Basic question: Can the Cappy be paired to the PS3 via Bluetooth?
What got me thinking about this was seeing some newer A/V receivers that are offering Bluetooth music streaming from your Smartphone/iphone/pod/etc. Since I use my PS3 to stream some music from my computer and I use my phone for Pandora, I was wondering if maybe it'd be possible to stream Pandora from my phone to my PS3.
try to pair it. if it pairs, one step is down.
next depends on what bluetooth profiles are available. look at any "connect to" options on the phone AND ps3.
with my phone and windows, they paired fine but the phone didnt have the headset option until I tried "connect as headset" from the computer side first, now the option is on the phone. MY POINT... it may take pairing them and switching on and off options on the phone and on the ps3 for them to discover all the bluetooth services that are available on eachother...
pandora dont matter, just get the phone connected as headset, or AV receiver, ect. to ps3. IF YOU CAN....
simply put. .. try. and play. and try.
Yes I have done it using allshare

AllShare works well, but the OP was asking if he'd be able to stream Pandora and I don't think AllShare would help him do that. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.
@OP you can stream from content stored on the phone via wifi. You could also stream from the pc to the ps3 and use the phone as a control iirc.
I have liquidsmooth rom and wen i try downloading allshare it wnt let me install says same applicants with same user id any help

I've done some googling to no avail. Hopefully someone here might know the answer. Is it possible to stream audio from my PC to my phone? To be specific, I would like to listen to the audio coming from my PC i.e. if I'm watching a movie I'd like the movie's audio steaming from the device, not music. I'm also not talking about watching movies from my PC on the device i.e. Orb. Thanks for any help!
could you clarify it a different way? do you mean play just the audio on your phone while watching a movie on the pc?
i use subsonic to play music on my phone that resides on my pc with a server app on my pc.
you could also use streamfurious if you have a shoutcast playlist stream set up already
seeing what you guys were talking about, i remembered that i have winampremote instaled in my pc at home, and went to get the aplic from the market to use in my N1 (went also to another site to get the server app to install in my pc. it all worked well and i get access to my library at home. i see the names of the music, etc etc. the only thing that is not working is the sound (I can't hear anything ) is it possible the N1 phone couldn't play this kind o. streams?
if some of you could give a tip i would be much appreciated. i'm trying over the net and not kn my lan...

Can anyone suggest a dock (like you get for iphones) that works well with this phone. It would need a 3.5mm jack or bt and charging capabilities and good speakers, for loud indoor use. I use a bt sterio in my car.

Well this isn't a perfect solution and since I am waiting for mine to arrive in the post today, it isn't tested but should work in theory.
Sonos S5 Media Player
LG Multimedia Stand
Samba App for Android
Sonos Controller App
As long as both the Media player and the phone are connected to the same network, the player should be able to see the Samba share on the phone and play the music stored on it. You can control what gets played using the Sonos app on your phone.
If the media player is not on the same network as the phone, then you can connect the phone direct using a 3.5mm male/male cable.
my friend has one of these on loan, he controlls it via his iphone and WM HD2. problem is its expensive

the lg multimedia stand is it just a charge stand? without any special function?
Correct, the stand is just a stand. As the phone really needs to be on charge, I just thought it looked better that way.
The setup works really well, the player connects to the phone without any trouble and the sound quality is excellent. It was expensive, but if you like your music it is worth it.
BT sounds great in my car.... think what i need is a BT capable, mini/hifisystem thing... nit much cheap there also. Is there a BT connector you can add to an aux in. would rather do this than via FM transmitter
I use a BT device on my hi-fi system and I just have to connect the phone to it and start playing the music (works with all the phone I have tested so far: iPhone 3GS, HTC Magic, Google Nexus One and SE X10).
The device uses RCA cables to transmit the sound to the hi-fi system and it works great !
What's it called

