is there a way to have your home wallpaper at just 480x320 resolution where it just stays in the same place & doesn't scroll behind the icons? without using a home replacement app.

I am not sure what the previous post meant? You need to compile your own launcher with eclipse. When you download the source from git, there is a launcher.java file which allows you to change the number of homescreens. I am trying to figure out how to do the actual compiling. If you find out let me know.
I think I have this figured out. When I am able to make a 3 screen launcher, I will also do a 1 screen, and post it for you.
what he wants or wants to know, is if it can be set up to make his icons more from screen to screen, but have his wallpaper not move (now it moves a little bit left or right when you slide to a different screen.) I have never seen such a thing myself to stop this from happening.
the "wallpaper set and save" app worked perfectly. thank you
Wallpaper Plus
well you can use wallpaper plus but its a paid app but it works and you can also crop the selected image for the single screen and that'' leave it as one image but will suck in landscape since its cropped and wont strecth but i suggest it, works very well

what I do is, I take a 320x480 image and use wallpaper set and save app, and the wallpaper doesn't move just my 5 screens do, but I don't know if thats a possibility on the stock rom, I;m using CyanogenMod 4.2.3.1
what someone should do is make it to where itll show a DIFFERENT wallpaper for every screen...

2 things:
Make sure all of your wallpapers are 960x800.
I'd recommend using either Flikie HD, or Zedge. Personally I use Flikie, and when I find a new wallpaper, I put it in the Flikie/wallpaper folder, and load it like normal; selecting Flikie, navigate to your flikie wallpaper folder and it'll set the wallpaper proportional to the screen
Both Flikie and Zedge have a great selection of wallpapers too
Flikie is not bad! I'm crazy about it recently!
I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about but..
1. First make sure the resolution is correct
2. If you tap on the orange border arrows should come up and then you can use them to resize. I couldn't figure it out for the longest time.
Orange square is for resizing when choosing wallpapers. Drag the corner of it to make it as big as possible
People keep asking me how i get my wallpaper to change colors. Well, let me tell you how...
MultiColor / MultiWallpaper
All you need to acheive this simple effect is:
1. MultiPicture Live Wallpaper app
2. Simple Android wallpapers in multiple colors. (*.png preferably)
3. Any Launcher
4. Minimal Skill
Instructions:
1. Plan your layout: What makes this effect work is a simple layout. In the vid, i used a simple android background coupled with Minimalistic text and SwitchPro Switches.
2. Choose a wallpaper with few colors. (makes the effect better)
3. Create copies of that wallpaper in different colors. (this can be done in photoshop) I have a small collection of multi-colored wallpapers in the "Shared Files" section of my blog.
However, I can do this for the first five people who request it. Just Post the background you want "multi-colorized" <- my word
4. Make sure wallpapers are on your SD where you can find them.
5. Install MultiPicture Live Wallpaper from market.
6. On your device, select LiveWallpapers for your background and choose MultiPicture Live Wallpaper.
7. In the "MPLW" settings "Add individual settings" for all your screens.
8. In each screen setting select the same wallpaper group. just use a different color for each screen.
9. Make sure you set "Transition type" as "Wipe". (you can try others, but "wipe" gives the best effect)
10. Once everything is set, go back "Home" and watch the magic as you slide across screens.
Enjoy!

can you do this one?
I'm not sure how controllable this is but I have 5 home screens the center is the main and i can scroll twice to left or twice to right.
can i make it so the default wall (the one uploaded) is the center and the two to the right and left are colored? I like black background so if possible can the drawing just change from grey/white to say yellow, blue, green, red (two of those colors one way, two the other?

Well I made a lockscreen with my favorite Touhou character <3
The artwork is made by walfas himself~
That's how it looks.
I hope you like it~
PS: It's a transparent PNG so you have to send it via Mail to your phone or use the Windows Phone Device Manager.
Edit: Made a new one. I will update this thread with new lockscreens
I like the fact, that the transparent stuff is black at first. So I made this cute one with little Okuu and Orin~
Edit2: I just noticed, that my PNGs get converted into JPG when I upload them here D: I added links to them. You can treat the attachments as thumbnails

EDIT:
Since transparent PNGs aren't working in Mango anymore I'll post my current Utsuho Lockscreen ;P

