When I get in my car, the my nexus auto connects to my car's bluetooth for phone use. I also have a bluetooth media receiver in my car - in the nexus, it shows up as "Paired but not connected", so I have to go to menu/settings/wireless and networks/bluetooth settings/and click on the device to have it connect.
Is there any way to have it auto connect?

So you want both connected automatically when you get in your car?

Yes, that is correct.
Have you disabled the Phone profile for the media receiver? Long click the media receiver -> Options -> Phone. (translated from german...but you should be able to find it, I hope)

The media receiver only has a profile for media audio (which is checked) - it does not have a phone profile.

Has anyone figured out a quicker way to turn on A2DP BT connection? It takes way too many clicks and very difficult to do with finger. The best solution is a one-finger-click icon in HTC Today. Moreover, how can I create a shortcut to wireless manager? It's not one of the application listed on the list.

This is a today screen plug-in that makes it very simple.

It also accepts command line input without any today screen plug-in.

Must be the bluetooth implementation on the device - yours sounds nice. I purchased some Musicfan A2DP speakers recently and I also have to go throught the laborious process mentioned above.
My Procedure -
1. Comm Manager and turn on Bluetooth
2. turn on my headset
3. start Windows Media Player
Now - if I leave Bluetooth on all the time (which I have started to do since the threads on 'the battery lasts longer with bluetooth on and no headset on' then that simply leaves the last two options - not sure how to get more simple than that on my TILT.

I can't get my XV6800 to send sound to my new HP GW470AA stereo noise-reducing headphones. This is my first experience with BlueTooth. I made sure the phone was fully charged, then used the HP setup procedure, in which I temporarily turned ON the phone's pairing switch. The phone shows up in the list of recognized Bluetooth devices, where it is told to provide stereo sound. I've turned BlueTooth ON in both devices, as verified by the blue flashing LED on each. But sound continues to come through the 6800's built-in speaker. What have I overlooked? Is there a setting somewhere that tells the 6800 "Don't automatically switch sound to a Bluetooth device"? If so, where?
Is there a port setting I'm to set somewhere? No ports show up in the BlueTooth field that lists ports.
For what it's worth, I may have messed up during installation by specifying a short password when asked if I wanted to do so. I tried to repeat the install-and-pair process, to no avail. I can't seem to get the phone to forget the original pairing.
The phone works when connected via USB.
Help!
First, undo everything that you did to get back to square one.
Please realize that I don't know how your HP Stereo Bluetooth Headphones get put into pairing mode, but connection of a Bluetooth headset to a phone is initiated on the phone.
Go into Settings and select the "Connections" tab.
Tap on the Bluetooth icon and then go to the "Mode" tab
Tick the box that reads, "Turn on Bluetooth."
Now, go to the devices tab, put your headset/headphones into pairing mode, and tick on "Add new device..."
When you see your Bluetooth device show up, select it. You will be asked for a password.
The standard Bluetooth pairing password is simply four zeros (0000).
Select Connect and you should be done.
Good luck!

I tried to follow your advice, Rob, but I had no luck:

How? I couldn't find anywhere where I could delete or undo the "HP headphones" that I had already "paired" (or thought I had paired).

Shouldn't I also select, "Make this device visible to other devices"? I did so.

On my phones, that means that not only must the Bluetooth switch be turned ON, but a second switch, too, used just for pairing. When I turn on the second switch, the phones' bluetooth LED flashes more quickly.

Nothing new shows up; just the pre-existing "HP headphone," the name I had given it.

Unbelievable. How are 99 percent of users supposed to know this? I don't recall whether I was prompted for this the first time around. If I was, and put in nothing or something else (1234), what I be seeing "HP headphones" in the list of available devices? If I wasn't, does this suggest I never got far enough?
Select Connect and you should be done.

