After updating to the newest version of the Rom (2.5 WWE) I now have a twitter tab, but I cannot disable it. I tried finding it in the customize tab options, but it isn't there so I can't hide it.
You went to Settings Tab\Personalize\Home Screen tabs?
Should be there.
yeah its not there. I restored my data with a force rom upgrade restore that used the 2.1 Rom that didn't have twitter. Could this be why it doesn't show up? Is there a way I could just delete the registery for the twitter tab to get rid of it?

If you did a forced ROM upgrade to a different manila version, you will likely have more issues than just this.
As much as SPB touts it can do a forced upgrade, it will always cause issues because your mixing and matching incompatable files.
I wont even restore PIM data with SPB because it tends to hose my manila.
So when I backup, I uncheck PIM and never restore to a different ROM
So is there no way to get rid of the twitter tab by registery change or something or would I have to hard reset? I have not noticed any other problems and I generally do not have problems with forced Rom upgrades. I did it for when I upgraded from the stock Rom to the 2.1 Rom and I didn't have any problems.
Could you tell me if your HKLM/software/HTC/Manila/Configuration has more that 11 keys under it and if one of those keys corresponds to twitter? If you do have a twitter key could you pack it up and upload? I think the option isn't showing up in the customize tab because I am missing the key or something. Thanks.

I don't even have a key for configuration, only the .dll's listed for each tab under HTCService.
Not sure if CHT overwrites the config key, but I don't see individual keys for each tab.
Sorry.
Turns out once I deleted the Configuration key, the Twitter tab showed up in the customize menu. The registry reorganized the keys under the configuration one after I deleted them and soft reset. Problem Solved! Thanks for you help.

Hi folks,
Is there a way to remap the soft keys on the Kaiser?
I am sure there is; I would appreciate it if someone explained to me how.
I had to uninstall Pocket Informant and I can't access the original Calendar app on the left soft key!!!
Many thanks,

advanced config tool

SoftKey Changer
There you go.. Install, soft reset, and its under Start -> Settings -> System
I gave it a try but my expectations were that would be what that soft key would be no matter what program I'm in, but that is not the case. I guess I'll use somethign else like AE Button to get teh keys I want.
Thanks for the post though.
[EDIT]
By the way, after uninstalling, the button assignments remain. Interesting.
Yep use AE Button. It's an amazing tool! Although be careful what you change as it can mess up your device used carelessly.

Thanks very much. I will give this a try.
In the meantime I had to restore a previous version from SPB Backup and this got sorted. I have decided not to re-install Pocket Informant 8 as it caused some isues with ringtones and performance.
I put this on my HTC Tilt and it works awesome, exactly what i was looking for to change the two soft keys.
Hi there, hope everyone is well.
I installed the softkey changer cab , and it seemed to install fine. I was able to find it under settings with no problem and set the left softket to 'new sms'. However when I try to actualy use this from the homescreen i get an error message saying:
"The file 'tnsms' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components could not be found. If the problem persists try reinstalling or restoring this file."
I have tried reinstalling, but got the same problem. I can still send an sms if I go through contacts, or messaging, but would love to have this as a working softkey as it tends to be the function I use the most.
Other than installing google maps and opera mini, there have been no changes made since I received the phone a few days ago. It is a standard HTC tytn II.
I'm completely new to this, and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks, James.

This helped:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357163
Essentially, change the value of the key to /Windows/(your SMS program)
Mine was tmail.exe.
Now I wonder... how do I not go to the messages screen and go directly to a new SMS?
I'm having the same problem on a Tilt.

Thanks for the advice, I will probably give that a go when I've stopped being so scared of changing registry stuff.
I did find another app that does the trick though. Just make sure you add a shortcut to 'new sms' first (bottom option of the config screen), you should then be able to assign this to either softkey.
Works for me, and I'm able to go straight to a new sms from the homescreen.
Hope it helps, all the best.

I've used a few roms that had a few different htc home setups. My question is, I can't seem to find the Favorite People tab in the htc home customizer. How do I get that tab? Do I need a different version of HTC Home? If HTC home came bundled with a rom, is there a way to update it? Also, how do I find out what version of HTC home I have?
I'm not sure what you have as standard, but this thread will show you how to tweak the registry to change what shows up.
Hope it helps - good luck

That was very in depth. Unfortunately, I went to regedit the portion of the HTC Home registry that corresponded with the number of tabs and the order but my registry is already edited to 1,2,3,4,5,6. So my HTC Home should be showing 6 tabs but it is only showing 5. I've used HTC Home customizer and it is showing all but the Favorites tab. No matter what tab I remove I still dont have the Favorites tab.
Can only suggest you unselect the HTC Home in the today menu, go to the registry, remove number 2. Soft reset. Back to the registry, add in 2 again. Soft reset. Select from the today menu.
If that doesnt override the customizer then you'll have to post in the ROM thread or a Customizer thread.
Best I can suggest - good luck
Backup your complete phone on your desktop/laptop and do a hard reset.
Before you install all your programs, install the HTC customizer/Home FIRST.
My Wife and I each had this problem. Apparently one of the programs interfered with the HTC Home install and we didn't have the favorite people either. If you install it FIRST; your people tab will be there.
this happened to me yesterday, this is the answer
To get the favorite people tab back, delete this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/OEM/MASD/QuickDial
then soft reset..

