how to change sounds in htc touch viva?

isn't it in the manual? anywayz...
Alarm tone: settings > system > clock & alarms > tap the bell icon.
Call tone: settings > personal > sounds & notifications > notifications > phone: incoming call
Message alert: same as call tone but choose event messaging: new text message
just add your wav or mp3 tones in my documents folder.

Buy & use G-Alarm (google for it), or, as previously said, install a ROM (for example, the linked one), following the very precise instructions you can find in the forum.

JBAssistant 0.1 (yet another assistant tool...:)

Hi, i would like to share a little app i made. I use my QTEK for work. I like having ringtones but i was tired to have to switch off volume every time i start a meeting. I also want to be able to reply missed calls with SMS only to some people. And i also want to made my own app :
Features:
- App detect if are "busy" or "free" based on the appointments schedule.
- App can silent or set to vibrate the phone when start a meeting and restore sound when meeting ends.
- App can reply missed calls (on "busy" mode) with custom SMS and it has nice options to configure who will receibe the SMS....
Known Bugs:
1- App will start on every reboot (that´s ok), and show the main screen (just put it on background).
2- App will change ringer mode (silence, vibrate, ringtone on) but will not update default upper right volume icon.
Hope someone find this app usefull too.....Any comments will be appreciate...
I only tested it on WM6. I think it should works fine on WM5, can any one try it there?
You will need NETCF 2 before installing my app (check it, may be you already have it):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6b-356b-4a2c-857c-e62f50ae9a55&DisplayLang=es
English: http://rapidshare.com/files/25370543/JBAssistant_0.5_-_EN.CAB
Español: http://rapidshare.com/files/25370561/JBAssistant_0.5_-_ES.CAB
Version 0.5:
- App will now apply settings also to sms and voicemail.
- App saves settings when enters busy mode, and restore them when going to free mode.
If u have for example this setup:
PDA Settings:
- Phone Ring
- Text Message Vibrate
JBAssistant Settings:
- Silence Phone checked
Behaviour will be:
On Busy Mode:
- Incoming Phone calls and Text Messages will not ring or vibrate.
On Free Mode:
- Incoming calls will ring and text messages will vibrate.
- On free mode, "ringer:" will be "PDA Settings" to better comunicate current setttings for text, phone and voicemail.
- When exit the application on "busy mode" phone, voice and text sound settings will be restore to PDA settings saved before entering "busy mode".
- Note: Application saves your current settings before entering busy mode and restore them when entering free mode. Because of that, you can freely change settings when application is in free mode, but if you do it when application is on busy mode, settings will be reverted to the original values (those before entering busy mode) when entering free mode. World can't be perfect and you are busy, don't loose time playing with phone settings ....
Version 0.4:
- fixed a bug introduced in verison 0.3 when restoring sound after a meeting ends.
Version 0.3:
- Added option to ignore meetings with "free" status
- Icon on trybar when app is running.
- New (and nicer) application icon.

Sounds good, any chance your going to make it so that when your device boots up the default screen doesn't appear? I know it's not a big deal, but it annoys the hell out of me.
Anyways thanks!
next release
yes!! next release (maybe tomorrow) will fix that and i also will add an option to not to detect as busy when you create a meeting with "status Free"....
if u have any suggestion for new features just post it pls...
thanks!
Will do since I'm really interested in this, but at the moment my brain is so tired I'm surprised I actually know how to spell
Version 0.3
Updated first post with version 0.3. Sorry i can't (yet) found the way to hide the main screen at startup (yes..i also think it was an easy task ..not on CF2
if someone has any idea of how to do it with managed or native code pls post it...

basically automatic is with your calender.
I believe if you create a schedule and set it to busy / out of office or something of that sort, it will automatically switch the phone to vibrate/ silent. and once th e session is over, it will switch it back to the original status
Hmmm... ok. Thanks. I was actually hoping that it would automatically silence alarms at night or something.
Since this isn't what it does, can anyone tell me if there is some software that I can set the alarms off at night with? I hate going through menuhell to change the settings every night.
Well, you can always make an appointment with bed
Menu hell?
Automatic doesn't appear to work for me which is too bad since SPB Phone had this feature that I thought was fantastic.
Don't know of a program to do what you want but two buttons to the left is the silence button. Menu hell? Just a thought...

You could try phoneAlarm (http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html) it can do a lot of things!

This feature is def kinda gay. I was hoping that i could switch from my custom ringtones with this to my work ringtone, that overrides everything. This would leave for a set of default sounds, sliding/ringtone for business, and custom for play.... lame..

I have personally observed this feature causing my phone to engage in homosexual activities with other HTC devices.
this feature does seem useful in theory but in practical instances, it is a bit risky to use in my opinion.
I'm going to set my work schedule in my calender just for this. Thanks for the clarification. My Kaiser is bi methinks.
Sorry to bump a old thread..figure better than starting a new one.
This is kind of related to the HTC home..
I noticed my "tapping sound" has been disabled ever since installing the HTC home cab. I've tried to re-enable the tap sound via the settings..it shows enabled but still no sound? Is this normal...or did I do something wrong?
And is the alarm function always this slow? It seems to take forever to repeat...actually sounds kind of weak? I've used different phones but this HTC seems to be pretty retarded when it comes to the basic functions.
Thanks.

