The Ericsson A1018s.
Why?
For one simple reason - the keypad. Holy mother of all that is holy, the keypad on this phone SUCKED. It was virtually unusable, typing a message would take an eternity because the keypad felt cheap and awful and the input was SO SLOW it was unbearable. It'd take forever for characters to appear on the screen and half the time it wouldn't even recognize your touches. It was one of those scenarios where you would press the button harder and harder til your fingers bled even though it made no difference.
Thank god I don't think I actually owned this phone myself, believe it was my dads for a time who only used it for calls.
The aerial was probably the biggest I'd ever seen on a phone pre-2000, but was kinda cool. It had a sharp point at the bottom of the aerial if you removed it which you'd never get through airport customs in 2010.
This would have been a cool little mobile if it wasn't for the keypad. They even gave you 3 coloured clip-on fronts.
This phone was also called the 'coca cola' phone to some people as I believe Coke had a competition to win this phone on collecting a million ringpulls or something.
A girl I quite fancied bought one after her Motorola got stolen too, it took her years to reply to my texts which made it frustrating to flirt with her even though I had a usable handset myself! Very unfair!
So f**k this phone! What's your worst?
SmS2 ... coincidentally i happen to have used exactly this one...and it was also my Dads passed on to me when i came at the age of using mobile which was 18 yrs at that time ....
but considering the time it was launched..it was a nice phone... with some cool features..
One thing i still remember is that it had the option of switching to line 1 and line 2 even when their was one SIM slot...may be operators that time thought later on thay would provide this option on a single sim
Even the antenna used to work when we removed the extension and i the add on tacky Vibrator had to be purchased separately
Why i liked it...i cud be used as a brick at the time of emergencies

LOL - I kind of have a soft spot for it too. I like all of the oldskool GSM phones really, very durable and, well, phonelike! Motorola M3788 was my first, probably the easiest 0-9 keypad style phone for texting I ever had. Could never see myself going back to one of those though now I'm spoiled by Qwerty, Swype and the like.
Simpler times when the only worry you had was how the HELL you'd afford to keep the thing topped up. No worrying about compatibility, roms, OS's and all of the other stuff we've become accustomed to needing!
Wait a minute, I bought an HD2 for an easier life. BRB - checking my attic.
All my cellies b4 da G1 sucked lool. Specially maa Razr.
Luckyly I did not buyed and sold after 2 days usage
Really can't put into words how bad it was.....
iPhone or more like iPhail.....
for me - iphone
it was also the iphonie for me.
Reception was awful and it weighed a tonne!!
We still have one of those Ericsson A- series same one as the picture! All boxed with everything. Branded: BT CELLNET. But it doesnt work

Yo guys, I have had this Kaiser since January, and I must be honest it was a dissapointment, but then I stumbled across this site, and I started flashing my phone with different roms, and yeah I must admit, the dissapointment dissapeared for a while, and now, my phone's keyboard broke, and I can't do anything, its stuck on ECFG, so when i goto word or something, it types ECFGECFGECFGECFGECFGECFG the whole time.
Just want to say was an awesome time here, by the end of next month I'm gonna be throwing this Kaiser against the wall, theres just too much thats wrong with it, even out of the factory.
1) crap GFX drivers
2) crap battery life
3) my touched screen stopped working for a while
4) way too fragile
5) and now this.......keyboard stuck on ECFG...
6) During a phone call signal strength is 100%, but seems like Mic is cutting out everynow and then. Have to slap it while talking to the other person so they can hear me??!?!!
Thanks a lot for XDA otherwise i wouldve threw this phone out long ago.
Any reccomendations on what phone I should get next?
Thanks
...iphone?
Send your Kaiser "disaster" to me...
sell for parts, fit there is any parts left of it
The next phone i am getting is HTC_Raphael
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Raphael
A few kaiser people move to HTC_Diamond
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Diamond
They are just about the same except
HTC_Diamond
4gd on board rom
no microsd slot
no keyboard
fm radio
480 x 640
HTC_Raphael
512mg rom
keyboard
micro sd slot
fm radio
480 x 640
HTC_Diamond is out but i think HTC_Raphael is coming out this month
too bad the rapheal looks really thick... but you are right about the kaiser being extremely delicate i have had a few problems also.
Sell it man, don't waste it on the wall. You can easily get a good amount for it broke. Lots of people would be willing to take the chance at fixing the keyboard. I did that with about three wizards and made a profit.

