me a few weeks ago. sent it to att. first refurb i got back had a broken screen..second was fine just the slider was misaligned. how can you tell if there is still an HTC warranty on the phone?
Call (888) 354-2375 and read them your serial number.
htc charges you a $30 triage fee upon inspecting the device and then they ill notify you of whats wrong and if its covered..
I was told the triage fee is waived if the problem is covered.
I am having the same issue with my "s" button. i have to press it twice as hard to get it to register half the time and this sucks when you have to use your phone for work emails and such.....
im going to call that number here shortly to see if my phone is coverd still....
thanks for the thread....
I'll post back news when I hear back from them and when I get the phone back.

Yikes i just called and the guy on the phone told me "it would be about a houndred and forty-five dollars to fix that"
I asked about the 15month thing and he said "that only covers factory defect, a failing keyboard would deffinately not be covered"
I said "yeah ok thanks buddy" (hung up)
wowsers.......
the phone to me is not woth 145.00 to me now when the Raphael/Fuse and HD are so close. ah hell i could probably just buy a refurb from at&t for that much.
i hope you have better results than i did just now.
i will be monitoring this thread in hopes that it works out for you.
30.00 50.00 not so bad 145.00 nah im cool.
fingers crossed for you.
it wouldn't surprise me, but if a failing keyboard isn't considered a factory issue than nothing is.
A warranty should cover anything short of physical damage.
it really sucks that they told you this isnt factory issue.
I bought my device NEW from ATT and I have the same problem.
I was hoping this was ROM issue... but I now see it's not... too bad
just keep bothering them...make them be in your shoes..words can work magic but persistance can get you what you want dont give up just keep bugging them and getting higher personnel
This started happening about a few months after I bought the phone. My V is terrible my A is bad and my S is also bad. I thought it was a ROM issue as well. but now I have to press V extremely hard for it to register. I bought my phone sometime in December of 07 or Jan 08. Can't remember exactly when.
hi everyone, I got my tytn 2 from orange last october and I have the problem with several letters as well. I called up the HTC repair centre and told them it was really annoyed me cos i kept on missing letters in the txt. I sent back my device and fix it under warranty without charging me anything. Fixed in 5 days with UPS delivery. Very good service. Just call them up and try
good luck
I did the same thing. My TyTN II was still under the 15 month warranty thru HTC. They turned it around within about 2 days and had it back to me. They replaced the keyboard and the flex circuit.
They were supposed to call me when they had it to discuss what the issues were, but I never got the call. I wanted them to fix the misalignment issue between my top and bottom half (off by about a 1/16"), but they never did that. When I inquired after I got my phone back, they told me that "physical issues with the phone are not covered under warranty". Only software and internal board related issues.
They still have my phone...haven't heard whether its covered or not...or how much they will charge.
If these guys are anything, they are slow.
Ok so I have a bit of a story to share.
I bought my nexus in the States, friends bring it here to costa rica. The phone is a lemon, I call htc to have them send a replacement to a friend I know is coming down in a few days, two days later they still haven't shipped the replacement so I don't think it is going to get there is time. So i call them and cancel the order, they release my hold and I don't hear any further from them.
k so here is were it get's weird. My friends just left a week ago back to the states, I send my broken nexus a long with them in hopes of getting it replaced or exchanged. They get back and guess, what! My replacement nexus is sitting there waiting for them!
So what should I do now? Should I call htc and tell them what happened? Should I keep both phones? Do you think they noticed that they accidentally still sent my replacement even after I had cancelled the order? bad thing is that the replacement doesn't have a back plate
My Nexus One has been getting worse with touchscreen issues, 3-4 times a day. It will suddenly start having a touch point along the bottom of the screen which is really annoying during texting. It does go away with the power button but still. Is it worth getting fixed?
So, I called HTC about it, they wanted my IMEI and serial to tell me my options and they couldn't even find it. So I have to wait for a call back. I know its still in warranty because I only bought it in Sept. at Mobilicity.
So....to sum it up, because I'm in Canada, do you think they will send me one? or do I have to send it for repair? I heard in the US they can send you a new one? and how long does it take?
Thanks
I had an issue with my GPS and my phone randomly rebooting. I had to send it in and theey fixed it it. It took a total of maybe 2 weeks from when I called HTC, and when I got my phone back fixed. I was pretty pleased with the entire service. My phone is good as new.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I had issues with my power button so I called HTC and they had me ship mine to a repair depot in Ontario. Mind you, I bought the AT&T/Rogers version right from Google so they had no trouble looking up my IMEI, but either way there is definitely an HTC repair depot in Canada. Hopefully they call you back with good news...
Edit: advanced replacement only happens in the US, no such luck in Canada.
It has been 10 days since I gave my samsung for repairs. They are yet to figure out the problem. How long can samsung keep my phone like this?
My took only 2 days. Maybe they just lack of the parts to repair your phone?
It might be 3 weeks and then after that time, you can claim a new one. Well this is what happened when Acer took in my laptop for repairs and because 3 weeks had gone by, I requested a new one. Turns out they lost it.
Almost indefinitely. I don't think it's written anywhere how long they are allowed to keep your phone for. There's nothing much you can do short of calling the police.
Hi guys, so today is the 7th day for me to use the rog 3 tencent version. I noticed that I cannot hear someone that I call when I'm using the earpiece. I thought it was a software problem, later then I found out that my top speaker ( or left ) is not working anymore even after I did the hard reset. It's obviously not a software bug and I don't know what to do now. I've contact the seller that I bought this phone from and he said he can do the rma at least 1 month from now since China got issues with the corona and blablabla. My phone was in a good condition and never fall. So my only option is to wait until next month and need to wait for another week for the rma to be done. I'm wondering if anyone face any problem like me or it is just me?
never mind , send back my phone to china and received a new one after a month. Closed
