So with the Baseband and Firmware version stated in my first post, I can root my N1 using the link you provided ?
Thanks for replying. And btw, is there any possibility that I will brick my phone ? I am really scared since I just got it today
You can brick your phone but its unlikely, Just watch the video the guy above me showed and it will be easy.

Just curious, did your N1 come with that radio and build number or did you manually update them yourself?
Also, could provide your N1's part number, located underneath the battery? I'm curious as to what revision of the phone your have. I just got a replacement phone and the part number is one revision higher than my old N1. My replacement phone came with the previous radio and build number. Thanks.

I have quick question ! I followed the instruction on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612858

What should I do next ? Do I have to install superboot or flash the Recovery image ? And please, how do I do that ?
Thanks in advance

Hello everyone,
I am Stringbeanz. I just recently bought a G1 and I'm loving it! However i do hear this and that about Rooting/Jailbreaking/Modding and that sort to the G1 and I'm deeply interested in it. I have read a bunch of different threads about it but i seem to be stuck in a confused state. If someone would kindly be able to post the links to any downloads needed and maybe some text or videos to help guide me on my path to a Rooted G1 that would be awesome!
Thanks again!

Hey guys i followed the instructions and i was able to downgrade to rc29 but for some reason i keep gettin stuck somewhere..... When i load the phone and press enter twice on the home screen the slider slides open and close and then i type telnetd and press enter again. then i proceed to download Telnet and i press enter twice and i have a ## prompt. then i type in all the codes on separate lines.... Is there supposed to be a confirmation after the last one? And does anyone have the latest link to JF 1.42 rc33? or the latest one for US? thanks a bunch.
P.S what files am i currently supposed to have on my SDcard? do i still need DREAIMG.nbh since i have rc29 already? and what files do i need to have when i am proceeding to telnet? Sorry for all the questions im such a noob lol.....
Everyone's gotta start somewhere. I can't help you with the rooting process since I bought an Adroid Dev Phone that comes totally unlocked/rooted straight out of the box, but at least I can point you in the direction of the latest JF RC33: http://jf.odiness.com/v1.42/JFv1.42_RC33.zip

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean when you boot the phone up by holding Home and Power?
Well i was trying to follow JF's steps and when i held the camera button and power i saw the skating androids and his post says thats from the Hard SPL. i let it boot and i pressed enter on the home screen and typed in
cd sdcard<press enter>
sh install<press enter>
and it was supposed to reboot but it didn't
so im trying to figure what to do now. Gah so confusing!
Thanks for all the help guys! I got my G1 rooted and rockin!

I've searched for this information high and low, can you post a link to some good instructions or possibly write your own? I wanna root my new DMD64 G1 I just received.
This is what I could find, but nobody has confirmed anything for me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=658399
The best place to start:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
i recently rooted a new g1 for my frien that had the new radio update. go to theunlockr.com and follow the procedure dor rooting a donut phone. it worked for me. just be sure to give yourself some time and patience. after you complete that process check your radio and spl. you may need to update radio then flash spl and rom of your choice.

Ok, thanks, but... I'm still a bit confused: all the instructions I've seen for upgrading to Android 2.1 say to use cyanogenmod, but the cyanogenmod site says that it is based on Android 1.6 (according to cyanogenmod.com/about), so is that really what I'm supposed to use?

I apologize, stupid SEO plugin was rewriting the url and messing up a seperate plugin. Links are now working if you still need to upgrade.
My tutorial shows you how to root and upgrade everything and install cyanogenmod 4.2.15.1 if you want to try the 2.1 version which is in testing, go to the cyanogenmod repository on my site, go into the testing folder for the G1 and download that rom instead. Use that rom instead of 4.2.15.1 as the final step.

