does anyone know a fix for this? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Windows Mobile 6 Upgrading

i have tried a lot of the great windows mobile 6 ROM'S posted here and i wanted to know if anyone else or if they had a workaround for a strange happening that seems to effect a lot of the windows mobile 6 ROM'S.
what happens is when the battery charge gets near to being 50 to 60% dead the himalaya handset will switch off as if it is out of charge?
has anyone else had this happen?

As WM6.X has got a bigger power consumption it sounds as if you've got a bad main battery. Try over/underclocking the cpu. Search for XCPUScalar - Works great an gives you a little better power management while underclocking on week cpu-load.
Link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=596798&highlight=cpu+load

Yes, your battery is dead. I have 4 batteries for himalaya and only muckelmaus's one works good, others is used to flash only (I used to flash on 0% battery and without lol)

Unexplained phone shut down

Im not sure if this question has been answered but i could not find the answer to my question and i really need an answer so sorry if this is already posted.
First off i have a G1 (Dream) and have rooted it. Ive been flashing roms for a while first starting with 1.6 and Heros and now have HTCClays Superbad. Recently i have noticed that the phone just shuts off suddenly when im not hooked to the charger and im either streaming video or even just using apps. Im not sure if its the battery or the phone. Ill charge the phone to FULL then either use apps or use the brower to view video or even Skyfire and the phone wil shut off. I restart it the battery is either half what it was prior or it will start blinking red. I take the battery out and put it back in and the battery is back to green, if i open up an app itll run for like 2 minutse then the phone shuts off again. I have no clue whats going on here because ive been flashing roms the same way since the first rom i flashed which was Fasttest. Could it be the partition im using? Could it be the rom? Battery? Does anyone know whats going on here? Any help would be so appreciated!
this is my partition setup

It sounds like its the battery... do you tether on your comp alot? My buddy is on his 3rd battery because he sits tethered to his computer all night playing first person shooters, all the while leaving his phone plugged in for 8 hours straight

Ive never used a tether app before. I dont even know how lol. And i forgot to mention that when the phone shuts off and i restart i get the red blinker and a shut off then when i plug the phone back into the charge its at 75%, wth? It started doing this just recently.
you might try to drain the battery all the way down and then recharge it to get it to top shape...
if you take the battery out its not fat or bulging is it?

Thanks for the help

I missed the fat bat
but OC kernels seem to be the root of random shutdowns, reboots and freezes
and it could be what ran the battery out of spec
Its an over-charging thing...Ive seen it done to two g1s so far..Ive had mine since day one and charge it overnight almost every night. So Im not too sure of what over charging is... thats ateast 500 charges at 5-7 hours plus whatever I charge on the side at work or heavy days
Its the battery....
The same thing was wrong with mine
My battery was "swollen" and I just got another one off craigslist and it works perfectly fine
Its usually cuz you use it a lot while its charging...

Thanks junkdruggler. So ok im a little confused with your last quote, so you said its an over charging thing but then you said youre not sure what over charging is...sorry that was just a little confusing. Do you know what causes this bloating? And is this a general thing with batteries? ill avoid doing whatever causes this in the future.

Yeah im not sure how much charging or use while charging is a bad thing... like i said I charge my phone overnight, every night. on a day like today I will watch a movie on the way to work then play music til my phone dies and charge it on the way home... so today my phone will get two charges.. and this happens alot. I have no drain issues or a "fat batt"
My buddies sit on 3g with wifi tether on while charging off their usb port for hours on end.. and the bloat their batteries.. I dont know if its the heat or what..

Thanks alot man! This really helped, i ordered a new battery from buy.com. You can do all that on your phone? And you have a G1? How long have you had the battery in it? Do you have one of those extended batts? ANd i will say that i do use the phone while hooked to the charger a lot like using the blutooth. i def cannot watch a movie on my G1. I might just wait till my contract ends in dec to switch from tmobile to Att or something i thought tmobile would be the king of android phones but its been really disappointing to see all the good phones go to wack Verizon (the network i switched from).

