Are there any icon packs out there? or do you just have to use what comes with your theme?
there's plenty. try a forum search or check deviantart.com for a bunch.
unzip them to a folder on your sd card and use bettercut to change them. it's tedious if you change themes/roms often, so i don't usually bother.
i'm sure there's other ways too.
Nice to know! thanks!! I'll try it after I update to CM5 then.

Quick question for users of this app.
I have cyanogen's rom installed and a really awesome ahome theme developed by crazydudeproductions. I am getting horribly annoyed with the lag i get from ahome and am considering going back to the default android homescreen. I know i can use the same wallpaper for the default home screen. Will better cut allow me to change all the icons to match what i have with ahome? I don't have the actual resized icons, i just sent the photobucket links to crazydude. Do i have to resize those icons myself, or will better cut do that? Thanks for your time!
yes it can...but next time PLEASE put questions in the right fourm
Uh, if you can't post questions about an APPLICATION here then anyone who has ever posted about an application and then asked a question about it should have their thread removed. I'm from TX, but you must be from the country dude cause you are a dumbass!
save the theme you want to sd then transfer to your computer.. open it up with winrar or anything and in the drawable will be all the icons and they should be the right size.. from there put them on your sd and apply them all with better cut ..im pretty sure even if they are 60x60 as long as u use the use icon image option it will resize it by itself (which kinda sucks because u can never have anything but 48x48 on homescreen then)
You need to get the apk for the ahome theme you're using, extract them, and then either pack them into an icon pack apk or just put them in a folder on your sd card
Got my answer thanks to Draxter!

[ICON] (Update 27 FEB) Icons "Victorian Time" + .psd file (512x512) to make your own
I added some Icons in the wrong topic (sorry for that) so there was a suggestion I should open a new topic. Here it is. In the first post just a few examples, in the 2nd post the zipfiles with the PNG files and some nice Steampunk backgrounds.
I made them in 100x100 and in 150x150. If you have an X1, the 150x150 are just the right size for you ;-)
If there are any requests please feel free to ask and I will see if I can make something for it. I made the icons for the programms I frequently use.
Actually these are part of a Wisbar Advance Desktop theme I am working on, but it can take ages before I finish it I quess, as I am never satisfied. The goal is to make a complete steampunk theme out of it.....
The PSD file (512x512) is on page 2 POST 11 (on top of page 2)
Enjoy
Cheers,
Arnold
And here are the zipfiles:
In total around 35 icons per category (100x100 or 150x150) and 2 backgrounds. Please take the backgrounds from the zip file, they are better in quality.
Cheers,
Arnold
They look great! Thanks for this!
They do look great. I generally use my own icons but it is tempting to have a page where I use your icons especially for "bookish" related apps like Booklist Lexicon wikipedia wolfs translator and so on where they in my mind would be ideal.
Gongrats with your new thread and thank you for a fine contribution to the community

Very very beautiful icon....
very nice job...
256x256 was better
Looks beautiful... Hope to see more soon...
thank you for your nice words. I think 256x256 are far to big as you can hardly can get 2 next to eachother on WVGA. With this size I have 4 on a row and just have a seperate page with shortcuts to my most used applications.
Cheers,
Arnold
These are very beautiful, no doubt they took quite a bit of time to make. Have you considered removing the text from the icons? This would allow the icons to be used for programs or functions other than those specifically stated.
well, I put the texts on it as I obviously made this for my own theme at first. But if you want I can put an empty background here so you can paste your own icon on it...
Cheers,
Arnold
hi,
i think that "sharing" of template (.psd, or for gimp) is very nice idea
so we can decide to place or remove text, paste our inner content of icon etc.
thank you very much
Okay, no problem, now you can make your own ;-)
Here is the zipfile of the bigger PSD file. 512x512 pixels, you can decide how big you want to have it now ;-)
Enjoy,
Cheers,
Arnold

well, I just saw your post and tried to download the zipfiles I posted and it went okay, no complains further on and it is downloaded quite a few times, so no idea what is going on...
Cheers,
Arnold
Love these! Folder?
LOVE these icons! Thank you SO much. Question from a total noob:
I've tried icons before using total commander to place them in the \windows folder. Only one or two would actually show up after soft reset.
Do I place these directly into the \windows folder? There is an icon folder that appears empty in the windows folder - not there?
After that, do I need to do anything else beside soft reset? Have not had too much experience with registry and usually need step by step - which the wiki does not appear to help with.
Thanks again and would love to see a donate button?
FOLLOW UP: I copied the files in the folder to the \windows folder and soft reset. Nothing changed. Anything I am missing? Thanks.

