Dealextreme have just added a 1300mAh HD2 battery to their stock - HD2 Accessories

For anyone who's interested here's the product description: 3.7V 1300mAh Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery for HTC HD2
Currently $4.68 delivered worldwide.
Does this appear to look like any others from the packaging? Anyone going to order?
Edit: Ordered & received, all looks good. Will update again in a few days when I'm done testing.

Looks like the ecell battery which is no better than the stock battery. Seems there are a few batteries released under different branding but all with similar performance.

I received my battery a couple of days ago and am now charging it for the first time. I'll post here once I've charged/discharged about 3 times and have a good idea of how it compares to the original.
Some notes -
The battery fits the HD2 perfectly, it's not too tight or loose as some people have reported with third party batteries.
Sticker on the battery claims 1300mAh
Will update soon!

An update...
I'm charging for the first time, switched the phone on. My HD2's LEDs have flashing Orange then Green as described in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=650507 (no the box to not charge when on isn't checked!)
When the phone is OFF it appears to charge normally (full orange).
This might be a faulty battery, can anyone who's ordered this from DX post about how their battery is performing?
Perhaps this is how 'unconditioned' batteries perform the first time they're charged?

I have 2 similar looking ones I got from ebay. They work fine, BUT for charging... the problem is the temp sensor being badly calibrated, and pretty much anytime the device is warmer than ambient temp (~25-30°C) the flashing LED problem comes up.
Put the phone in standby, screen down (for cooling), and don't charge via USB (when connected to USB the phone stays on i.e. heats up) but with the original charger.

I always charge my batteries (have FOUR of them, original + 3 chinese identical to the original, both by the looks and performance) and always charge them via the external charger. Faster, cooler, more pratical (since you can go away with the phone while the other battery is filling up), so never had any problem, ever

I just ordered two of them the other day. I can't wait until they arrive... The HD2's battery life is atrocious!

I just picked up this exact battery from dealextreme and have been using it for a couple days now and i'm having the exact same symptoms as described above....
It charged up alright the first couple days but it doesn't seem to charge now and the led flashes orange/green. It would appear to be heat related because if i let it cool a little it will charge... for a little bit anyway...
Is there an actual solution for this or are the batteries just complete garbage....

Just get the original HTC battery. All these extra mAh claims are BS. Unless of course you go with the larger extended battery.

Yep. I have a total of 5 batteries and I charge 4 externally before I go on trips.
After initial charging, they all perform just fine. Find a nice stable Android rom and monitor your power usage there.

Try that one 2300 mAh, works fine with windows but with sd android builds only few kernels have the support for that (hastarin), and with NAND andoids havent found any that supports it
It looks awful but it feels very good in hand...

Not thread hijack but here is some data you might have for use and you can stack it against it so other users who is thinking of buying can make good decisions. Now how does this stack up against Mugen Power 1300 mAh stock?

Okay so this morning after I replaced the Mugen battery with stock battery I fully charged it and took this screenshot.
From the looks of it both seems same and at this point I am totally convinced that the stock battery is better. This image on top I uploaded from work on my HD2 as I'm typing from there and my current charge is 83% at 5:53PM when I am submitting this post. So you tell me which is better.

Now keep in mind the stock battery is 1230 mAh and the Mugen power stock size battery was 1300 mAh. So the only difference here was 70+ extra mAh yet after extended test and usage I can respectfully say I got 3-4hours extra with Mugen than the stock size which is alot when you compare the batteries and its only 70 mAh extra which is nothing.
Now keep in mind from those SS the TBattery 0.60 does not verify the actual full mAh as its preset to the max of stock battery which is bug in the program. At the beginning to me it did seem the stock battery was superior as time went on and after many full discharges, Mugen power battery come on top.

Alternate Emergency Power for HD2

Just Mobile PP-08 Gum Pro 4400mAh Power Pack
I purchased the power pack from eBuyer for roughly £35(inc. pp) and received it 2 days ago, and managed to get 2 full charges and an extra 44% battery life for the HD2.
The 2nd full charge I left the HD2 on and surfed the internet and played a 8 min video on youtube.
The pack itself takes about 3 hours to charge using a mini usb lead however I did not use the laptop/computer to charge the unit. I had a old blackberry charger hanging around with a mini usb connector and charged it up from the mains. Online reviews do state that the unit takes roughly 3 hours to charge anyway.
I did look at other battery packs (energizer, phillips, kensington, etc etc.) but couldnt find any deals for the same amount of power. Just thought i'd post this little gadget on the forum just incase anyone out there uses the phone / travel a lot.
Let me know if anyone has used this brand/model before and how you got on with it.

