Add apps next to launcher icon - Android Themes

hey again...i swear i'm going to suffocate these boards with 'how to's, hehe
i searched and couldn't find a way to "add" apps next to the launcher/app drawer on the bottom of every screen
can we do this in metamorph? is there another general way of doing it?
thanks!

refer to this, unless you were joking considering how obvious the thread is and searching it would not be hard at all.

Then I'd start learning how to code. It's not something a metamorph could fix easily (Can't just replace a png or something like that).

You cannot do that with standard android launcher, you'll need a custom one like gde, helix, launcherpro, pandahome, etc

adw LAUNCHER (FROM ANDERWEBS) LETS YOU CHOOSE OPTIONS FOR DOCKBAR ON/OFF, LEFT OR RIGHT TAB OR BOTH, TINT OR NO TINT ETC. FLASH FROM ZIP AND ACCESS ADW SETTINGS IN THE HOME SETTINGS TAB.

as an FYI....it just says to flash the file..
so if it works like a rom, i have a telus milestone, which cannot be flashed for roms...
so am I SOL?

bigger icons on home screen?

i use bettercut for my desktop icons & i know there has got to be a way to bypass the 48x48pixel rule if you have root. maybe go into the system file & change some script or something? i would like my icons to be likee 60x60. does anyone have some ideas?
come on guys, i know its possible.
search in the market for "bigger icons widget"

i don't mind, the iphone has icons that are that size and it works fine.
You can do this, but it would require you to compile from source. I am not experienced enough to walk you through this. I suggest asking cyanogen or enomther.
why would i have to compile from source? theres no xml to edit to just expand the boundaries?

App dock...

does anyone know of an app/modification (metamorph?) that will allow us to "dock" some apps so that they are accessible in every screen?
not like a widget that pops up a carousel (like some apps offer)...
i mean more like the "star" of favourite apps/docked apps that is accessible on every screen in open home..for those of you who have used it
it's to the far right on every home screen, you swipe the star and you have like 6 apps (or so) accessible....
any ideas? thanks!
Anderwebs ADW launcher sounds like something you are looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645550
HelixLauncher also does this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645683
I would have to say that Anderwebs launcher is quite superior to helix in performance, but they are both great launchers.
Thanks for the quick replies!
Helixlauncher almost looks like a home replacement from the descriptions...
I do want to keep my regular home app..since it has 9 screens
I just wanted to add the two main things I liked from alternate home apps
I.e., the app dock...and if I can find it, a way to "name" each home screens, on the bottom, next to the app drawer icon...
I'll test out the first option to see if it has an app dock without modifying my app drawer icon, hehe

Helix can have 9 screens too.
Hehe..thanks...but I guess I'll just stick to keeping my most used apps on the main screen and if I am on screen 9 and need to get to screen 5, I'll just hit the "home" button again, hehe
But I do have another modding question...I am kind of highjacking my own thread, hehe
is there a way to add the "dots" that indicate which screen you are on to either side of the app drawer icon? (Like screen 5 would have 4 little dots on each side?)
...or failing that, a way to label each screen? (Apps, games, etc...)
I saw one app that did this...but it had horrible reviews...so any app or personal way to modify it would be great...thanks again!
Definitely try out the ADW launcher... it has more customizer than even you would know what to do with!
http://www.jbthemes.com/anderweb/adwlauncher.html
it does look/sound good...
however, if you have to install it the same way you flash a rom, i don't think i can do it as my bootloader is locked...(telus milestone)
any instructions on the actual "flashing" part? the only ones i see is to change the zip file to "update.zip" and apply it from recovery mode, but it says invalid signature when i do that and then does nothing...
or can i just install the launch.apk file in the zip?
LauncherPro is faster than ADW.
It's just that you can't set your own app dock, there's one provided for you, it's shortcuts to Phone, Contacts, Messaging and the Browser.
Helix can have 9 screens too.

i don't want to modify any of the actual settings i already have..i like the way my phone is customized...
therefore, i'd like ADW if you can really pick and choose nearly every item you can implement...this would be best
also, as a sidenote, does anyone know how to flash it to the milestone?

if you're looking for some serious customization, look for sweeter home on the internet. it's in beta (for like 1 1/2 years now) so it's not on the market but i had fun fooling around w/it. it's basically a home replacement app that you design yourself from the ground up. kinda steep learning curve at first but you can always download someone else's theme and keep it or even tweek it how you like. there's even forums too if you need help.
http://www.sweeterhome.com/
maybe i'm way off target, just thought it would interest you
thanks, i'll check it out...
but i wasn't originally looking for a home replacement..i had open home before (and this one might be better) and I just didn't like the "bulk" of having an extra home app
thanks again though, i'll still give it a shot, hehe

ADWLauncher has tons of extra features, and they're all toggle-able. If you don't like the dock, turn it off in settings. Want more screens? Settings. Want the Galaxy S drawer? Settings. Want the home screens to scroll faster? Settings.
hehe
i know
but the problem is i can't find a way to flash it on the milestone...
i'm looking for a tutorial or someone that has successfully flashed anything to the milestone =-\

You can now download adw.launcher from the market for an easy install
I may be way off-base here but my wife is using "Open home" on her Cliq (because she couldn't stand MotoBlur's ugly UI) and it has everything that you're looking for: Number of screens, workspace labels, dock, dots, etc) and it seems like it's running OK on her phone. I know that it's a "replacement" home but it shouldn't be a problem on the phone with some spare RAM (i.e. any phone except for G1 and original MT3G)
Good luck.

how to make go launcher icons bigger in the dock?
thanks.
You cant, at least not yet.
If you have an example of something, or know what go-theme does do something your looking for, post the name of it- ill let ya know whats up
Yup...got the same issue...the icons are pretty small...I guess by their size, they must have been meant to be used on Android phones...
Cheers,
Giz

Hmm, I have go launcher 2.69 and I can't seem to find the option. Do you know where the option is located in the menus? I might have tried it by accident going through all the settings, but I never saw a change in my icons on the desktop or dock.
Thanks for your time.