I've never seen the Connect option.
My best hope, it seems, would be to undo my first attemptl. But how?
1. Go into Bluetooth Connections in Settings, select your device by holding down the stylus on its name. A menu will pop up, and one of the choices will be "Delete." Select that one!
2. Although I cannot guarantee it, I am guessing that pairing your HP Bluetooth headphones to the phone is pretty much like pairing any Bluetooth headset with a phone. Of course, the thing that makes me curious is why you want to pair "headphones" to a phone rather than a "headset?" For a phone, you'd probably be better off with something like Motorola's HT820 that allow you to not only listen to audio files, but also allow communication, which is after all, the main reason for having a "phone!"
3. No, you do not need to make the device visible to other devices. That setting is for when you want to pair your device with a computer to perform a Bluetooth ActiveSync.
4. Yeah, you'll want to crank on both switches to put your headphones into pairing mode. The phone's LED flashes more quickly because it is "seeing" the headphones.
5. See item number 1 above. It should not be in the list anymore. You should only see "Add new device..." unless you have previously paired other devices. In my list, in addition to "Add..." I see Motorola HT820 and Motorola H12, the two headsets that I have paired. You might see something similar.
6. The pairing code is generally written in the instruction sheet that comes with your Bluetooth accessory. As I stated, it is generally four zeros, but that doesn't prevent a manufacturer from using something different, so check the documentation that came with your device.
7. As I said, undo by following what I wrote in item 1 above.
Good Luck!
Rob
Rob,
Thanks again. I was able to delete the existing instance, using your instructions. I was prompted for the passcode, and entered 0000, the passcode for Vista. This password turned out to be incorrect, so I'll go hunt down the directions for XP; I recall that it differed.
It works!!! Can't thank you enough.
Glad I could help.
Hey Guys!
Is there a way to tell WM6 to automatically route Audio through A2DP as soon as a paired device supporting the profile is connected?
Clarification:
When using a Hands-Free-Headsetfor telephony you can pair it once, then turn it off, after that it is automatically connected to the phone as soon as you turn it on again.
In contrast to that a Bluetooth Stereo headset is not automatically connected, you have to manually activate it in Bluetooth Settings first before you can listen to music through it.
Especially with my car stereo used as "A2DP Headset" (which loses power every time the ignition is turned off) this can get highly annoying.
Is there a way to tell Windows to automatically "use" A2DP-Peripherals when available?
Try A2DP Toggle: http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=freeware
The Today-plugin migt reconnect automatically, but it has a memory-leak...
To easily manually reconnect, you can create a shortcut to the exe:
\Program Files\Teksoft\A2DPToggle\A2DP.exe
Then you can put that program on your today screen easily.
And if you want a nice icon with that shortcut, you can change the shortcut file to:
53#"\Program Files\Teksoft\A2DPToggle\A2DP.exe" "-a2dp:1"?\Program Files\Teksoft\A2DPToggle\settings.exe,-0

Yep. The WM bluetooth stack sucks. It works better with some stereos though. I tried it out in the store with I believe a Pioneer (with bluetooth 2.0) and it was perfect. Turned it on and a2dp connects. Switch to another input and a2dp disconnects. Switch back to bluetooth audio and it connects. It was flawless. I ended up ordering the kenwood built in bluetooth unit (bluetooth v1.2) and it is terrible. I must manually toggle the bluetooth connection (I use a program that I wrote to do so, kinda similar to the above the above poster posted). Also, sometimes after a call comes in it wont reconnect. Sometimes i must power off then on the headunit a few times. Wasnt this thing supposed to make things easier?! A real shame because I love everyting else about the kenwood head unit. It works better with some ROMs on my phone (this is with a tilt; xperia on the way ).
Yeah, A2DP Toggle works for me as well, It's just dumb that this phone cant just do that itself. My old W880i could! I'm using a Sony DR-BT21G headset

A story to learn before you you buy the head-unit I spent almost an hour at Fry's to try many units w/ my Tilt as well (Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC ...etc) and ordered online w/ the JVC unit. Excellent sound (compare to other model) but disconnect after phone call issue exist. I believe it's HTC fault since my Eten M600 (MS BT stack) and Asus P525 (Widcomm) doesn't have this issue (but others....). But I got to admitted HTC one do have the best sound quality.
BTW, my JVC BT-1 will auto connect my X1/Tilt when I start my car and I think it serve my purpose.