Hi Firerat!
I got this problem too, the phone keep reboots, shutdowns and freezes randomly, more and more often.
I tried many ways: flash another ROM, change battery (2300mAh on ebay and tried my friend's HTC Rogers Dreambattery also), wipe all.... but nothing help.
I almost gave up. But when I search in this forum, I found your post.
What is OC kernels? Can you please help me solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

OC = OverClocked
if the ROMs you are using are running the CPU out of spec it is probably that which is causing the issues
you can use an app called SetCPU, this will allow you to set the CPU frequencies
default 'stock' frequencies are
245 - 384
the CPU is actually rated 528 ( I believe it was underclocked due to battery issues, but things have moved on since then, so 528 is a stable max )
OK kernels can have a range of 122 - as much as 600+,
use the auto detect feature of SetCPU and use the slider to narrow the range
160 - 575 seems to be stable
160 - 528 should be fine
Many people fall into a trap of setting a very low narrow range in a sleep profile, believing this will save battery, which it will but it will 'lag' coming out of sleep.
Personally I have the sleep profile 160 - 528
when in sleep it will underclock ( as its doing nothing ) but if I wake it ( or call comes in ) I won't suffer lag while SetCPU waits to change profiles ( it will just scale up to the max if needed )
PS SetCPU is available from the market, just $0.99, but the dev has made it freely available on XDA
so give it a try and go for the market donate if you like it/ find it usefull

Extended battery users info needed

I am have been thinking about getting an extended battery but all the ones i have seen have been too big. Today i found this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EXTENDED-BATT...t=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c15e058f4#shId . I was just wondering if anyone has this particular battery and if the pictures are accurate because ive seen plenty of photoshopping ebay sellers in my time . Thanks
It is not the original one. Anyway you can try it. Not so much money. I am using the extended battery and i have to say only good works. Ok the phone becomes bigger from behind, but i can keep it now better. The feel in the hands is better i think. Also, i charge my phone every 4 days or 5. It depends on the usage. Ok you decide at the end
It fits
and works great. Easier to hold. Not to bulky and runs for days with normal use. Charged to 100% on Fri. at 2pm. Now Sunday at 10 am at 58%. Lite use.

I have heard that the power management micro-chip is located in the phone, not in battery then therefore, it would count with fixed standard battery capacity. In Vietnam, our HD2 users experienced they have to take out the extended battery and re-mount it again since the power management chip will shutdown the phone when battery discharged to apprx. 1250mAh as standard.
Any idea???
FYI, I planned to buy a extended battery then have to consult you all Appreciate your comment. My firmware is 1.66.707.1 (76641) WWE

Yes i think the phone with extended thick battery has much better grip to handle!, and it even protects the camera lens when you put it on a surface.
got same
I've got same one a little cheaper:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...27801&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1333wt_1135
It works great, but back cover is quite easy to unlock, sometimes fall off.
Anyone experienced?
I received the battery and it is A LOT thinner than i expected it to be. As other users have mentioned it makes the phone feel more secure in my hand. The kickstand is very hard to get out. (especially for me since i have very short nails). The battery is currently at 88% so ill test it tommorow and report back on how well it does.
Overall it looks like a very good product for the price and i would recommend it (if it holds up in my testing)
i've bought the same battery from a different seller...tbattery shows the same specs as the original; however, like the poster above mentioned once I took the battery out and reinsert it I got approximately another 40% out of the battery(turning the phone off and bak on will Not do it)...
first time since buying the phone I havnt had to recharge it overnight...

some people say this fixes itself after the first charge/discharge cycle and others say you have to apply htc's patch. I hope one of these is the case because i'd hate to have to be doing that all the time
Update: After fully discharging and recharging the battery i am haveing the same issue as some people. The battery discharges at a similar rate to the stock battery and when it powers off i have to take the battery out and re insert it to get the rest of the power (which is aroung 60%). Im going to try upgrading to the latest official rom to see if it helps

didn't work
The HD2s we use at work have the extended battery - looks like that one. I find it makes the handset too bulky for me but most everyone else finds them more comfortable to hold. Either way extra battery life is never a bad thing - especially if you're using GPS a lot.
cover
i use a cover on mine, obviously for scratch protection.
but with the extra bulk behind, is there new covers for it?
or do you guys tske the risk from scratches
mine is a 3400mah and does not work either -.- . Did someone make it work on winmobiles ??? Really need help here !!!

Battery Time a little depressing

Hey guys i dont know if this is normal but i seem to be running through my battery like crazy. i took a 10 minute drive and used the mp3 player with screen off. Just that ride used 4 %. Maybe im just not use to it because the iphone 4 seemed to have great battery life or maybe a bad battery.

I am on the ROM in my signature.
But one thing, since I use data more for like emails and not heavy downloads, I am EDGE most of the time.
On a side note, I put on a movie in loop to see the battery drain. I got near to about 5 hours of movie before the video player shut down saying low battery (I think this message comes up when battery is like 15%).
See my battery stats I noted. The post is in the thread of the ROM I am using.

