Well first of all, most people probably just didn't answer because this question should have been a new thread in the rom DEVELOPMENT forum.
Second, to get split sms/mms you only need to install an older version of archsoft mms, like the one in my cabs folder linked in my signature. Make sure to soft reset immediately before you install the cab.
I never liked palm threaded text messaging, so i can't tell you if it works on wm6.1 roms, but all WM6.1 roms have threaded messaging already.
Both of these answers could have easily been found using the search function on the site.
tramane, i personally can't help you on this but i do know that Dutty has done this from some of his roms if you want to check there or contact him for some help. If he is able to help you out please post here so others can see what needs to be done.
I too like the split SMS and MMS but ever since i stopped using Dutty's roms i haven't had that and i've learned to deal with it. Although i have a PIM backup that i can only get the MMS from if i have those two split so yeah please let us know.

No disrespect
But I DID that
Thats what I said i my post
Im no super noob, i been flashing hacking and unlocking for a minute
I just wasnt posting,
But all in all, from what i gather noone has been able to get the palm app working on kaiser, which baffles me. Why would it work on the hermes?
Im assumin becuase the palm and hermes have OMAP processors
And when the mms function checks for available emory to complete the operation it fails and gives an OUT OF MEMORY error
IMHO the palm app kills the wm6.1 on pure speed
ITS MUCH FASTER
But im gonna try again to install arcsoft mms 4.2.8.1 and see if that works
I wasnt quite sure if this belonged in development/hacking or the rom section, So my apologies on location
THANKS for the info!!

Well to begin with, i meant it shouldn't be in the rom development, lol, but i think they moved it anyway to software.
I know there was a palm sms/mms app that was used on WM6.0 for the kaiser, but i never used it on WM6.1. I know many people used it cause it threaded the messages. You could try to hunt that down, just make sure you disable threaded messaging in kaisertweaks first just to be safe. Like i said, i've never tried it. If i find the link then i'll hook you up with it in a bit.

Hey i installed the new ROMeOS
it has split ms/sms
So i installed the palm threaded and use the palm for texting
And the wm6.1 default for mms
Works so far
There arent any wm6.0 roms left are there?
becuase there are speed enhancements with 6.1 correct?

Well I'd really assume it's just because everyone is porting stuff from the diamond/xperia/omnia/raphael and all those are only wm6.1.
Also nobody wants to cook something old when there's something new. Plus they did add some enhancements related to screen rotation...mostly it's just the new and shiny thing...i never used wm6.0 much so i don't know.

Old threaded sms in new Manilla?

Hey!
Most of the cooked roms are now using the new Manila version of the threaded sms. And all though I like most of the roms out there, I have a big problem with the new Manila way of writing sms. So...
- How do I go about changing the threaded sms back to the old version?
I.e.: When I click on a received sms on the Messages tab in Manila, I want it to go to the standard Windows threaded sms view.
Cheers!
I'd like this too, the Windows version was clean yet slick.
if you click on "all messages" instead of the sms, it'll open the old way.

Yes, I know that one. But that doesn't really account for a fix now, does it?
What I'm after is only the sms solution from the old Manila.
My guess is that it's not that a difficult configuration thing (since it's only in the last couple of weeks that the "new sms way" has appeared).
If you try an old version of Manila and view/send sms from there, I think you'll see what I want in terms of functionality...
True the old way is still there, but it'd be nice to revert but to it completely without sacrificing all the other fantastic Manilla improvements.
im also looking for a way to get this to work.
did anyone find anything out?
thanks.
Count me in too....
Me too..
Me three!
Me four!
The new Manila SMS looks good, but is really inferior to the WinMo default in terms of functionality.
Me too. I'd love to use the default threaded SMS of WindowMobile. Becoz the new threaded SMS of new Manila is very slow do appear.
Are there any solutions or registry to fix this matter?
Thanks
Any solution? I'd like old threaded sms back too...
Anyone? Can't someone from the ROM Gurus help?
Someone will have to edit the lua script responsible for it. I would... but I actually like the Manila SMS and clicking All Messages is not really THAT bad compared to the pain the ass of editing the lua script

anything new on the matter?
Did anyone find a solution ?
I posted a solution ages ago, cant even remember where.. ah found it
Basically when you click the sms icon in manila tab it drops back to winmo client,is that what you want?
All it takes is to use an older version of the manila file I think..
Any way as it's a cab it's uninstallable if it doesnt work for you.

[ROM][17.10.2009]Duttys HD WM6.5 Leo R6[Leo Rom Core Manila _2_5_19201130_0]

Let's try this new ROM from Dutty and share our findings. I hope that will be bugless Maybe someone who already flashed it can put some screenshots and share his opinion.
http://htcpedia.com/duttys_hd_leo_r_9b853eda83bfda130/soft/htc-blackstone-rom.html
Updated To New Leo Rom Core Manila _2_5_19201130_0
Updated Applications including Opera, YouTube and etc.
Updated some drivers in Rom.
Updated Windows Live application.
Updated Bing application.
Fixed Sip Highlight in theme throughout Rom.
Re-arrange Folders in Settings Tab.
Twitter seems to have problems with HD CONNECTING
Enable clicking settings to go directly to settings rather than through manila.
Added my old Muchos theme as a second theme in Rom to use soft reset required.
Some other minor amendments and performance tweaks.
My Location works but only through WIFI and also depends on user Location.
My ROMs are made close to Stock as possible but fully tweaked for speed , performance and stability, so please do not expect any alterations or manila modding.
this is good information you provided, but i think the best forum to post any observations is in htcpedia where the rom is made public.
Lite weight ROM,
good speed, had couple of freeze while setup, after a HR everyting was smooth.

