I've seen some video in which when the phone is booted up, there is a led light at the top left corner ( opposite with the charge light ), but I dont have it on my phone. Can anyone explain ?
I think that may be the LED for blue tooth i could be wrong so don't quote me. I have only ever scene the LED on the right light up with a little info on charging status.
you can see it because is a infrared ligth...... it only shows like in videos and pictures
Thats the proximity sensor. Like the poster above said, its infrared so can't see it with your bare eyes.

Sorry if this has already been asked but what are the top two lights in the top left for? must be in bright light to see and maybe a slight tilt
I think one is the light and one the proximity sensor!

I was wondering this too Wasn't too sure to ask lol.
What kind of light is it? I know the led light that is used for the nexus is in the top right..

They aren't lights but sensors. One detects the amount of light in a room to automatically change your brightness, and apparently the other is a proximity sensor, which I didn't know, but makes sense. The proximity sensor is why your screen turns off when you put your phone to your ear during a call.
On my HTC One phone there is a red light which is constantly on. It is on the screen near the upper left side. I've closed all apps but it is still on, quite confused anyone able to shed some light?
Have you changed your phone at all eg unlocked and put custom rom / kernel on?
That red light is the charging light. Not sure why it is always on. Id suggest a simple power off and on should sort the issue for you. Looks as it if has got locked in some sort of cycle.
Hi, I think that the notification LEd of our HTC One is really poor. It really small and also not very bright, so it's very hard to see if you are not in a dark place.
But I noticed that when the battery is empty, or nearly empty, and you plug in the charger with the phone turned off, the LED is much brighter than usual.
So I wonder if it would be possible to make a hack for increase its brightness for every notification.
Thanks!

+1 here. No solution yet...
My led died last December. I don't miss it. But I was on the search for a brighter light too. I know that there are some hacks but I don't know exactly where and what.

Are you sure it's not just covered with dust or something? Try cleaning out with a toothbrush, some people "recovered" its led and loudness after cleaning

Yeah I'm pretty sure. I cleaned it very often it's dead and I don't care anymore. It's not worse to me.
Okay, I fixed my LED brightness.
It really was very very dim in phone's standby regime. Entering the bootloader or and other on/off procedure was setting orange led ON FIRE! That means there is a lot of power getting lost somewhere. In the /system/sys/class/leds/amber and /system/sys/class/leds/green there is a file named "pwm_coefficient" that determines LED's strength. I was unable to edit it on my (stock 5.0.1) kernel, but somebody may be able to do that, and alter the default value of "5" to something like "255" which I believe is maximum.
Anyhow, as a last resort (being so frustrated not being able to see my notifications on time) I decided to physically clean the LED's hole. I used an extra spiked toothpick (just give it a nice touch with a sharp knife, to make it super pointy and thin) and stuck it inside, rotating vigorously. It turns out that was it, it's as bright as new.
Still I wonder why dirty LED was shining brighter prior to boot?
Is there one? Thought I heard there was. Haven't seen anything about a light and my msg app doesn't have any info about light colors. It seems like there is an LED on the top right of the phone too.
Read this... soooo not notification light?
"Like the Moto X 2014 and other Motorola devices there is no notification LED. Instead the display shows an icon for the last three notifications so you know if it is Facebook, email, a call, text or whatever it is for."
And I can't have pattern lock and this active display crap? wtf...
I am pretty sure I noticed a very small light in the lower left corner of the front (just to the left of the back button). I noticed it when my battery was down to under 10%.
Has anyone else seen this?

IR sensor for the waving of your hand over the screen to ditch a call.
Am I right in saying that there are four IR sensors on this device? I thought I saw one in each corner but lately, whenever I wave my hand over the bottom half of the phone, the screen does not light up.
Yes, if you want to see if they're all working, video record it with another phone or camera, you should see the IR sensors shining.

I tried with an iPhone and nothing came up...
Where is the fourth? Mine only has 3. Bottom two corners and upper right. Mine also does not light up if I wave over the bottom, but I can see the sensors firing, they give off a bit of red light. It's pretty easy to see in the dark, even with a naked eye.
There is only 3 and they are visible with the naked eye. Top right, and bottom corners.

I seem to remember mine working when I passed over the bottom, but now it is not. I can also see them glow red, but they don't seem to work anymore. Did yours ever work?
They never go right. The actual light is invisible to our eyes. You see the red dots when you catch it in certain light. But that's the sensor itself not the light its producing
Yeah my bottoms aren't working either, also if u go into attentive display, it doesn't work for me, the picture never pops up. Anyone care to give it a try, I haven't took the update, didn't know if that was anything for it.

Yup. Maybe an update broke it? I know it worked when I first got the phone then I turned it off.
Edit: they do turn on when I approach the phone. So I know they work.
I hadn't took the update so that's weird, idk hopefully it will be figured out. I see the sensors light up so their working I just can't figure out what's going on, glad its just not my phone.

The red dots go on and off when you move across the bottom of the screen. It's definitely not the sensor itself, because if you hold it in the same angle, the light also goes off.
As far as the bottom of the screen, mine has never lit up my screen by reaching across the bottom. I think the bottom sensors work in conjunction with the gyro, so that when you pick it up it turns on, but the sensors themselves never turn on my phone. If I wave across the upper right one it will though. It's been this way on all 3 Turbos I've had.
The 4th is near the middle on top. You can see them in this video.

The bottom sensors only work in a dark room for me. When the turn on they go bright then dim, and then they will sense my hand. Try it.
