How do you deal with not having to use an SD card? I use it all the time with switching phones between my Viva(Opal) and Touch(Elf) both of which are... "nonoperational" anymore so I am deciding whether this phone would be the best phone for me since money is kinda an issue. Any additional comments about the phone would be welcomed but right now this is my only dilemma regarding buying the phone now
Not a big deal... In pen drive mode you can move data quickly. 4 gig is enough for navi stuffs, a couple of movies, mp3 albums and pics. For the first time I found the built in mem a stupid thing, but after 1.5 yrs of use, it is proven to be enough and never had issues with it. Very nice pda (still the most handsome), solid built with razor sharp display.
Still love my diamond. just like my trinity...
@ OP
PRO'S :
- Internal memory is 4 Gig , so like the above member said , its quite enough for all your applications.
- Its doesn't get wiped out while changing ROM
- Doesn't get stolen
- Transfers are fast , not extremely fast but , quite enough
Con's :
- No more space... if u are a heavy user you will run outta space at some point .
- some users get a problem like after HARD SPL the internal storage wont show up.
I've been using diamond for more than 6 months and still i have some 2.1 GB free space..( i dnt listen to music on my fone )
Its the best in its class..the screen is just brilliant go for it
Until it breaks
Hi, I would have agreed, except if you get a glitch you've lost the contents of the 4gb "card"
Had mine for almost 2 years, absolutely love the quality and resolution of the display. TomTom western Europe uses up way too much memory though (almost 3gb).
(I ended up clipping it in front of an aircon outlet in the car, with the back off, to try and make it last a full journey without overheating; but that's another subject)
I dropped mine towards the end of a family break, during which I'd taken all my photos with the phone, so unless I find a way to physically hack in to hardwire onto the memory chip I've lost some lovely memories.
With a removable card that wouldn't have been an issue, insurance replaces the phone and you just swap the card.
I think they did it to avoid the dry connection problems that are possible with sliding contacts.
You'll learn to love the phone, the screen makes me forget all the little personality disorders that WM6 brings along.
Cheers
Luke
Oh thats cool cause I only use a 4gb microsd and it fits everything I need. Mainly just backups and cabs for applications since I'm a heavy ROM installer
I have someone who has had this phone for a little while and returned it because the backcover was comming off too easily and did not like that at all. Any comments on the backcover?
No comments on the back cover.. even if you carry it in a pouch , its bound to go... cant do anything about it..

No problems with it. I don't swap sim cards frequently, so no need to remove the back cover. Stays just like normal. Battery lasts for 2 days (3G off), no built in memory issue for me, the only thing a I don't like is the power button. Otherwise this the perfect phone for me. I upgraded the stock 1.93 rom to stock 2.03 and the old 1.00.25 radio to 1.17 and just excellent. I got gps fix within a few seconds. Have to mention, that I use this handheld as a regular phone, for other pda purposes there is my old trinity.
cool ...
Sounds good, Thanks a lot guys! you cleared up, I think, all of my questions
, Happy flashing
Bought one, got it, and now I'm going to start my work on it, SO EXCITED. this phone really is just awesome and the backcover thing doesn't seem that bad... Thank you all again

