Hey you guys. Not very new to windows mobile devices, except for the programming part, just learning the basics on my own by playing around with different software out there.
My situation is, i recently just just installed the latest rhodium SPL. If anybody knows where I would be able to download the original SPL back to factory.
Thanks.
Check out the HardSPL, there are some stock SPL versions (though not all of them) attached there
please search the forum before starting a new thread, thread closed.

I have a PDA2K I bought from Expansys a couple months ago and I use it in the US with TMobile. I upgraded the BT to .0035 and last night upgraded the Radio to 1.10. I'd like to upgrade the ROM from 1.22.126 to 1.?. I've read every upgrade post in here and that is where I think I went wrong. I'm really confused on what I need to upgrade to now. Too much information.
Given the above information, can someone tell me what version is best for me? I looked on the FTP site and there was too many choices for this little newbie.
Thanks,
Tom
The highest is 1.40 with radio 1.12, there are 4 threads on the 1.40 and it seems a lot of people are going back to the 1.3x manich cooked or 1.31 arabic.
Its a free world, do what you feel is best.
Since I've seen your name all over the place, accompanied by very authoritative posts, can you "recommend" which one I should use? I'd like to go with the 1.4, but I'm not sure what file(s) exactly I need. I thought I did, but as I started reading more and more threads I got more confused. It seems like there are a couple different 1.4s out there. I already upgraded my BT and Radio, but I'm not sure if I need the ROM and/or the Extended ROM. I've looked at the various files on the FTP site and I get confused....my wife says it happens often with me.
While I've seen HOW to do it, I'm not sure WHICH one I need. Might you be kind enough to point out what I need?
Thanks,
Tom
Ce rom
On wiki download the qtec 1.40 type I CE Rom only file (avalible roms)
on wiki in the radio upgrade ->download the type I upgrade files
on wiki in getting started download the ->xda3nbtool.exe as welll as -> fix bat.
Put them all in the same dir, Fix and then flash the rom as per wiki.
EXt Rom
Now you need the ext rom 1.40.147 in the kitchen availble roms
on wiki download -> unlock tool in kitchen tools
Unlock, flush old, add new, add your cust cabs, lock Hard reset.
BT 1.39 is part of 1.40 rom so DONT cook those files in your ext rom.
Hey guys,
I'm looking to revive the Harrier CDMA WM5 project.
I'm not asking for any help, but any links anyone can give me directing me to wiki's and files involving ROM cooking and the Harrier's system would be helpful.
If anyone is willing to help out, specifically you Blue Angel gurus, it would be greatly appreciated, but like I said, I didn't come here to beg for help.
So this is my understanding of everything so far:
I need to download the Harrier's ROM.
I need to download that of another similar CDMA phone that uses WM5.
I need to find differences in the files and the boot sequence.
Once I've figured these differences out, I need to replace and possibly recompile dll's.
After I have everything where it should be in the new ROM, I need to cook it.
The general problem with cooking for the Harrier is that no one can boot past the multicolored GSM Radio screen?
Is that all correct?
I know how to cook a ROM and would like to assist on this project.
I think the first step is to get past the GSM Radio problem. That means the device is stuck on the SPL and isn't even trying to boot the OS.
If it's true that the Blue Angel IPL and SPL boots to "No Radio" or something like that on the Harrier, that means for the most part, the IPL/SPL is somewhat compatible. If this is the case, the BA IPL/SPL not bricking the phone is a very good sign that either the SPL needs to be modded to see a CDMA radio, or a radio compatible with the SPL needs to be found. I noticed on my Titan (CDMA) that when the radio is extracted from a ROM, its filename is something like 06_GSM.nb. In fact, when building a flash file with NBH Tool, the radio portion is put in the GSM area. That made me wonder - are GSM and CDMA SPLs possibly the same, and the only difference is the code in the radio?
I think what we need to find is someone who can reverse engineer a GSM and CDMA SPL.
My thoughts were that the samsung i730 had some of the same components as the 6600. But I don't know the first thing about stripping or cooking a rom. The WM5 rom for the i730 can be found on pdaphonehome.com. I don't have a link right now, but a search there can find it. I am all for helping out where I can. I don't see any newer phone worth upgrading to at this time. So I and a few others would love to see someone figure it out.