SHHH! Dang I was in talks of getting it from him for free.
iPhone would be nice, but you lose so much when going away from windows mobile. the xperia is looking pretty nice.
What are you people doing to these phones to make them "fragile"? Using them as hammers?
I'm not the "kindest" to my phone, screen isn't scratched, couple of dings where it was dropped from waist height, mostly to carpet, couple of times on concrete.
Tilt mechanism used 3-5 times a day and it's still as tight as can be.
I just can't figure out how people hose these phones.
I agree my phone is pretty durable. Climbing out of my SUV a couple times I've Hit my Holster and it released my phone and it fell to the parking lot. Still as strong as ever.
I dunno then maybe my phone fell off the aeroplane or something on the way to South-Africa lol, oh another problem I'm having with the phone, even though my signal strength is 100% etc. I'm hearing the other person loud and clear, but they can't hear me at all at times. I have to slap the phone every now and then and then they can hear me? I mean wtf.
This is the most problematic phone I've ever had. My phone barely has any scratches too, yeah, dropped it a few times, surprizingly I can almost see any scratches on it. There are absolutely no scratches to the touch screen.
I'm a business man, I need my phone 24/7, and it needs to be working 24/7. Like even if I shower, I put the phone about 2m away from the shower, just so that I can hear it, and last night my phone rang, I dried my hands, my hands were a lil wet, and I touched the phone to answer, and the whole keyboard/front buttons went completely bonkers after that.
Now my previous phone was completely splash proof (Nokia N80ie) and I have dropped that thing millions of times, and I've never had a days crap with it. Yeah after a while it looked like the phone just came out of world war 2, and yet it still grafted.
So ja..... my lil 2 cents

Hmmmmm i dont know about delicate.....im not gentle what-so-ever and my kaiser has seen concrete pavement many a time..... Aside from the scratches on the case, it still works like new
I have a dead kaiser also, but mine was self destruction.
Work gave me the ****s, so I literally threw the phone as hard as I could on the floor.
I stayed in one piece, but was completely dead.
I have another one know, but I'm also starting to lose my patients with it.
Running Dutty's apr/29 rom.
My main problem with the kaiser is, no matter what rom, when it's time for some hardcore use, like making ****loads of calls, sending msgs etc.., it tends to fail at the most critical of times, and I have to soft reset with furious anger
Thats my main gripe with the phone.
The sad thing is, I have 4 more kaisers sitting here.
I think I'm gonna sell one for an iphone, and one more to get a touch pro.
Or you could just give them to me. I will use them for good, I promise.

Theres always going to be something...Steve needs to shave in that picture
omg...I can just imagine at the next iPhone release, Steve is going to say the following:
"With the iPhone 4, we reimagined how the antennae should be designed by using a metal band with a couple of slits. This meant that your entire phone acts as the antennae. Now, with the iPhone 5, we again push innovation to the limits. Now, we reposition those slits such that you can hold your phone with either hand. It's really magical." [fanboy audience applause]

Sad but true. LOLOL
This problem can be demonstrated in the HD2 as well. I just tried it. if I hold the bottom half of the phone, the signal drops from 5 bars to 2 ~ 3 bars. If I put it down, it goes back up to 5 bars. Seems to happen with either hand for the most part. But I guess the problem is that it's bad enough on the iPhone to a point where people are getting dropped calls or something?
If you hold the phone on the upper half, you see no such problem. But I guess the whole issue with this is in the manner in which Steve Jobs replied the e-mail. It's like a big F-U to the customer. "I already got your money, I could care less about what you do or have to say".

Doesn't happen with my HTC Pure
See there's a difference though. The HTC HD2 does lose some signal [I've actually teted this myself], but it doesn't lose ALL service.
The iFail 4 loses, literally, all service in a matter of seconds.
And the goons paying $500+ for these iFails are inticed enough to spend MORE money to actually be able to use the device as a phone.
That's like if HTC told users that "without buying a third party sleeve or a headset, your new HD2 can't be used as an actual phone". And if I was to read that, I'd still buy the HD2, because it's simply amazing. But the iPhone is everything BUT amazing.