Musashi Lock Screen
So i am a bit of a Japanese culture fan and love my Samurai so i made this one based on an illistration of him. I cannot attach it though, how did you get the jpg uploaded and avoid the file type check?
(for now i have zipped it up, just save, unzip and email it to your phone)
The attached png is for preview only, hope you like
For some reason I can't get the lockscreens to work, I did everything as it said, did I miss anything or am I supposed to do something else to the phone before I set the lockscreens? If I could get some help I would really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you have to either email the png( image) or copy to device through windows device manager.... and set it as lockscreen... and it is black but when you touch the screen you can see through it....
THANKS!!!
Thanks. I'll go back step by step, see if I did anything wrong if not, I'll have to do it through WDM. Also can regular pics be turn into see through lockscreens? I got a couple that I would like to see as transparent in my lockscreen. Thanks again
In PhotoShop anything is possible lol if you post them to a pm I'll have a go at tweaking it.

Bingo!!
I just figured out why the screens didn't want to work. Apparently taking my pasword lock off was the solution. If I put the password lock back on it doesn go transparent. I guess that's the price you pay for having a great looking screen
Excuse my ignorance, but how do you go around saving this thing anyway? It only allows me to save in .jpg format when i open in my browser i.e. chrome, IE mailing the jpg to my phone doesn't seems to have the transparent effect

Save the jpeg on your desktop. Now right click on it, and open with paint (The windows paint program.) Once its open, click the file/save as, and change from jpeg to png. Now email it to your self. Open the attachment on your phone, and save as wallpaper.
Job done.

Done that, but still it doesn't gives the transparency effect =S, it just came up with white b/g. I use win 7 default paint program to convert
Windows Paint doesn't support the 6bit transparency of a 32bit png. You have to use either Photoshop, GIMP, paint.NET, etc. When you save it it has to be a 32bit PNG. Also you have to send it via mail or use the WP Device Manager. ZUNE doesn't support PNGs. The transparent stuff is black unless you touch the lockscreen.
RE: Help
Hello Everyone,
I am using paint.net software and I can't seem to get it right. Please teach me on how to do this!!!
Don't bother with it when you plan to update to Mango since it doesn't support translarent PNGs anymore. I'll post my current Lockscreen in my first post instead
RE: Transparent Lock Wallpapers
Hello Everyone...I can confirm that transparent Lock Wallpapers still work for Mango...I used paint.net to edit the wallpaper and emailed it to myself and the transparent wallpaper works...Oh and I can also confirm that using a password works with transparent wallpaper as well...
So i have been trying to get a black background that is truly black.
everything i have tried has left a slight hue on the background. back 2 black is not supported or i would have tried that.
is there any way to get background to remain off completely and only light the pixels for the icons, clock, notification etc etc. i notice the info bar at the top is darker than my black background and no matter what i cant get the background to go completely black.
my reasoning is if i make the icons into line art, and keep as much of the screen off wherever i can i can stretch battery life even further. it worked wonders on my gs2. But having a slightly glowing background ruins all that.
I'm not sure whether it's supported, but you can try making a monochrome bitmap-file (.bmp) in MsPaint. At least you are sure this way that the black is truly black.
Have you tried using different launchers? Are you sure the hue is not just your icons giving some 'bleeding'?
thanks, i will give that a try.
its the same with go launcher and touchwiz. its actually magnified on the lockscreen showing lots of banding.
Try this pic. I use it on mine and looks black

My first Note did this so I sent it back. My new one does not do it.
still no luck, apps with black backgrounds look fine.
i tried an all black bitmap and that didnt work either.
is there any way to turn background off and just leave it blank? would that give me a pure black background?
like i said i dont think its a hardware problem since the app backgrounds look deep black unlike the wallpaper. i did see something about the note only being 16 bit and that was causing weird display issues due to scaling or something, blah blah.
its using 24bits
thats right, the note is 24 bit and the os operates in 16 bit currently, right? either way i need to find a way to fix it.
I used a plain black GIF. Works fine for the home screen background, but on lock screen it has barely noticeable dark gray lines in it until you touch it and the unlock symbol appears.
here is the one i made
this black is one color 24 bit png on my note it is completely black at any brightness. let me know if it works. 800 x 1280 black correct dpi blackground

or download "no wallpaper" from the market - simple app that just adds a wallpaper that is totally black. Works a treat.
Try an app called COLOURS by Tim Clark