Here's a link: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsung-i730-i830-i830w/74224-wm5-upgrade-gone-vzw.html
Unfortunately, stripping and cooking a ROM is the most trivial part.
The difficult part is getting the SPL to work with the CDMA radio. For that, we'll need someone who knows ARM assembly. I think to modify that SPL will require an ARM emulator and someone who can load the SPL and make the necessary code changes so it sees the CDMA radio.
From that part on, I think most of the BA's WM6 should work and we might be able to get some drivers from the i730.
I tried contacting a few people on the forum who I know are familiar with ARM and inner workings of the SPL, but they are apparently not interested.
Good idea! Port plz wm 5.0 =)
And i think may i update my xv6600 by windows mobile on samsung i730? (sorry for my English i'm from Ukraine
I am sorry to open a new thread for that but i got sick from flashing my rom for nothing
I tried 2 different cooked roms Energy and Dutty using the latest uspl and it worked BUT the screen is in NEGATIVE colors like old photographs before printing unless i get back to stock _HTC Touch HD_RUU_BlackStone_HTC_ARA_1.14.415.2_Radio_52.57.25.30_1.10.25.25_Ship
and this is the only rom that makes my screen operates normal a lot of people replayed to this in other threads advising to change the uspl which i believe has nothing to do with my problem
Perhaps you should listen to the people who give you advice and try a new spl as they say before making a new thread. As you've been told already an outdated SPL is almost certain the cause of your problems.
Just making new threads posting the same problem without listening to the help provided will only lead to annoyance instead of helpfullness and most likely a mod will close this thread (please do mods)

That's a little harsh since the USPL thread is very ambiguous... suggesting a USPL update is a nicer way of keeping your original SPL.
In fact a number of ROMs state 'Must have SPL xxx' but make no mention of USPL. I (so far have survived by USPL only without any measurable issues).
It is not entirely clear what functionality the SPL is providing above being the secondary loader and verifier of legitimate ROMs for reflash, clearly there's more functionality involved that some ROMs depend on.
It would be far better if the ROM cookers would say "needs permanent SPL to xxxx' or 'Flashable with USPL, with a min permanent SPL of xxxxx"
I tend to disagree, yes the thread might be ambiguous but in the info can be found within the spl and uspl threads. Also the point of my post was that he has asked but ignored the answers and made a new thread asking the same,. irregardless of how clear the info in this forum might be presented he could at least have tried the given advice or as many people seem to forget,.... use search and the wiki:
Here's a post about spl btw on the wiki which will explain what it does for the most part, found it in no more then 20 seconds:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=SPL Questions?
As for the issue itself which seems to be unclear to TheBrilliantMistake and the original poster:
Custom roms are based upon standard roms with a certain version of SPL, so flashing one of those roms will require having a certain version not lower then that upon which the rom is built. Looking at the ship version posted it's a very old one and thus has a low SPL, the cooked roms he's been trying to flash have been based upon a higher version ship rom and thus don't work with his low SPL version. Thus he needs to upgrade his SPL. As for USPL, thats just a temporary SPL so you just need a correct version if you want to use that, the pricinple stays the same as with SPL.
Hope this simplified explantion will do (correct me if im wrong, im no rom cooker yet)
ok, try and treat others as you would like to be treated.
Reason why your getting these colour issues is due to your SPL being incorrect for whatever rom your using.
There is a section in the wiki here which is worth reading, as well as this dummies guide to flashing tutuorial.
Any future queries on flashing issues should be posted in dummies guide thread

Hi all,
Excuse me if apparentely it's can seems I repeat old and answred question, but sincerely I have not yet sufficentely clear ideas on how I can flash my blackstone with an updated Rom.
I want remark that I have a decent knowledge on developing a program for W.M., but I confess that after read various threads and articles about, I remained in a great confusion yet!
The question:
I have a branded (Tim) Blackstone:
BLAC100 32M
SPL-1.13.0000
MicroP-BlackStone (Led) v6
Device Info:
ROM Version 1.13.401.0 (20428)ITA
ROM Date 10/25/08
Radio Version 1.09.25.14
Protocol Version: 52.49a.25.26W
This device ABSOLUTELY need to be upgraded to the Rom 1.56 (but first of all I WANT TO UNBRAND it).