Energizer for me...
I plan to use my old Energizer "Energi-to-go". It worked great on my old Kaiser & Touch Pro. I ordered a new tip ($2.99) from batteries.com last night for the new micro usb port.
How often can you charge your HD2 with this energizer power pack?
(with 2 AA-NiMH 2200 mAh rechargeable batteries)
Is there a way to calculate this when you know the capacity and voltage of the batteries?

I'd expect you'd get atleast 1 charge (minimum).. Normally rechargable AA are around the 1.2/3v mark and will kick out 2200mAh at the rated voltage for an hour.
Im not really sure what the actual HD2 running voltage is... You'd have a more realistic figure that way.
hd2 battery is 1230 mAh and 3.7 V

Yes but, the HD2 doesnt always use 1230mAh 3.7v.. The battery is capable of outputting 1230mA at 3.7v for one Hour straight.
1230 mAh is the capacity of the battery on 3.7 Volt.
If i use 3 rechargable batterys (AA with 2200 mAh) then i have about 2200 mAh at about 3.6 Volt. So i can charge nearly 2 times - is this right?
With only 2 batterys it would be about 1 time and a little bit more.
Is my calculating right?
I bought this on eBay a while back .. £2.99 I beleive. It takes 4 standard AA batteries.
The two mini to micro USB adapters were bought from netimes along with another order.
No idea how much extra charge it gives but with a couple of packs of rechargeable 2700 mAh batteries in my bag and more available in the shops I'm not too fussed.

From my understanding yes, if not and someone else can enlighten us.. But theres one problem, you should'nt use a flat battery with a charged up battery, it'll run the charged battery down really fast.
Always use a battery thats charged at the same level.

Do not use these kind of chargers (Kill battery)

Hi!
Bought this charger ages ago, started charging my batteries nowadays, and they got broken.
I might have left them on too long, not sure. After charging them a couple of times they gave false temperature/drain data to the phone.
For example:
With fully charged battery, phone displayed random % details like 1%, or 40%, etc.
With fully chardged battery flash in winmo didn't want to turn on, coz battery was low the phone thought
some Android roms failed to boot with the broken batteries. They were fine with a new one.
Sometimes they work ok.
With 15%, plugged in the original charger for 1 sec, after disconnect battery seemed to be on 100% for a couple of minutes and started counting down pretty fast, like a couple of % a minute
I "lost" an original default battery and an original htc extended battery :-(
So here is something to avoid. Got it from China.

thanks for the advice, I was just about to buy one
Was using them in my HTC Legend for a while, didn't notice any side effects.
Haven't got one for the HD2 yet.
The problem affected 2 htc batteries, shortly after I started using the charger. Maybe it is only me who has a defective charger. Maybe I left them on the charger too long (max12hours), but that shouldn't be a problem. To tell you the truth, this isn't the first time I had problems with cheap accessories from China in the last couple of years.
The quality of these products are often appalling.
Had a similar charger for my xperia x1, had no problems though...
I think its just only you with a defective charger, i have used this kind of charger for all my 4 batteris for about 6 months now and there is nothing wrong with it. Buy a new charger The charger stops charging the battery when the led turns blue so it works fine here
and it charges fully batteri for about 1-2 hours , it takes loonger with charging via phone
i've been using this type of charger for a while
(on both a stock battery & the replacement it came with).
i haven't had any issues with it to date
That thing looks like one of those cheap ass Chinese chargers that will break anything it's connected to. I know from experience - I had an external Molex (HDD) connector that caught fire while plugged in - NEVER again. That thing probably has NO overcharge control.

