hi, I want to upgrade to Cyanogen Mod 4.1.999, but I would like to know whether if I can just go on using the HSPL10.95.3000 (the old version i guess)? Or must I first install the Haykuro's SPL 1.33.2005?
any help is appreciated, thanks.
No, you do not need the 1.33.2005 SPL.
ok... thank you very much!! So, I think normal HSPL can pretty much installing every rom except Hero Rom is it? thanks once again

xRom requires the 1.33.2005 SPL, no other AOSP (non-hero rom) that i know off requires it. well blur needs it i think.
alright... got it.
thanks a lot. Will now go off to update to CM 4.1.999.
Hi! I'm newbe so if i did smth wrong, take my apologises.
Can anyone who already got official Froyo on his Legend (i've read that Vodafone got it) show how it looks without HTC Sence? I think that the pure froyo's design, like on Nexus One, is the best and i will be very disappointed if HTC will add something to froyo for Legend. Thank you!

1. Question section is elsewhere...http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=596
also see http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=610
2. look around a bit, Custom ROMs as Juicy, CM 6 and other(senseless) ROMs are what you want..

I know that 32a has more ram and different frequency than 32b but can i flash a 32a rom on a 32b? Will there be any difference in functionality?

if you do it may be slower because you do not have as much ram as a 32a dose
Thanks! I am kind of new to this stuff. I want to port a ROM that was made for 32A over to 32B. It's called Superhero - in mt3g section. Any tips on how to do that?

Sure I would like to know how. Do I have to know any type of programming language?
By the way, I flashed it thinking it was also for 32B g1. Then I flashed a 2708 kernel. It booted and everything but wifi was broken along with the camera.

I changed wlan.ko but it did not help. Anything else I should change? What files should I change to get the camera to work?
Hey guys i've got a simple question for you all. The question is, that are G1 roms compatible with the HTC Magic (32b). The reason i ask is because i just installed CyanogenMod 7.0.1 unofficial (SlashDW) rom on my phone, and it works perfectly fine.
Also, when you see roms in Rom Manager, they say for Sapphire/Dream G1 so i'm thinking, that it must be compatible. Also the roms which i see in rom manager, when i try to search them here, they all come under the g1 development sub board, so this leads me to think my theory is correct.
If i am correct, how are we meant to know, whether the rom is for 32b or 32a? or does it not matter? Sorry if they're simple questions, but i just flashed my first rom today so don't have much experience.
Anyways thanks for your help in advance.
depends on the rom... if it has auto-kernel or just a magic kernel than it will work for you... it's Ebi0 or Ebi1...
Thanks for the reply but please could you elaborate a little more, as i still don't understand fully. Cheers .
In the magic section they are generally specified by radio and if they are 32a or 32b. You just need to look at the title of the thread or the OP will normally tell you when you read it.
This will work on both
Ginger yoshi 1.4 (android 2.3.5) for 32b and 32a old and new radio
And this will only work with the NR (New Radio 6.32.13.19) which is not compatible with the G1
(ROM)CM7.1(2.3.5)Sapphire32a(NR-6.35.16.19)
While this one is only good for Old Radio's and 32A
[ROM][32A][6.35] CGX-Magic 1.0.4 (Android 2.3.5) 5 September 2011

This page will tell you the differences in the Magic 32A/B, and how to tell which you have. The HTC Dream/T-mobile G1 uses the same 32B board as some Magics.
As the two boards are very similar, many newer ROMs are built to use an installation script to auto-detect which kernel to use (the boot.img), but the rest of the system will be identical. In the descriptions for the ROM, look for words like "auto kernel" or "EBI0/EBI1".
I recommend the Bananna Bread rom. Works with mine Flawlessly amazing, and based on CM i think
who helps?
Hello! My name is Kevin, but you can call me SMOR3S.. I am a nerd, brony, musician, artist, and erm... an excellent cookie maker :3
I recently got a new phone from my friend Joseph.. The Google G1 (HTC Dream).. It was free, so I couldn't complain at all... In the past, I have owned a few droids like the Motorola Cliq XT, and the LG Thrive, which honestly weren't anything special.. I already bought an unlock code for my AT&T prepaid SIM card, so that is taken care of.. I'll get into the system specs, like OS version, then I'll ask some questions...
Model: Google G1 (HTC Dream)
OS: CyanogenMod
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-6.1.0-DS
OS Version: 2.2.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.9-cyanogenmod [email protected] #2
Baseband Version: 62.50SC.20.17U_2.22.23.02
Build Number: FRG83
Okay.. That does it for the specs I think..
Joseph put this version of Android on before he shipped it out.. I'm not the best when it comes to droid modding, since I never touched my other phones before, but I would like to learn, and I would like to make my Google G1 a bit speedier..
I have a 4GB Micro SD, with everything, that I could, moved to it.. Joseph also said, that he made a second partition, and moved something to it.. I forget what he said, but he said it made the OS faster erm... He works in a Linux server facility that does things like asp.net, so I don't doubt his expertise..
My question is... What things could I possibly do to my droid, that could speed it up more.. I already looked into OCing programs, but the ones I have found, don't support my phone..
Process load time is a bit slow also.. Like using Facebook, Dolphin, TweetDeck etc... I don't have anything, other than 6 apps, on the main desktop windows..
Thanks...
Sorry if my terminology isn't the best..

ok cool your friend obviously knew what he was doing as he basically gave you an already perfectly modded phone well there are lots you could do but as said most of these include changing roms now those spects i asked you for they determin what kind of roms you can use there are lots of roms developed on here in the g1 android developmentsection.the first thing you might want to do tho is upgrade that RADIO AND HBOOT as there are now newer versions you have alot to learn but here is a lil push.
the first thing you should know is BE VERY CAREFULL DOING STUFF ESPEIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO THAT HBOOT.
you want to install a recovery you will need to know about android sdk(just a program you will use to use a computer to interact with the phone google and download it where he talks about fastboot or adb it is included in the android sdk program) amon ra recovery
here is a rom that dosnt need you to mess with that hboot cron mod rom
btw i asummed you had a rooted phone meaning it gives you full access to file system if you dont just get it via a program named superoneclick

Thank you so much.. I really want to mod my phone, like I do computers, so I am whiling to learn, all that there is to learn.. The phone is already rooted, and I have access to "Superuser", but should I unroot the phone, and re-root it, via SuperOneClick?

Oh sorry... I need to read better :3
*EDIT* So I put the RA v1.7.0 Recovery on... I am still in need of updating my radio before I flash the ROM to CronMod 1.0.6.
This thread about CronMod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641692), says, that I can have either the HBOOT as version, 1.33.2005, or 1.33.0013d. I currently have 1.33.2005, but should I update it to 1.33.0013d?. Also, what radio should I update to, cause my current radio is 2.22.23.02.
Thanks,
- SMOR3S
read up on ezterrys thread on the ram hack 2708+ update, make sure you read the whole op first as changing firmwares can result in a brick
just search the first few pages of the developers thread and you'll find it

Link, and did you read my post thoroughly?
yes I did, the thread I am refurring to will give you the .13d hboot which will give you 14mb more ram, this is HUGE for the g1 and would recommend doing this. just be carefull as playing with firmware (radio, spl) can cause a brick if you don't know what you need.
yes you can use the radio/spl you have now as it will still work with many roms, if you would like more (and in my opinion) better rom choices then I suggest changing your spl, not saying cronmod is bad, its quite good, but better with the ram hack and many other nice roms are only avalible to you with the .13d spl
