2.2 ROM to flash - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a release of this ROM to flash on my Mytouch 3G 32a?
I wanted to test it out and make some modifications to it for educational purposes with my friend.
Also, a cliq too. Would that be possible to flash the same 2.2 ROM for two separate phones or would I need a special one for the two different phones.
Thanks.

Man, not this again. Wait until Android 2.2 gets on a phone officially.
Cyanogen can port it to the g1/mt3g (also the n1 and the droid) but for now all we got is android 2.1
You have to ask another dev to port it to the cliq since the cliq isn't really talked much about on xda.

Thanks for your reply. I'll look into it. But I wasnt looking for a cyanogen release or any other ROM modification release. I wanted the Raw 2.2 file.

Cyanogen won't be releasing anything before its officially released.

Froyo legend build

The source code for Froyo was released today
I am building a Vanilla Froyo rom for Legend, and should have the beta ready for download soon!
Great news
Just a stupid question: Froyo is available on AOSP. That means the sources of the OS are available. With this as a starting point, what is required to port it to a specific device (ie the legend)? Do you need the sources of the kernel (that HTC published), specific drivers (which ones?), something else?
Thanks!
MichaelAlexanderBull wel all love you!!!
gooooooood jub
Yeahhh!!!! CanĀ“t wait.
Thanks!!!!
If you are succesfull, you will be our hero. Ohw and please put htc sens on it
This is really good news! I'm currently running the rom from Ali Ba, and I already prefer stock Android over Sense. Keep up the good work!
Great news!!!!
please let me enjoy legend without looking at my brother's nexus one with froyo
good news. cannot wait for the new ROM

I think most of us would prefer it without sense ..
Y is sense so bad? I don't mind having sense maybe not the news and footprint but a lot of the sense I think its great
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
I guess it will be very hard to port Froyo to the Legend because HTC devices often depend on com.htc.framework which will most likely not work with Froyo.
I'm going to try to port Froyo too once I get Vanilla Bean 0.3 ready, but this is hard work.
Sorry, not that I think MichaelAlexanderBull is doing bad work, but he simply doesn't have the source code for a few of the libraries needed to run HTC devices (especially some libraries that implement proprietary hardware calls). So don't expect a fully functional release.
I'm sure will see Froyo on the Legend though, just be patient.

You know more than me, But im still going to try
EDIT:
I have managed to get the G1 port to boot and run on my legend in the past, it could recieve calls etc, but the touchscreen problem was there.
So i'm feeling confident that we will get a good stable release working with the ASOP release! Will probably take a bit of time, but it is going to happen

No, really, I'm confident you'll learn how to compile and port Froyo in no time. It's hard at the beginning, but once you get into it, it can be lots of fun too.
I wish you great success.
I would like to know if Flash would work in the browser.
That would be AWESOME
Froyo FTW
Cant wait for this ROM. It will be awesome

you guys (michael and ali ba) should work together. this will make porting froyo to legend faster. =)

Cyanogen Mod 6 for CDMA Hero

Anyone tried this ?
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/...or-htc-hero-gsmcdma-alpha-preview-test0-0705/
thats for gsm hero
Sorry didn't catch that...
it's actually for both cdma and gsm. i guess they figured out they can just use a different kernel for each network. i believe darch has a newer version up on the froyolinks page avaliable in the irc
Read again.
CyanogenMod 6.0.0 for Htc Hero Gsm/Cdma Alpha Preview (test0 - 07/05)
It has
Additional mandatory kernel update for CDMA users
From reading the Froyo thread on the development side, it looks like there's plenty of work to be done.
Just wondered if anyone had tried Cyanogen yet on their Hero ?

I have darchdroid 2.7 and I am almost certain it is based of Cyanogen. I know Cyanogen themes work with it.
darch has been working on Froyo and according to what I've read on IRC is the lead dev on CM6 for the CDMA Hero. I am getting confused by the other projects that keep popping up, but darch knows what he's doing so I'm waiting on his Froyo to be final.

Since yesterday, native tethering and the preview with the camera, but you can download camera magic to fix that

Weve had every cyanogen update since 2.2 has been released.. Join the hero-cdma IRC channel, its on the first page of the froyo thread in development. Darchstar is the main dev of the cdma hero and lox is the dev for gsm hero. They joined the 2 heros source. But yesterday Darch said he was separating the two do to some problems.
But cyanogen mod is very nice and very stable, almost all mods from cm 5 is ported over to 6 and more is added all the time. Also darch is adding, fixing and improving the rom almost daily. Everything works but the preview screen on the native camera app.. Use a 3rd party camera app and it works perfect.
There has only been 2 ppl to release a cdma 2.2 (since source), it was me and darch. But that was back when both of ours were based 100% off of google 2.2 source, and it was only because he stopped including JIT. Every other rom released has been from darch and he will be the only one to release them (they do include JIT, just off by default and its based on cyanogen mod).

Is this possible?- Data2ext

Hey All,
I was just wondering if data2ext would be possible for our beloved milestone. Could some devs please take a look at this - http://www.xda-developers.com/android/new-hack-for-desire-and-nexus-one-data2ext/ ?
I hope this will be possible.

I'm going to say no (on Froyo) currently - data2ext seems to requires the same thing that apps2sd (CM) does, and the G.O.T. 2.2.1 leaked SBF doesn't support it.
If you still have 2.1u1/2 from MOTO - then maybe.
So you are saying that the former one is may be compatible but no for the new one ? may be we have to wait for the officiall froyo for this ?