yes it has
Most likely the OP got a bad one
I have been using various Chinese chargers for the past several years (with various phones). I just finished charging my spare with one of them. They do have overvoltage circuits, and they would not sell ones that don't - they want to sell more of them, and having them catch fire or explode is not good business.
But quality control can have one slip through sometimes, and of course there is little recourse when this happens - the company is in China!
EDIT: I should also point out that there are no options. I don't think there are US, Japanese, or TW made models, though I haven't made a detailed search.
EDIT EDIT: Except for the boxwave charger, which has both a desktop holder and a spare battery charger. But even then I don't know where boxwave has them made - probably China...
http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Deskt...5X42/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1297185146&sr=8-3
i'm using this now and so far no problems at all. i think there's a problem with your charger.
The charger eventually died. No lights or anything.
Thanks for the advice
I've just bought one of these chargers from e bay.it was from a UK seller . And I also got 2 batteries ,
Will let you know what happens
I got two (probably just a defective batch) and for some reason they discharged my batteries rather than charging them. I just thought that was kinda odd. If anyone else has any recommendations for an alternative external charger I'm all ears as my previous HD2's usb port broke off from wear and I'd like to prevent that from happening again.
I have the same charger and i have used it for over a yeah and i still get 1 day of full battery use like always
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Those of you with working chargers, where'd you get them from?
I bought the same type: http://cgi.benl.ebay.be/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250796662523 (beware that these have US power socket)
The charger and one of the two batteries are working pretty well here. The other battery was discharged very fast. I think the charger stops charging before it's full. Anyway, for that price it doesn't really matter.
I've been using an identical one for over a year and haven't had any problems. Sounds like you got a defective unit.
There are disadvantages I've noticed though - they only charge to 99% (according to phone stats) and, unless I'm imagining it, the battery drains faster from 99-15% and then slowly 'til it gets down to 1% compared to a regular mains charge.
Also the USB output trickle-charges and takes forever to fully charge the battery in the phone. Only good for overnight.
I've got 3 batteries - 2 stock HTC's and one cheap Chinese one as I often find myself in situations where I'm going to need to use the phone for more than a few hours of heavy use - so a charger like this is worth it for me!
Same problems
Same charger from ebay. Killed about 5 batteries (had 5 total in rotation and didn't narrow it down to the charger until now....)
STAY AWAY!
Thanks for sharing your important things. if you did not share with me about this then i will buy this type charger. no no. :silly: i want to use USB charger.. if anyone reply me ? is it good for me ?

Accessories for Revolution

This is just a placeholder!
CONFIRMED: 2900 mAh Extended Battery Enables Kickstand hack
While I was surprised with the decent battery of the Revolution, I've grown to dislike having my phone constantly tethered to a Zagg Sparq, thus bought the $49 extended battery from Verizon.
Much to my delight, the pretty massive battery enables the Revolution to stand up all by itself. Not to mention almost doubles its external-power-source independence. Hoorah!

Triskite I just got the extended battery last night. And I was wondering when you first put it to charge, how long before the battery was full the first time? Last night I put it on the charger at about 2:45am @ 19% left and this morning woke up at 7:45am with only 67% charged.
taking way long to charge atm

yeah dude i had it at around 20% at midnight, woke up at 9AM and it was 75% charged.
This was through the ZaggSparq, which is supposed to do it at the same rate as the wall.... but... I'm hoping that isn't the case.
Were you using the included usb cable & wall->usb adapter?
I will try with that tomorrow night and report...
Definitely needs to be able to charge in 8 hours for me to keep the Revolution in general.
Does anyone think slow charging is something that is possible to fix with a different ROM

I'm using the charger that I used on my droid X. I also use a regular charger trying to get it fully charged and same thing.
I finally got the battery fully charged last night. So far today about an hour an half and ive only lost 5% battery so fast so good.

the hunchback has 65% life left and it's 12:49AM.
It has been on without any recharge since 8AM (technically yesterday morning)- I made lots of calls with google voice callback (requires 3g), did lots of web browsing, phone optimizing, and other things like phone hacking (got dedicated search key working with google finally, following xda walkthrough), etc.
I did have Juice Defender on for about half the day- just to turn off 3G when screen is locked (PS does anyone know a better way? AutomateIt doesn't work reliably)-> but it would sometimes take a while to turn 3G back on...
To follow-up with the previous inquiry, it charged from 17% at 1AM to 90% at 6:30AM-> meaning 90% charge in 8 hours which is almost good enough.
It's like carrying around 2 phones in size and in battery life. which I suppose I prefer to only 1.
65% is overkill, though... I will turn off JD

also, as i mentioned, 3g would not be re-enabled very often using it- for one reason or another
That battery is an absolute monstrosity, but would come in real handy for a ski trip or road trip...

that's ugly as hell. why can't they make an extended battery that looks good.. at least make the back cover look presentable.

I agree. I would love to see an extended battery cover that curved along the phone like the regular one, not hard edges like this. I'm assuming they can't on top because of the camera, but why not the bottom? I think that would make it looke at least 10x better.

1800 mah battery with stock cover!

I just thought I would share this just in case if anyone was interested. I bought this battery for my Samsung Captivate and it works well. So I decided to out try it in my Focus to see if it would fit..it fit perfectly!! I have had the battery for only 2 weeks now but it does work better and it looks to be Samsung OEM.
So just to recap this fits with the stock back. It is but you will never notice once it closes

Correct this battery fits under the stock cover. This phone isn't my daily phone so I can't tell you how much longer it lasts. What I can tell you though is that in my Captivate (daily phone) it lasts longer for sure, probably about 20 to 30% more. I literally used it in the Focus for like half a day and it had no issues.
Okay I am using the battery in the focus today. It does snap. Lose but it is a tight fight. If you have a case it won't be a problem at all. One corner from my phone unsnaps randomly but one of my clips is broken so that could be the case also.
I received today the Chinese batteries.
They fit perfectly in the Focus and looks like they're exactly the same size. I've started the phone with one and it works fine.
Battery cover is absolutely the same with this one as with the original. I didn't notice any difference in weight either.
See for yourselves:

I will charge one fully and test it asap and will post back the results.
Could you PM me where did you buy that chinesse battery?
I tested the Chinese batteries and they're weak, as I expected.
They held 3h 05m on WP Bench where as my 1 year old original Focus battery held 3h 50 min in the same battery test, that's 80% of the battery I have now and I remember in NoDo, on WP Bench battery was holding about 6h.
So, they're good as backups, but in no way better than the originals.
The originals should be better, in theory.
I bought the Anker battery from amazon which was around 10 bucks. Its also 1800 mah, but is the same size as the Samsung OEM stock batter that comes with the focus. Seemed to last about 36 hours with light use on my Focus. One thing I noticed - the charging indicator never stops blinking to say that is finished charging. IMHO doesn't seem to give much more than a fresh new stock OEM battery - although for 10 bucks I agree would make a good back up, thats about it.
Here's the link to the battery I purchased:

I never knew about WP Bench. Wish I had. My Focus had 420 or so cycles on it's battery and had a rapid performance decline in charge holding. It also blew up (physically) a bit. I replaced it with a replacement OEM from Batteries +.
The replacement doesn't seem to be the equivalent of Day 1 on the Original battery but maybe Mango and my usage is far more than before.
The knock off batteries, the misrepresented mah ratings, and even the out-right faking of batteries has my jaw dropped. Buyer beware.
I contend that the battery issue, battery fakes, and cheap replacements is 100% the reason Apple doesn't make their battery accessible. They want a tight control over those batteries to guarantee performance.
I just ordered the OEM from first post. When it arrives, I will attempt to do scientific tests and post results. I'll use WP Bench as mentioned before since that is likely the most accurate way to test.

UPDATE
Ok, Here is a Preliminary set of numbers with 1800 battery...
4:43:19
Same settings and still NOTHING running:
Reason I say preliminary is because this was after the FIRST charge. When the phone finished charging again, I needed to use the phone, so was unable to set it for a test run again. I'll attempt that again tonight. BUT, for the record, I took the phone with me to Reno, NV and used it for over 1 1/2 days without charging. Used the Internet, Maps, and Showing it off to family, taking 15 mins of video during the fireworks, and still had 10% battery left over... I'm really anxious to see what my test results will be this next time...
FYI, it is a fairly tight fit within the cover, but it DOES fit. Once I got all the snaps snapped, it feels very secure.

Yeah, that's strange, the link died on the first post. Here's a link to eBay with a bunch available... Look for part # EB625152VA If you Bing/Google this number, you will find other resellers too.
If you like paying full price, buy direct from Samsung: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EB625152VABSTD
Larger Battery Tests
Ok, final numbers, photos, and thoughts. The battery is snug, (if you look carefully, you can see a slight deformation on the battery cover where it is forming over the oversized Galaxy battery) but after it is snapped closed, you won't notice as jev3gs has already mentioned. Images attached.
I've made a correction for the time posted in above post (Copied it wrong), and have performed two tests with each battery, so I'm confident that the numbers here are correct. The tests were within about 30 seconds of each other on each battery.
Stock Focus Battery 5.55Wh 1500 mAh
PN# EB575152VA
4hrs 11mins 57sec
= 251.95 Minutes
Galaxy S™ II Battery 6.66Wh 1800 mAh
PN# EB625152VA
4hrs 43mins 40sec
= 283.67 Minutes
This is an improvement of 31.72mins, or 11%! That's using WP Bench which kills the battery very quickly compared to real usage.
That may not seem like much, but for me in my usage, that will likely equate to an extra 1.5 hours per day. 12 hours + 11% = 13.32 hours.
(According to the printed battery specs, you should actually receive about 16% extra, my tests showed a little lower. Maybe will get better with more usage.)
I have not done charging tests yet, but it also seems like it is charging faster. That may be in my head, but it seems like about an hour faster... I MIGHT test that later.
PS: Thank you jev3gs for the heads up on this tip. I was about to buy another battery anyways, so this is icing on the cake!
Thanks for taking the time and doing the review! Let us know about charging times too!
Thanks for the detailed posts SuperSport. I wish the OP had put this before I bought the Momax battery which takes forever to charge compared to the stock one.
Unfortunately, I still have not run verifiable tests to prove the charge times. It does seem faster, but normally, I charge it at night and don't pay attention to when it completes. I've been a bit to busy to run the tests during the day, so it will need to wait for now.
I've bought many OEM and Generic batteries over the years for both phones and Radio Control, and it's really hit and miss. Sometimes, the Generic blow the OEM out of the water, but usually, the OEM batteries outperform.

What do u mean by light use? My stock one, I use the phone for reading news from weave and wp7 news with WiFi enabled, and I got about 5h. I also play games for a little bit. That is my typical day usage.
I wish to use the phone for around half of the day or so, if this 1800 MAh could give me that much of power, then it is awesome

Using my 11% gain as a reference, you could expect 5.55 hours, up from 5 hours. If Samsung is correct, and it's 16% gain, then it would be 5.8 hours. Still not quite 1/2 day...

Replacement Battery?

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement battery for my phone? All of the ones I find are sketchy on Amazon, and the official Lg one is hella overpriced
for example, would something like this be reliable at all?

i've never trusted those gold batteries, i wanted to wait for one that seems decent, with a max of 1800mAh based on size i would expect thats the highest you could get into a battery that size.
currently testing this new battery, on its first drain at the mo, will be back with reports soon

Cool, as new batteries go i expect you got to charge them a couple of times to get the correct usage average. first drain still surviving, @30% now but that was with a few benchmarks after testing a few things for Stonebear last night. will probably start charging again at about 12% later today.

Reason why i dont get one of those batteries is because i dont want to carry around a Nokia P4000, start to have hip problems carrying something that big around. ( rather just carry one of these so i can charge my phone and psp on the go) that way i can still have my sleek O2x without the bulky back cover.

im using 1900mah batery.. it quite stand up until 1 day half.. :good:
Final drain test on new battery,
full charge gives me 4180mV
thats at a average of 1746mA +/- 24mA
will look into performance and battery life now that i've charged it a third time. and report back
I bought a "2400 mAh" battery from MyTrendyPhone (large Nordic/European online store for phone accessories).
It turned out to be 2800 mAh. Probably mislabeled by the store rather than the manufacturer. It's actually this one:
http://shop.onni-tec.de/Handy-Akkus...imus-Speed-Li-Ion-fat-Rueckdeckel::10090.html
Does anyone have any experience with this particular battery? Will do some non-scientific, subjective testing of course. Bought it on a whim because I got tired of my O2X dying halfway through the day (I'm quite a heavy user, it's literally down to 40-50% by lunch time). If it isn't much of an improvement, no great loss. It makes the phone more "substantial" but the difference isn't that great and the back cover seems to be quite good quality (also it offers far better protection of the camera lens than the original cover).

Is there another battery replacement that is good?
Usage Test
That Battpit Battery, 1800mAh.
Under medium to heavy usage.
listening to music 3-4 hours, Internet browsing, average 5-6 hours, videos 20 minutes, 5 calls about a minute each, 15 - 20 texts. bit of wifi, but most of the internet browsing was done under 3g.
i'll get a more standby focused battery life over the next couple of days.
ordered a 2400 mah battery.
should arrive in 2-5 days.
gonna make a review video.
I used a duplicate high capacity barrios like this and after fee days my phone used to drain without any use also and it used to heat up also went to lg care they told mother board is gone due to.difference in voltage maintenance as I used not the stock one they told use only stock batteries other high capacity battery will ruin your phone hardware...my phone used to die in Lees than 10 hours whether I use out or not...now it last more than 2 days those people who were telling there phone last more than a day I used to think they always lied.got my mother board changed from lg cost me around 50$ but more now phone is like brand new last more than 2 days and stand by station is like 1% in 8 hours..but stock batteries and go to lg care ask them is there any problem in your phone hardware ....trust me that's the solution
