Little more info. What recovery, what rom, stuff like that. If you put all that in your signature, you'll never have to do it again.

Black G1 don't have any other information because when the phone boots it boots to the (!) screen. I'm trying to put rc29 on the phone but I keep getting the: can't find the recovery img file.

How do I find the radio info when the phone always boots to the (!) screen?

What I would suggest doing is trying to install a different ROM. It seems like that directory or something in those directories is bugged or incomplete or something. Try flashing a different ROM.

I can get to the recovery screen. But it keeps giving me the error message. What would be your best advise ? Tryed different roms, but I still get the error message.

Can't get into boot loader..

I'm trying to fix my friends G1, I hold the camera button and power button and only get into the hard reset screen.
I've tried ALT + L and wipe date/factory reset then reboot system now and nothing. All I can get is that hard reset screen.
Also in the system recovery at the bottom it says E: Cant open /cache/recovery/command.
Any ideas? I wanna try to get this thing up and working again. It's bone stock, never got rooted or changed in any way.

I would try loading the original DREAIMG.nbh file onto the sdcard and then try the bootloader option and see if the presence of the nbh file "forces" it to go into bootloader....
Otherwise, I'm pretty stumped...
I've just got a similar problem.
The ONLY thing I can do is entering the Android System recovery (2e) menu.
If I try powering off the phone and:
-Holding home = android system recovery with the reboot system now, apply sdcard:update.zip wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition options.
-holding camera = same thing.
It seems like whatever I try with the little android experience I have and reding on forums high and low, I cannot get ADB working, it doesn't list my device OR connect using adb devices and adb shell.
When trying fastboot It's just waiting for device.
If I try installing from sdcard with the alt-s option it either says verification error (custom roms) or with the signed OTA/original roms it starts/stops like this:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
This is VERY frustrating for me since I have NO idea what version is on it, the 1.5 or 1.6 original rom or some custom rom.
It seems like it's a "standard" rom onboard, but since I cannot get pass the "!" screen whatsoever, ADB doesn't work and fastboot is just waiting for better weather or something, I cannot verify ANYTHING.
I also have a Hero wich is flawless with ANY rom I trow at it, recovery image and radio.
So Any ideas on how to fix this ?
Heh, I really hope there is someone out there that REALLY can help me with this.
Thank you
bump ? someone ???
anyone ?
Plz come up with a solution, I've read and read, but nothing......
btw. I don't like the S.E. k850 !!!
hello
what happened to the phone in the end ? have you managed to unbrick it ?
If holding camera button while powering on gets you to recovery chances are your home button is stuck

Try to enter recovery mode, get warning triangle

I've followed up to step 3 of part III on http://theunlockr.com/2010/01/08/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-nexus-one/
When I select recovery, it shows me the n1 logo with the unlock symbol below it, then it goes to a green android with a warning triangle.
The video shows a recovery screen, and volume up + power doesn't give me the menu with the correct options.
I've tried it plugged in and not.
You didn't flash the recovery correctly, that is the stock recovery screen.
Thanks, that helped.
Well anyway, I downloaded cyanogen from here: http://theunlockr.com/downloads/android-downloads/android-roms/nexus-one-roms/
and when it booted up it kept giving me "x application failed, force close" for pretty much everything, and no matter how many times I hit force close, the messages kept coming.
So I'm trying to recover to stock for now, as I need my phone for tomorrow, and I forgot what my serial/key/build was. Is there anyway of finding that out so I know which ROM to flash?

Did you remove the two scripts like you were told? /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and /system/recovery-from-boot.p

Wipe /data and /cache in recovery before reinstalling the custom rom should address the force close issues.

[Q] possibly bricked my SGT, can anyone help?

Hi, I was trying to make a backup of the ROM on my SGT, but got the following message; "failed to verify whole-file signature", so I tried "recovery 3e modified to work like recovery 2e" but when i restarted my device, it tries to go into recovery-mode, something flashes across the screen, and it stops.. have tried several re-boots, with the same result..
Is there any way to save it, or is it lost?
- Please help
I can fix this with JTAG PM sent...
I got it into download mode, so it was saved by flashing a new ROM

[Q] Failed to verify whole-file signature

Hey everyone, I've had this problem for a while now and have no idea how to fix it.
I've tried to flash some ROMs on my tab since it's gotten laggy as of late.
I've gone to Clockwork and hit "Flash Clockwork recovery" but every time I do so it gives me the option of "Epic 4G" or "Galaxy S i9000"
This obviously doesn't seem right since the tab is neither of those.
Whenever I hit "reboot into recovery mode" I get taken to the Android System recovery screen and in red I get the message
"E: failed to verify whole-file signature.
E: signature verification failed.
Installation aborted."
Anyone know what I can do to fix this?
Not a single person here can help me?
First Step,

Prolly incompatible cwm/kernel/rommanager/root installed.
same problem
i am also getting the same Error message on my samsung galaxy s 4g t-mobile, i used superoneclick to root my phone. i have the superuser app on my phone so my phone is rooted. im trying to apply the audiophile framework update.zip file and i get this message can you help please thank you
There is a difference between rooting and having an alternate recovery installed.
Root gives you the ability to modify system files when running the ROM.
Custom recovery such as clockworkmod allow you to install unsigned files.
Should be easy to search out how to install a custom recovery.

how to accept bluetooth xfer
I have 13 of these tablets and cannot confirm bluetooth xfers on them. A popup comes on screen to do so, but disappears quickly with no button to confirm. I attempted to update with gapps on the recovery screen, and got a Failed to verify whole-file signature error. I know these have good RK3188 cpu's, I would like to get the up and running. suggestions?

[Q] Error whilst using OTA

When trying to install an OTA update I get an error.
The update proceeds almost halfway and then the image on the recovery changes to a phone with a red exclamation mark on it.
The phone still works and I can reboot the phone no problem, however, I would like to get the latest update.
The error message that shows when pressing Vol Up + Power is:
" system/app/Tips_Help.apk has unexpected content. "
The software update is: 4.20.707.6.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

you need to restore the original Tips_Help.apk file either by finding the correct file and pushing it to /system/app or by restoring the phone to 100% stock