After an initial problem (caused by the unricognized S/N), I dowloaded (using another S/N) from Htc the File:
RUU_BlackStone_HTC_ITA_1.56.408.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe
To upgrade my device, I want to preserve only the country and the language, because I read that it is necessary to preserve the A-Gps funtionalities (data changes country by coutry). Is it thrue?
I understood that I can't use it, cause the Tim brand of my device.
In my case only the brand is not matching, while the language and country are apparentely matching.
(But, why the "401" of my device is not matching with the "408" of file I downloaded? Can I use the file with this unmatching country code?)
1) - I have a great confusion on SPL, HSPL, SSPL, USPL.
2) - I have a great confusion because I not understood if Radio Rom upgrade and Rom upgrade are 2 different processes or not.
3) - Is the Rom version related (developed) for a specific Hardware version (as it is logical to think)?
4) - Is the Radio rom "country sensitive"? (As I think that each country have a different GSM Net).
5) - If want upgrade both radio and rom, what instrument exactely I need?
Please can you clear my ideas.... and doubts?
Thanks
Ignazio
Ok, you have managed to get an official HTC rom, you can also find some more here
If you use HSPL or USPL, this will allow you to flash the new rom. If you are intending on staying on the official rom, uspl will probably be the best option for you to use.
In response to your questions:
1) SPL - Second Program Loader is a boot loader after IPL (Initial Program Loader) often seen on smart phones and PDA's. SPL is similar to a BIOS in a computer and can be flashed and updated.
The difference between USPL and HSPL:
* HSPL is an user-modified SPL that you have to flash to your phone. It overwrites the existing SPL on your device with a "hacked" one so to say. It allows you to bypass the HTC certificate check and flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone. You only have to flash it once and then you can flash roms anytime.
* USPL is a temporary solution. It takes advantage of an exploit in the existing SPL and then loads a modified one to memory, effectively allowing the same thing as HSPL. However, since this is only memory-resident you have to do it each time you want to flash unsigned or CID-mismatching roms to your phone, because this exploited state is lost upon reboot. With USPL you must still have the right version of the HTC SPL that is compatible with the rom you want to use.
* SSPL is just another method of getting to change the spl and is only really needed if you experience problems using one of the other methods.
Hopefully this makes it a little clearer for you.
2) It depends. The radio is in most cases included in the rom. The rom you are looking to use included a radio. This is shown by the 1.13.25.24 in the name of your rom, so if you install that rom it will also update the radio in a single process. You can however also only upgrade the radio and then it is done as a separate process and will not affect the rom.
3) All the roms are initially developed for a particular hardware configuration I would imagine, but there are many fantastic chefs here on xda who take roms meant for other devices and are able to port some of the components to a cooked rom which can then be used on a number of different devices.
4) Yes, radios are country and area sensitive, so what works well for one person in a particular area would possibly not work as well for you.
5) You will need to use either hspl or uspl in order to upgrade your radio (if you are using one intended for an HTC). Some people have taken radios from other devices such as the Omnia, but in order to flash these radios you need to do a security unlock of your device and there are special tools that allow you to do this, but this is really only a last resort if you can't find an HTC radio that works for you.
The steps to follow in order to flash are described in the Dummies Guide to Flashing (see link in my signature) and if you have any further questions, please ask them in that thread.
Thanks for reply,
You cleared at least 70% of my doubts.

Read the Dummies Guide (link in my signature). If you have any more queries please post them in that thread as this one is likely to be closed down soon.
ROMS are a personal thing, so have a look at a few and read some of the more popular threads (ie the ones that keep popping to the top) and depending on the feedback received from users make a choice. Once you've flashed once it becomes addictive and you'll try a few before you find one that suits you.
another thing
after i follow all the steps from there all roms should work..after that finnishing them i start that rom update launcher that comes with every rom?
Continuing on Dummies Guide thread.......
As above, continue on dummies guide

Hi,
I have my HD from march and being interested in WM6.5 and disappointed by HTC because they do not release an upgrade I decided to try some cooked roms.
I used USPL so that I can keep my original SPL.