Here is the device I use but you can find other models. Some of them are able to remote control your phone (next/previous music, play/pause).
Belkin - F8Z492cw (reference name, I'm still not allowed to post external link in my comments)
Check on Google many devices are available on market
gone for this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SAMSUNG-WORLDS-CHANNEL-SURROUND-SPEAKER/dp/B001L8B2O8
i found this which could be modded to suit any phone
do a search for
ipod-dock-adapter-for-the-motorola-droid
I use an FM tranmitter. I made this usb only dock from an ipod/iphone dock from poundland.
https://picasaweb.google.com/stevvie/LGOptimus2XStand?authkey=Gv1sRgCPDbvJa0vc64IQ#
And then attatch my fm transmitter (that I got from hong kong) which works for about 0.5 of a mile (but eats batteries, luckily it take 1 AA and last for about 4-5 hours on 1 rechargable) and then tune what ever radio I want to the transmitter. I can even listen to it in the shower with a cheap battery radio thats water proof.
So tonight my wife and I were watching a movie on my laptop when my phone rang (rooted only, stock rom) and i answered it. The movie playing in VLC paused itself and when i hung up the phone it started playing again.
Has anyone else experienced this? I know you can use the VLC Remote to control it but i do not have that installed on the phone. It is also not connected to the laptop via bluetooth but they are connected to the same wireless router.
Update: Conducted a few tests. It does not pause when i watch something on a desktop or any other wireless devices that play movies. I am able to duplicate it as many times as i want to with the laptop though.
Lol.

Hi Everyone,
I've been looking all over the net for some answers for a DIY Project i'm trying to do.
Basically I want to have buy either ChromeCast or EzCast and connect to my cars AUX double din head unit to mainly mirror Pandora from my Android Mobile (Sony Xperia Z).
The questions I'm hoping to have answered are the following;
1. Can I use ChromeCast or EzCast in my car without being connected to a wireless hotspot or network? Being a car setup, I wont have a hotspot in my car, unless a LTE/4G Dongle, which I don't intend to.
- Will they work by just directly from my Mobile to the Cast dongle?
2. If mirroring Pandora, will the music or the head units display stop when I turn off my Mobiles display? (I dont want to constantly have my display on as that will drain my battery)
3. Which is better EzCast or ChromeCast Dongles?
If someone would be so kind as to answer the above questions for me, I would be greatly appreciative. :good:
Thanks
Not Chromecast - Chromecast requires Internet connection because it's designed to pull content from the Internet.
No. In the cast of Chromecast, Chromecast itself is the device requesting the stream and playing it. Your controlling device is only a control and can be rebooted, disconnected, turn off, etc.
In this case, given your requirement of not having a hotspot/Internet, I would say not Chromecast. I don't know if EzCast is appropriate, so I'll leave that to others.

THIS!
He would be much better off just getting himself an LTE Nexus7, finding a way to mount it that is convenient and wiring it into the Audio system Aux Connection directly or installing a BlueTooth Audio Access point to that aux input that the Tablet or phone can connect to.
Many of today's better Car stereos have an Aux input that will override the input currently selected on the AV unit for use with GPS when it detects an audio signal.
And by dong this you can use the Tablet as a GPS unit as well!
More expensive but you will need the tablet or phone to control the CCast anyway doing what you want to do....
You could just buy a mount that is wired correctly and use your current Phone or Tablet to do this.
Or buy a tablet specifically for this purpose.

Thank god! Cheers guys for the helpful responses, you just saved me alot of time!
Thing is I have an Alpine INA-W900BT head unit, it has bluetooth, it has GPS, it plays videos(not that I've ever used it lol), reverse camera video and the main thing is it sounds amazing! As an amplifier it reproduces great audio. A tablet can't give you that sound clarity and control with the cars audio system/sub.
Annoying thing is BT audio stream though AUX leaves me with a blank display, so I figure i'll try to "cast" it. Atleast this way I should be able to see pandora on the screen.
Maybe the next car i'll do the Tablet DIY similar to this fellow, don't want to spend to much cash on this right now;

For now, just want to mirror or local cast somehow. You're right though, end of the day I'm still going to have to control it with my phone...
Maybe get a Android Smart Box hmmm....
Does anyone know if Ezcast requires a hotspot?
Why don't you use MHL?

Well unfortunately that unit is made more for Apple not Android....
If you have an Apple device and plug it into USB I believe it will display video for control of the device to the screen. But it seems to be limited to iPod and Music storage and makes no mention of things like Pandora. It would appear from the description that plugging in via USB turns the iPod or iPhone into a storage device that the AV unit then loads files from into it's native music player.
This seems to suggest that no matter what you try to use, you will not get control or anything but a blank screen when streaming it as it will all have to plug in via the Aux (even if you don't go BT).
The limitation is really how do you get the audio into the AV unit..I'm sure it has no HDMI ports on it,
And any Audio Breakout you use is going to connect to an Aux port.
This unit you have appears to be just a generation before mobile data in the car was expected....

Contrary to what has been said, this can be done, or say at least I did it and I am waiting for someone to reproduce my results and confirm.
You can stream from your phone directly to your chromecast, provided you activated the mobile WiFi hotspot of same phone (no need for an external router).
