This keyboard is made for our resolution (240x320). It looks perfect and isn't stretched in any way!
HTC_IME.apk is the keyboard.
Clicker.apk is the calibration tool in the keyboards settings.
Installation Instructions
1. Install both HTC_IME.apk and Clicker.apk.
2. Rename/remove the file /system/lib/libt9.so (I suggest renaming to libt9bk.so). You need root permissions to do this (the program Root Explorer works great.)
3. Menu -> Settings -> Locale & text. Enable 'Touch Input'.
4. Go to a text field and long-hold until a menu pops up.
5. Select 'Input Method' and then 'Touch Input'
Download HTC_IME.apk
Download Clicker.apk
Please let me know if you have any problems. Feedback is much appreciated!
I installed it successfully.
Then opened up Handcent SMS...
Then press and hold the text input area... and get message box.
Select "Input Method"... then I get a Select Input Method pop up.
The only option available is "Android Keyboard".
I see no option for HTC_IME.
Any ideas?
Thx!

Got it. Thanks! It is now enabled and selected.
However, now I go to type into a text box I get a message:
The application Touch Input (process com.htc.android.htcime) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Ideas?
Thanks!

It is not real clear in Android.
You need to go into Settings...
Then select "Locale & Text"
Then under the "Text Settings" section, select the "Touch Input" check box.
At this point, you are all done enabling it.
Then go back into your SMS application.
Then press and hold your finger in the text input box and select "Input Method".
Then select "Touch Input".
Let me know if you have any better luck.
Once I go and press in the text box, the keyboard attempts to come up and I get an error that the HTC Input has "stopped unexpectedly".
Good luck!

I have copied over new htc_ime.apk file over existing files in Mssmison's Eclair build - to install.
I can calibrate new keyboard (which is clearer than the existing HTC_IME) using the calibration tool but whenever I go to messaging/email app to activate it, I get a FC box.
Seems like we are missing something...

But HTC_IME keyboard that Mssmison has included his Eclair keyboard works fine...only problem with that keyboard is that it is not crispy clean.
Hey guys,
My apologies. I totally forgot to include this:
You need to rename/remove the file /system/lib/libt9.so (I suggest renaming to libt9bk.so). This is why you're getting errors. Note you need root permissions to do this. A program like Root Explorer will be able to do it (there are other options as well, but I use Root Explorer.)
I've updated the first post with installation instructions.
Working all good!, what lcd density do you recommend for this kb?, mine has a black box around the bottom/right which I think is affected by lcd.density
working great with 120 density.

Working nicely for me. But in the browser it doesnt use t9 dealbreaker for me - any way to do that?
I get an error libt9.so cannot be renamed because read only. I am using root explorer.

All-
Attached is a version of the new DroidX Multitouch keyboard that I have themed for my new release of xtrROM. I am not a fan of white or red and I like the raised key look screen shots below.
7/13/2010 - Updated new file that has a fix for the missing "<" key under ALT. Also fixed the long press on the "(" key. Please let me know if it works
A few notes:
includes fix for the dark keypad number for when you are in a number only field such as blue tooth.
vibrate on keypress has been fixed for Eris (not sure how it will feel on other platforms)
fixed the display of the "&" from "&;amp;" in alt mode
if you long press the "?123" key it brings up keyboard settings
voice to text support works well
[Edit per thenestor]
If you're using a ROM that already has a stock Android keyboard, you have to rename this "LatinIME.apk" and push it to /system/app, overwriting the vanilla keyboard (it uses the same package name: com.android.inputmethod.latinime). If you're using a Sense-based ROM, you can install it like any old APK.
This "should" work across phone platforms and on nonrooted phones however I have not tested.
This is my first themed app so let me know if it works and enjoy!
CREDITS to thenestor for helping me find the keyboard and which libs to use and unknown for the initial pull from the DroidX

I am using zach.xtr's ROM and I tried pushing this (without renaming) and I cannot seem to get it to take. I didn't rename because I don't think zach.xtr's ROM uses the standard keyboard. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you may need to rename this one to be exactly the name of the prior .apk that you pushed so that it overwrites the previous file... or you can remove the old one first and then push the new.

Just download the file, rename it to update.zip, put it into the root of your SD card, and flash it. This does not replace your stock android keyboard.
Some users have reported the keyboard crashing when trying to change the settings or add a user dictionary.
Developers, if you can turn this into an .apk file for non rooted users, or solve the crashing problem, this would be great. No forum i could find has done this yet, but I have the most faith in the developers in this forum, good luck!

But it would seriously be a huge help if developers were able to fix some of the features, make the keyboard a little more customizable like being able to take off the korean option on the keyboard

I probably would not name it to update.zip bc you will overwrite your CWM recovery which is also update.zip.

If it force closes on you, you must have changed settings, that's the only reason I can figure that would cause it.
I flashed it by update.zip and I can type perfectly on it, I just can't change setting because then it will force close. I'm sure someone on here can mod that keyboard and fix it though

Working great on my samsung Fascinate running 2.2.1 (Touchwiz) everything works but vibrate on keypress which causes an fc and dictionary will no work but adds the app dictionary when you open it says something like DB file does not exist diodict is shutting down if anyone got dictionary and auto correct working please let me know love this keyboardso much
I actually typed this out with it but no correct is a killer...
thanks,
ps.. BUMP!!

I got the vibrate to work while i was trying to see if correction and dictionary would work so one thing down but i cant seem to find out how to make the correction and dictionary to work. http://www.mydroid.info/android-apps/optimus-2x-keyborad-android/ here is where i got the file thats smaller and you can just extract and install the keyboard. then if you move all the lib files into you lib folder on the phone and leave the permissions as is the vibration should work thats how it worked for me.
Can't get this to show up in locale and text. I was hoping to convert my wife from iphone to android by initially making her new phone as similar to an iphone as possible. Flashed in cwm. It said success. Can't find.
there are some pretty good keyboards similar to this one on the market
for example https://market.android.com/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey&feature=search_result or even iphone-like keyboards
Its not working on my X10?

probably it could work when i rename the device name to desire hd or something...
On TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 same, compatibility error.
I wonder why it only works on some rom, maybe a some registry entry fix this problem. I'll try to change device id and feedback soon
I found a solution for those who has compatibility error. Tested on my typhoon CM7 and it works
Use your root explorer
/system/bulid.prop now tab, hold and open in text editor. Find and edit the device name on htc_desire(for example). Save and exit, reebot and done!. The error appears again, but the SPB will start and so far works great.
i'm Using MIUI Android system... After installed, using the homeswitch launcher to select SPB Shell 5.0 Beta!
It works perfectly!!! This is real cool.... Thanks bro for sharing this... great apps!
can someone with MS working tell me what "Model Number" your device has?
probably guys with the compatibility error can change that to get it working?^^
hey bro, actually i realized that you got an extra panel called "Social"? What is that for? And i didnt see it in my SPB Shell 5.0? Is it possible to teach me how to add in new panel or something?
Is there no way i can import my home screen from my current set up, i don't wanna have to spend time creating folders and organising my apps all over again.

Hey guys I'm going to keep this clean and simple.
What you will need:
--The .apk from here (APKMirror ftw!)
--The .zip file I've attached to this post (the .so files are extracted from the .apk file) It is not flashable!!!!
--The latest Marshmallow preview installed
--Root
Steps:
1) Download the .apk and the zip files
2) With your favorite Root Browser, browse to /system/priv-app/Velvet/
3) Delete the current Velvet.apk and replace it with the new one make sure the permissions are correct (-rw-r-r)!!!
4) Then browse to /system/priv-app/Velvet/lib/arm/, delete all the .so files there, then place the ones you downloaded and extracted from the zip here again, make sure the permissions are correct (-rw-r-r)!!!
5) Reboot
6) Profit!
Notes: This does set the app drawer back to horizontal scrolling, and Voice search works, along with the hotword detection (everywhere)! If you guys want screenshots/proof of hotword detection working I can upload screenshots later. But please be sure to explicitly tell me.
Thanks!

The function(s) of the app are not any different. The Google Search 5.2 update changed most aesthetics of the app. Screenshots can be found in a compilation here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/09/01/google-app-updated-to-version-5-2-33-with-new-logo-icon-color-galore-and-slightly-revamped-google-now-ui-apk-download/ (thanks to AP!). Try first deleting some system apps then rebooting. If that doesn't work try another file manager and see if that works.

Woah you're right... The lockscreen works perfectly but when the phone is on there's a problem. I know its a problem with the "draw over Apps" setting in M because 5.1 had an option there and 5.2 doesn't... Dang it Google! On the good side you can still do calculations and send messages because it reads the "solutions"...
Thanks for the report I'll add it to the OP ASAP

Thanks, before you posted this I actually went into TWRP and mounted System, then it worked.
Anyone have any experience fixing an install after the velvet directory is deleted? I copied the libs and the apk, but it won't "install", parse error.

There's no need to install it. Simply copy everything then reboot. It will install automatically after a reboot if you did everything correctly.
Why Can't I delete the Velvet.apk?

Hmmn...well, I set all permissions correctly and rebooted, but no go. I wonder if you neat the odex file in the oat directory?
EDIT: Forgot to fix permissions of the Velvet directory itself...now it works.
Are there any cracks out there who could look into this?
Is there any way, this trick from the P6 could also work on the Mate S?:

You can activate it in settings, no need for a "trick" . Settings -> Navigation pane -> Switch/activate the selector in the top.

Ah.... I wish
Unfortunately, this option has been deactivated for the European versions. It has something to do with Google not liking the option.
But that's where that trick for the P6 comes in, where hannanzikrea somehow created a Huawei backup from the settings with this option enabled that could then be restored to a EU version.
So I was hoping someone with more expertise than me could re-create this for the Mate S.
Keeping my fingers crossed

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

@BT73:
Sorry, that's not true. I followed the instructions to the point and it works flawlessly on my phone. Swipe up anywhere along the bottom and the on-sreen buttons reappear. I could not wish for a better/easier solution.

This solution iş not compatible with all roms... İ had B110 it dış not work. İ got the hide bar button, after hitting it navbar went down.. But got it never back... I had to do factory reset to get tge navbar back....After update to B145 I tried it again it worked.... But it will not work with all ROMs so that is why I wrote my comment... So this solution is not for everyone... It has it risk....so try it but it can make your navbar disappear for ever.....

Ok, thanx for specifying. We should be more precise then:
I'm running the European B114 version (CRR-L09C432B114) and with that it works.
But deleting the entry in sqlite editor should bring the on-screen buttons back after a restart. Did you try that when your were on B110?