I agree with you. There is no need to make a tread with Dutty rom here anymore. Dutty have chosen to leave xda-developers and move on at HTCpedia. That is he's choice, so we most axcept it.
Just glad that he contiue to make rom's for Blackstone, but sad, that he left xda.

one problem
Hi! well, the first: Congratulations for this ROM Dutty! It's increible!!
But now, I tell you two problems I have.
1.- In settings->options in the SMS MENU, I unmark the check of "Use Unicode when necessary" but this check always I enter is mark it's a problem, because one sms with 323 characters is send in 5 sms when really it must use 2 or 3 sms.
2.- I thought in send my sms of 323 characters by MMS but I don't know how I can send MMS :O
Anybody can help me?
Thanks a lot!
in R5 version i can choose all city i want in meteo on manila... why not in R6 version??
some problem to add favourite contacts on manila tab...
in r5 i had a lot of problem with sms.. i don't receive all message from my friends
i'm with H3G italy
i try to flash again...
Very good and speedy ROM. It does not have the autoconnect bug.
The only bug I have found is that when the Alarm sounds, the Reminder also sounds so you have 2 sounds in the same time. Maybe someone knows a registry fix, because I don't want to stop the Reminder sound.
The best ROMs are made by Dutty!!!

HTC Messaging

Is it possible to create a ROM that contains most of Manila 2.5, but has the HTC Messaging from Manila 2.1?
I like Manila 2.5, but I'm not impressed that HTC has decided to intercept all text messages, and their method doesn't allow other apps (like Remote Tracker) to intercept any..
Disabling 2.5 messaging in 2.5 ROMs doesn't resolve this issue, but maybe that's because the current methods to disable the 2.5 messaging do not address the actual issue of message interception..
Anyone think they can tackle this? The new messaging system has other issues that many people don't like.. (Slowness...) Sure it looks good, but visual appeal can't override the actual ability to function... (or break other features..)

Did not work for me on latest Shadowline ROM..
As far as I have seen, it doesn't resolve the issue.. It removes HTC Messaging out of the picture just fine, but doesn't fix it to allow other apps to intercept text messages.
Unfortunately, I don't plan on using the ROMs for which it claims to be useful...

My words are even not cold...
Well.. If HTC didn't hijack all the text messages with the new 2.5 messaging, this wouldn't be an issue..
I don't dislike any of the work ROM developers have done.. (Any of them.. Excellent job, guys!) But most of the ROMs are not what I'm looking for.. (Too bloated mostly) but they build their ROMs the way they want them..
The problem is not the ROMs or the chefs.. It's HTC, for breaking a feature of Windows Mobile by hijacking the messaging service instead of using what was already in Windows Mobile, and breaking other apps that rely on the ability to intercept text messages in the process.

Sense 2.5 simple was not meant for the TD2. I actually cant believe chefs are cooking this into there roms because without SMS functioning as it should im dead in the water and so are many others. I wait sometimes 15 to 20 seconds before i can actually type something when I open a conversation. Without the functionality cell phones were meant to deliver I might as well buy an iPhone.
Unfortunately M2.1 is getting phased out which makes absolutely no sense but thats the mobile world were living in. Honestly I wish there was a line being drawn where functionality wasn't sacrificed to bleeding edge. Hate to say this but my most stable rom thus far has been the stock AT&T ROM which I can t get back

And if you don't feel the need to keep 100's or even 1000's messages, it works perfect. Be honnest... what can you do with all the old messages?
I will give it a go later when im off work. Do you have any bugs from that cab?

I know of this option and have tried it. It doesn't work as touchwiz ignores it. There is a similar option for samsung which once came up during my search but can't find it anymore. Most probably both needs to be tweaked.
Aside from the reg tweak posted already you have to do this also
Change:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Sofware\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\SMStext]
"DLL"="mms.dll"
to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Sofware\Microsoft\Inbox\MsgTypes\IPM\SMStext]
"DLL"="htmlnote.dll"

Thanks but have you tried it ? And yr experience? I think on this and other sites it is said by those who have done it that the sms process becomes extremely slow and there are additional problems as well.
This registry tweak worked for me, but I don't use touchwiz. However, if you want threaded sms but don't mind slower response, you can use the link message.lnk which points to sms-mms.exe instead of the normal tmail.exe

Problem is, if u do not use touchwiz & hv w6.1, u might throw away this phone as, wm6.1 was just not meant for touch screen. The default wm sms/mail program is ver difficult with fingers. Also there is the white on black screen of samsung and the larger font. I need to consider these issues and have been repeated going back to touchwiz

Touchwiz, sucks, but the phone is great. So, your statement is flawed.
Try other UI's instead, there are many free and more customisable ones, or other sms apps.

If the software is always disturbing you and cannot be totally discarded then its not a perfect situation.
Re: alternate solutions, I am still looking for one under wm6.1 as 6.5 is not offered in my country. Unfortunately, there are many ideas but little for wm6.1 anywhere. So cannot call it a satisfactory situation.
Touchwiz for all its fault offer good finger based usage under wm6.1 and as I said it really like the black skin.
So is there any solution which satisfies the above requirements under wm6.1 or should I forget it and wait for 6.5 whenever that happens.
I am in the same boat.
I can upgrade to 6.5 but don't want to.
I have 6.1 and actually like Touch Wiz (more so than tf3d on my htc touch pro).
