When I enter for example www.msn.com the connection process starts with locating then opening, then white screen ... Looks like I am connected however I do not show the web page. I am able to access Yahoo.com however. I cleared all cookies, did a SR and same problem. This issue happens just recently. The only place where I can see proxy settings is the connection tab, and the proxies are disabled.
Asfoor ......... = Bird .... thus the Avatar...
I tried the WiFi connection off of my home wireless and I am able to connect just fine to any web page. Only when I am on EDGE or GPRS / 3G when the problem happens and I can not connect to any other than Yahoo.com. ... Now MobiTV, XM, Resco radio are all fine. I can connect and fast i might add.
Only the Internet access where the problem exists.
Ok then my bad, try ENABLING the proxy if your on that. haha i knew it meant asfoor, because it's arabic

I think it has to do with the Mediamax plan... but what is confusing is that I am able to access www.yahoo.com and that... anything else renders blank page.
it has nothing to do with media max. i have media max and i can surf any website. try doing this, go to start, setting, connection, connection, advance, select network, choose media net, edit, proxy setting, unchecked the box "this network uses proxy server to connect to the internet". if that doesnt work try using another browser like opera mobile or mini opera. Or do a hard reset

Thanks for the tip about opera Mini. I am using as we speak and it is slick. I am wondering if there is a way to create a short cut directly to Opera instead of going through Java first! can you suggest a way? thanks again.

How to choose connection access point for youtube application?

I have following problem:
Normally i should use wap.vodafone.de-connection to access internet-that's the only one listed in Start-Settings-Connection-Connections. But apparently my youtube-application uses web.vodafone.de connection to access internet - i know that because i received an sms from vodafone that i should use the right connection access point(wap.vodafone.de not web.vodafone.de). So the question is - how to change it? I havent' found any similar threads in this forum or connection-settings in youtube-application.
Change connection settings, or remove the web apn.

Change connection settings where?? In Start->Settings->Connections->Connections i have only one(the right one).
Hmm there usually are some there.
Settings-connections-connections and the Advanced tab.
In select network, you find a list, select the ones to edit/remove.
When editing you get in the middle 'modem' tab. ONe tab on the left is general, you have button 'remove settings' there.
You can also edit them to use the other apn.
It's a bit unlogical, I really never understood how this really works
Yehh! Thanks! Pretty unlogical but now i have a clue.

Unable to use I C S

Hello guys n gals,
I have been searching for an answer to this (google, many times)
I cannot get my ATT Tilit w/6.1 to act as an internet connection for my Laptop.
I disable Activesync, go into the Wmodem program, tell it to start, and my computer sees it as a Palm Treo Modem I have to dial out on. According to the program description, I should be able to use the Phone to just "share" its connection. Is this an issue with 6.1? Is there someting I have to enable that wonderful ATT does not allow me to use?
I thank you all in advance for your help. Like I said i have googled a few times and nothing comes up that helps me. They all point to a program called Internet Sharing, which i dont seem to have on my tilt. I suspect this is done intentionally by ATT but hey, I gotta ask first. Help????????
Google is indeed my friend!!! LMAO!! its 4 am here in NYC and I finally found it. Now forget everything I said above!! I just have to figure out how to pin it to my programs menu or start menu! for that i am asking for your help. I am too tired to do anyore googling tonight, err, today, or whatever it is now.

It's there. The file you are looking for is entitled "intshrui.exe". It is located in the \Windows\ directory of your device. You may need to enable "view all files" for it to be visible. Once it is visible, tap and hold on it. Select copy, and then browse to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs and tap and hold a blank space. Select "Paste Shortcut". After the shortcut is created, tap and hold on it, and rename it to "Internet Connection Sharing", or whatever you so desire. This is the application you will be using to enable ICS between your desktop computer, and telephone. Be sure to use wap.medianet as the access point. isp.cingular will not work if you are only on a Media Net plan. (if you have a dedicated tethering plan, it is fine to use isp.cingular if you so desire).
I don't have the ATT stock ROM on my phone any longer, but in the WModem application, there is a options menu. There is a item labeled "Configure" IIRC. Select this option, and uncheck, "Choose an access point automatically". Change isp.cingular to read wap.cingular, and save it. Restart your device. You should now be able to use your PDA as an internet gateway. Be sure you have installed either ActiveSync or WMDC on your computer. And the awnser to your inquiry regarding ATT doint it on purpose is "Yes". The phone is fully capable of tethering, but ATT wants to charge you $60/mo for the ability to use technology that already exists in your phone.
Other files of interest:
HSDPASwitch.exe
FieldTest.exe
CSDType.exe
Yep, At&t doesn't add the shorcut to ICS on their roms, its in the windows folder.
Also a not of caution, its suggested that you remove the proxy from medianet while you tether. There's stories of people getting caught tethering without the tethering plan and ending up being charged per kb on their bill (leading to a phone bill around and above $1000!).
I always make sure i've disabled the proxy, actually only time its on is to use cellular video, and I've been tethering without the tethering plan for as along as i can remember and never been charged per kb on my bill.
To disable the proxy look for a cab named removehiddenproxy and then go to start settings, connections tab on the bottom, then connections icon. advanced tab on bottom, select networks, tap edit under the first drop down box (MEdia Net should be selected) then proxy settings tab on bottom, and uncheck the second box "This network uses a proxy server to cnnect to the Internet"

Thanks guys for the info, now is it best to search for this cab via active sync on my PC because i don't know where to find the search program on the Kaiser to just search for the cabs and find the "removehiddenproxy" cab......I will find it this way........thanks again for the help....both of you. This beats staying in Hotels and paying for their internet connection!!

[Q] HTC TD2 & WPA Enterprise EAP PEAP MSchapV2

is it possible to connect to WPA Enterprise networks via WiFi? because I'm searching for a ROM which would allow to connect to the network on my university, which runs the following configuration:
SSID: eduroam
type: WPA-Enterprise
key exchange scheme: TKIP
authorization: EAP-PEAP-MSchapv2
IP: via DHCP
I tried it with the Energy ROM from the forum, but it doesn't allow me to enroll the certificate or it doesn't want to accept it. the other way round it doesn't allow me to enter a user name, I can only put in my password.
could somebody give me a hint what to do? I was searching the forum, found some registry hacks, but none worked
Try to change:
HKLM\\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms\WPAMixedMode
from 1 to 0.
ok, I tried it, but still the same happens:
I enter everything in the configuration menu of the comm manager, click 'next' and then I have to choose a certificate to log on - a little bit lower is a button called 'Enroll', which does nothing when hit. When I try to click 'done' it says that I have to enroll a certificate, so there's only cancel left ...
still doesen't work
well ... can somebody help please?
//edit:
well, as it seems nobody really knows how to work that out ...
Because I'm at my university every two weeks for the weekend, I'll be able to test this way of trying to connect to the WPA enterprise network in a week. but perhaps somebody else can confirm or obey this workaround:
Connect your device to your desktop/laptop and when WindowsMobileDeviceCenter (Win 7: just type the name in the search field in the start bar) opens go to Mobile Device settings >> More >> Get Device Certificates >> I know What Certificate I need to Enrol >> User ... then click enroll. Watch your device as you will be prompted to install the cert. Follow the prompts and after a few seconds you're done. When you setup your wifi connection choose PEAP and enter all the needed information.

in case you understand german
http://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/fileadmin/internet_kommunikation/smartphone/htc-hd2_uhh-wpa.pdf
it's from my university. it also contains the instructions for eduroam.
in addition to that manual, I had to uncheck "check server certificate" in the certificate tab of the secureW2 plug-in

yes, indeed, I understand german
thanks a lot for this tip, it looks a little bit different on a customized ROM and stuff, but in general it worked - I'll try it on friday or saturday, then I'll be at my university and able to give feedback!
when it'll work, I'll post a translated how-to in this thread...
sorry, I wasn't able to establish the connection with the tip by jones23 ... perhaps it works with WPA2, but not here ...
Hello,
what is the status of this? Did you find a solution?
I have the same issue since I flashed the EnergyROM.
Any ideas?
unfortunately it's truely not possible, I wasn't able to connect to the configuration from the first post using the HTC Diamond II ... damn thing!
but I'm gonna try this weekend something different: imho it's just a software problem, it's got nothing to do with hardware ... so I'm gonna try a dual boot with android and connect with that, perhaps this will work. I'll give feddback
ok, during clicking around on the device I found the solution:
Comm Manager -> Settings -> WLAN -> Network Cards
Here you can ignore the certificate and enter login data for the WIFI network.
Hopefully someone else can use this information.
@ taschenuhr
thats great to hear
@ others
perhaps you can use a notebook for testing purposes, since the connection & login data is the same. there's a windows (mac) version of that same client software.

Since neither me nor anyone else knows about the network configuration of the network you want to connect to, I don't think we're able to tell you what you should put into the various fields.
The one to work out, or know, that stuff is YOU.
If You're using Windows - run cmd.exe and type there ipconfig/all. And this will answer Your question

I can help you. You need to connect your computer or laptop first with the wifi network. Then open the wifi adapter property from PC(pic 1). Click on Details button as in picture 1. The details window copy the details marked in yellow rectangle(pic 2).
Just follow all values exactly same except he IPv4 address. Use the IPv4 address in your phones IP address box but change the last digits after dot.
If you are getting confused please send me the screen shots of your windows as mine.

dipusen, you forgot to mention that this will most likely work without troubles in a home network but shouldn't be tried in a School (WiFi) network, or any other public WiFi, as chances are (by incrementing the last octet of the IP) that this could trigger a duplicate IP in the network if the $currentIP 1++ is already assigned to another device by DHCP.
