Running CSDIV4 -- No Mount USB Option..? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Drivers for android / htc / g1 / and SDK are installed on my PC..
USB cord is not broken...
Tried turing USB debugging off..
Title says which rom im using... and i have searched --- and nothing.
When i connect my USB, there isnt even any option in the drop-down to mount usb. If i load in ubuntu, the icon pops up on my g1... and i will click mount, but then an error will come up in ubuntu. Is this an issue within this rom... or is there something i can do to fix this? Thanks in advance...

debugging needs to be on and check for a "mount usb" app in the application drawer

reflashed with multiple ROMs -- same issue.
This kind of all started AFTER using "auto-mount" apps. Since then i have reformatted card multiple times, apps are gone.. issue resides. Any help will be appreciated.. thanks

Also, every time I plug into usb on any PC... it pops up as "USB Device Not Recognized." All drivers are installed properly. (even reinstalled for verification)
When plug in and in Ubuntu Live... shows up as Android Phone... but errors out when i click to open for viewing.

[SOLVED] Can't mound SD card from G1 to computer

I am unable to mount my SD card when it is in my G1 and connected to my computer. I used to be able to before I upgraded to Windows 7. I am using JacHero 2.7.1 with the latest USB drivers, fastboot and ADB both work. But when I connect my phone to my computer and choose to mount the card, nothing happens on my computer. In device manager, my G1 is still there under ADB Interface. However, the SD card is mounted as WPD File System Volume Driver with a little caution sign on the icon. When I view properties of the device, it says "The device cannot start. (Code 10)"
How can I get this to work? Its kinda annoying to have to turn off my phone, remove my fishbone case and go through all that just to put a picture on it.

You can always use adb push? Lol try uninstalling the usb storage devices and reinstalling them
well, the problem is USB Mass Storage doesn't even show up. And when I try to install newer drivers it says "Windows has concluded that your driver is up to date" and stuff like that. ADB push is a little slow for me lol
Uninstall whatever your SD Card is installed as, then restart your computer, replug in your phone and mount the SD Card and it should prompt that a new device was plugged in.

Just tried that, the moment I plugged it in, my computer automatically installed the driver, so still not working.

Ugh, I hate that... try manually updating drivers and see if you can get it to install the Mass Storage Device drivers from a list...
I tried that, there wasn't an option for USB Mass Storage, but there was one for SD Card in the pre-installed driver list, however when I selected that one I received an error. Just a note, that Android HTC Phone USB Device is listed under disk drives with no caution signs in the icon, however I am unable to get that one to work either. Could it possibly be Windows 7..?
AHAHAHHAHA YES I FIXED IT WOOO HOOOO!
Okay, so what I did was go into the development settings and UNcheck USB debugging. The moment I did that, my computer made the "new hardware sound" and then said "driver install successful" and when I clicked on it to see the driver, the driver was "USB Mass Storage Device". Now I can mount it WOOHOO!
Thanks you guys for all the help
edit:
With USB debugging reenabled, it stops working again, so I gotta turn it off everytime I wanna mount... ah well
That sucks, I have mine permanently on cuz I use ADB so much (Also using Windows 7 here) And everything detected perfectly. Well good job on finding a workaround.

Okay because of a great guy from a microsoft website forumboard I was able to fix this with the below fix.
Thank you (Patricio16)
If still doesnt work try this:
1. My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced System Settings. This takes you into the system properties like in XP. Go into Environment variables and create a new System varable called devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices (I don't think it's case sensitive). Set this to a value of 1.
2. Go into device manager. From the view menu, choose "show hidden devices". Because of the environment variable, you now see all devices not in use.
3. Uninstall any "Universal Serial Bus controllers" not in use (greyed out). Also I uninstalled any storage volumes, storage volume shadow copies, and disk drives also not in use. You should see your offending USB device in one of these areas.
4. STILL DIDNT WORK!! Then:
4.1 Make sure your cellphone detects and see the content of the card. Then, right click MY COMPUTER - Choose Disk Mngmt- Look for the storage device in trouble (you will see that it doesnt have an assigned letter yet) - Add a letter to it - Check and you'll see the drive. (Edit)rocxylemmon- remove the WPD by uninstalling it if it does not go away on it's own then recheck for any new devices and it will change to the drive letter you assigned it too.

USB Device Not Recongnized

I am new to rooting phones and I just successfully rooted my AT&T nexus one.
Once I successfully did that I moved forward to flash my first ROM.
However I went to flash CyanogenMod v5.0.5.3 and something went wrong.
I think I did not copy the full file over to my SD card and the flash could not be completed and now my computer will not recognize my device when I plug it in. I have no idea where to go from here.
Everything else works fine on my phone, just nothing happens when I connect it to my computer and I have no way to reload roms or anything to my phone now.
Any help or tips is greatly appreciated.
reload the usb driver? and WRONG SECTION
Can you mount the phone from the notifications bar at all?
My apologizes on posting in the wrong section.
How do you mount phone from notifications bar? I am not sure what that means... sorry I am really new to android. Are you talking about the notifications bar on my nexus one or my computer?
Nothing happens when I connect my nexus one to my computer at all except for the pop up saying USB device not recongizned.
I am attempting to reload the drivers now.
Thank you for the tips.

for android when you connect your phone to your computer the nexus itself should show you a notification that you have connected to a computer and that you can "mount" the sd card to the computer for file transfer. if you do not see anything new show in the notifications bar on the nexus reboot to recovery mode and mount the usb from there. to reboot to recovery power off the nexus and hold down the volume down button while booting it will show you an option to go into recovery.