Can anyone tell me what's going on with my XDA2i pls. It's been very stable for the past 6 months which is the last time I Sprite backuped. But last week the camera disappeared and Windows media player appeared on the camera button. So I thought I would re-install the ROM then restore from the June Sprite backup - remember I have been using the camera which must have been on that backup.
After the ROM install, the camera is there and working, but if I try to then do a restore from the Sprite backup, the camera is removed.
Thanks
Mike
search it at here, im sure you'll find any camera software to install....
if you need something great camera application, try CoolCamera at www.ateksoft.com
you can do it! Mike!
thanks
Thanks Clustered .... I will definitely try that camera app, - does it improve the quality of the images (I find them much worse than the supposedly poorer camera in my old XDA 2)
I have since discovered that the camera app is not being removed (there are still 4 camera related files in the Windows directory), but all reference to these are being removed somehow, so that the camera program is not visible in the 'Programs' section, nor is it associated with the camera button on soft boot.
I have temporarily got round the problem by placing the camera.exe icon in the SPB Today function, so at least I can get it started with the stylus
Any clues .... should I be looking at some registry entries.
By the way .... ironically I would like to reprogram the default for the camera button to scroll-down which I use in microsoft reader. Do you know how I could do this (tried Vito button mapper yonks ago but it seemed to cause quite a few problems)
Thanks
Mike
I had this, do you find the battery is discharging at a quicker rate??
The history with mine was it lost the cam function swapping to WMP on the button. Only way to cure it was to hard reset.... of course it would go and do the cam fail just when i had got everything set up and running nice for a few months. I found as it went further down the line that using the back up i had would instigate the cam error quicker than if i didnt.
It started to do it more and more. So i sent it back, they said all fixed. of course it wasnt 'cos the internal battery had discharged thus doing a hard reset clearing the error
Finaly on the 3rd return they did a board swap... which meant i had to get tomtom to re do the activation codes for me.
Load of hastle but it hasnt been a problem in 3 months now.
Aaargh ! yes that's exactly what's happening - battery running down quickly, so I just ordered a coupla new ones (fortunately didn't pay the O2 price of £39 and have ordered from Hong Kong at about a fiver).
Sounds like it isn't worth me returning it to O2, as a board swap would cost a lot - it's 13 months old now
Interestingly though ..... a hard reset puts it right, but as soon as I restore data and programs from a Sprite backup, the problem is back. And yet the Sprite backup was done back in June when I definitely wasn't having this problem. And an earlier backup does not cause it. Does it seem possible that one of the applications we are using has a time -related problem? Only thing I can think of recently was the British summer time auto correction.
Thanks
Mike
dont worry bout it being 13months old they got 2 yr warranty!!!! get it down to them now. you will get it sent off, if they dont replace the board, call the number for the repair company as soon as you get it back, tell them its doing the same (as you can tell from my post before the prob clears n they just turn it round) they send you a package and you send it off as a bouncer, give then a fault report, they will swap the board.
make a note of all yer device info, imea, mac address etc. to confirm the board has been replaced.
i put a pen mark on the warranty void sticker under the battery covering the screw to see if they went inside.... they didnt the first times it went back.
if you have tomtom you will need to scan n send them a copy of the board change document to get your codes reset, also send them the device code tomtom gives you when you try to run it. they require that. it took them about 5 days to sort out at tomtom
You know what gets me about this place is i could have just said send it back but i prefer to give folks as much explination... like i would in return.... unlike i have had on posts ive made where folks have said post it in the right section etc.... not telling me where or assuming you understand all about reg editors or rom changes..... following link from page to page is so frustrating... sorry rant over now
hope you get it sorted soon.,... wish i could get my Q's answered.
Thanks mate .... I'll do all that. Fortunately I can afford the time, as I've got a couple of working XDAII that two of our guys ditched in favour of execs, so I'll just set one of those up until they sort the XDAIIi
Thanks
Again
Mike
Me too
Hi Guys
You have described exactly what happened to me. I use a Motorola BT head set (820 I think) and the tom tom navigator 3 with BT satelite reciever.
I gave up in the end. It seemed to be due to the BT stack or somthing to do with the Tom Tom BT drivers. I have 2 xdaIIi's and I now use one as a gps only (does not even have a sim card) and the other one as a phone (with the Motorola head set) I dont have any problems.
If I try to use two BT items together..... with in about one week the moment i loose the camera and the battery lasts about 6 hours from full.
If I remember correctly the head set would stop working or lock up the phone, you then have to do a soft reset then the camera goes etc etc.
