I've done some googling to no avail. Hopefully someone here might know the answer. Is it possible to stream audio from my PC to my phone? To be specific, I would like to listen to the audio coming from my PC i.e. if I'm watching a movie I'd like the movie's audio steaming from the device, not music. I'm also not talking about watching movies from my PC on the device i.e. Orb. Thanks for any help!
could you clarify it a different way? do you mean play just the audio on your phone while watching a movie on the pc?
i use subsonic to play music on my phone that resides on my pc with a server app on my pc.
you could also use streamfurious if you have a shoutcast playlist stream set up already
seeing what you guys were talking about, i remembered that i have winampremote instaled in my pc at home, and went to get the aplic from the market to use in my N1 (went also to another site to get the server app to install in my pc. it all worked well and i get access to my library at home. i see the names of the music, etc etc. the only thing that is not working is the sound (I can't hear anything ) is it possible the N1 phone couldn't play this kind o. streams?
if some of you could give a tip i would be much appreciated. i'm trying over the net and not kn my lan...

So back in high school I used setup a simple HTTP server that allowed me to browse my music on the schools computers and play it there through VLC player. I figure since I have 160GB of music (way more than I can fit on my phone) I could probably do the same thing, but the problem I'm facing is what app would I use to browse the music?
Any ideas on how I could do this? Over the 3G network it should be ok, at least no worse than pandora and I would have access to all of my music.
Have a look at orb.. you can set it up to stream your entire media library to your device (even videos). It will auto-encode to a supported format and adapt the bit rate to your network speed. It's pretty sexual.

go get GMote, best app I've seen yet, works over wifi and 3G/Edge.
Another one for gmote.
Yet another vote for gmote here.
Gmote does not auto convert and will not play .avi. I use it exclusively for music, but I have never been able to get the video to play on my phone.

OP never asked about video, only music.
I tried out gmote but couldnt get it to work...I have a Belkin wireless router and I dont have a cpu hardwired to it. I messed around with some ports but apparently didnt do it right lol

I saw that. I was responding to the post about Orb. My music works flawlessly on gmote whether I am using wifi or 3g. I definitely give it 3 thumbs up.
Anyone uses this?
We all have gigs of mp3's on our PC's and I found only one app which can simply stream music, using wireless router for connection - Gmote. So this way I plug in my headphones and can listen to anything on my PC from anywhere in the house.
Sadly, it seems that it isn't developing anymore and a lot of my music is encoded in a way that Gmote doesn't like. I think it has problems with variable higher bitrates, maybe.. not sure.
Is there anything else that can do the job? DLNA maybe?
You can easy convert al your MP3-files to a right format.

Let your computer do the job at night, and in the morning you're a smiling human
No way, that would permanently lower sound quality . And PC is also connected to hi-fi
I'd rather find an app that works like it should . DLNA could be beter option, that way PC would recode music on-the-fly, just for listening on Hero. Ill try 2Player, looks promising
u never heard of orb or sugersync or oh there are tooo many to list
Not really the same thing. SugarSync uses "personal cloud", so it's over internet and Gmote uses home network which is free, fast and local. No upload/download.
As far as I remember, Orb was for internet radio? Can't find it on AppBrain.
Anyway, 2Player works with Tversity as DLNA server. Music only. Good to know
Basic question: Can the Cappy be paired to the PS3 via Bluetooth?
What got me thinking about this was seeing some newer A/V receivers that are offering Bluetooth music streaming from your Smartphone/iphone/pod/etc. Since I use my PS3 to stream some music from my computer and I use my phone for Pandora, I was wondering if maybe it'd be possible to stream Pandora from my phone to my PS3.
try to pair it. if it pairs, one step is down.
next depends on what bluetooth profiles are available. look at any "connect to" options on the phone AND ps3.
with my phone and windows, they paired fine but the phone didnt have the headset option until I tried "connect as headset" from the computer side first, now the option is on the phone. MY POINT... it may take pairing them and switching on and off options on the phone and on the ps3 for them to discover all the bluetooth services that are available on eachother...
pandora dont matter, just get the phone connected as headset, or AV receiver, ect. to ps3. IF YOU CAN....
simply put. .. try. and play. and try.
Yes I have done it using allshare

Allshare works well with ps3

AllShare works well, but the OP was asking if he'd be able to stream Pandora and I don't think AllShare would help him do that. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
@OP you can stream from content stored on the phone via wifi. You could also stream from the pc to the ps3 and use the phone as a control iirc.
I have liquidsmooth rom and wen i try downloading allshare it wnt let me install says same applicants with same user id any help
So tonight my wife and I were watching a movie on my laptop when my phone rang (rooted only, stock rom) and i answered it. The movie playing in VLC paused itself and when i hung up the phone it started playing again.
Has anyone else experienced this? I know you can use the VLC Remote to control it but i do not have that installed on the phone. It is also not connected to the laptop via bluetooth but they are connected to the same wireless router.
Update: Conducted a few tests. It does not pause when i watch something on a desktop or any other wireless devices that play movies. I am able to duplicate it as many times as i want to with the laptop though.
Lol.

Hi, has anyone got any ideas on what is going on here?
I have video clips on my C6603 which I shot on the phone and can throw onto my TV screen. I thought it might be fun to download a movie from "Videos Unlimited" but it does not work. The movie downloads fine and plays using the movie app on the phone. However, as soon as I connect the phone to the TV using the 'throw' function, the movie stops playing and I get a "cannot play movie" error message on the phone. If I turn off the 'throw' function, the movie starts playing on the phone again. I checked and the movies are saving to the internal memory not the mounted SD card which I know has been an issue for some.
I am pretty sure this is supposed to work and movies downloaded onto the phone should "throw" onto my TV but cannot work out why I am unable to do this.
Anybody experience the same issue (or not?) or know how to fix this?
Thanks
L

All of the posts I could find seemed to relate to problems with media stored on external SD cards. If there is a thread that addresses my specific issue then I would be grateful if you could point me to it.
Thanks.

Uhhh try throwing your Z towards it maybe it works

This might be due to fkn DRM protection issues. What TV do you use ? Does it support everything it should in this matter ? If yes, I think you should try contacting Sony about this issue, especially if it's Bravia TV.
"Uhhh try throwing your Z towards it maybe it works "
Yeah, "throwing movies to my tv" sounds a bit funny, Sony should have seen jokes about it coming
Actually, I have tried direct with a Bravia TV and also via an Xbox 360. In both cases, movies shot on the phone work but movies downloaded fail. What I don't understand is why, when the phone is in 'throw' mode the native movie player app on the phone fails.