I think it's time for Steve "Howard Hughes" Jobs to pack his sh*t and get OUT!!!!
lol, or cut all of your fingers except the pinky and thumb.
One solution to the Apple iPhone 4's antenna
problem is to cover the lower left corner with tape.

Is it the original or a copy? I believe a Lithium Polymer battery was a big selling point for the T28 and the size is different too with some millimeters or so.
The phone is sold for 349+49 SEK incl shipping which is about 45 USD
Have already ordered it, as it seems to be a T28 more or less...
At Priskungen. A not so serious Internet company.
Ericsson T28 or a copy
People be warned this is not a serious company with a proper customer care.
Probably some Garage/basement company, doesn't mean it is a scam but...
I sure remember that phone! I used to have one when I was younger
Before the merge between sony & ericsson I uses to know some folks working for ericsson and they hooked me up with the latest phones all the way until the t68 came out!
the t28 was probably one of the best phones ever made - at the time it came out it was THE best phone, no questions asked!
Although my favourite ericsson phone was the t66 - the ultra tiny one.

I only partially agree. The T-36M was THE best phone ever made when it debuted, before the T28 or T28World Edition for GSM 1900Mhz.
I say get the T36M better BT implemented (T28World had BT, T28 did not), and better battery life. BONUS if you can find 1 of the original 36 that shipped in Canary Yellow. For some reason I still miss that flip and that Antenna. Only recently we're getting phones that could do 6hrs-14min continues calls straight from full charge. That was my personal record done twice 13 almost 14yrs ago with my current girlfriend. WOW!
Hell yes man, this was my first phone. The other day I was on a hunt to find out what the phone was after lots of searching I found it. Definitely a great phone at the time!
Ok
I got my T28s today. It came complete with a charger and battery but no manual
Everything seems to work but... The menu language is all in China signs
Anyone here on XDA having any clue of it's possible to change the language with the installed firmware? Is there any other firmwares.
Also The T28 came without box, just wired together with the charger in bubble plastic and taped together to a ball Those Chineses...
Sadly the antenna the T28s trademark was damaged but still had better receiving than both my X10 Mini and J20i Hazel.
So those fellow XDA members that still remember the
T28 menus, please help me set them to English or Swedish
Sorry for not using Google before asking
I found a Swedish manual in Wikipedia.
Also there was no Swedish language in this phones firmware but luckily enough this phone had the English menu language.
In the manual I found that keying in: "arrow up" 0000 "Arrow down" was an emergency language setting code.
I have a feeling that the T28S will be quite funny for ordinary phone calls as well as one or two SMS.
Using Prepaid so the Internet is not interesting also even thought the T28S is able to connect a computer to the Internet the speed would be 9,6 kb/sec...
The T28s is also from an age before WAP and
I wish I know
I remember it well it wasn't my first cell phone but was my first Tmobile phone.
I loved it's size and form factor.
My little Huawei IDEOS's size reminded me of it.

2) My old razr did some thing like this, but I did not video it and well I could not do any thing with the phone so I had to leave it off and some how it just worked again. (I still have no idea what happened or WHY the bleep it messed up so badly for.)
3) How did you fix it or did it just do it?

Were you able to still use the phone?
Yea, Sucks.
Holy Cow Dude that looks terrible. I've not had an epic fail yet but I've overdone it recently. my Rooted HTC HD2 seems to have a habit of failing, freezing or rebooting right when I need it. I'm on my way home, i need to make multiple calls back to back and what happens friggin android phone freezes. I kill all tasks try to bring it back up, crashes again then instantly into a reboot.
LG Envy Touch.
Biggest piece of crap I have ever owned.
Complained so much to Verizon that two months after getting my upgrade, they let me get another two year upgrade price on a droid x and keep the envy. Lol. Sold it on Ebay for over $200.
Yea it sucked big time.
I had to deal with 3-4 phone reps and 4-5 store guy's before I got a new phone.
I will tell what they said:
1 phone rep said I needed to leave the phone off over night. ( Say what)
1 phone rep said I needed to clear all in all internet apps. ( So did not fix it)
2 store reps said I was being "slowed down for lot's of data use".
3 reps said it needed a fac reset. ( Did not fix it for long, came home and bam 600kbs)
Any way the new one is all good, but it was a pain becuase "it's the best phone they have". ( I am like I just want the thing to work right, telling me this crap does not make me feal better.)