I can tell you I am absolutley fed up with BT I am yet to come across a BT anything that works first time every time. Even if it does work today, tomorrow who knows if it will work. The reason i am looking athe postings is because my new £400 Garmin Nuvi 660 wont connect to the XDA!!**!^%$!£"
Any way best ot luck, you are going to need it.
Hmmmmm .... don't think it's bluetooth, as I don't ever have it switched on - I prefer to use the bog standard handsfree speaker kit and don't use GPS/TomTom.
Plenty of things lock up the phone though :-(
I've gone back to my XDA II and ya know what .... I prefer it. The quality of colour saturation on the screen is much better - OK it's not quite as bright as the XDA IIi but the latter is not really any good itrself on a bright day.
.... and the camera in the II is just a gem - OK only 640k but the way it renders the image is just like silk compared to the naff camera in the IIi
... and I'm not really gonna miss the wifi, and I never really bothered using IE in landscape.
So I think I'll stick with the old II and see what you guys think of the Orbit (?) when it comes along
Mike
Well.... great service (eventually) from O2. They sent me a replacement without even waiting for the faulty XDA2i. Bad news is they sent an XDA2s ....but they then sent an XDA2i the next day. It's not brand new but presumably it's been 'reconditioned'.
Charged it up, did a hard reset - camera was there OK. Did a Sprite restore from a known good time (last June). But camera had disappeared again
I guess it's remotely possible that they have sent me the one that Richard (?)returned but I think he said they'd definitely done a board swap on his.
Despite the good advice on here, I'm still inclined to thhink this may be a software conflict problem rather than a hardware issue. And somehow it seems to be connected with time. I had not installed anything new when I suddenly lost the camera about 3 weeks ago. I'm restoring from a Sprite backup that definitely was not displaying any problems when I made it.
Regards
Mike
my cam issue would come back if i used a restore from a good point too. But that was on the old board. Ive just done a full clean install of everything and its seems to be ok. I did wonder is some gimp out there had writen some kind of virus that i had got somehow.
It might be the startup programs/services...
Try checking the Camera_Detect.lnk if it's functioning normally...
Although I'm really not sure if it is the cause but I have a similar problem but not with the camera...
Rather, it's the rotatescreen icon...
I hard reset and the icon is there but when I have installed programs it disappears once I soft reset... not sure which of the programs installed overrides the icon startup...
But I think it's during the startup that somehow make these services (camera, screen rotate, etc.) fail to run because some of the programs might be clashing with them on startups/bootups/soft reset...
I think you might be correct, as the replacemnt XDA2i that O2 sent displayed exactly the same problem when I put all my stuff back on it, but after another hard reset I put just a limited range of utilities back on, and so far in a week or so, it has been faultless
Mike
Hi
i currently own a Vario 2 from Tmobile, had it about 18 months now and more than happy with it.
The question is, is it worth upgrading to a Vario 3. i have read some of this forum and seems to be a lot of negative views on the Vario 3.
So should i upgrade or just sit with my Vario 2?
the only reason would be if you needed integrated GPS...
In any other cases : NO
I dont really need a seperate GPS as i have a full tomtom.
so i guess the vario 3 does not add much more to the choice then.
more ram, more rom, larger storage capabilities.... its not just the gps chip
I would agree on the whole stability issue. My hermes was a nightmare for the whole 18 months i owned it. Soft resets several times a day, occaisonal spontaneous hard resets, crashes for no reason, sleep of death, non-functioning touch screen...the list goes on.
But the tytn 2 (which i do own) is a crippled platform (video drivers) and you may well find that waiting for something like the imate 9502 (if it ever comes) would be better.
I just bought one (but didnt have the II before to compare) and I have to say its far surpassed my hopes and expectations... so far that is... lol... I did and do own an Acer N50 premium pda and that I had to soft reset often and while the screen was a little larger the III is more clear and vibrant... all in all you wouldnt be going wrong getting one.
Yes forgetting the driver issue the Kaiser is better phone. Like Mike said much better feel and more stable. The extra RAM was really why I upgraded from Hermes and I am happy with it over all. I dont want to bring the driver thing to this thread also, but I wish HTC would do something about these issues. These days putting a unfinished product to the market is one thing, but saying we aint going to fix this is another.
I guess it comes down to how much you would have to pay. If you get a good deal and good price from your old phone why not.
I only use the office apps email etc. I dont use the camera, play games, watch video or use even the gps.
My heavyest use could be like: writing a new email, Word and Ecxel open for copying something for the email and i get a call, all in the same time. This is when i dont want my phone to crash and Kaiser is been working great for this type of use.

