[UPDATE 3] [11/13/08] Android Skinning Pack [LANDSCAPE UPDATE] [HELP VIDEO ADDED]

I've put together a compilation of all the images i could dig up (or create in my free time) for android. I personally use them for WAD, but i've seen the requests for android skins all over the forum so i thought i would help make it easier
If you have requests, i have a pretty good library of screen shots from the g1 right now and can extract buttons, menus, ect....

Looks pretty nice to be honest, its good to get a change from the overdone Diamond look but the images seem abit choppy around the edges... hopefully thats just the screenshot.

they got streched a little (sceen shots) because i used my mobiler on a widescreen computer instead of doing it from the device...... o well

hi.. i've also been busy making themses and icons from the G1 and Android ever since the SDKs and the phone itself was announced..
i tried making skins for Homescreen++, rlToday, UltimateLaunch and WAD2 but individual plugin/engine shortcommings make it difficult to fully emulate the Android Homescreen UI..
so i abandoned all these projects midway and all i got was bunch of unsused PNGs and background images and UI graphics from the Emulator, screen shots and other Android apps in the AndroidMarket..
i've uploaded some of the images i have and some Android styled icons for other 3rd party apps (such as Mobipocket Ebook and coreplayer) - which i made myself..
there are lots other icons i made, like for s2u2, s2v and ftouchflo, oxios hibernate, wktask, etc, but i can't find them anymore (as of yet) within the mess of my harddrive.. it seems that i may have deleted the PNGs along with other useless stuff.. and i can't find the original SVG file which contains all of my Android icons (i use inkscape and making multiple icons in a same file makes it easier to copy/paste and duplicate elements).. i'll upload them when i found them...

my theme i currently have running is to large to "export" but i can copy my theme files and post them to get you started if you like..... i included some links in my "android theme" file under the "resources" file so you can open a new text message or go dirrectly to your inbox intead of account picker when "running an application" with a button

Really?? That's very exciting.
I am actually running Android on my Vogue now... and I must say, it is very nice. It's missing YouTube (doesn't work on Vogue) and Office (I have EverNote, not the same...). Making WM like Android, but with WM apps would be a dream

Thank god thought i was gonna have to dig up from scratch.....

Expect another updated soon.... Working on more Program icons now, does anyone have suggestions?

[SKN] BlueFlames all around for QVGA

UPDATE: 1-13-09 Moved from General, added PCMK .14 and Today background. Can someone put together a tsk if I provided the colors? I have attatched my tsk can you just change the image to my today background? I cant seem to get my theme creator to work anymore. Or can you point me to a decent free one?
UPDATE: 12-22-08 Added color to commanager icons, Fixed issues with cabs not installing, added skin for stock keyboard, added skin for PCMKeyboard .19
I'm not a pro, but just thought I would offer a little variety(more the merrier,right?). These skins are for QVGA devices, work great on my kaiser. Some may only work on kaiser or device with 320x240 or 240x320, so make sure to backup your device before installing cabs. Let me know if you have any problems with installation. I am new to putting together cab files and all that, but they all worked fine on my device. Please give any feedback or suggestions. These are some of my first skins and would like to know how to make them better, so if anyone with experience could help me out, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks for looking and trying these skins out. I am planning on making skins for every aspect of my phone that I possibly can, so check back every week or so. Please leave feedback so I can iron out any issues. I will most likely be re-doing the Action screen to look more like the commanager and dialer. Right now it seems a little dark.
NOTE: These pictures do no show up well, I'll try to put them together and post one pic with all.

It is resized from the qvga which loses clarity but you will have to google it to find the VGA high resolution. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. (480x640) Here's another one somewhat like it in a high resolution. It is 480x640.

Ok this is the first relase
i've created a zip, inside you'll find
- all the original cabs to install plugins
- my cab
-some extras like wallpapers, taskbar skins, and the Japs fonts...i left everything separate so it's your choice
as you can see in the last screen i've made 2 more listback pngs you'll find in extra folder...
same as fonts...if you like just overwrite in \windows dir and restart/reboot

i vote no. make it a seperate cab install. (mostly cause i have my own personalized taskbar)

unfortunately i have only a qvga device...
but if someone is interested in porting to other resolutions just PM me
all icons are in 86x113 like the default ones so no big problems for them

Winterface 2.0 is out. My skin Googleface is available for download from VITO's website, along with several other skins. Unfortunately, VITO went with my first version I sent them and ignored the second.
So here it is:

Installation:
Run the cab file from your device and install where Winterface is loaded on your phone. Go to options, skins, ouila!

Hi there - I'd really like to have a go at customising my own Winterface now that I've upgraded to 2.02.
How do you package the files (particularly the icons)? I can't find any information anywhere and VITO seem intent on keeping it a big secret.

Skinning it actually very simple, but good lord, it would be complicated to explain.
Basically, take a bmp like the one in the screenshot. When you save, and this is VITAL, it needs to be saved as 16-bit, R5 G6 B5.
Now, the EASIEST thing to do is to simply replace over a same named file on your phone, i.e., build your icon set on the icons.bmp and replace it with your new set.
If you want it as a separate theme, you're going to need a hex editor to edit the skin file and a cab builder if you wish to share it.
Any other questions, feel free to ask.

No. Actually, I just copied the URL link to whoever did the original on DeviantArt. The version on my phone is exactly the version you see here.

Just installed the latest version of Winterface and using the googleface skin
just about to try your heroface skin.
When i add applications they obvoiusly show with their default icon, is it possible to edit the icon and replace with something that matches the skin set?

Can I use the cab files/skins for Winterface 2.0 to install them in Winterface 1.3? I mean, WF 1.3 is able to cope with different skins. Should I somehow extract the files from the cab and then copy to bin? I tried, but even when just renaming the files to e.g. lynx.skin, lynx.bmp and lynx_icons.bmp doesn't work. I know this should be possible somehow, but I don't know much about cab files, etc.

Well until now i don't know if there is any other mobile shell except winterface for wm2003se, but it is great and has that iPhone spirit in it, so I've tied to make it much cooler and more like iPhone so here is the icon set which will make your sms camera contacts file explore running menu calc pictures phone email iexplore wmp notes find and the calender
(well the cal is up side down and red&black not white)

i tied as you said a hex editor but i did not know anything :S i was shocked i dont really know what is the heck is hex thing (except that one in the windows registry) could you explain to me how to add a background for my little icon set plz!!!!!!!!! plz!!!!!!!

i dont know other version... where can i download it?
you can try install qvga it might work: there are 3 kinds of graphic files in htc task manager - *16.png *32.png *64.png (meaning image size 16x16/32x32/64x64) - i colored only *64.png for wvga and *32.png for qvga but *32.png files also exist in wvga version so maybe your task manager uses *32.png files.

Working fine on my device, adds some colour to an otherwise dull looking taskmanager

What I'm trying to point out is that there are two options in the settings the show "small list" and "large list." Your cab only supports the large list not the small list.

Works excellent on HD2.. good release..

i have installed the qvga version on my winmo 6.5 with spb mobile shell but how can i start the task manager,i cant find him.

v2 version is graphic files only it should work on any device, v2.3 includes also registry but its comm manager related & my rom is from leo so i think it will also work.