I have created an application wich runs the commandline setting automaticly, so you never have to do anything again it connects automaticly. You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502549
I googled this and searched for it on these forums, but nothing turned up. I'm looking to use my phone connected to headphones as a bluetooth headset that I can connect to my laptop and listen to stuff.
Anyone know of a program or can whip out something like this?
anyone know what I'm talking about?
I would like to know about this too
My sound card on my laptop board is out, and shy of buying either a USB headset or a USB soundcard, I have no sound. So if you find anything on this please post. Even if its to connect via ActiveSync or WiFi, either one, just something would be great.
Maybe you upgradet your PC to 4 GB of RAM?
then it is possible that your Mainboard dont support the access to the full 4 GB RAM and just cant access the Memory for the Soundcard. (same happened to me, and i need to look for a BIOS update...)
If this is not true, you can for example Buy a Bluetooth Headset.
Because of my problem with the 4 GB Memory Upgrade i used my bluetooth headset and it worked with sound.
But because i wanted to make my sound loud on loudspeaker i got another crazy idea. (i often have thinks like that)
i enabled the bluetooth of my laptop and used my Laptop as one big external Soundcard.
also tried to use my Touch Pro, but it doesnt support the needed protocol in that direction.
Sound from Touch Pro to Laptop over bluetooth works, but not in the other direction. This would only be possible if we find any other Driver for the Phone.
Another Idea would be to use:
http://www.no23.de/no23web/Live-Audio-broadcasting-webradio-stream-online-radio.aspx?live=1
(didnt found a english webpage)
It is a tool that streams the sound from your PC. (dont know if that works without a soundcard)
you only need a player that plays a stream like that. (VideoLan for example?)
Good luck in your experiments.
If what your talking about is playing sound on your computer from your phone then you need to go into your bluetooth control panel on the PC and go over to the services tab under your devices properties box. Make sure you have the headset protocol checked and a2dp or ad2p whatever it is checked for the stereo. Go into the audio tab of the main window of the Bluetooth control panel and go to the audio tab, click on "Stereo audio player" under your devices section, then click connect. When you start dicking around with your device all sounds should now be played through your computer's speakers and the headset icon should be on the task bar of your phone.

I was just playing around with my laptop last night and was able to do the same thing. My laptop didn't come with bluetooth; however I was able to buy a bluetooth USB dongle at bestbuy for less than 20$. Now I can play music through my laptop speakers from my phone. As far as playing music the other way, with a broken computer sound card... I'm not sure if it will work...
You can By....
1.download and install winamp and nulsoft shoutcast source dsp . www.winamp.com
2.download and install SHOUTcast Distributed
Network Audio Server (DNAS)
3.cofigure acording to your ip adress, port, etc, then configure your router's firewall to allow that port (will play from lan and internet as well).
4. open winamp option>properties>plug-ins>dsp/effect>nullsoft shoutcast source dsp>configure the options like input output....
5.try playing from your windows media player with local adress ,example:- http://192.168.1.112:8080
6.save the play list and copy it to your phone (saves time).
7.on your phone connect wifi , run tcpmp and try playing that playlist .
works on my wing , dash and htc fuze . the audio is delayed by couple of seconds .
I have paired this and it works perfectly if you manually connect to the Serial Port (COM2) but I would like to launch bluetooth and it automatically connect if it is available.
Is this possible on the widcom stack without a mortscript.
Thanks,
Bluetooth won't know it's in range unless Bluetooth is turned on!
If bluetooth is turned on, it'll automatically connect anyway.
I've got a bluetooth FM transmitter for the car, and what I do is use G-Profile to turn on Bluetooth if the phone is on external power (when I connect it to my car charger). Works well, and would do the trick for what you want, I imagine.