haha, coincedence, I just made the donate button as I spend days making other icons and wallpapers for WP7 themes ;-) Here it is! Thanks bro!
Well, if you use them in WAD2 just put them in your storage card and add widget using them as the image.
Cheers,
Arnold
i love this~~~
How to use without WAD2
Actually, I am not using WAD2. I am currently just running energy rom cookie monster and wanted all the icons to be different. So I copied the files to the \windows folder and soft reset. But nothing changed. Is there a way to use these icons without a different ui?
Thanks. Peace. Michele
Not real sure if this is the right forum or not but here goes:
I'm running Aloysius V12 and found some icons by manup in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682040
I flashed the zip and only got maybe half of them to work. I restored and thought maybe i could push the apk...thaat didn't work either. Even tried pulling the png out of the apk and replacing it and had no luck. After pushing individually or with the new png, the app disappears.
What am i missing or is this something that can be done?
Thanksguys
I am going to download the manup icons and try them out. I'll let you know if it works for me.
What ROM were you using?
I was and am still running Aloysius v12. After flashing the icons I got about 5 of them but it screwed up the rest. good luck and let me know.
Thanks
You can use the app, BetterCut to make any image you want, an icon.
Is there a way for non rooted people to replace the icons easily? not using bettercut. an app perhaps?

He is not talking about changing home screen icons, he is talking about changing icon all together. Like what is shown in all apps.
OP, I tried this flash as well and got same results. I tried this a month or so ago.
First let me say I take no credit for any of the work in this link, I can only take credit for starting the thread and sharing my find with XDA community.
(Some of you may have already come across it)
These docks should come in handy for everyone that has different themes or wants to match up a wallpaper, whether you have stock roms, custom roms or for those of you that have flashed new themes..
Enjoy......I hope you find them useful.
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/
Instructions..
1. Download Barcode Reader from the market.
2. Use the Barcode reader to read the images next to the icon or dock you choose.
3. Press on the image
4.Long press on the image, you should now get the option to save to your SD Card.
5.Use Launcher pro to set your icons or dock.
Here is a few Screenshots of some of the docks (not icons)
Last one is the one I kept...
Feel free to post new Icons and Docks in this thread...
Bump as requested
That's great thanks.
I was wondering where you got the text-based icons for your dock from. They are just what I have been looking for.
I think I have stumbled across them:

Or create them yourself in photoshop; start with a 84*84px canvas, transparent background and write the text in the desired color using the text tool. Save as .png.
the 84*84 you are talking about is that standard for Desire HD? some of the text icons i downloaded are quite tiny for me to read so i might try and create my own. normal icons launcher pro comes with are fine
Glad your finding the link useful...
Dude - why did you get rid of the pics of your phone layout?
Thank you so much!
Anybody know what needs to be defined in an apk for Go Launcher to see it as an icon pack?
(And without using their "thememaker")

I have the same question!
+1 for icon pack
studying urcipo
How detailed of an explanation are you looking for here?
If you know everything you need to know about making an icon pack and just want the easiest no BS answer, it is this:
Create a Go Launcher Theme, changing only the icons. Yes, it must start off as a theme, just change only the icons if you wish. Assign each icon to its proper internal activity name Compile into an .apk and then sign the .apk. I'm guessing the red bold parts are the things that you would need to look into and are possibly not doing now.
More? Ok.
You don't have to use theme factory, you can use a template somebody else has created. ThemeFactory makes a good reference to the template, not the other way around. The template is a much nicer thing, trust me.
I'll start off with the simple-ish version I guess. In order to be seen as an "icon pack", all of the included icons are automatically assigned to their proper spots, and the user doesn't have to change each icon individually. I'm guessing this is what you mean by an "icon pack"?
Shortest answer on how to do this: Create a Go Launcher Theme that only changes icons.
You don't want to use their "Theme Factory". Ok. You have a few options here then.
1) "drag-and-drop" your own icons on top of somebody else's iconpack.
2) Eclipse . I'm hoping you know something about Eclipse
If you know nothing of the Android SDK or Eclipse, and aren't ready to study a bit and learn, go with option 1) or use themefactory. Either way, it'll be defined as a Go Launcher Theme in the end. But with only icons to apply.
But I'm assuming you either know something or dont mind learning. You can start easy with a template.
You'll probably be using a Go Launcher Theme Template in every case...rather than handcoding every single icon name out...unless you're really just hardcore in love with writing code.
I think this may be the best template. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421724 Worth the read. Getting a bit outdated with some of the new/chanaged SDK coding, but it's pretty easy to figure out what to change on your own.
Also, Quinny889 has two of them made. . Reminder...this is NOT the dreaded ThemeFactory app . These are templates that you import into Eclipse and customize/fill-in. The template then does the work of "dealing with" the Go Launcher/SDK compatibility issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324378 Best one. Recommend using this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314753 Older version, takes some tweaking to make work, but far more streamlined/simple once you do figure it all out. I recommend the newer template.
(Both are templates courtesy of Quinny 899!)
They come with instructions in PDF form as well...quite simple if you take the time.
Basically, fill in with your own icons. Compile the APK. Download/use ZIPSIGNER2 or similar APK signing program on the APK so it can be installed.
http://activities.droidicon.com/ -->You can get the names of the "activities" you assign your icons to here. For example, search for go launcher and you'll see what I mean.
Yes, it's a bit tedious in any case to assign each icon to its proper spot.
The TL;DR version to answer your question if you already knew what you were doing: Grab a template, build it up, compile. Sign it.

There are resources around for every type of launcher, just search! Hope I helped at least a tiny bit.