What you are experiencing is very common with new Captivates. Give it a few complete charging cycles (completely drain the battery from 100% and charge it back to 100%). My battery life began to significantly improve within about two weeks. I'm now getting a pretty solid 24 hours out of a charge and I'm on my phone a lot. Also, one of the benefits of these phones over the iphones is the easily accessible battery. Do yourself a favor and buy a couple of batteries and a wall charger from ebay. The package will cost about $20 and will ensure that you will never worry about running out of juice ever again.

[Q] Battery problems G1

Hi to everyone! I have a g1 and I decided to use it again. I replaced the battery for a new one (I bought it few days ago). When I used after charging it all night it just lasted 3 hours. Then I googled for solutions and I did all what I found (charge it full and reset battery stats and let it drain all, charge it with the phone off, etc) without results. Then I tried one Barry with more capacity (the ones that you need to change the cover) that a friend have and was the same. After more or less three hours, the phone turned off. I had cyanogenmod 7 installed with the latest radio and spl. Today I tried with stock room, unrooted with the same results.
If someone knows a solution, please let me know. Thanks
It may be your ROM, but this is very new to me, even those big ones? Try another ROM:FroyoByLazslo is my favourite and fastest
I'm checking with the stock rom, but I'm going to give a try. Thanks!
Hi,
maybe you overclocked it very much; this can use very much battery. If you want to save energy, you should undervolt it...
Hardy
Hmmm, I don't think is that. I tried with the stock room (1.6) and was the same. And this morning I tried to use the phone, but I had decided last night to turn it off to save battery and was dead! Maybe the phone has something... today I flashed the room froyo by laslo, looks good and is fast! I'm going to underclock it and see what happen. Also I read something about a draining problem when you connect it in the laptop through usb, might it is the cause of all this?
Only with some kernels, if your drain problem is due to software then flash a different kernel

PS: You're welcome!
HI, after checking all that you say. I wipe all and after I charged the battery, y wip e the stats and now is working better! With the normal one, I get 6 hours on standby and with normal use, 4..... I tried with 2200mhA and I get 12 hours with medium use, but I with this one the phone is bulky..... BUt well now is my gps!
Thanks!
No prob dude we are here to help the guys who need help, that's why it's a forum XD
TC, you must understand that all G1 batteries are quite old now. They were made betwixt 2008-2010, batteries begin losing their max charge right after they are made in the factories. It's only natural for your battery life to be poor, batteries can be damaged heavily by heat sources, my notebook's battery life became 5 Minutes b/c the wear level was extremely high. I assume your G1's battery is in "bad" condition cell wise. Either calibrate or buy an OEM battery(3rd batteries are tricky). If you calibrate try one of these...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312273
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187698
Also if you need battery you should honestly stick with cupcake, donut. Anything past that is already sluggish and pushes the G1, which means the CPU is always at max which leads to shorter battery. And lets not forget the post donut versions have more services and what not.

What's wrong with 3rd party batteries? In my experience I've had two different ones bought off eBay and each worked better than my new OEM battery.

Seriuos Overheating and Battery Problem??

Hi everyone! My phone is 2 months old, 1 week ago, my phone start to heat so badly, in upper part is really really hot... As a matter of fact the battery is drained really fast, 3 hours in stand by... Before can get one day easily... Make a factory reset, doesn't work... The problem start a few days after I update de stage fright update, you think is the problem? Anyone else experience this? The phone is out of warranty in USA, cause is a UK version, xt1068....
Ty:good::good::good:
processor in probably running at full speed doing something it's not supposed to. I seriously doubt it's a hardware problem so I would recommend unlocking the bootloader and try using another ROM.
could it be as a UK phone in USA its always trying to find a better network? this would cause heat and drain issues?
Yeah think the same. I'll try... The 5.1 update it suppose to comes up this month...

I do not think so... Happens the same, without sim...
Besides, even when I charge power off, with a wall adapter 1A, it never charges, because it discharge more easily than charge. I have to charge with a 2A charger, but is really slow, more than 8 hours to get completly charge... What do you think?
As decipher said, what seems to be is a process eating all the battery and keeping the CPU at full speed. We don't know if it's an app you're using or an Android problem so to see it the best thing you can do is to unlock your bootloader, install twrp or cwm recovery and then flash a custom rom. Personally I had some overheating problems on my xt 1068 at stock version and battery drain, but not this 3 hours standby you're getting. Now I'm using Minimal OS and it's working nice! Tell us if it solves your problem! Good luck! :good::fingers-crossed:
