Do i need to HardSPL for an already unlocked Phone - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

Hi.. I bought my touch pro 2 from Dubai.. n i can use any Sim... so wanted to know if i need to HardSPL my fone again..... or can i directly flash the desired ROM... its my first time with a windows Fone ( first time flashing n stuff ).. so m a bit nervous about brciking my phone....
one more thing.... any suggestions for a decent ROM... i only need n custom ROM for good themes.... n some games... dont do a lot with my phone.....
thanx for ur help in advacne ppl...

Yes you do need hardspl. as for a ROM only you can decide that. NRG, DeepShining, Athine are stable/reliable i prefer those myself. Youll have to try and decide. flashing is relatively safe just make you read carefully the instructions. and allways task 29 first before flashing a new rom. you will have to enter bootloader(hold volume down and power while resetting) to flash after task 29 from windows or flash from sd card.
Have fun!

as MrBox said, its required to flash HARD SPL and before performing a flash of a custom ROM on to your phone always use task29
with that said, can a moderator please move this thread to the General section?

thank u all...... Will give it a try now......

there was 1 more thing that i wanted to know.....
Do i need a ROM specific as per my country and the network...... I live in India and use iDEA (dnno if u guys hve heard abt it )... just for info... i bought it in UAE.....

look for wwe or nor whatever your lang is. as for setup should automatically detect carrier

You are confusing being SIM-unlocked (which your phone already is), and being able to flash ROMs that weren't designed for your specific branding/region of phone (e.g. official ROMs from another region, or cooked ROMs from this forum). They are two totally separate things. To be able to do the latter, you'll need HardSPL, as has been said.

Questions answered.
Could you please post any more questions in the Guide by mskip or in the general / Q&A forums? The ROM development sub-forum is for development of ROM issues / releases, rather than flashing help / support.
Thanks,
Dave

best rom

hello all
which is the best and stable cooked rom and radio ?
it all depends on you....
i recommend backing up your device n testing some roms out till u find whats good for you
cuz i find alotta roms ppl really like not suitable 4 me
What does rom and radio mean?
I know what a rom is but a rom and radio? I don't understand
its what ur phone uses to transmit to ur provider
1. What's the best car that I can buy for my budget? It depends on MY tastes. This question is really invalid. Try and try and try again, you'll only find what you like after test driving it.
2. This is NOT a ROM development related thread. Please do not post it under the ROM development forum.

What wm6.5 rom to use on the telstra network.

Good day guys and girls. I am new here. I have a Touch HD on the Telstra network but i am thinking of joining the ranks of WM6.5 and touchflo 2.1. I have read the flashing roms for dummies thread but there where a few things i wanted to ask. I currently use the phone for emails and internet everyday and i am just worried that if i flash a new rom i wont be able to use those features on the NEXT G network or get NEXT G coverage. Secondly is there a certain rom i need to use in order to use the phone on Telstra or will any of the wm6.5 roms work. I am new to this and really hesitant to do anything until i know everything would be good, but also itching to go to wm6.5. Any help from you pro's would be mutch appreciated. Thank you.

I use a Telstra phone and have found there is no problem with any of the ROMs as far as G 3G or any of the services go.
So if i was to use the Dusk rom would i just follow the Dummies guide to flashing 1.56+ roms. Any help is much apreciated.

Yes thats where we all started. You need to go through that guide step by step. You only have to go through that process once and then like the rest of us you can Flash to you hearts content.
Will it better for me to use the uspl method, I dont really understand it all but from reading it, it seems to be the safer method. Any help is aprecciated.

Yeah, USPL is "safer" in the sense you keep your Stock SPL... which basically means if somehow you brick your phone, they won't be able to tell that you've been playing around with it.
Ok so if i decide to go ahead where can i download these from.
(USPL1a) RUU_Signed_Blackstone_stockSPL154.zip
(USPL1b) HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156OliNex.zip
(USPL1c) USPL GUI v 2.5.zip
(USPL1d) A 1.56+ based rom- Dutty's latest rom linked here
(USPL1e) BlackstoneRUUWrapper.zip
Thank you all very much for your help. I just want to make sure i do this right the first time.
Im sorry i didnt see the downloads in post 1. I just have another question. In the step USPL1D can i use EnergyROM_BLACKSTONE_20090816_StandardM2.5.rar instead of what is labeled in the dummies guide to flashing? Any help is much appreciated.
Answer to your query, yes you can use EnergyROM. Rom listed in guide was just an example.
Your title query has already been answered. All roms should work on Telstra network. Dummies guide thread already exists for guidance and help on flashing. Post all related queries in relevent thread.

