Hi, I am trying to find the Dev Tools apk (Development.apk). I know that some custom roms have it, but it doesn't really work in a stock rom, I keep getting fc in development settings. So has anybody got the version of Development.apk for stock roms?

hi, im pretty new to this rooting business and noticed when going on a thread for a specific rom, they have a google add on download.
what is that? do i need it? if so, how do i install it?
another question, what are kernels? and if i need it and how to install?
ive used the androot 1 click root application and clock work mod recovery if anything
thanks
Hi bit of a beginners questions but how do a port an application from one rom to another.
A am currently running MicroMod's 2.5 Rom but the FM radio isn't as good as the one on Cyanogen so I thought I would install it on Micromods rom.
This is what I tried, open up the nighlty build of NC rom, went to system/apps and copied the fm.apk to my sdcard. Then I installed it using Astro in Micromods but when I try to use it I get force closes.
I suspect it different or missing ddls files but unsure were to look to find this out.
Any ideas
Im pretty sure the fm.apk is linked to the CM6 framework so it would only work on CM6 atm...
I would also like to know the best way to do try to do this in general. Ive always wanted to put the browser from cm into an enom rom but the same thing happens as op said and it just fc's. If I were to use root explorer or 7zip to unzip the apk is there a specific place to look to see what other files need to be where in order for the apk to function properly?
it's pretty complicated which is why people tend to avoid it. You basically need to copy the right sections of Cyanogen's framework code into MicroMod's framework.. and since I believe MicroMod's ROM is based on HTC, that would involve some disassembly (look into smali/baksmali), but that would require some knowledge of assembly language.
It's a LOT of work, and a lot of testing (and swearing.. haha). Hate to discourage you.. but if anyone knows of a better (and more feasible) way I would love to hear it
I honestly doubt it's possible. CyanogenMod uses the MIUI method for the FM radio, which is most likely completely different than HTC's proprietary method. Kwazi is right though, it lies deep within the framework.
Hi guys,
I am really interested in figuring out the steps that should be followed in order to compile a stock android rom for i9000.
I find the phone amazing but really hate touchwiz and all samsung's applications.
Thanks in advance
compile a stock android rom for i9000.
Stock as in stock rom supplied by Samsung or do you mean a Custom Rom .
Custom roms are in the development section as are the guys that build them .

I meant vanilla android, i am aware of resources where you can find stock samsung compilations (namely samfirmware -sorry but as a new user i cannot post links- although there's also an updated list in a thread somewhere in xda forums) and i also follow some of the custom made roms (currently i'm using Darky's v9.3).
I would like to get to know how to get my custom rom compiled and packged so i9000 can load it, the reason: i really dislike samsungs additions to android (touchwiz) and i haven't found a custom rom similar to what i am seeking.
For the first steps i suppose i should grab the code from aosp but i just don't know if i need some drivers (i suspect i do), and if so... where can i get these?
Then... once all that stuff is compiled, what are the steps that should be followed to make the compiled image flasheable?
Thanks.
I really thought that the custom ROMS in the dev section could be built as custom as you like via the kitchen. First take the bare Android 2.2.1 JPY/JS5 system and add the Gingerbread launcher as well as the market then off you go. Can't get anymore vanilla than that ?
I have tasted all the roms in this forum and now i want to go back to stock
The problem is that it is laggy and slow
I had read somewhere we can tweak up our stock rom to some extent
Can someone tell me how or atleast guide me
I searched the whole forum but could not find the thread

Ok, for stock rom, stock kernel...installed by SEUS or whatever.
Use puppert13th's x8toolbox to root, install modules, recovery, etc.
then install the fix for the dual touch.
Then go to Market, update busybox, su, link2sd.
...the result is something like this:
You can also Odex, but then the framework-res will remain fixed, you will not be able to change it (hence apply themes....)
I change themes a lot , and framework, but when I tested teh Odex by puppet13th I could see some free space and speed.

Hi,
I just set up all of that ROM developing stuff (like cygwin and kitchen). Afterwards I need a "clean" ROM as a base.
Which ROM can I use? I wanted to grab a the V30 repack from Nooby0815, but there aren't any apps/media/etc inside.
Is there a "clean" ROM on the board here? Because I really don't want to steal other developer's work...
Thank you
I think tantrums' deodexed stock roms would be great to start with, they are "clean", have all original apps, and plus fully stable (as they are stock) Just ask him permission before you do anything.
ok good idea
sorry for doublepost...
I have another question: To include apps from Play Store like a better Calculator, can I use this tool? I wonder if I could, because of the device ID
