Himalaya backup program - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Hello,
I had a Himalaya (Qtek 2020i) with a backup program in the original ROM (don't remember the name of the program, though) and i've backed up some contacts that i need.
I have the backed up files, but i can't find the program.
I've looked through the extRom stuff on the wiki, but there isn't such a program, and i don't know which was the original ROM.
Can anyone tell me what's the name of the back up program that comes with the original ROM?
Or which is the stock ROM for the 2020i.
Thanks.

Qtek 2020i is not Himalaya. It's based on platform HTC Alpine.
Original backup program for alpine is Xbackup.

Modifying PDA2K Exended ROM

Hi,
I'm trying to add a couple of things to the extended rom of my PDA2K, I've unlocked the extened rom but can't find config.txt in it.
Has anyone else unlocked the extended rom of their PDA2K? If so is there a config.txt in it?
Thanx
There is definitely a config.txt in there. Since I have an XDA2S, it also has an autoconfig.txt file for carrier customizations.
Could someone post extROM cab files for XDA2s from O2
autoconfig.txt

can you post that autoconfig.txt file here please, so i can take a look at it ?
thx
The isn't an autoconfig file. There is an autorun which reads and acts upon the Config.txt file. This is from imate
In Imate PDA2K there's no config.txt. The ExtROM is set up indifferent way. Imate has done that way since ROM 166 for XDAII. The setup.exe do the job
Sorry for the dis-information.

I stuck the config file into the PDA2K and did a hard reset but there was no effect to the setup process. The file was ignored
I had also put the Blue Tooth patch in the extended rom and it showed up in the menu of the InstallCabFile program where you choose your operator. when I chose the patch, it installed everything except for any operator settings.

So is there any way to modify the setup process?
Looking at the config text file not much different other than the Fax Cab file from the final .187 rom from o2. So looks like there is no real gain in it although would still like to have a play with the cab files if anyone has the external rom on their PC to upload.
Is the PDA2K the same as MDA3? I´m a little bit confused about this name.
If so, how did you unlocked the Ext. Rom? I just can made mine visible, but i can not write to it. The Unlock like on MDA2 does not work here...

There is another post somewhere with two files, one to unhide the extRom and another one to unlockit.
Thank you!
I found the problem. i didn´t know that i had to use -xda3 as parameter.
Now everything is working fine.

-unlock -xda3???
thanks for your help
Go to the file you want start. Then in the Contextmenu of the file click "Open with" and there you can enter the parameters.
Replying to the orginal post.
I'm fairly new to playing around with Ext-roms but here is what I have found so far.
Saqibj - It would seem that the models supplied by different Carriers have been created differently.
I've got 2 PDA2Ks. Which have been sourced in 2 different countries from different suppliers.
Both have
Rom version 1.12.22 WWE
Radio version 1.02.00
And seem to be identical hardware wise.
Device 1 has a std Imate config with no carrier customisations.
Device 2 has a modified extrom with preset network connections, splash screens etc.
Device 1 has a config.txt the other doesn't.
Most of the cabs are common to both devices
(I still don't know what half of them do - but I'm learning from other posts on this site).
Both have an Autorun.exe. - but they are different.
I suspect that the one that doesn't have a config.txt, has had the autorun.exe modfied to load the cabs etc - which obviously should prevent alteration/modification.
This could explain why you don't have a config.txt. If you are unhappy with your extrom contents, I think you can download the unmodified ROM contents direct from club-imate. But I've never done this.
Good luck
TomLin:
Thanx for the explanation, Would it be possible for you to post the autorunfile and the config.txt files, I want ro try to replace them on my ext_rom and see if it works that way.
Thanx

Backup sd with nba files from aWizard Tool

Hi,
I would like to create a backup sd, but I only have the files from the aWizard Tool (three nba files and the extended rom). And the manuals here just show it for a nb0 file...
I hope someone could help me.

I'm not sure, whether i understood right.. Do you wanna backup full rom to SD card? If yes, click on my signature to get the tool. If not, please explain what you need..
Yes, but I want tu backup the nda files (I think OS /radio /Splash/ Logo)
And I don't have one big file.
What tool I need from your homepage?
EDIT:
It's a charmer rom I want to install.
But why?..
The only sense to have SD-Card backup is to restore FULL ROM from this Card (it has the special rom dump, and it's not readable in PC-reader f.e.).. To restore your rom partly you can use aWizard...
aWizard doesn't work. It shows after pressing writing a new os, that it found a rom in the rom folder and I should press a number. But it doesn't show me, which number. So I cannot use this tool to install the rom...
(I think I should choose the rom with the number)
So I thought I could try it with a sd-card backup...
Can I make on big file with the rom-parts?
For Information:
I have a german charmer-device with an english rom and I would like to install a german romvagain.
I have only the aWizard Tool backup of the old rom.
I don't have unlocked (cid) the phone, because I think it is not necessary, because I will install a "correct" rom back and I would loose my warrenty.
thank you,
km

Autorun.exe Help Required

Can anybody help me with a problem
I want to autoinstall some cab files on a wm5 wizard. (Like tomtom does under wm2003)
Problem WM5 don't want to install!!!
I have used the 2577 folder and the autorun from tomtom, renamed my cabs to the tomtom names (ttn.cab, gps.cab etc) this works fine under wm2003 but will not install on wm5
Does Anybody have a hacked autorun.exe that installs cabs on wm5 or
a Hacked extended rom autorun.exe that reads the config from the storage card instead of the extended rom.
The second option would be better as then all i have to do is re-write the config for different sd-cards
Please Please Please help me all you programmers/hackers/reverse-engineers or whatever you would lke to be known as.
Many thanks in advance
Autorun reads the ini from the /ExtendedRom/ location and that is hardcoded..
I can't be changed because it will render the certificate invallid.
However you can use:
PocketPC Installer ( http://www.pocketpctoolkit.com/index.htm )
It will make an autorun.exe for you (to install cabs registry keys etc etc..)

Doesn't Autoconfig.exe just reads the Config.txt file from the same directory?
Just change the Config.txt so it fits your needs and I think you will be done.
Only problem is that every app will be installed to Main Storage.
I actually have to know this, but cannot try it right now, my device is flashing one of my test Roms

The one from orange (NLD) doesn't. It reads the one in the extended rom.
Have disassebled it with IDA-pro, there I saw the strings pointing to the extended rom.
After patching it I got a certificate error when I tried to run it..