Yes, the 2.1 moto kernel supports it, but the leaked 2.2 moto kernel doesnt. Hopefully the official kernel 2.2 will. So if your phone is still on eclair it could be potted, but I don't think any devs are focused on eclair roms much anymore
The way it's implemented requires ext access from Android. This requires a kernel module which for now does not work in our leaked 2.2.1 based builds. It will probably work when Moto releases the source code for the kernel. As of now, ext access is only on 2.1 based builds.

yes, it should work on eclair - if a dev is willing to try to port it.
Can't wait, hope this will get ported so I can mess with it my Milestone.
Tried this on my Droid tonight and had no luck. On my old phone(CDMA HTC Hero200) I was going from 190MB of internal space to around 473MB of internal space. I just tried it tonight on my Droid with all the coding on Better Terminal Emulator Pro and had no luck whatsoever. I am running CM7.1 Stable on my Droid. It's Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread and thats what I had on my Hero as well. I'll keep looking at the coding and everything and see what I can do for us. I'll talk with some guys over in the Hero Forums about it too. There are different types of data2ext versions as well that may be of some use to us.
EDIT: OK,I had an old android app sitting around on my external called swapper.apk. I gave it a try on my droid today as well and had no luck. I used to use that app on my old T-Mobile G1 way back in the day. Thought it MAY work but got nothing,I'm at a loss right now but will keep working on this for everyone!

Problem is thanks to locked bootloader we still have to rely on them for a kernel
Hopefully they'll provide us with a good Froyo kernel with the official release, but we'll never get a true Gingerbread kernel

It doesnt matter anyways. I'm running gingerbread for several days now and it runs flawless. The speed is amazing and the improvement compared to 2.2 is noticeable. You wont be needing a 2.3 kernel. I think the milestone can stay with this. Installing an AOSP Gingerbread + some memory tweaks in open recovery juices the most from this phone. Flash works perfectly! Can it get better than this?
I believe when the minor bugs(mostly unnoticeable) in Gingerbread will be fixed everything is going to be great.
So who cares about motorola anyways?!
may someone kindly explain how is this possible to "run" gingerbread on froyo kernel (as same as it was with froyo running on eclair kernel)?
What exactly do we get by running new OS without new kernel?
What will be better if we would have gingerbread kernel for the gingebread roms?
It would be nice to know why is this, not just how it manifests.
With the froyo leak, a new kernel was released, so there are a lot of ROMs that can replicate froyo performance for real now... and please correct me if i'm wrong but gingerbread is based on the froyo kernel right? so thats why we've already got froyo as well as GB roms for milestone...
if we are lucky end of February, early March official release is to be expected
Yeah froyo will be one your er.. our phone in two weeks.

Official statements are still in the form of Q1 2011...the rest is guessing. I suggest you root your phone and learn how to flash ROMs. Froyo (2.2) is the end of the line for our phone from Mot...but the community already has 2.3 working.

I've already had tried almost every rom available for milestone, I just hope that the official froyo release will bring the devs some better ground to build their roms on, isn't that right? Won't be the official froyo release any better?

You are probably right to a certain extent...the kernel and motor drivers are not release/final. But for all we know, the latest leak is final.
What problems remain for you?
The latest android leak has excellent battery life and performance in CM7 is through the roof...

Android 3.0 for Milestone?

Hi all develoers here. Salute to you all for whatever you did for our milestone.
Just a noob question. Is by any chance, by stripping down, or by any magic, is there a possibility to port Android 3.0 for Milestone? Is it possible?
http://developer.android.com already released information and sdk about 3.0. Any expert comments about hardware requirement or any hardware comparisaon details available yet?
I have seen many chinese android tablets and devices with same or lower configuration than milestone running with higher versions like 2.3.3 and some even claiming to have 3.0. (There are already many 3.0 tablets on ebay with lower configuration than Milestone. http://cgi.ebay.in/BRAND-NEW-8GB-7-...31243148?pt=IN_PC_Laptops&hash=item4cf532848c )
Any possible luck? Any experts there?
The old HTC G1 even can run 3.0 (just for fun, nothing more) so i think MS can run 3.0 (but...just for fun, nothing more...^_^).
As sayd, maybe MM can run 3.0 with some hack/tweak/mods, but nothing farther...
Google says that 3.0 is for tablets intended, 2.3/2.4 and so on for mobile
MM can't run Honeycomb, cause we have locked bootloader.
I can't imagine Honeycomb with Froyo kernel

Then why not for fun? When other low-configured devices can run 3.0 seriously, then why not on Milestone, which actually have good confi?

Do not agree. Milestone is already rooted and thousands of experimets with GB is already done. Seems you dont visit milestone rom developement section. Its always better to get some information before commenting with dead ends.
Anyways thanks all for your inputs.
Are they still trying to Bruteforce open the bootloader? Or did they give up?
It's still open at www.androinc.net, but most of us don't trust the project since the source was never released and it just seems shady.
almost a month over, but no useful information from motorola nor any developers. Seems motorola bootloader will never be cracked in future.

You are wrong. All the latest rom available for MM is over froyo kernel and no GB as you stated. Yes we now run GB on our MM but the Kernel still Froyo. I think YOU should start read the DEV section a bit more instead of saying this things.

Google has clearly stated that Android 3.0 is only meant for tablet use.