I appreciate everyones help very much in this issue. This was the solution that fixed the problem.
Thanks to everyone who offered advice or suggestions.
I'm trying to remove mUn BackGround4AllPages "v0.2" using remove programs but keep getting the following a message saying "it was not completely removed, do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs (YES/NO)?" When I hit yes, the program is still part of the list WTF.
The main reason I'm trying to remove mUn BackGround4AllPages "v0.2" is because I started having issues sending pic text messages after doing a soft reset the next day. I'm not sure if this is where the problem lies or the fact that I also have the following apps:
1. OMJ Manilla customizer - Used to change my clock and Icons
2. Diamond TF3D config tool - Only used to return everything back my ROMs default theme/Icons when I got a white square on the top left corner of all all my tabs after doing a soft reset
3. S2U2 v1.44 (QVGA) - I seen in a post that my phone should use the VGA version but none of those would install on my phone. I have since removed it
Not sure but maybe these apps are stepping on one another and I shouldn't have all three installed???? Has anyone experienced this before if so please share your remedy/fix. I plan remove mUn BackGround4AllPages "v0.2" as well as the ones listed that I have not already removed but before doing so I'm going to check my registry to see anything has changed since I set myself up to send/receive pic messages.
Phone:
Sprint HTC Touch Diamond Flashed to Metro Pcs
Running Mighty ROM v4.1
CDMA
Pic text can receive but can't send pic messages
I unistalled it with no problem. Although I had the same problem when I tried to unistall Sprite Backup. I used sktools>installed programs and >bad unistall info and then a general cleanup and it unistalled.
I had the same problem, it uninstalled from phone but the picture remained on all TF3D pages. Even deleted the picture that I assigned from the phone.
I searched for all image files in the windows folder and found one that sounded like it could be the background file (can't recall it's name) but I remember it was pretty obvious. Open it to make sure it's the one you want to remove and delete it. Soft reset and voila....back to original TF3D grey squares.
I think BackGround4AllPages just renames your image and sticks it in the windows folder.
Stop TF3D (Turn it off in today settings) soft reset, uninstall, soft reset and then restart TF3D.

Hi Guys,
i have just installed this CAB: BJK_HTC_EzInput2_WVGA_NoKbd_0409-B1_4.cab
But i would just prefere the "old" Touch HD Keyboard/Keyad etc.
How can i get them back? Because as far as i have seen BJK_HTC_EzInput2_WVGA_NoKbd_0409-B1_4.cab replaces them :-(
Is there any CAB out there (already searched but found nothing) or can anyone send me the files for the old Keyboards (Keypad, conpact Qwertz, complete Qwertz)
Thanks a lot,
BigD
Does uninstall and soft reset not bring the old keyboard back?

Hard reset will restore device to factory settings. i.e. it will be as if you just flashed a rom, everything will have been lost/reset i.e. all software, apps, contacts, emails, everything on device will have been lost except what was on SD card. You will need to set up your device again.
To perform a hard reset:
Turn off device
Hold down volume up & volume down and press power on
Continue to hold volume up & volume down until you are presented with white screen and text.
Follow text intructions and press vol up to reset to factory settings
EDIT
Are you just trying to set original keyboard as default after you uninstalled a keyboard?
If so try going to Start > Settings > Personal > Input and select keyboard
Alternatively install SIP Change and then open it and select keyboard to be used as default
thankyou very much!
so if i copy all my devices contacts etc over to the card with the cabs etc. and reload them onto the phone after the hard reset there will be minimal change i.e. i dont have to fish around for all my contacts again lol.
thanks again in advance
edit: the only reason i want the old one back is that finger keyboard 2.1 has messed it all up. im running windows 6.1 the standard rom. no keyboard will open when browsing web and the keyboard doesnt even open all the time on messages.
again many thanks
sorry again i am a noob...
how do i copy contacts to my card memory, there isnt enough space on the sim card for even half of them and i cant find them in file explorer is there something im missing? its probably an onvious one aswell.
sorry.
cheers

When in email, sms etc and keyboard pops up, have you tried selecting up arrow beside the wee keyboard symbol at bottom and selecting different keyboard?
To backup contacts you have a few options. You can either sync contacts with your pc Outlook or use free backup apps like PIM Backup & Sashimi or 3rd party apps like SPB Backup, Sprite Backup & Resco Backup
yes ive tried the switcing input method onto "keyboard" infact ive tried them all to no avail still either this dodgy little crappy keyboard or one of the other input devices, im going to hard reset i think its best. thanks very much ill use the active sinc for it.
you have been a great help tyvm
update a hard reset has sorted this problem i will do more research before installing keyboards in the future many thanks
Hi All,
Just updated my Touch Diamond 2 to TOM's new WM 6.5 ROM. I'm happy with everything, but the new start menu is a little awkward. Its very small, and it shows everything. I liked HTC's original TouchFlo 'Programs' tab, as this allows me to add shortcuts to the apps I use most, and hide the remaining ones in the "All Programs" soft key.
However, I don't know how to change it so when I click the Start Menu (or the hardware button) it opens the Programs screen. I'm sure its a registry setting, but I don't know which one exactly.
Any help would be appreciated.
I dunno whether this will be the one for you, but it's worth taking a look at:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\EnlargeMenu]
"EnableManilaStartMenu"=dword:00000001

How about this one:
