[Urgent, f'd up situation] Where is contacts and messages located? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Here's my problem: I used PIMbackup to backup my data before flashing but stupidly I saved the PIM file on the root of storage card so yeah it's lost after flashing. I've tried recovering it with a software but couldn't find the PIM file.
But maybe there's some hope: I also copied all of the files and folders from my phone before flashing. You know, folders like My Windows Mobile-Based Mobile, Business, etc. Do they contain data for my contacts and messages? If yes, where? Thanks.

problems solved for contacts. it's in the file called pim.vol now how about recovering messages?

backup before rom upgrade

Is there a way to backup everything before upgrade the rom so I dont have to reload all apps and settings?
Spb Backup?
is there a crack for it
Don't !!!
When I used a backup manager, I totally messed up my ROM.
I didn't pass it's bootscreen anymore, and ended up bringing it to a store to restore the ROM, because I couldn't syns it anymore with ActiveSync.
Just manually back up your files and settings!
RE
So what are the steps to manually backup settings, & voice speed dial
You can backup your voice tag database between hard resets by copying the file CommandModel1.bin found under the windows folder to your pc or to the memory card. After rom upgrade copy it back to your windows folder and all your voice tags are back!
Create backup of windows\start menu - most programs that are on the storage card dont need a reinstall.
Create copy of pim.vol in the root directory of the device - contains contact and appt information.
Create backup of windows\favorites - for all your internet favorites.
That will make restore a bit quicker than otherwise.
re
Thank you

You have to use total commander or gsfinder (must haves and both free, i prefer gsfinder) on the device to do it. When you reset you have to rename pim.vol to say pim.vo and them copy and paste it from your storage card.

The problem wasn't so much that you tried to restore a backup, the problem was that you tried to restore a FULL backup. If you had used a backup manager that allowed custom restorations from the backup file then you would've been able to restore just the files without also restoring the registry keys and settings which is probably what killed your phone.

Entire Flashrom Backup/Restore

Is there a way to almost duplicate the flash memory, OS, Filesystem, contacts, by backing up the entire memory address? I need to restore it all to a new phone, my screen busted on my old HTC Atlas (T-mobile wing) and i need all my contacts and files. Something like Flash Backup for the razr? Thx

There IS a backup system. I think it's called Sprite backup or something. But it doesn't back up the OS and I'm not sure about the filesystem either...
Yep its Sprite Backup, and its the best one out there, it Backup/restore everything but the OS .............. your filesystem, Registry, Settings, contacts, Messages etc. ......................... I walk around with a most recent backup of my device on my Storage card and if I ever have to hardreset while I am on the road I dont have to wait untill I get home to setup my phone the way I want it .........................
The other one Is called SPB Backup, but it does not compare to Sprite. There is a good Comparison between both software HERE
The screen is busted on this phone, is there not a way to dump the rom like cooking a rom and then write it to a new phone?
Not for the things in the storage. Just for the ROM itself. Not without being able to install a program to it.

i made the same mistake first time I used it. It will say backup finished but just above it there will be an error saying storage not found. You manually have to change it to internal storage. So sorry, it didn't backup anything.
after copying the file pim.vol, where to put it?
do you have any idea to restore text messages?
thanks a lot

i save everytime 2 copys from the pim.vol [email protected] & [email protected] PC,
when i reBuild (after Hardreset) my Device,
just rename the existing pim.vol (as you want) for example mip
then copy the pim.vol which previously has been saved with the contacts,
take a softreset, delete the renamed pim(mip).vol
DONE.

Delete contacts

What is the easiest way to delete all my phone contacts? Do I need to do a master reset? I exported my contacts to the SD card and then like a dumb a.........s I clicked on the file on the SD card and now all my contacts are messed up. I have already backed up my contacts using Android Manager. Now I want to restore them but I need to delete them all from the phone first so I don't get all duplicates. My phone is stock and not rooted.

Try this, it should work on non-rooted phone since we won't be installing or backing up or deleting any apps.
Ignore the warning saying busybox not found or anything like that.
1. Open titanium backup
2. Look for "Contacts Storage" and select it
3. Do a "wipe data"
This should clean all ur contacts.
Thanks, but I am not using TiBu. Phone is not rooted. I backed up my contacts with Android Manager.

So u were able to achieve what u wanted?
No. I need to delete all my contact before I do a restore. My contact got all messed up when I hit the exported file on the SD card. Now I have Contact that show a number instead of a name and duplicate linked contacts. This is why I want to delete them all so I can do a restore to get them back the way they should be. No duplicates and no contacts with a number instead of a name.
Thanks

Big problem with backup on HiSuite. The program does not see the backup file

hello!
I have a very big problem with my backup. Before resetting the phone to factory settings, I made a copy on HiSuite. I then transferred it to a flash drive and copied it to my notebook. After returning the phone from service, I wanted to restore the files, I connected the phone to HiSuite and pointed to the folders with the backup. The message "no backup files" popped up.
Please help me a lot, in this backup I have very important documents and photos of documents!
Is there anyone who could help me with this problem?
