Help please

I have a new HTC Kaiser, just come from a N95 8GB and have to use the Kaiser as my corporate phone. I am having real trouble as it locks up and freezes ... can't click the start button, texts dont open etc etc button presses take ages to register. Other times it is really fast... (I dont have lots of apps open) This is an unbranded , unlocked unit so I dont know why I am having all this trouble as I have installed nothing onto it.
What should I do ... It does seem to be a software thing, the device firmware is cd os 5.1.1620 (18215.0.4.2).
I just want it to be fast and responsive and work well as a phone... I hope i am not asking to much
Any suggestions would be welcome, I had a look at all the firmwares, but not sure where to start.

flash a new rom and see how it is?

that was my point, there a lot of roms to choose from ... What would you suggest....

dutty dutty dutty.. from my personal experience duttys are the ones with the most features and really speedy as well.. but try different ones out and see which one works for you

i would suggest a hard reset and see if that solves ur problem.
the rom i have in my sig is very fast and responsive.

L26! L26! L26! I enjoy his ROMs throughly. You will notice that everyone has his or her own opinion. And once you get the Bite on one, you'll want to keep trying.

Please forgive my ignorance but I dont have a clue what you guys are talking about... I originally was looking to see if there was a firmware upgrade for the Tytn 2 since Nov last year?
Upon stumbling on this thread I am very interested to know more... Is there a dummy's guide to doing what you describe above?

Info on Hard-SPL

Holiday greetings to all! I was wondering if anyone had some source code or can link me to a tutorial or thread where they talk in more technical detail about writing a patch / firmware update to make a Hard SPL for any other HTC phone. I'm currently working on doing an android port for the Jade and wanted to knock out the first hurdle. Sorry for the laziness in searching but I tried for a couple of hours but couldn't find anything. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the links you posted. I checked those threads out already and they are more of a high level how to do it with the software already written. I'm looking more for a discussion of concepts with theory and code thrown in. Pretty much starting from scratch writing a HardSPL using C/ARM asm. I'm new to the HTC scene so trying to learn from the beginning and get my feet wet, or rather i should say put on my scuba gear and go muff diving.

all info you need is stickied. did you really needed a new thread for this? have you not use a forum before? i mean there isn't even an excuse for this one. i don't want to just flame and be mean but reading this post upset me as it probably would many as well. could you not see that wat your finding is stickied? i mean it's plain smacking you in the face in BOLD letters once you get in the rom development thread. wat'd you do, not even read anything and decided to make a thread for it? don't get me wrong, im a total nub too but DAM!!! not even on this level. i feel for sorry for the staff managing this forum.

Questions

I'm quite new to this community and i want to ask a lot of questions to the people that know the answers i tried searching the forum or google but i get some bits and pieces of info that are most confusing and there's no straight answer.First and most important is about flashing my device and all the new ROM's that are "cooked" and my questions are
"Do i need to do that?"
and
"What are the benefits from it?" cause if it's only for looks there's a lot of programs that can do the same stuff. I supose ROM fashing has to do something with performance too but there's is no complete info anywhere only numbers and letters that doesn't mean anything to me.
I understand that there is no official 6.5 upgrade of winmo fo HD and thats why there are the "cooked" versions of it but how can i make a difference between a good "cooked" version and the unstable ones.
Also are there ROM's that can damage my device even when doing everything by the book? and..
Is the "Dummies guide..." thread for every HD no matter when you bought it and what stock ROM is already on your device ( i don't know if there is a big difference but i have to ask).
I guess i wrote all of this because I don't want to ask and write a milion more times when i do something wrong by flashing it without enough knowledge.I understand that these questions are the deffinition of "noob" but for me it's "better safe than sorry".

In fact comparing the performance of ROMs is very susbjective in most cases. However there are a few benchmarking applications, the results should be quite self explainable.

Normally most chiefs are trying to get stable versions, so if there is anything wrong with the ROM it should be pronounced in the description.
However you are free to try it on your own, as you won't damage anything by flashing a custom ROM at all.

Normally you won't damage anything, but be aware that nobody can assure that. However I'm flashing ROMs since months on a weekly basis and haven't had any issues so far.

Normally it should work on every device.
I suppose you read up some of the threads and the wiki. Before flashing anything you should really know what you are doing, and what is going to be different afterwards. It sounds a bit goofy, but I guess there are enough people out there, who can't say what they are actually doing.

You don't need to do anything though many people are tempted due to the improvements in stability, less bugs/issues, speed etc

Very few unstable roms out there and generally speaking if you look at how long the thread for each rom is you'll get a bit of understanding of how popular it is....i,e, safe, reliable etc etc. Also read this

I've basically tried nearly all roms and haven't damaged my device yet. As long as you use HSPL or USPL you will be fine. Info on each in the wiki

The dummies guide is an excellent guide by a good friend of mine and is intended for complete novices and noobs. If you follow this you cannot go wrong. If by accident you get stuck somewhere following his guide, just ask for help in his thread and many people including cRaCKwHoRe and myself will be more than happy to assist you.

