hello everyone!
this may seem a bit strange but is there a way to remove the native gmail app from android 2.1 (nexus one)? since i use the native exchange email client, i am getting a lot of duplicate emails; really annoying!! i have root access. please help, thanks.
well its not what youre looking for but you can just apply a filter on gmail so it wont show up in your phones inbox. but i also dont think you can remove gmail :\
Or, unsync Gmail.
I would just like to keep it from starting up unless I start it. I dont use it but since there is no way that I have found to get the market to switch over to sending my reciept for paid apps to email accounts I actually use it has to remain accessible.

I am noticing that there is still no way to search messages in the default email app. Also, still no way to move messages to a different folder. This is such a shame since the default app is so much faster than Touchdown. Has anyone used Moxier? Is it better than Touchdown?
How can we let Google know that we need search and ability to move messages with the default app?
Hello, I really need some help with some email problems here with my nexus 1 (att 3g vers).
It has NOT been rooted, and has android 2.2 installed (prefer to not root btw).
Anyway, the problem is in regard to the android EMAIL app (don't know it's name, but it's the icon of the envelope and yellow @ symbol in it).
I've set it up to handle my other email accounts (comcast and godaddy accounts) - not Gmail. Everything is setup finally and working fine...but for one problem...
once an email arrives, i get the notification...go to read it, BUT - then after reading it...it's then moved to the trash automatically (the trash in the email app that is, it's not removed from the server.
Driving me nuts - it's no longer in the inbox area of the email app, for each and every account). Each email just automatically disappears (goes to the trash) upon my reading it one time.
I can go to the trash folder and read, but this is ridiculous...shouldn't I be the one moving emails to the trash?
Can anyone suggest a fix here, or know of anything I can do to stop this?
I see no settings to change this...it's a serious bug.
Or...is there a better email app (one like this, as I do like the look and feel of this one built into android 2.2) that I should be using?
I downloaded K-9 email (but really hate it's look, feel and operation compared to this one).
Maybe there is something I'm not getting here though and need to change?
It's very strange that ea email would move to the trash upon 1st reading it.
thanks for any help here
also, i have tried searching this site for this problem with zero luck...
but i can't be the only one seeing this issue, right?
again: these accounts are my comcast and godaddy email accounts (not gmail, hotmail, etc).
thanks again
sorry man, I tried looking at my settings to see if theres anything I can suggest. Nada...
update to my Q:
Ok, doyeee
I think I know what's going on....
I was just setting comcast and godaddy accounts up and had the the email apps open on my PC at the same time while running tests.
When I did email tests, and having the PC email apps open for the same accounts...after they download to the PC is when they will go to the trash on the nexus email (not staying in INBOX on nexus when the PC email app has downloaded them).
This might be standard (I don't know as this is finally the first phone able to handle emails like this.
Hmm, i'd sure prefer it if all emails could remain in the inbox (or some other folder other than trash) as I can't hit "reply" once they're in the trash should I later want to reply to the same email with more info later on mobile.
Can anyone suggest a fully featured exchange email client? The stock one is missing what i feel are two key features:
Search and auto correct
I like the UI and the full integration with stock contacts/calendar. Also, the stock one seems to run into security errors or other unknown reasons why it won't sync and i have to add and remove the account to get it working.
Touchdown seems slapped together for the tablets and wants me to confirm everything, which is very annoying. Also, it isn't integrated with the stock stuff.
I use Touchdown on my phone and my tablet. You only have to pay for it once and it loads on both. It works very well and has tons of features.
I know you said you did not like Touchdown, but that is what I use on my Xoom as well. I do not mind the layout and while quirky at times it still gets the job done better than the stock email client.
The two biggest problems I have with touchdown are that it isn't integrated with the rest of the android system (calendar/contacts) and that it constantly pops up little warning windows... why do I need a warning when I send an email? There are other little things about the layout that bother me, such as the email action buttons that are too small, the inability to delete an email right from the main screen, etc.
I guess what I really want is Outlook on my android

You can disable the warning windows for sending/deleting emails. You can also delete emails from the main screen by long pressing on that email and hitting Delete, FYI.
Am also using TD on my Xoom. Don't love it (stock was prettier) but lack of Search on stock Xoom client is a killer. I'm probably going to return my Xoom this weekend and try to pickup a GT 10.1 in NYC next week...we'll see if it has a different client (doubt it but their KB is diff anyway).
+1 for touchdown, you do need to tweak a couple settings like mentioned above but the MAIN thing "I" like is that it allows me to keep my business email separate from my personal.
I have been using Touchdown since I first purchased my G1. When I bought the Xoom I was able to get the email app to work to synchorize my work emails and calendar. This was OK, but I soon went back to TD for two reasons:
1) Since I don't necessarily want to see work emails on days I don't work (4 day schedule), the ability to turn off push on a schedule is a real plus.
2) Keeping work email segregated from personal lets me keep my sanity.
After the 3.1 update I went back to TD. Nice to see the registration from when I used it on my G1 still worked. It's feature set is great. I really wish they would overhaul the UI...it's flat out fugly. If they made the app with some curb appeal, it could gain traction as a serious alternative.

Month old note 3.
Disabled magazine and now get email message "unfortunately, email has stopped" I see from threads elsewhere that this is the issue.
I DO NOT WANT magazine. Is there someway to eliminate all the junk on this phone without killing the apps that work. I thought my Atrix was bad but it isn't nearly as crammed as this phone. I have 26 apps turned off, and some more that wont give me the option. I use this device for work, not play, and only want the apps I need.
Samsung please fix!!! Give us an option to unload all the crap with the next update. You are killing a really nice phone.
Anyone have a work around??????

What email service are you trying to use? If it's hotmail or yahoo, use the Outlook, or yahoomail app instead of stock email app. Gmail works fine with magazine crap removed.

Thanks I switched to the gmail and yahoo apps and for those accounts. Need to find a suitable outlook replacement. The corporate sync that came with phone still crashes and burns.
Thanks and Peace!
I have that also... I froze Magazine with TiBU. When I get the email crash, it will often open the 2nd or 3rd time.
I am using gmail it`s work fine for me after disabling magazine

Mine also opens on the 2nd or 3rd try but it is too much of pain. I haven't had time to try another outlook app yet (don't know which is a good one).I hope they fix it soon, my wife needs a new phone for work too, and if this isn't resolved we wont get a Samsung.

Have you tried flashing a gapps package? or just replacing the email.apk with a google version?

No haven't tried anything for outlook yet. The only mail account I have to move is the one on a corporate exchange server. Need to make sure what ever I substitute is secure (as well as can be expected that is). Nothing cloud based.

Try this: you can PW protect the app and or leave out the PW.

On trying to configure the built-in email client, the gmail setup errors with "unable to establish connection with server".
I have made contact with Huawei on the matter, and the response was that I had to install Gmail official app. That made me wonder what Huawei is doing with their email app. They have issued the app with a separate setup for gmail account connection, but it does not seem to work. And they recommend using a different app.
Do they not care to maintain their own app? And if so, this being their general attitude to problem solving is disappointing. And leaves an impression of a half-hearted effort in development.
Anybody having found a way to work around the issue?
I find using anything other than the Gmail app to manage my gmail a pain in the ass - not sure why you would want to use Huawei's app for Gmail. The Gmail app is way faster and better to navigate. In saying that, I do have 3 gmail addresses (2 google apps and the other Gmail) so I don't ever need a 3rd party email client.

I agree to using Gmail app, and its benefits. It just struck me that they have this issue and don't address it at all. They could at least have removed the option, as long as it is not working.

Hi guys, I just started using Huawei P10 a few days for work. I setup the email using huawei native client and I like it. But since last night, I notice I didn't received any email. I tried to send email to myself but the email didn't go through. I'm curious and check my email using my laptop. Then I saw few email came in.
Then I'm wondering what's happening here? I press sync few time but came out "Couldn't open connection to server".
I tried removing the email and perform setup again... didn't work either.
Has anyone got the solution why this happens?
I'm not saying the gmail apps is not good, but I prefer in that way. Almost like using outlook.
I have a few gmail/msn address, and they all worked well with native Huawei mail client. no problem.
I am using a BlackBerry z30 now, and I loved the blackberry Hub, is that something similar in android? and free is better, or one time purchase is ok,