Is it actually any worse that previous model in this respect though? As in, can it be lived with considering the fact you no longer have to:

Personally I would put up with lag to some degree if it meant I no longer had to soft reset several times a day and risked loosing everything with a random hard reset...do you know how long it takes to re-install and re-configure these blooming things!

5 Minutes to be exact. sprite backup has made restoring a matter of minutes rather than hours. I do alot of testing with my TYTN II being an MS beta tester plus beta testing for a few other companies I have to do hard resets to change configuration. I have about 6 different backups on mine used for different tests but to hard reset its a breeze. sprite backup is well worth using (plug not intended)
I've been using Vario II for quite a long time. I had only issues with TomTom on the stock WM5 ROM. From the first cooked WM6 ROMs I've been quite happy. Nevertheless, I decided to change for Vario III. And I don't regret.
It's slimmer, I do feel that 128MB Ram make a difference.
There are 2 things I don't like. First one, I cannot use it as a torch when goin down the stairs to the loo in the middle of the night and that ****e quality rubber covering the microsd slot. After a few card swaps it looks as if it had been used for a year, not 2 weeks. If it was made from harder plastic, everything would be ok.

Its a tough one especially as i have a friend who owns a hermes and never has any problems with it.
Knowing what I know now I would probably not upgrade and wait a bit and see what appears in the next 6 months as well continue to pester orange for a properly functioning handset.
That said the Kaiser is VERY liveable with and does what i ask of it but the slowdowns are noticeable and quite disappointing.
I too have a Vario II from T-Mobile. Worlds worse phone by far. Mine's been back for repair twice. Keeps crashing, buttons lock up. Last time it went back because every time it crashed (twice a day) you had to reboot it. Then the alarm clock would go off for 40 minutes on vibrate and speaker and couldn't be stopped with out taking the battery out.
Totally fed up with this horrible phone. I was so fed up I put the phone in the microwave to trash the system board so T-Mobile had to give me a new one.
Got the phone yesterday and it crashed... pressed reset on the bottom with the stylus. This morning phones locked up again while selecting a ring tone. Argh....... I want my Nokia 9300 communicator back.
I'd love the Nokia E90. HSDPA and it has a good reputation.
I've an iPAQ 2790 with a 624Mhz cpu and 256Mb ram so I really don't need this thing from T-Mobile. Maybe ebaying it is the solution to my problems.
forgot to mention the new vario II back from T-Mobile has windows mobile 6 on it. Just as rubbish on this phone as windows mobile 5.
I personally find the Vario II with WM6 on it very stable. There is no comparison with WM5 - now I reset it more out of habit than any need. There are some issues but nothing that causes me real problems.
Having had both a Kaiser (on loan) and a Hermes for the last 4 months having to pay for an upgrade or going through loads of fuss to get one is not really worth the extras the Kaiser has over the Hermes.
A fresh user I would tell to get the Kaiser ofcourse.
Id also add that the vast majority of users in the Hermes section and from the people I know who use them havent had such extreme issues as soft resets daily and random Hard resets, most of the issues people encounter are due to 3rd party apps conflicting with eachother.
The driver issue with the kaiser is a pretty poor point personally since I tend to use coreplayer quite alot and the playback on the Hermes is flawless.
Id say if you already have a hermes then the added extras on the kaiser aint really enough to justify an upgrade (since knowing HTC a TyTN III or something like is soon around the corner), but for a brand new user its worth getting one.
I had a VarioII for 18 months before upgrading to a VarioIII, and I know exactly this dilemma.
Does the VarioIII have enough to persuade you to ditch the II?
My answer is yes - but with qualifications.
I had the BT GPS/TomTom/powered car kit setup on my VarioII, so the in-built GPS is of value. My TT Navigator software installed with no fuss on the VarioIII, and that is more stable (I had occasional hang ups in TT6 which hitting OK then opening the TT6 dsoftware again alays got past). Its behaved flawlessly in this regard, even though the GPS unit isnt as good as my BT SirfStarIII unit its certainly up to the job.
Like others have said, the extra RAM seems to make a huge difference to performance - very few soft resets and NO hard resets in the month I've had the phone. Also, I had the classic VarioII "screen align drift" issue, and I've not had to recalibrate once with the VarioIII yet.
My biggest issue is with the screen slide going the "wrong" way. It just seems daft. This means putting the stylus away with the screen in landscape is now a left handed function and damn fiddly, and dont get me started on where the scroll wheel is now! It used to be so easy to roll with your thumb in landscape mode - now its a right index finger job, and is behind the open screen. Poor decision, HTC.
I flashed my VarioII to WM6 via the t-mobile website, and that has performed better since, so maybe a VarioIII isnt a necessary purchase. However, I'm enjoying mine, and that is the best acid test of all.
Good luck.
This phone is making me like...crazy!
and this is why:
I synct some playlists to the phone with windows media player 10, suddenly all playlists on my diamond are empty.
When i removed all the playlists on windows media player 10 to sync them again, it deleted all my songs!
now i got all my songs onto the device again, and wanted to alter 1 playlist, it took windows media player 6 minutes, to just alter, replace, 1 pooping playlist!\
Its not possible to remove a playlist created in the touchflo music player itself.
Not able to select it and then delete it.
Half of the icons in the games folder are ****ed up, we already have a thread with solutions(i tried all of them), but none of them worked.
And the performance, even with the tlr rom or whatever the name was, the diamond still goes slow!
And the battery depletes quickly, with auto attach off, and incoming beam off.
Cant receive a file with bluetooth, with incoming beam on or off, it keeps saying my pc is a new device and asks if i want to set a password, no matter if i set a password or not, it goes back to the menu, and still says my pc is a new device
And i used a mod of the diamond tweaks thread, to auto lock my diamond when the screen goed off.
Well, 1/5 times, it autounlocks itself when i turn the screen back on. not good...
And finally, the opera browser is sometimes not doing what i want. sometimes goes to a random place on the page, if i move and let the stylus go, it moves back to that random page, to fix this i need to quit, then restart opera.
This happens about 1/5 times i use opera.
Is this where i payed 481 euro's for...?
Any ideas how to fix this sh!t is welcome, i already did a hard reset to try getting rid of some problems.

what do you mean?
theres a whole list of bad things there.
btw: forgot to mention that the diamond stylus made some nasty scratches on the screen when wiping over the screen in opera to scroll page, or goto next photo in touchflo, ect.
Got a protector included for that.
Install a fresh rom, I don't have any of your problems.
I use bluetooth a lot:
Sending files (goes hell fast), don't want to use cable when using .cab files here
For my parrot
For use as a modem (have reached 120kbyte/second) when online with phone!
All flawless.
I have very very good results with HTC's own new rom update via e-club.
TLR nr. 2 was quite buggy at my phone.
GOod luck!

Humbly returned to my previous P535.
I must admit that apart from Diamond, there is currently not many devices to choose from on the market... Was thinking about getting P750, but still unsure...
Xperia scares me, mainly because of the unusual screen resolution (dunno how all the apps will handle it) and that also is supposed to be made by HTC...
Maybe Diamond Pro will not suffer from these newborn diseases that my Diamond had - will see...
i think im going for the iphone 3g. will be expensive though...
the touch diamond really disappoints me...

Use the hardware buttons beneath the screen. You can navigate to the playlist you want to delete, and hold the 'enter' button to get the menu to get the 'right mouse button menu'.
Using your fingers it is impossible as it automatically selects the playlist if you press it. No menu will pop up.

Mwahahahahahha!!!!
Another Winer! XD
I'd give this post 5/5 for creativity, 6/5 for whining and -1 for usefullness ^^
you can almost FEEEL that you joined only after buying the phone, and I'd guess that it's your first WM one..
Anyway, regarding your problems..
If your phone really is that bad, it's probably broken (pre-production, grey, some dimwit dropped it in the shop or any other reason). In any case, return it by warranty, and get a new one..
Having so many people love this phone, and being able to fix the issues.. and only you and a handful of others run around whining.. Surely it's obvious that it's either a lack of hands.dll or a simple hardware failure..
I mean you should be smart enough to grasp it.... ermm.. right?
Cheers
P.S. Oh, and please don't be offended by this post.. It was mainly inspired by your post anyway, but it was written half-jokingly as I couldn't really answer seriously to that amount of QQ
@ 205_laCoste...
You're my hero.
Had a lot of trouble removing two playlists, but using the hardware buttons solved it right away....
Thank You!
I'm ready to throw my diamond out the window, for pretty much the same reasons. I paid way too much money to have so many problems. And I shouldn't have to flash a new rom. It should be good to go out of the box.
Before I'm also accused of being a whiner, there is a plethora of posts of people having the same problems....with no solutions. The bluetooth issue is a biggie. I tweak my phone to enhance it, but I shouldn't have to be a programmer to simply make it function properly. To suggest that is just arrogant.
There are things that I absolutely love about this phone, but simply as a phone it sucks.
most of the time it is not the fault of the phone but the person
using it.
a lot of people have come here after having a normal phone and
dont understand how to use this one.
treat it more like a computer than a phone.you dont have to be
a programer you just have to know how to read a thread and
follow the directions.
if you have a 1.37 rom you need to upgrade it to a 1.93.
1.37 is crap.okay it shouldnt have been but it was that why
it was upgraded to 1.93.
if you still dont get it then sell the phone.go buy a fruit
phone and get ripped off just like all the other sheep out there.
I have to stand up for nursie here. I've returned my diamond several months ago (yeah, it was driving me nuts) and am happily living with my P750... these offenses are absolutely not necessary and untrue as well as uncritically extolling the device - gee, it's just another PDA

I have to agree, to an extent.
It's generally accepted on here that the Diamond is badly configured out of the box, which is why new users are recommended to flash a new ROM. This is not a good thing, although it's great we have such a good community of chefs to help solve the problem.
What's less well accepted is that much of the HTC software on the Diamond is slow and awkward. I'm talking about TF3D and the HTC dialer in particular, get rid of them and you can make the Diamond a great little phone just like your P750.

I upgraded to 1.93. And I'm quite proficient at reading and researching. I'm also very proficient with current technology. I get it. What you don't get is that a consumer spending big bucks on this phone shouldn't have to resort to advanced tweaks (which I understand, BTW...you won't find me here asking newbie questions) in order to bring the phone up to basic performing standards.
Again.....yours is a fine example of ignorance masking itself as arrogance.
I dont have the phone here (its the gf's) but when i had the battery cover off it looked like there were 2 identical ports next to each other. one is labeled GPS on the back cover but the other doesnt open to the back cover. whats that one for? is that for an external wifi antenna? that'd be tits!
also, does anyone know if the current 3D driver plays nicely with the 6.1 update from AT&T? i dont see THAT rom mentioned on the class action website.
now some other questions...
any time frame for a 2D driver?
how long till theres a nice linux distro that'll run on it (i know the cpu is relatively weak compared to even lowend desktop and mobile cpu's that linux currently runs on)
and finally...how drop tolerant is it? my gf has butter-fingers sometimes and doesnt keep it in a case (imma kill her for that one). i'd like if it survived till she got tired of it or till its outdated enough that she moves on...because then i get to play with it ALL i want. i'd LOVE a nice portable internet device with gps capability for free, but will it ever be bootable without a sim card or a calling plan? i hope that oneday it will be!

also, does anyone know if the current 3D driver plays nicely with the 6.1 update from AT&T? i dont see THAT rom mentioned on the class action website.
now some other questions...
any time frame for a 2D driver?
how long till theres a nice linux distro that'll run on it (i know the cpu is relatively weak compared to even lowend desktop and mobile cpu's that linux currently runs on)
and finally...how drop tolerant is it? my gf has butter-fingers sometimes and doesnt keep it in a case (imma kill her for that one). i'd like if it survived till she got tired of it or till its outdated enough that she moves on...because then i get to play with it ALL i want. i'd LOVE a nice portable internet device with gps capability for free, but will it ever be bootable without a sim card or a calling plan? i hope that oneday it will be!

The 2nd port is for the cell phone antanna I here that if you use it, it can sometimes get stuck and cause you to have to always use an external antanna to get service
Im an electrician and the 1st day I got my phone I was on top of a 5' latter and the case got hung on something and opend causeing the phone to drop about 7' to a tile floor, dident hurt mine (thank god) but I wouldent recommend droping it the screens are fragile
I dont think anyone knows if or when were getting the 2d drivers