I tried:
* Duttys WM6.5 Sense 2.1 Holy Grail
* Duttys WM6.5 Leo Holy Grail
* Topix HD
From the first boot I have noisy screen image with 4 colours or something .... but after entering in sleep mode and restore it recovers to normal "true color" until I reset the device. I can live with that but the real issue is that I cannot start my phone using the original radio neither with the latest versions I found for HTC HD. No error there, it simply stays off after I confirm that I want to enable the phone.
Also the device is hanging for very long time now and then and I have exactly the same problem/behaviour with all the above roms. I tried some fixes found in the forum but nothing works and I did not found anybody with the same weird behaviour.
I wand to recover my stock firmware but I found that even I brought mine from Romania it has a Czech S/N and HTC does not provide a stock ROM for this "v1.56.402 - Czech republic - not supported".
What can I do. do you guys know if I can get the original firmware from somewhere?
Thanks.
Obviously you havent bothered to read anything let alone the guidelines of starting new threads.
The answers are in the forum I suggest you take time to read and start by reading the forum guidelines and the sticky threads.
If you dont understand what you're doing then stick to a stock ROM until you do or you might brick your phone.
You say that you used uspl. Are you sure that it was successful as the symptoms you describe are typical when you have the incorrect spl for the rom you are using. After using uspl, what spl is showing in the bootloader screen?
Follow the steps in the Dummies Guide to Flashing and your problems should be sorted out.
If you still have further questions, post them in that thread as the mods will close this one as soon as they come across it (as explained by homer285)
you're ok as long as you can still go to bootloader mode, then go back to the uspl 2.5 guide here, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS STEP BY STEP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377
and here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462347
format your sd card using fat32 (full format) (if you are a frequent flasher I suggest you get a small capacity sd card – 1Gb - and devote this only for flashing)
rename the RUU_signed.nbh to BLACIMG.nbh and pair this with ROMUpdateUtility -(application file) OR BlackstoneRUUWrapper (whichever the ROM cook presents) copy these TWO files in your formatted sd card.
then using Digital Outcast's USPL GUI: look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508361
if you're using Vista see this to update your sync driver
http://www.modaco.com/content/windo...u-on-vista-it-can-be-done-the-ultimate-guide/
flash the ROM.
I hope I make the above clear to you.
suggestion: Read the howtos!
If I was you I would do like this:
- flash hspl.
- flash latest radio from memorystick
- flash any 23xxx-rom from memstick (miri or phamQ can I recommend).
Cant understand why you are doing it the complicated way... there are ways to recover to original-spl if needed. This is the easyest way to flash 6.5 and it is almost fail-safe.
good luck!

dont add to the confusion, he is already using USPL, the SAFEST METHOD as stated by Dutty Throy, he even advocates this in all of his cooked ROMs
all he needs to do is to redo the steps again as i posted above.
Sorry for my panic post
Yes, after 8 hours of trying stuff I did not read post guide-lines but I searched all the internet and xda forums, tried all the dumb fixes for my weird behaviours without any success.
I am sure that my original rom it is not available and I call for help from people that have Czech S/N English version to extract the flash and the radio if it is no so complicated or if they have it as backup.
Actually I read every "flashing for dummies" posts and only when I thought I got everything I started to flash it.
I used the latest 2.5 USPL, the GUI one and also the command line from the cmd prompt so I saw all the output lines and there was no error at all. It is clear that the device was successfully flashed and I respected all the version requirements stated in description of the packages. The problem comes from some sort of incompatibility. The versions at boot is the right one.
The only wrong thing I did was after seeing USPL 2.5 coloured boot loader I go on with the tutorial which said to read on screen RUU instructions which said to connect with activesync and I did as they said and restart the device, cradle and continue flashing in which case the original SPL started and I got a flashing error on the desktop client but after restarting the device everything run normally with the stock firmware and I think I have a good understanding on how it work and I can say that that error does not hurt a bit.
I finally succeed, in the morning, to flash 6.1 vanilla topaz and almost everything works except the GPS module and I am investigating this issue.
It is clear that you cannot help me an my device issue related to WM6.5 roms are unique and I will investigate this on my own.
Sorry to everybody, again, for my wrong located post and have a nice day.
