Everyday I see that the First World countries talk about equality, especially for man and woman and their propaganda to implement equality in third world countries where allegedly women are abused and treated like slaves. Then how come it is that only the 3rd world countries have had women head of states till now, with the exception of UK?

Hypocrisy at it's utlimate?
I think you have a point, but with all the respect to you here (XDA) is no place to discuss this. There are plenty of forums that relate to this topic. At the end, this is a political issue and I just wanted to tell you that it's against the rules and probably this thread will be closed by a mod.
2. Be polite and respect your fellow xda-dev user.
There is no need for cursing, flaming, racism or personal attacks. There are a lot of different nationalities on this forum all with different cultures, this means that no matter what you're like, you'll have to adjust to people that are most definitely not like you. For this reason we'd like to ask you to refrain from discussions about religion or politics, we do not wish to limit your right to free speech, but we have noticed these topics tend to get heated and might be best discussed in a different environment. It will gain you a lot of respect if you help to keep the peace. It's disrespectful and therefore not permitted to create Alias Member names in an attempt to deceive others.
Amen clown brother
Agreed. Not sure if this is politics. I am not discussing Republics, Democrats, Labor Party, or a specific candidate.

LEGO comes to mind.
I never see people here helping each other build cool lego models..
So in other words, you're asking what's OFF Limits in a OFF-TOPIC section? Hmmm .... threats of any kind, damning or belittling(sp?) someone else's religious or political beliefs, making fun of people physical/emotional/psychological disabilities even if it's your friends or family member. Promoting racism, child porn, child abuse, advocating violence, and supporting rape is a definite no no and barbaric in my book. Making fun of someone's grief over a death of a friend or family is also barbaric.
Or how off limits can you be Off Topics section without being banned? As some say, the sky is the limit, but here, the limit is the sky, lol. Child rearing and relational issues are within the bounds in this section, which I haven't heard much about here. But who knows

Your previous post, sending people to survey links would definitely be off limits. Creating threads for free webhosting sites over and over again would also be off limits. Spam is something we try to avoid. Members help by alerting mods to these types of posts. Violators can be warned or banned, depending on the severity of their actions.
I'd also agree with the things robosiris said earlier, as we'd like to keep this forum a friendly place for all to enjoy.
Other than that, off-topic is pretty open. Lego Mindstorm projects would be a great topic
...so off-topic isnt really Off-Topic? or is Everything aother than xda phones

or is anything other than xda phones, softwares and gadgets considered as SPAM. Yes i do agree maybe I erred since I was kinda "zit" where the "limit" of Off-topic was concerned, no one would expect it to be so ENTIRELY "LIMITED"...
I STRONGLY agree 1000% with "robosiris" stuff like that should NEVER be tolerated... and commend XDA moderators+ for being swift on posts and for implementing this feature in their Administration.
Ok then, is it better to QUIT Off-Topic? Since "Off" is not yet defined...
SINCE the statement below contradicts the usual statements i get... "your topic is not related to phones, etc..... always about xda phones... and so on..."
Then IS THAT "Off-Topic"? yet according to Alex (moderator)... Of-topic is Defined...as pretty much Free..

I've changed my post to read 'off-limits' instead of 'off-topic' in two key areas, which should hopefully make more sense.
It was late and I didn't realize I was using the same words to explain myself, which tends to lead to a very confusing response
i simple do not know and even do not care what is in and what out - off topic.
but .... am glad to have a place where i can relax and read some other stuff than all about htc devices.
this is where i go when i need to get three steps back and after a while again move forwards install applications, customize, soft reset, hard reset, browse and read off topic, install applications, customize, soft reset, hard ... ;-)
cheers
No offense meant to anyone. But why was this thread closed ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609557
It wasn't posted in the wrong section. It is the definition of off-topic. It wasn't political. It wasn't racially or ethnically offensive. It wasn't obscene. Just because one ( again no offense ) didn't like it ?
I guess this begs the bigger question, what is the exact definition of off-topic that Mods use to decide on closing a thread ? What is too off topic. And is it a group decision to close a thread or is it a personal one ?
I have seen a lot of off....off....off topic threads in this section allowed to run their course and die ( " ...who here likes melon ? .....) Just wondering what is the definition and what is too far ?
As I felt that our discussion regarding the above-noted thread did not end on a positive tone, I took it upon myself to discuss my action of closing the thread with Flar ... as she is one of the Administrators of XDA, and ultimately should have a final word on what content should be permissible.
I remain firm that the thread should remain closed as it will simply serve to instigate a "flamewar" session amongst fellow XDA members or encourage comments that could be construed as a personal attack on Tiger Woods behaviour as depicted by the media.
That said, I am additionally concerned that closing the thread may also communicate a form of censoring as you implied - which is certainly not my intention. After my discussions with Flar, we have agreed to re-open the thread with the caveat that it not deteriorate into a personal attack on Tiger Woods or fellow XDA members.
Here is the relevant excerpt from our conversation

Don't get me wrong, I was neither offended nor did I think that you were censoring anyone's rights to their opinion.
There have been a lot of way of topic threads that have turned into fun little conversations. Getting personal insights and opinions on things from people who you usually interact with on a purely technical basis, let's you know people a little bit better and gives you an additional perspective on people. I think that is what off-topic is all about and there for. I don't think anyone is loking for anything constructive out of these threads, just fun.
I have always thought that moderation should be done in moderation. And if you thought that that violated the forum rules for off-topic, I thought that maybe it was time to start a conversation on what exactly off-topic was for and what content is too off-topic. And it wasn't just that particular thread, so I hope you weren't offended .

I have little interest in Tiger Woods' sex life or his moral make up. The only problem that I have is with " over moderation " In a semi public forum ( privately owned , but open to the public ) , as long as a thread does not violate forum rules, it should be allowed to run it's course and die a natural death. It is a public statement and the trashing of the thread , because one person objects to it's content or sees into the future that it " might " go awry, is censorship. I am however pleasantly surprised and most impressed that you were concerned enough to discuss it with Flar and return the threads. You have my utmost respect for doing the " right " thing despite your personal trepidations.
All that being said, let's get to my point in starting this thread. What is everyone else's opinion on what the off-topic thread should be. Aside from obvious offensive material like politics , war , race, ethnicity, porn, should we be allowed to discuss anything or just phones, HTC, or electronics.
What do people think off-topic should be, and what do you think is too off-topic
Sorry I have sbagliato where postare !

To answer your question as to what is off-topic? This thread certainly counts. You win the prize!
There many reasons to disolve the EU and/or remove the Euro. Countries cant compete, extreme debt, loss of sovereignty.
What do you think?
I think this thread's gonna get closed
My two cents xD
That would cause instability in the political legislation already set forth by EU members.
More dismay and frustration from the citizens of EU.
Also no direct political threads. It's bad like to asters

This is not a political thread. The EU is by definition not a political union. This thread is about asking an open opinion. Nothing to rage over something, its not politics.
I am not discussing here whether the greens, the blues or the reds are right, just what people think.

There is a difference between "definition" and "reality".
It is technically a political union since they agree mutually to legislate laws governing certain states of independent nations.
I like EU laws, they are the basis for today's modern political framework which are adapted by other countries. Like the EU data protection act and EU citizen censorhip act.
It's a waste of good mutual cooperation if it will get disbanded which is most likely not happening.

Sounds like you need to re-evaluate your life good sir.
How about people being able to speak in English? Apparently you can't read English:
2. Member conduct.
2.1 Language: XDA is a worldwide community. As a result, what may be OK to say in your part of the world, may not be OK elsewhere. Please consider who is reading what you write and don't use profanity, sexually explicit language, rudeness or swearing including the use of characters to replace letters in swear words. Conversely, while reading posts from other members, remember that the word you find offensive may not be offensive to the writer. Tolerance is a two-way street.
2.3 Flaming / Lack of respect: XDA is about sharing and this does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) or rudeness. Flaming or posting with a lack of respect is unacceptable. Treat new members in the manner in which you would like to have been treated when you were a new member. When dealing with any member, provide them with guidance, advice and instructions when you can, showing them respect and courtesy. Never post in a demanding, argumentative, disrespectful or self-righteous manner.
2.4 Personal attacks, racial, political and / or religious discussions: XDA is a discussion forum about certain mobile phones. Mobile phones are not racial, political, religious or personally offensive and therefore, none of these types of discussions are permitted on XDA.
It looks to me that you like to attack others for violating the search rule yet you feel it's ok to violate the rest so long as you feel it's justified.
These were rules you agreed to when joining XDA. If you need a translator to help you understand the rules that are already provided to you in the English language, I will direct you to one here: Help! I can't read!
What XDA needs are members who follow the rules and treat everyone they speak to with respect. You're doing us a favor here so allow me to show you the door: kan i pleez haz ban nao?

@travis82 - while you did not go about this in such a way as to provide constructive criticism or to receive good conversation in return, you do in fact bring up interesting points. (See there? A nicely structured sentence! I WIN TEH INTERWEBZ!!!!!! GIEF ME COOKIES NAO!!!) The most interesting is the point you make about warning for no reason (which is interesting in and of itself since the warning box is supposed to be populated WITH a reason), even with regards to constructive criticism (I took the liberty of ENGLISHIZING (that's a thing) your statement so as to make more sense).
So to that end, I ask that you contact me via PM, or the Moderator Committee, to submit your complaints and we will certainly look into them. We welcome constructive feedback (SWIDT?) from our community on how we can do better.

TY! I didn’t realize people were visiting a thread a couple of times a day.
I have two more questions please if may I:
In the apps threads, what are the people who visit them more than once are looking for? @[email protected] I thought that only the ones who create the threads are interested to see more traffic and so they are the only ones who visit their own threads more than once.
And the second question: who are the people who use XDA Forums? I’m not exactly aware of different societies among people overall.
Are those people mostly from US? Those forums are in English but US AFAIK is more of an IOS country. What do people find in Android? For me it’s a professional matter. I don’t know how others perceive Android. When I was a computer enthusiast (tech hacker) Android did not exist and I was concentrated in my university and high school studies. Ages I guess are Gaussian between 20-40. But I’d love to know more about the demographics here a little bit if possible . Up to the permitted level of course.
And I thought of one last question that interests me if possible, once again I’m just curious don’t judge me if my questions sound weird, I’m just learning. In the conversations that flow here in the topics, what makes people react to something that someone said? For instance why does a person reacts to an app that has been published in here instead of planning a trip abroad during that time or traveling between the cities on the public transport for instance? What makes XDA win his or her heart in that battle?
I'll try and answer your questions as best I can.

There are various reasons for this, mostly interest and participation in any thread are why members visit a thread a few times a day since discussions and questions are always fluid depending on various opinions and solutions.

XDA members total around 10 million world wide from virtually every country you can think of, and range in ages from 12 - 80+ as seen in my travels for 11 years on the site. And do not assume the US is just IOS country, that might get you some interesting replies on the forums. While there are many IOS users on this site as well, the predominant discussion has always centered around Android and the modification of devices since it's just plain fun to do. If you want to know more about XDA's history, have a look here.

The only answer I can give on that one is, human nature and freedom of choice. That is akin tho the old "Ford vs Chevy" discussion that I have seen all my life in the US over 62 years. People like what they like and do what they do because they can plain and simple. And that's about the extent of my philosophical knowleged. Hope I annswere your questions, and have a great day.