thanks for the fast reply and your drop sounds like it was pretty harsh. by zeus himself im going to get her a case. she works in cars all day and leaves it in her pocket or out on the workbench, the camera glass is already all scratched to hell from her pocket. i swear she makes problems for me to fix them...
speaking of, when i updated it to wm 6.1 i had made a backup using sprite, then i restored the backup after the wm6.1 update. well i did a dum dum and restored EVERYTHING the backup saved! so this caused all kinds of errors and problems and she was very pissed and instead of letting me fix it...she drove 30 minutes in the rain to the att store with me being pulled behind her by my ear (almost literally). some chubby guy played with the phone for about 45 minutes and then said 'i've never seen this before, its totally broke. the wm6.1 update you installed wasnt compatible' i told him it was the official one from the att website to which he said 'yea well its not for THIS device, you'll need to send it in for warranty'...yea OK. so NOW my gf is STEAMED! we go to get some chinese takeout. while waiting the 15 minutes i do a hard reset and only restore the contacts list. i hand her the phone and say 'the warranty dept is done with your phone ma'am'
she likes 6.1 much better and with some tweaks from kaiser tweak it runs pretty quick! the only thing that still pains me is the page tearing due to lack of 2d driver
Hi all,
recently one of my Kaisers died, still got one left though. It made me wonder:
- Is your device still alive?
- Who is using it as their daily device?
Use the poll and post your story :victory:
(And tell us what rom you are running)
My SIM slot doesn't work. I actually, don't have any working device working right now... I was using Android but it just got too much corruption and I was too lazy to do the partitions again, so I just installed some WinMo ROM.
Yep mines still going strong... Love it.... is my Work phone... Have 4 spare batteries so when away for long periods it is a god send... Not the fastest phone around but damn reliable!!!! Tried Android on it but never managed to get a decent FULL hardware working version on it... so went back to just winmo...
even have a spare waiting in the wings when current one died. LOL
battery replacement needed
Amazingly, even though my touchscreen died, the rest of the phone is working. I am using keyboard-kung-fu to navigate.
My battery is about to die/explode, it has expanded so much that the rear cover literally can not be closed properly.
I ordered a replacement from a local shop, and when it arrived, it was DOA because the stock was TOO OLD!! CRAZY!
I currently use my phone as a 3G modem (connected to my LAN router via USB)
Does anyone have any suggestions on home-making a replacement battery?
I have tried:
1) wiring up the + and - lines from a 3.7v LiIon notebook cell (device won't power on, but the green LED flashes if i hold down the power button). (Size does not matter - the phone sits on a windowsill)
2) wiring up a battery from an HTC Touch HD (only 3 connectors, not 4) -- same situation as #1
3) bought a replacement battery - new old stock from HTC - and it was DOA
4) bought a replacement battery - from some other manufacturer but I don't remember the name -- same deal, DOA
Is there any way to wire up any other battery? Size doesn't matter-- anything with compatible wiring will be OK with me.
Any suggestions?
of course!
it was last time i looked about 2 months ago
now ive seen this thread i will have to check again once i get home.
it was dropped several times. had the case replaced twice - the whole phone casing i mean.
first time was just because it looked a bit tatty
second time was after i dropped it while reading the gps on my mountain bike (yeah i know, not the cleverest thing ive ever done), i was crashed on the deck and could see my bike sliding one way and the phone another on its front side must have been one of the very few times that i was on my bike without the aluminium case and safety line
it would still look like new if my wife hadnt dropped it on the pavement, only minor scratches that time...
i still remember when i used to show it to people and they were impressed with the bright touch screen,
then i would slide the case open using the mario sound and the keyboard would light up and they were really amazed
happy days eh?
I use mine like an iPod now (kinda). I go to youtube and do web browsing
I use mine almost daily, on my second network on which i have an unlimited data plan. I flashed it with scoot's cyanogenmood 7*, in order to keep it working better than with winmo .
Kaiser
I still use it weekly. Winmo 6.5. I still like the simple ability to click on a phone number in an email and go straight to the dialler without copy and paste.

Android does that.
I pulled mine out of its box in the basement after it had sat there since Aug. 16, 2010 (based upon the last text message date), and not only did it accept a charge, but it booted right up. It's sitting on my desk right now while I cycle the battery a couple of times before deciding exactly what to do with it.
Windows Mobile Rocks!!!!
I still use mine everyday for calling texting and browsing it's not superfast but it is still better than any of them fisher-price apples.
@mfsr98: how do you make an i-pod out of a windows device? Did you blend it? or did you ran over it with your truck?