I agree with you to a certain extent. Thats why I provided a link to wiki & guide for him/her to read up on. But at some point we have all been noobs and to offer a little advice isn't too much to ask for. Afterall this is a community based on sharing knowledge.
Depending on mood I'm in I sometimes just tell them to read wiki etc and other times I offer more. Maybe today I'm just in a good mood!!!

Come on there are hundreds of these threads that get closed because noobs like you yourself are either ignorant or too lazy to read, for those of us who actually bother to read it is extremely frustrating to sift through post after post of the exact same questions with the exact same answers that already have sticky's and/or detailed info in the Wiki.

I'm inclined to agree, I'm a noobie, but haven't and wouldn't post questions about 'how to flash' etc etc as there is clearly many many threads about it- you just have to take the time to read up on them before taking the plunge.
Read the stickies, read again- and again, when you are ready to flash have loads of pages open to answer any questions as things happen when you are flashing, Truth is, it's nothing to worry about, choose a rom, install HSPL first and flash away, it does it all automatically for you.

Thank you for your quick reply and the information given and to the people who object to my questions actually when you're writing in this thread without a solution or help you're flooding more than me and yes i tried to get the answers form the forum and google also as i wrote in my first post but i didn't get them thats why i аsked and thankfuly people who have been in my position understood what I was implying to.There was no need for hostility ... Whatever thanks again and i hope i won't have to write here again as I see it's making people angry.

It is intimidating at first, but stick with it and it'll start to become clear, once you do it you'll get the flashing bug!

Rhodium HardSPL - News and Updates

First I'd like to mention that I am grateful for all the developers on XDA working on these phones. I'm no programmer but I know plenty who are in all fields so I can appreciate what you are all doing.
I just wanted to create this thread to see how close we are to getting our hands on the HardSPL for Rhodium and any updates on development.
I've had my Touch Pro 2 for about a week and half now and already bored with it. The phone itself is great, but Windows Mobile 6.1 seriously sucks.
I really want to start using Windows Mobile 6.5, which brings me to why I created this post.
If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.

Olipro and cmonex are still searching for mobile devices with hynix memory to test some stuff.
In short, don't expect anything soon and have patience

hmm this thread will be good for the usual "hardspl waititing posts".. when release comes, we (olinex) will just create the real hspl thread, so mods will not have to clean up for release (like for topaz they had to).
as to why this flash type checking is so important: on topaz the hynix ones really just got lucky by not getting their mfg partition corrupt. (no one got it corrupt but as i said that was luck) i want to avoid any such problems on rhodium.

Does this mean there is a feasible solution for Samsung based units ?
I am surprised that it makes a difference based on the fact HTC wont have made a separate spl for hynix based units. and rom upgrades will contain the same info...
can hard spl for samsungs be realeased with a link to the tutorial on how to ensure you have samsung?
darides tutorial suggests most people seem to have samsung anyway.
infact has ther been a hynix unit seen in the wild?

Perhaps Olinex can make a version for samsung that checks on the sspl that the memory is samsung or not. to avoid bricks or other problems.
I have not seen or know anyone with hynix memory on their tp2 after checking about 5 different units from my friends and family they are all samsung. My vodafone one is samsung too.

Can we please have an ETA / timeline for the release of the HardSPL for our HTC Rhodium.
I hate my Vodafone UK branded HTC Touch Pro 2. It is red and so am I with anger. Joking aside I love HTC standard ROM's. The last one I put on my HTC Touch Pro was amazing.

If you want to flash the HTC Shipped ROM, look out for the Goldcard methods. I'm not going into detail here because it's off topic and well documented else where. If all else fails cmonex normally helps via PM.

I can totally understand people begging for this. I nervously waiting for it to, but not to install custom ROMs. I'm waiting for it to get blackberry connect running. To achieve that I need to manipulate the device ID in the ROM itself, to fool RIM, let them think it's running on a proper device. But to flash this manipulated ROM I need HSPL (or does someone know a way to manipulate the device ID (HTC-Rhodium) in another way?).
However, asking and begging does not help or make stuff easier or getting it done faster. We all need to be brave and patient and wait a bit and let olipro and cmonex get this stuff done.

Sorry to go a bit OT here but I am interested in your info about Blackberry Connect. I have just come to the TP2 from a Storm and one thing that is lagging behind with the TP2 IMO is the push email, would the 'updated' ROM you are proposing allow me to use the pushmail service from BB ?

Have you tried to change your AKU?
If NO you can change this:
