How to receive/send file over bluetooth for NoMoRootFS donut..??
I know...there are many thread´s about root and su and permissions (so please don´t beat me... )
like here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448775
and here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=449536
But nothing work for me...if i will receive file with "Bluex" and "Bluetooth flile transfer"
it says System is not rooted...but eg. Myn´s warm donut is rooted and i also added write access:
mount -o remount,rw /system
So what´s the problem..??
Is it complete impossible also with the extra programs..for donut...and with what version of android it go...eg: eclair..donut..sense...??
Have a polaris..
edit: can send but not receive files
Hope for answer or help....
Thanks in advance...with kind regards...Alex

Installing Launcher.apk [SOLVED USING APPS INSTALLER]

I can't use adb, please don't call me a noob.
I want to install rogro82 modified launcher.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=538871&page=10
there's a code in the thread to install using terminal, but it doesn't work.
Can anyone please provide the code to install through terminal.
Thanks!
put it on your sdcard
su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cp Launcher.apk /system/app
reboot
try that?
You dont even need the code. Just put the .apk into your sd,download Linda File manager or OI file manager, and install with that. It works like a charm. I myself used Linda.
Thanks, but just found out. (also thanks futango )
You can install it using AppManager... since it's .apk.
So far I have ZERO problems too!
Ah ok, didn't think it would work though ...because it installs to /data/app. Eh whatever. good job getting it to work. Switch thread title please.

I'm looking at how to do this too?
I can't post a link bc I'm a new user, so Google "bgill55 market fix" and click the first result - should say something like "Leaked Version Froyo Market Fix - Team Chaos - AllDroid Public ..." The link is to an AllDroid forums thread.
If you haven't registered for those forums, do so. Then download the .zip file in the first post and flash it using SPRecover (rename to update.zip) or just use ROM Manager/Clockwork. It work for me without a hitch and now I can see all of my apps
Brand new as of this morning build.prop
this version of the file is easy to load(more or less) it will set your version and fingerprint to look like stock OTA frg01b
open a terminal window
su
mount -o remount ,rw /system
cd /system
chmod 666 build.prop
open astro and copy from the zip file to /system
return to terminal
chmod 444 build.prop
reboot
Need stock FRG22D build.prop
If anyone could post the stock OTA build.prop from FRG22D i would be greatly in your debt, either post the file here or put it up on paste bin or something please...
SCORE!!! found the finger print the rest is easy, if you have followed what i posted before and have the /system remounted as read/write edit the build numbers everywhere you see them, i used astro for the editor and change them to FRG22D once you get to the finger print the good part is the 50454 bit you will see 2 places to put that new print. happy marketing
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.2/FRG22D/50454:user/release-keys

How do you enable North American Bands on Telus Milestone

I have noticed that some ROMs (nandroid backups) do not have the 850 MHZ band enabled for AT&T North America and show up as No Service on my phone. How do you enable it?
I assume it has to do with the build.prop
I've got the same problem...
Take the following five files from /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default on a working firmware and put them in the same place in the other firmware.
File_Audio
File_Audio2
File_GSM
File_Seem_Flex_Tables
generic_pds_init
Permissions are -rw-r--r-- for all files and user/group are 0:0
I have done this to enable the MotoFrenzy based on EU firmware to work on the Telus network.

Root Explorer is one of the easier ways to copy the files. It's very much work the cheap price.

im having the same issue and tried several times, what did you do diff. to make it work? thanks
you can try the following: go to the testing menu (put *#*#4636#*#* in dialer). Choose Phone information and then push the menu button and choose Radio band where you can choose USA band. I get an error message in the stock euro rom but maybe it works for you.

thanks friend, but it seems like i'm getting the same error as you "SET USA BAND UNSUCCESSFUL"
i able to copy the files over from a working 2.1 rom, i must be missing a step.
ok i got it working, i was missing a very important step, i hope this helps some of you.
after overwriting the files, the file permissions and user/group ownerships changed.
first remount the /System in Read Write mode in ADB
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
Then i had to set the proper permissions using chown and chgrp commands via ADB (As stated in the previous posts)
example: chown 0 File_GSM and chgrp 0 File_GSM to all 5 files.
thanks again.
hey guys, so i used an app call super manager to copy the files you said off the workin flash, then i loaded my froyo 2.2 softwar on my milestone an then went back to super manager an pasted the files in the same place i got them, i dont got a signal still, but at the same time i feel like im doing somethin wrong because it never asked me to over write teh files, thanks please help

[Q] Apply Market Fix

OK. Pardon Adndroid Noooobness.
I have the device incompatible Android Market problem with NC.
Running CM7
I found two fixes.
1. Set DPI to 160
2. Edit Build.prop to make nook present itself as smamsung *something S*
I downloaded ROM Toolbox and after going through what I think is EVERY icon and setting I cannot find where or how to change the DPI setting.
I have modified the build.prop file using ES File Explorer but cannot get the file to copy back from the sdcard to the system folder. Protected or in use probably. Tried booting to CW to copy but dont know how to do that either.
How can I get actully appy either of these. I have searched but cannot find this answer.
Thanks
How about just reverting to the old market, clearing the market data/cache and uninstalling the market updater app?
did not seem to help for me
Did that as well and that did not work. As soon as I connected to the Market it closed and updated. This was after removing the updater and clearing the cache.
On another note, does anyone have the BN reader.apk and the Kindle.apk. Hope I have that terminology right, and the instructions for installing apk files. Sure I can find those instructions.
Thanks
To edit the file in /system, start up Terminal, become root by typing "su" and remount the /system partition by typing "mount -o rw,remount /system". Then you can edit all you like. When you're done type "mount -o ro,remount /system" or just reboot.

I have CM7 on an SD card and tried this command. I get the following:
mount: not found
Any suggestions?
I tried this command and I am not sure I am putting it in right. I do not a space "remount/system" and a bunch of commands come up. I do use a space and nothing. Either way, I am unable to edit or copy a new file in. Copy failed or cannot save file.
Do I have to copy from within the Terminal window? After running this command I go into ES file explorer to edit or copy with no luck.
<Set DPI to 160>
There is an app called LCDDensity which allows you to alter the DPI on the nook. If the market allows you to download it, or you are able to sideload it, you might try that.
What happens for me is my market will stop working, then I use LCDDensity to set the DPI to 160 or 240, and reboot. Then the market works, but only for a day or two, and then things seem to reset. (I have tried freezing and renaming the market app, and market updater app, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Then again I'm new to these things myself, and could be missing something silly.)
It isn't an ideal solution, but it seems fine unti a more permanent fix comes along.

Request for help: Setting write permission for pppd-ril.options file

Hello,
I need some help with permission setting. Im trying to edit the pppd-ril.options file in system/etc/ppp/peers/ but it is not write enabled.
Using rooted file explorers still brings no avail to setting the write permission.
Tried to use chmod 777 using terminal emulator but it says the system is read only
Also tried exploring with QPST, but can't see the system folder at all.
I need to edit this file as it contains 3G settings I need to adjust.
Help would be much appreciated!
From the terminal
busybox mount -o remount,rw /system
You seem can read chinese
haha
Thanks much! I edited the file and can finally enjoy China Telecom 3G on western ROM!
