Hello
I hope that some Lebanese users of N1 managed to get Alfa Wap to work

When I read the thread title I had the same reaction at first! LOL...
And Here, I know I probably waste more forum space than I should, but if I can't contribute anything else I fall back on humor.
How do you get it work?
All I can find is APN name wap.mic1.com.lb
Proxy, Port 80 and username/password
Did you changed any other parameters?
No, not at all. But you know there is a kind of bug with the data connection; i.e. if you're not constantly connected, you need to reboot to be able to re-connect. Maybe that's your problem.
Check the threads below:

I am using the Desire ROM so no problems about this. I am sure my settings are missing!
What are the MMSC and server settings?
Server: not set
MMSC: not set
MMS proxy: not set
MMS port: not set
MCC: 415
MNC: 01
Authentification type: PAP or CHAP
I am getting ''Access Denied'' in the browser
I am using Port 80 and 8080 but none work
Try to call them...although I doubt they've heard about android

I was in Beirut for a few weeks in Febuary and I had absolutely no luck getting Alfa GPRS to work on the N1. I just gave up eventually and haunted places with wifi when I needed my data fix.
This is the Email reply I got from Alfa:
Dear alfa user
Thank you for your e-mail. Please be informed that the wap service is not compatible with your mobile phone. However, you may activate the GPRS service only in case you have an alfa classic line. You may also find below the different GPRS offers:
Formula 1: 50 Mb package for 10$/month or 15,075LBP/month
Formula 2: 120 Mb package for 15$/month or 22,613LBP/month
Formula 3: 250 Mb package for 25$/month or 37,688LBP/month
I don't want to turn my prepaid line into fixed one and pay 30$ more just for that
I am pretty sure there is a way to make it work like they did on iphone...

+1 gprs working for me
Why would the GPRS works and not WAP? This is nonsense
Could Alfa block android platform via proxy on purpose?
Got finally a more complete answer from Alfa but I don't know why when I try to save with MNC 03 instead of 01 the APN doesn't save and disapear!!
Can someone try it?

how do we get MMS without the t-mobile g1 data plan?
I dont think its possible. I guess you can get Chomp SMS and pay for it there which could be cheaper but i dont know if it supports MMS...
i cant really help you . but i can say that its worth the 20 or 30 bucks for the internet plan
Agreed with G-Fetus. Plus you can always tell people to e-mail it to your gmail and you can download the attachment from there.
ok this worked for me...
Goto
Menu -> Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> T-Mobile US
Make sure you go into T-mobile US and not any other settings.
Change the settings to the following:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: wap.voicestream.com
proxy: 216.155.165.050
port: 8080
Username: not set (delete everything in this field)
Password: not set (delete all here too)
Server: not set (delete the *)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS Port: 8080
MMC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: not set
Restart your phone. Now your MMS should work.
*Troubleshooting*
1. If you’re having trouble still, go into mobile networks and enable ‘data roaming’ and ‘use only 2G’
- I've tried this and it seems to be working for me.. this is the only solution i know..

does this still work? i heard t-mobile blocked G1s from using this
it still works on mine..
I tried that on my phone because I am having the same problem. Doesn't work for me. Although I didn't edit the T-Mobile US APN, I made a new one, if that somehow matters.
If anyone has figured out anything on how to get mms messages to work without a data plan please let me know. Everything else on my phone works perfectly.
I figured my new friend [girl] had sent the picture to my gmail instead of text. I'd like this to.
Hi all,
I am currently unable to use internet via EDGA / 3G, and at the moment i can only use WiFi at home or anywhere with open wifi.
Im living in UK using O2 network pay as you go sim
well I found the O2 APN settings (as below):
Name: O2 WAP POST PAY
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Proxy: 193.113.200.195
port: 8080
Username: o2wap
Password: password
server: not set
mmsc: http :// mmsc . mms . o2 . co . uk : 8002 (i have to put space in between because To prevent spam to the forums, new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed.)
mms proxy: 193.113.200.195
mms port: 8080
mcc: 234
mnc: 10
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: internet + mms
after I put all the settings in then turn the phone off and back on (as O2 said on their website) there are nothing changes, no EDGE / 3G (red and green blinking) icon appears on the notification bar
so are there any expert can help me solve this problem ?
p.s. I never root or flash my phone, all firmware are OEM version (Android 2.1 I90000ZSJG4)
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND YOUR HELP
to start with the APN doesn't seem right
wap.o2.co.uk
it should be something like
internet.o2.co.uk (or whatever happens to be the readl thing)
wap.o2.co.uk suggest you are restricted only to WAP services, which does not include internet

but thats what i seen from o2 uk website itself and other people told me
however, when i change the wap to internet as what you said, it still doesn't work at all, there is no EDGE / 3G (red and green blinking) icon appears on the notification bar
I have an unlocked Captivate that I took with with me from the states and I signed on to the Rogers network up here in Canada. I can recieve voice and text on the phone but cannot receive data even with the data plan, I'm sure it must be a quick fix but Rogers was no help (not that I thought they would be) as well I'm not sure where on the phone to go to enter in an IP address other than the Wi-fi settings where it says set up wifi and manage waps? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You probably need to add the Rogers APN
Here it is:
Rogers
For Internet
Name: Rogers
APN: internet.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Leave all other settings Blank.

Click to collapse
For MMS
Name: Rogers MMS
APN: media.com

Password: mda01

MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: mms

Honestly dont know where it is on the captivate since I dont own it or any other android phone but it should be something under network or something like that.
Edit: Found it here
Settings>Wireless and Network>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names - Menu > New APN
Edit part deux:
If the APN for internet I posted doesn't work try the ones ranova posted on the link above.
APN: internet.com
Primary gateway IP: 172.25.0.107
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Click to collapse
or
APN: internet.com
Username: guest
Password: guest
MMS Settings:
MMSC: mms.gprs.rogers.com
APN: media.com
Username: media
Password: mda01

but I'm not sure where to enter the primary gateway ip, would that be under server? Sorry noob question probably.
No clue, maybe? Just try filling the APN info with what I posted and reboot the phone and try it, it should work with one of those APN settings, whatever is not listed just leave it blank.
I dont own a captivate so cant really check what goes where
has anyone tried these info? I tried the mms and it doesn't help me dowload the mms.
Data (evdo) does not work on my wifes droid flashed to cricket...i have a feeling thay it has to do with the APN settings.every time you open the internet it has a proxy setting saying something with verison and no evdo even in notification bar.....can someone help a poor noobie???

why not look up the APN settings for your carrier and fill them in manually?
there's a wonderful tool on the forum, it's labelled "search", where such information magically is displayed in front of you...
... try it! it's AMAZING!
BTW this is Milestone Dev...
There is an specific forum for that...
Wow thanks for the smartass remark!!! I do not know if i change the APN settings if it will make the data work.am i on the right track.i thought i could come here and ask advice from some knowledgeable people, but i guess no one knows but the jackasses.

I asked questions before on the wrong forum. It happens. by the way, welcome to Xda-developers, and ignore the jerks above. Everyone started somewhere and needed help at times, clearly the two above have never needed help, must have been born with a brain to big for their head. Man those migraines must hurt.

On your phone, from the main homescreen (first screen you see when your phone is fully started up) press the Menu button (has 3 lines, small, 1 longer line on top) select "Settings", "Wireless & Networks", "Mobile NEtworks", "Access Point Names". From this screen you should see either a list of names. Mine says "AT&T - wap.cingular, etc. If you do not see anything, select Menu (4 lines) and Press "New APN" from there it will list all the info for you to manually input your phone carriers settings. Should look like this:
Name:
APN:
Proxy:
Port:
Username:
And the list goes on. Just input the information I listed above with the corresponding headlines.

Is there any reason why when using the CM7 rom that the Gameloft WAP site does not recognise the phone?
Is there a setting that I must change or summit?
Please help...
Thanks
J
I believe it's better to post to CM Forums if they have!
Tried asking on the CM7 forum - not much help there...
Anyone kind enough here to help?
J
Hi, do you mind if you rephrase this: Gameloft WAP site??? Sorry, my english is bad. xP
WAP? as in your internet WAP or Gameloft server???
WAP = Wireless Application Protocol. Which means your mobile internet? Or the website's mobile site?
If your APN(Access Point Name) is under GPRS WAP and not GPRS INTERNET, i doubt you can't access the webpage. I believe your meaning of WAP = Gameloft mobile site. (e.g. m.facebook.com), Go to setting>Wifi/network...>Mobilenetwork>Access point name. If you have your option at: XXXXXX WAP(GPRS), Deselect and choice one like: XXX INTERNET.
Give it a try. Its harmless.
Thanks for your input.
My APN name is: T-Mobile UK
The APN is set: general.t-mobile.uk
Tried changing these and still cannot access the mobile Gameloft website.
Says Phone or Network not recognised.
I have no problem accessing other mobile websites.
Any more suggestions?
Thanks
J
Hmm, add this new APN:
Name: (Anything/Watever you want)
APN: epc.tmobile.com
The rests are blank (not set) until you get to MMSC.
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy & port are <not set>
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: <not set>
Or/And also try:
APN: wap.voicestream.com
IP address: 216.155.165.050
Data bearer: GPRS
Username: [none]
Password: [none]
Authentication type: Secure
Connection security: Off
And see how it works... Goodluck... Btw, remember to save and select the profile and then go to that gloft Site.
None of these suggestions work either.
It just will not access the mobile gameloft site.
It keeps displaying this message: -
We've either not recognized your mobile operator or no games are available for your mobile phone.
If you are using a web browser or a wifi connection, please try to connect with your wap browser.
Any more help or suggestions...?
The stock rom had no problems but CM7 does...
Thanks