Follow the directions on the main post.
If you have gtalk pm me your gtalk email and I'll try and step you through it if you absolutely can't figure it out.
Thanks for all the answers! I think I have a good understanding of what I need to do now, so here goes...
*crosses fingers*
I'm following the instructions on myhangoutonline.com.
Well, so far so good, with some minor hiccups:
During the downgrade your phone step, when the phone says "Press the action key" after step 6, it's talking about the trackball button. Took me a little while to figure that out.
However, after I pressed it, it just went back to the initial multicolor gradient screen, with the addition of a line in the middle that said "Serial0". (maybe it was there before, but I missed it?) I ended up having to pull the battery because I could figure out how to make it reboot.
After reboot I had to go through the Google sign in process. Not a big deal, but it'd be nice to mention that this is necessary.
Upgrading recovery seemed to go pretty much as described. On to the apparent dangerous step of upgrading the radio & spl!
Uh oh! It looks like something didn't work. I started up in recovery mode, but there's no option in the menu for "Mount SD card".
I tried going to console, then "ls /sdcard", but no files show up, and /sdcard doesn't show up as a mounted filesystem when I run "mount".
I couldn't figure out how to get out of the console ("exit" just took me back to a "press enter" prompt, and then back into the console), so I ended up pulling the battery again.
Now what? Should I try upgrading recovery again?
So, the only thing holding me back was voiding the warranty and the fact I have a rogers phone (build EPE54B).... so I think I have to flash the build to the one that matches the update?
Sooooo if anyone wants to point me in the safest, easiest direction... I would appreciate it... and dos and don't would be appreciated as well. I am new to the phone an android, so feel free to dumb it down.
Does the build actually mean anything? What happens once I change it... and official updates come out? I am going to cut the grass... and then root, so help me out (preferably someone that is on rogers and has done this)
thx in advance! Froyo or Brick, here I come!
had a long day with chores and family day.... but I am back at it, first tutorial down and it seems solid...
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
onward!

thx jack, I appreciate it.... sorry for the thread... but in my experience... it is easier having your hand held by someone experienced.... then assuming I am following the right one, lol.... so I follow that entire thread to go from rogers to whatever build I need? heh
I will try this in approx 2 hours.... when the yard work is done!
early quick question, when I go to "CyanogenMod"
it takes me to a thread, but I do not see the download, what am I not seeing? heh
I am at this part
Type: fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0.img
it says cannot load image recovery? thx
well everything was working great up until this point, tried it 100 times, heh... so now I sit and wait for guidance? thx
Mr.Kakarot, have you put the .img in the same folder as fastboot? Or, alternatively, if fastboot is in your PATH, you won't have this problem.
i renamed the image to recovery.img and that seemed to work? I will continue after supper!

followed that first thread to a T and it worked out... had 2 minor stalls but I got through it... I am doing this stuff off and on, thx for that thread... this is going to be a STUPID question I am sure... but following that first thread, what have I done? unlocked, rooted and installed google add ons? phone looks awesome, I will do the rest after supper!
hmmm, got it, lol
done, running 2.2.... so tomorrow at work, i guess I will see if I have any issues....
now that this is done, can I re install that sense ui? What should I do or try now that I have done those 2 tutorials? thx
first off there are no 2.2 froyo/sense roms available as of yet.. so if you want to use a desire rom youre more than likely going to want to downgrade to the latest 2.1 radio that works well with your carrier/area, as froyo has its own radio and needs it to run properly.. once you downgrade.. nandroid>wipe>flash
yea, I did not know it would put me back to 2.1, lol.... went back and then back again to 2.2, lol... sense sure looked good!
Any ideas, suggestions, tips for 2.2? I installed flash! thx
How stable is your phone with the Froyo radio? Any unexplained reboots yet?
well it was quite late by the time I did it, I was playing with it, went to a few flash websites.... and no reboots or shutdowns, I also just woke up.... so I will know today after a full day work/playing, thx
one of the bugs is my camera does not work for video... so I have to update the radio, any suggestions! thx
Nope thats pretty much what you need to do is update the radio
thanks, but I am not gonna lie... still not sure which are radios, roms, senses, lol.... could you point me to the one I need.... or does it matter? thx, I just do not want to brick, obviously!
Also, I did not do this step.... is this what I need to do, or is it unrelated?
11) You should still have root, but if you want BusyBox (or lost root somehow), Cyanogen has done it again! Go back into Recovery and flash froyo-rooter-signed.zip. Then Titanium Backup will work once again.
does not sound like something I need or use, so I did not do it....
as far as stability... my 3g signal looked low all day... but I never had a dropped call, instability or any reboots/crashes.... all is well! thx
go here:

havent had problems with the older one, but am going to try the new one just to see.

and then i ran
2.6.34_AVS-925mV_CFS_1113Mhz_061210.zip
anytime I run setcpu, I get this error
the application process com.mhuang.overclocking has stopped unexpectedly, please try again?
"uninstalled and reinstalled, worked. thx"