You need to do search my friend. Whatever your question is, try to search and you will find the answer.
In your case, if you like to flash your device to windows 6.5, you'll first need to do HardSPL. You can find the "how to" in this thread and this thread.
Then, you can choose and download any ROM you like. There are plenty of choices.
Just follow the instruction to flash the ROM....I think every instruction is clearly enough to understand.
I did search and i downloaded the hardSPL program but I didnt use it because it was going to download an older rom than the one i have right now.
How do you guys know which ROM to use? I just want the latest one.

that's your decision you got a huge variety of ROM in the forum from different chefs... so check out, read and see what is better for you and your phone... GL !
I guess ill do a mini mini mani mo and pick one. thanks!
Oh one more question, so why is the Hard SPL trying to revert my current rom to an old one. Is that what I have to do?

before flash any custom ROM you have to do hard-spl JUST ONCE THOUGH, have fun
hey!
1. you got the latest update for your ROM from SE. that means you are on a "official ROM" or "stock" ROM.
it's suppose to be running on windows mobile 6.1.
2. there is NO "official" 6.5 ROM for the X1 (yet)
3. when you see ROMs saying they are running on 6.5 they are called "custom" ROMs.
custom roms, as the word suggests, are customized by great chefs here on xda to maximize the capabilities of X1 and windows mobile,
that includes the latest updates either from SE or windows (or HTC)
4. there are also 6.1 custom roms
5. the date any custom rom is released suggests it is the latest.
6. there are different "cooks" who may release the same build/update
my suggestion:
try each rom one at a time. sooner or later you'll find one that will suit your taste.
(i think this is the norm here on xda ). and imho, this is how it should be.
if you want the latest agent_47 will not fail you. he's almost always has the latest updates.
if you want a simple & stable rom go for jack's. (with multi-language support)
for pure X1 & wm, look for spikegotti's rom or gtrab's
later you can try itje's, rotastrain's, killer8nl's, etc which are all great.
i hope that clears your confusion. enjoy!
be sure to hard-spl first.
aww you guys are so helpful. thanks im sorry but i will be sending you a PM if i need help. lol

How to revmove the default Vodafone (UK) rom...?

Hi...i'v now had my touch pro 2 going about 4 months now and i'v really enjoed the phone
...but thanks to this website i'v discovered i can have my phone looking like a customized handset...
here's the problem...
i currently have ROM version: 1.14.161.6...
any time i try to upgrade the latest Energy ROM it ends up with a connection error...
i just bassically want to know what im doing wrong if anything...
please help............
Have you applied the Hard-SPL first?
There's some steps detailed in one of the stickys for flashing for the first time;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
odafone removal
Firstly flash the phone by Hardspl- ing it, this allows you to install non certified roms onto it
secondly download and install energyrom ensuring you hae a fully charged battery
works a breeze

[Q] Htc hd7 OS:7.10.7740.16

Hi,
I have a HTC HD7 and it is currently
os: 7.10.7740.16
im trying to unlock it using ChevronWP7
i dont realy know what i am doing but it cannot conect to my phone
after reserching i belive my Os version is too high
how can i overcome this?
sorry if this is a stupid question
Thanks
Alex
First of all.. read more. Much more. ^^
1. You shouldnt flash if you dont know what you're doing.
2. If this is the case. Read more through forums (most in general and development section) about flashing, downgrading SPL,DFT's tool, and stuff like that.
In short:
First of all there are many ways to crash your device. To flash any rom you need to use DFT's tool. But if you are on 4.x or 5.x its mostly recommended NOT to flash any rom. 1.st goal is to get to bootloader version 1.x 2.x or 3.x.
DFT tool -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196261
I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411904 this thread. Its just great becuase i was stuck on a custom rom with bootloader 5.10.x.
You have to make sure what bootloader you got, becaus there are alot different threads about downgrading SPL if you are on 5.10.x, 4.x or 3.x 2.x 1.x. READ THEM^^ because you might get a dead brick after flashing if you do it wrong.
-Some use a "goldcare method" (search for it and yep as you guessed.. read it)
-I was happy i could just use ansars rom and flash back to original stock schubert hd7 rom.
oh and the chevron only works with ("earlier") NoDo versions. (if you dont know what it is read about it )
v7403 or something. That version is some months ago. ^.^
Developer Interop unlock + Max number unsigned apps + prevent relocking are other things you might want to read.
Oh here is some thread you have to read! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18244911
thanks a load^
i will look into it
thanks