It makes all icons bigger, menu>preferences>visual settings>icons>icon size
Edit: the 2.70 beta has the option to change just the dock icon size
Re: how to make go launcher icons bigger
I was able to find the menu setting. However, when I change the icon size to "large" Go Launcher changes it right back to "custom". Any ideas?
Go Launcher Dock Icons
I have sent numerous emails to their developement team requesting this option...and never hear back from them. If you have only 4 icons, the auto adjust makes them the same size, but not with 5 icons. There has to be a way to go in on a rooted phone and tweek their code, or something. I tried ADW since they have this option, and gave it an honest try...had it for a month or so, and just could not resist going back to Go Launcher. For me, this is the only improvement I would want at this point. I think it's a great customization tool, as well as stable. If anyone has any suggestions...please let me know.

Newbie Android, want to fully customize my HD2

Hello to all.
I'm recently port a NAND Android rom (NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA V2.9a) and I'm trying to customize it (visual and performance's too).
I installed the NOVA launcher, which I think it's the best - I tried 3-4 popular others, but Nova I think is the better...
So, now, I want to replace/change:
All system's icons. I need some large icon packs to choose from.
Customize and change the look and use of the LockScreen. How can I customize it (visually) and how can I add weather, sms, email & generally other notifications?
I want to change the wallpaper of my home screen. I think I need wide wallpapers (to moving when I'm scrolling from one home screen to the next). Where can I find some? And where are the default wallpapers located???
I also want to change ringtones, notification sound, sms, etc. Where are they located?
And finally, I may want to change the splash animated boot screen - it's fantastic in NexusHD2-ICS-CM9-HWA V2.9a rom, but I think I need something more "light", not so "heavy".
Generally, I found quite difficult to locate and change/customize my Android rom. Why's that? It's almost difficult like... iOS (loool).
Thxs for any help, fellas.
Come on, this is literally you asking us how to use your phone. I understand issues with flashing but this is a bit extreme don't you think? Most of your questions could have been answered by actually using the phone
Anyway:
System icons - download an icon pack from the Play Store or from XDA then apply it in Nova
Look/use of the lock screen - you'll have to either flash a 4.2.2 ROM or buy WidgetLocker from the Play Store. I think NexusHD2 has an option to have weather and time on the lock screen though
Wallpaper - Seriously? Just long press on the homescreen and select a new wallpaper or press menu on the homescreen and select a new wallpaper or even go to settings>display>wallpaper and select a new wallpaper. As for where to find them, just download a wallpaper app from Google Play or download images from various places on the internet
Ringtone - again, seriously? Go to settings>sound and you'll find the options there
Bootanimation - search on XDA and you'll find your answers
Thxs.
I know what are you saying, but it's not my phone (I have iOS and I'm keep learning it and reading about); it's my wife's, so I want just to customize it and leave it to her, I don't want (and don't have time) to learn the Android as well...
Thxs for the answers, mate.

I didn't take you for an idiot at all, it's exactly what the post you wrote suggested. It was probably the translation that was bad, but I assure you I wasn't assuming you were stupid. You can place a wallpaper anywhere on your SD card, as long as you know where it is you can just browse to it in a file manager then set it as your wallpaper. You should also be able to set it as a wallpaper from the gallery. As for ringtones I'm not sure but you should just be able to paste it in /system/media/audio/ringtones I think.

How Can I Get A Transparent Google Search Bar W/O Using a Launcher?

I don't want to remove the Google search bar and I don't want to use a launcher.
Is there anyway to make it transparent? I am on 5.1.
No way. Until you use other launchers.
Hi I just got my Nexus 6 and am working on doing the same thing. So far I've found this thread that has some versions you can flash in recovery. That transparent version works fine on my stock rooted 5.1 LMY47E, but isn't quite transparent enough for me.
It looks like the files to edit are in Velvet.apk/res/drawable-xxxhdpi and drawable/xxhdpi and maybe others I'm not sure. I've learned how to edit the .9.png files to make everything more transparent but I'm still learning how to get it all put back together and installed properly.

Yeah thats the one. We need more input on doing it manually though. At first I thought I could just edit a couple images in photoshop to get the transparency I wanted, but the more I read the more it looks like its gonna be editing .xml files to get the desired effect.
I'm reading a guide by Team Blackout app themers on their website here
and also sifting through various theming/transparency threads even if not related to the Nexus 6 like this thread and this one.

Hmm I dont remember what exactly I did (besides flashing it) to make it work..
I think my exact process to make it work was:
1. Download and switch to Nova Launcher (or any other launcher so you can remove stock one)
2. Backup and uninstall Google Now Launcher using Titanium Backup
3. Clear data of Google app through Settings > Apps
4. Reboot into recovery and flash it
Maybe somethings auto-updating in the play store back to a stock-colored version?
Mine looks like this after flashing

You can create one in zooper widget and use it on any launcher.
I can modify one and send you the file if you would like, but you'll still need zooper widget to use it.

Get transparent, non persistent Google Search Bar
Three Steps Friends
1. Install Nova Launcher Free Version. No need to root your phone.
2. Go to widgets. Look for the "Quick Search Bar".
3. Use it. It'll show you the option of Google Search Bar as white-opaque, white-semi transparent and fully transparent. Choose fully transparent.
4. Whoa... you've got your very own, fully transparent, non persistent Google Search Bar. The best thing after the sliced bread.
