I have a bronze G1 i dropped and broke back in December about a week before christmas. The digitizer completely shattered, i tore into the phone and ordered the new parts. When putting it back together with the new digitizer, the lcd flex cable got caught in the sliding mechanism, it of course got cut, i ordered a new one, same problem. Well, the second new one came in, i put it all together, luckily, its booting, im at the splash screen. I do the good old three finger salute and boot into recovery to be sure its all up to date, rebooted again, and bam! Nothing, the LCD lights up but the splash screen doesnt come up. The whole phone turns on, LCD turns on, but no picture. I took it apart to be sure the wire didnt come undone, pieced it back together, still the same thing. Any ideas? Really frustrated with this, itd be nice to have the device functioning again.

Ok, I'm a touch pro owner but i recently came across an AT&T Tilt with a busted lcd screen for 20 dollars. I'm planning on ordering an LCD screen for it and putting it in. I figure if i screw it up, i'm only out 50 dollars and it'll be a learning experience. . Problem is I can't get the phone to work with My Mobiler. The phone seems like it is in working order besides the LCD screen being cracked. Screen comes on, buttons light up, i can hear the phone boot up and it will ACTIVESYNC. Anything way i can view the screen for thing or can someone tell me why My Mobiler won't work with it? Works fine on the Touch Pro.
Well i guess it doesn't matter now.. I've already disassembled the phone and removed the old LCD and ordered a new one. Was a pita taking this thing apart... I HOPE i can put it back together. heh.
So my Screen broke and I bought a new one so I could replace it, the touch screen/digitizer didn't break though... at first the colors just started washing and fading untill the screen ended up completely dark, I could still use the touch screen and feel when I would unlock it, after a day the phone would not give me any feed back by vibrating or turning the orange light while charging, so I dismantled it using some tips from these videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhj8Xs9vAyg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTRXSMQ-GJY&feature=related
After I put everything back together the phone is giving me feedback again and I can notice its charging because of the orange light, but the screen won't turn on. Does any one know if I might need to do something on the software side? like needing to re install anything? or do you think I just got a bad screen?
Update: I just took it apart again and reconnected the ribbons, its back together and the screen still won't turn on.
You have the AMOLED screen and not the LCD?
Did you compare the #'s on the old and new to see you got the right part?
Cables are the same, they look the same, part # and stickers are different...
What are the part numbers on your new and old screen? I just went through the same thing, but I'm fairly sure I got the wrong screen replacement. Will have to look more into it later tonight.
My screen wont turn on at all. I was so excited to get my N1 back in action as well.
Hey guys, my LCD broke, It was a AMOLED not SLCD, I bought this piece off ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/260900702599?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I put everything back for the second time now, first of all the device doesn't come on, but when I plug the AC power it shows charging light.
I'm pretty sure my old screen is AMOLED..
I made sure all the connectors where tight on the board. any help?
It wont power on, did I break something?
I'm pretty screwed guys, been at it for like 5 hours I'm done for tonight
Here is what I've conluded. I detached the digitizer from the lcd I made a mistake and removed the factory "tape"
Is and in the process the little power button came off.
So what are my chances now?
Can the digitizer be taped back to the lcd? or Do I need to get a new digitizer which includes an LCD? so as to preserve the factory tape?
As far as the power button goes, I'm not talking about the plastic bit, I'm talking about the actual button underneath. It seemed to be holding on my a little thread anything. Is that "thread" a connector or the button functions fine without it? I put iit back and sealed the phone up, it seems to be pressing. But of course the phone wont still come on
Not even 1 person?
Hello, guys!
Recently I bought an HTC One with cracked digitizer, but functional. It had a lot of scratches etc, but this is not important right now. I wanted to do a complete make-over so I bought replacement parts from the internet, I bought the front housing with the LCD screen and the back cover. I dissasembled the phone from the old housing (the one with the broken digitizer), and I assembled it back on the new housing. After all of that, I powered on the phone and it worked like a charm (the LCD and the touch-screen worked perfectly), but then I saw that the glass was a little out, I mean it was upper than the speakers cover, so I decided to take out the whole screen and to change the adhesive, because it was too loose and the screen wasn't staying properly. I succesfully did that, i put the screen back and everything was good, but when I wanted to start the phone, the screen remains black. And this is the problem I have. I mention that I worked very carefully with the screen, so I don't think the problem is at the screen. I disconnected and reconnected all the cables and still doesn't work. When I press the power button it vibrates and then it's making that sound like the phone is booting, but no image on the LCD. If I keep the power button pressed, the back and home buttons are blinking and then the same story as before, vibrates and then the sound. I really don't know what could be the problem.
I really need some help with this and I'm open to all of your suggestions. If you want more informations feel free to ask.
Thanks in anticipation!
To me it looks like you damaged one the flat flex cable.
When you took the screen out did it come like suddenly and maybe some tension was applied to the flat flex?
If I were you I would take it apart and verify the connection in the socket, maybe the socket was damaged or something and it doesn't make a good connection
I hope it works out for you
Thank you for your answer!
When I took out the screen, I took it out very carefully and there wasn't any tension applied to the flex cable, so I don't think this is the problem. I think it's more likely a problem with the socket on the motherboard, like you said, and it's not making a good contact. But what can I do about that?
Hello,
I know a lot of us are having problems with displays and digitizers and im wondering if anyone else has this problem. Yesterday i replced my screen because it had a dead zone. I booted up the phone and everything worked great until i locked the screen. When i pressed the power button to unlock it there was just a black screen with lots of white lines forming. Without fail the phone will do this. I restart and its fine but when i lock it, it gets screwy. I really need to get this working since i dont even have a backup phone right now. By the way the display is not oem its a knockoff.
Since you change your LCD....it might be a different panel from your original. Check your kernel or flash the kernel again.

Same thing happen to me about a month ago during my G2 screen repair. I bought mine on ebay from a seller that had sold hundreds of them, figured I couldn't go wrong. Unfortunatly I never figuered out why it was failing and just ended up returning it for a refund. The second screen I bought was from etradesupply and it worked perfectly. Hopefully someone has a fix for this weird issue.
I had that exct thing happen to me, well rainbow colored lines. I shattered the screen on a corner drop. I took it to Gopher Mods, they replaced the screen and within a few minutes it happened. They replaced it 2 more times and eventually the last time the screen popped out a little bit since they did not add enough glue/sticky tape inside and the lines dissapeared. They also gave me a full refund, with which I got another G2. So two working phones now lol.
Basically the screen might be pressed in too tightly causing the cable inside to be kinked too much. Its very easy to damage the video cable in this phone mind you.

Try installi mg dorimanx's kernel which detects your panel type of search the thread for a kernel swap flashable. Your new panel may be of a different type causing the white lines.