Yeah it just requires a reboot but it happens every now and then not as often as the random reboots though
I think this phone or verizon is crap.
Well I should have not said all good with the new one, but a lot better so far. It has droped Data 2 times and fell back to 3G one time in the 2 days I have had it.
I don't know at this point if verizon is crap or the razrs are unstable. I know motorola is better than this so I think it's just the 4G LTE gsm and CDMA trying to work at the same time fail.
Edit: It's now doing it to. This is my 2nd phone and less than 3 days it start's pulling this crap.
Bigest phone fail us the Samsung intercept. It's the definition of crashes, freezes, slowness, freak outs, and miss sends and barely any apps work with it
Biggest fail for me was the Nokia N90.
Nice phone with nice camera features, but every now and then it drove me crazy with random resets or, sometimes, with unnoticed shut downs. It just resetted or shutted down in my pocket.

About Me...Take a seat
Im all about android, since you are reading this I’m willing to bet you are too. From a Motorola Brick to a Samsung Galaxy Gear, I’ll show you how I fell in love with android. Sit back and relax as I lead you on my journey…. I recently searched for T-Shirts, hoodies, jackets, anything that I can wear with an Android based design. My results netted almost none at all. I found maybe one or two t-shirts. I was pretty disappointed that I could not walk to classes at The University of Kansas wearing something I supported so much. Here is my story.
My first phone was a brick from Motorola at the age 14. My mom placed my first phone on my birthday cake so I immediately thought it was fake. I remember thinking it couldn't be merely anything but a hollow dummy phone. To my surprise it was heavier than what I had expected. That birthday marked the long nights of playing snake.
At 15 my second phone came into my life. It couldn't just be any phone though. It had to have a color front LCD screen and play polyphonic ringtones. My mom and I settled on Kyocera. A flip phone on virgin-mobile. This phone served all a teenager's needs at the time. With this phone I was introduced to Java given the web browser. At the time there was absolutely no development from a 15 year-old’s standpoint. I was simply happy could browse Myspace on my phone.
When I was 16 everyone in high school had the Motorola Razr (today's IPhone) but I wanted something different. I wanted something just as good and just as slim. I could afford it since I started work at a Sonic nearby.... Making $5.15/hr plus tips I was basically rolling in money. 220 dollars later I ordered the Samsung A900 aka "The Blade" from eBay. It was dope at the time. It had front facing speakers, music control buttons, and a rotating camera. I’m just realizing it now but was the first selfie phone. :cyclops: To stand out I wrapped the phone in a money skin from ebay. I was pretty much the cool kid on campus.
While I was around 17 years old I bought my first smartphone. This also might be my first time finding xda, I joined in 2008. It was the HTC Vogue aka The Touch. It was my first ever touch screen phone and it had windows! I was amazed I could simply copy and paste files just like my computer and it only had 3 buttons. With unlimited texting/data and my Acura Integra I was living the life of a teenager.
18 years old I was still working at Sonic but now as a shift manager. The pay was great for my age while still living with my parents. Once my upgrade came along I decided to get another HTC. The Touch Diamond. All I ever wanted. It was a windows phone, it has a pretty good camera, AND it had a gyroscope built in! Now I can brag to my friends about this awesome game where you can tilt the phone in order to roll a ball through a maze.
Onward came the Motorola Droid. At this point I was 19 and recently accepted into the University of Kansas studying Mechanical Engineering. I remember sitting in English 101 discussing a topic about how technology has shaped us. The guy sitting next to me noticed my Droid on the desk and brought it up to the class. He said “His phone is basically a computer. He has a keyboard, he can send and receive email, and use the internet. The best thing about it is he can fit it in his pocket.”