SCREEN TAPS
A check against SCREEN TAPS should do it for you.

if I tap screen tap in sounds and notifications, enabling finger scrolling and panning sound in touchflo become useless...
you can hear sound from scrolling and panning also if you "untap" "enable finger scrolling and panning sound" in touchflo command in settings
I thought the problem was not having the sound. Verrzanoprince and myself were of the opinion that having the sound present was more important than the menu you get the sound from.
My mistake.
turns out that you want the sound but only from the TOUCH FLO option.
Probably HTC can. or may be someone else can help you out with that.

ok...perhaps it is an incompatibility or bug between htc touchflo settings (htc software) and sound and notifications ( wm6 - software)
i believe more in xda developers than htc developers
we could make and XDA PHONE
The sound I have is a hard knock while touching the screen. I would like to have a swooshing sound when TF3D swaps to another app
settings/system/TouchFLO/enable sound when finger scrolling and panning.
i do have a fast ticking when i scroll in any page but not in the photo album. if the photo album is the only one without sound then i think that's the way it is! maybe a later tweak.
hope i got right yr question
nice
thx for the information. Where can I set up a new sound for the TF3D? Did not find it on sounds&notifications
the manual is wrong because speaks about sound in photo album menu...

I think the general idea is to have the swooshing sound when we pan between tf3d tabs, or between pictures in album etc. The sound settings only change the harsh sound for tipping on the screen, the touchflo settings change only the panning sound for e.g. scrolling in contacts. So I don't know whether it's even possible, or maybe someone would need to program it in...

How to use answering machine

I set up the greeting for the answering machine and enabled it but calls still just go to my regular voicemail? How to I properly set this up?
Check Step 5 to adjust time before answering machine start record call
Step 1
Go to settings on the Sony Xperia Z2. You can access settings via the notification bar or the app launcher.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 2
Open the Call settings option.
Step 3
You’d be able to see quite a few options in the 'Other Call Settings'. Tap on 'Answering Machine' to proceed.
Step 4
Simply hit the checkbox against the Answering Machine. Now, let’s take a look at the options available allowing you to take the maximum benefit of this feature.
Step 5
The 'Pick up after' option gives you the ability to configure the exact time when the call should be answered automatically. You can also use this feature when you’re roaming, although you’ll incur charges for incoming calls.
Step 6
'Greetings' is a vital feature, since this is where you’ll be recording the voice message you want to be played back to callers. You can also record different messages for various situations and then simply select any of them, depending upon your need. Sadly, there’s no granular control and all the callers will get to hear the same message – you can't limit this to certain contacts or set different greetings for different ones.
Step 7
The best part about the feature is that the caller can also record a message for you after hearing your greeting, ensuring that you can get important messages in case of an emergency.
Here’s the Answering Machine feature in action
You can also pick up the call when the person is leaving you a message, if you deem it important.
There you go, you’ve successful set up the Answering Machine feature on your swanky Sony Xperia Z2! Let us know in comments below how this feature works for you and whether you’d like such options to be available on other smartphones.
Thanks got it working, the only thing I don't like is if I reject the call, it sends them to my T-Mobile Voicemail instead of the built in answering machine.

Help! Clock App notification settings bugged? "Alarm and timer alerts" grayed out an
Anyone else have this problem? My alarm stopped sounding off one morning. What happened was the alarm went off, silently. There is a notification that I "missed" my alarm. This continued to happen for 2-3 days. So I looked into Settings > Apps > Clock > Notifications. And under "Alarm and timer alerts" it is set to "Silent". This is also grayed out so that I cannot change it! Please see the screenshot I have uploaded.
I do not know if the setting was like this from the beginning, but the Alarm was operating fine every day before this. The sound was going off fine before.
Now after extensive checking I still cannot identify the problem. But I have managed to at least get alarms ringing now. All new alarms I add seem to ring fine. HOWEVER, the settings page (screenshot) still shows "Silent" and it is still grayed out. What is going on??
I want to use the stock Alarm but I cannot rely on it until I figure out why it is grayed out on silent. What if I oversleep for something important because suddenly the Alarm does not sound?
Can other anyone please check if their notification settings show up like this? If not, I would like to find out why my phone is like this. I did debloat some apps with adb but that was weeks before the Alarm problem. Maybe removing Bixby affected it somehow?

Mines greyed out, that's for notifications, for example you will get a notification 5 minutes before your set alarm so you can just dismiss it, it's not for the actual alarm.

Weird, what would be the purpose of this kind of notification? Like the notification 5 minute before the alarm you mentioned... I have never seen that happen. What is it for?
It's so you can dismiss the alarm before it goes off, for example your alarm is set at 6:30 a.m. and you're already up you can dismiss it.