With Android phones you have to mount it from the phone. Drag the top bar down and it should say "USB connected." Press the notification and select mount. It should show up on your computer after. If you don't have that notification, reload the drivers.
Ok thanks. When I pull down the notifications bar it does not show USB connected at all and I know it used to before this happened.
I attemped to reload the drivers however when I open my device manager I do not see my nexus one... there is just "USB Mass storage device" there with an error next to that option.

You can try using USBDeview here, uninstall the drivers, and plug back in your phone to reinstall the drivers.

[Q]Does not show GT-N7000 when connected to pc

hi, when Rocket Rom 7 (ics) came out, i installed it. after doing this, when i connected my phone to the pc, the system detects the phone as Samsung_android and shows 2 removable drives in the system. however, if you click on them they dont work
it no longer detects my phone as GT-N7000
what i have noticed: when i connect the usb cable, the phone doesnt show "MTP connection" anymore... instead, it shows USB connected.
what has been done:
flashed rocket rom 10, nogo
reinstalled kies: nogo
reinstalled win7 (yes i actually did that even tho testing on other pcs showed the same issue)
the phone still charges and the only way i can connect my phone to d pc to view files is by clicking "usb storage"
any advice on this?
Uninstall kies, and just install driver (find latest from toolbox on my signature)
use different USB port, and dont use any extensor cable to connect device.

hi bro... didnt work... i dont think its the driver... its the phone... coz i tested another note, its working fine
My Galaxy Tab has similar issues. I believe it would be due to the architechture of the ROM forcing you to have to mount your device to your computer before being able to load the Device Internal SD, and the External SD.
Click USB Storage when it shows, this should pop up a window which has a Lil android dude, and USB Storage Message with a button stating 'Turn on USB Storage'. After clicking it, you can click 'Turn Off USB Storage' to unmount the device.
thanx for that.. hehe.. i stumbled across it the other day.. at least i can transfer files... but just dont like the fact its not showing...

[Help] USB Storage not mounting

Lately my PC refuses to detect any USB connection when I connect phone via USB cable. It charges and if I enable USB debugging I get a notification for that too but the USB utilities thing won't pop up that lets you choose the mode of connection(Mass storage etc.)
I have installed/reinstalled drivers over and over. Eventually it was working but now it won't even work once.
I need help!
Mounting from recovery does nothing either
On custom ROM (RRemix )
EDIT: Let windows update pick the drivers and now can connect as MTP device BUT still no USB utilities (Rom is cm11 based) so i don't really know what else to do :/

I dont know what the problem is/was. Can someone please help?

Cant write to storage via MTP (Or any other mode) from Windows 10 to OP3T

--- SOLVED see first post second page! ---
Hello XDA,
I am only able to read data on the phone when connected via USB on windows. On the phone itself I can change whatever I want ( Via ES-explorer for example) But in windows file explorer I can't. It will not tell me that I do not have proper writing rights, but instead just decides to freeze for 10 minutes everytime I try to make a file change, to eventually give me a beautiful
"windows explorer is not responding" pop-up
What I have tried :
-Rebooting,
-Reinstalling USB drivers,
-Switching USB debugging on and off,
-Reinstalling root,
-Installing the newest Oxygen OS update from February,
-used different cables (also an old micro USB with adapter) And nothing works.
This sucks because I was just trying to change my photography workflow from being Desktop based to being Android based..
Any suggestions ?
Greetings,
Thijs

Did you maybe noticed when this problem occurs to you? I know that one months ago it just did work. Should I reinstall Windows completely?
I've been talking to a few people and it's happening to them to on Windows 10 I think it's just a bug from a recent update try a roll back

How should one file a bug-report for windows 10 then, this can't be something that shouldn't keep unnoticed by them.
Did rolling back fix something for you, and how did you do so?
I've checked another Windows 10 computer which hasn't been updated and it recognises my one plus 3T so if you Google / YouTube windows 10 roll back it should work
Hmm this does suck. This means I cant be up to date on windows for now. Anybody have different suggestions?

The only other thing I could suggest is using a virtual machine to run win 7
Did you try back usb ports?. My pc with windows 10 fails with the front ports.
Solution
Backup all the data in your internal memory and try the 'format data' option from twrp to wipe your internal storage. It could solve your problem, as it did in my case.
New solution, just done works!
Plug in your phone and on the computer go to device manager (have phone in MTP mode)
you'll find the phone as a unknowen device
right click on this select "update driver software..."
a window will pop up select "browse my computer for driver softaware"
then on the next bit select "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my comupter"
then you will have a box with "MTP Device" and "MTP USB device"
select "MTP USB device" hit next and it should work 100%

Which version of TWRP are you running? The thing is that If I afterward can't restore the data via USB haha, then the whole point of backing it up seems invalid

I doubt there's much we can suggest that you haven't already tried. Try another cable/USB Port/uninstall device from Device Manager and let Windows find the driver. Hell, you probably did all that already.
