[Q] Short of space

Hello,
I was wondering yesterday why my hero (2.1) noticed short available space
I checked the app manager and 3 of them seem very very big
- contact: approx 15MB
- twitter: approx 19MB (unistall + re-install = 3.5MB)
- google maps: approx: 9MB
Is this normal?
Can you advise me how to reduce the size af these apps? (its not a pb of cache)

Just get app2sd on the market and move all movable apps to the sd card.

You may try to delete the files used by the app from application manager in settings..
that may help you..

I finally updated my hero with floyo and everything fine now !

sure, it works... however I'm not sure if you need to root your phone first...

this is a little late, but if the Move To SD Card button is pressable, does that mean they are movable? I did it once and lost all icons for my apps? >.<;

what are the app/game that u tried to download???

that with more than 5mb like Third Blade or Wrestling theme collection

PS: i havent rooted my phone but i have in andro-idv3.2 a app called superuser

i think it'll work on andro-id too....but is ur sd card partitioned? are u using a2sd?

Second partition must be called ''sd-ext'' to use this.

All my apps gone after mod!!

my items ( apps etc. ) are all gone! items from sd card are still there i downloaded the mod form here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101691 the mod works fine! i loved it but the absence of my apps scared me , i used link2sd so i don't know how to recover those apps (and my sd card is partitioned 2gb ! ) so how do you put your link2sded apps to your new mod? i xrecovered my phone to the old version for now ...any help?the search function don't seem to help me ...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1246047i read this thread but they said something about flash and i dun get it!

U have to play with bootloader and kernel which it support ext2/ext3 on Sdcard
1-this thread already here search b4 posting new thread..
2- u need to unlock bootloader (bootloader tool)
-connect your phone to pc.
-unpack the 7zip, and extract to destop, open the folder.
-double click "msm7227_semc.cmd"
-press any button and wait (done?) got to step 3
3- Download kernel (linuxDX or alfs kernel or nAa kernel) and save to desktop.
4- Flashing kernel (flash tool)
-unpack the compressed of 'flash tool', and copy to your desktop
-U have to move/copy the 'LinuxDX.ftf' file to 'flash tool folder/firmwares'
-shutdown phone
-Run 'X10FlashTool.exe'
-click flash
-now U can see the LinuxDX on 'branding' tab(can?) (U almost done)
-click 'ok' (it should be a few seccond only)
-When the flashing complete (your got kernel)

dude there meant to be gone. its the cycle of a rom. it happens with every rom..

Not really I always have app installed from previous roms,btw don't be scared just reinstall those app again.

thanks all for the reply! ...but sadly i don't und much about klip's post(thanks! but i dunno what's linux ) ...i think i just redownload all my apps then and send them to link2sd ...and also i xrecovered back to 2.1 because the gingerbread mod i use IS TOO DAM LAG , UNRESPONSIVE AND seems too have a problem with my go launcher so i have some questions >< please do help !
1.what are good gingerbread mod? i use ginger curzt mod ...it's great but it's laggy and don't work well with go launcer ex ( when you go to main page it needs 5seconds load time ) ... i heard GingerDX v20 is great but i can't find a download site sadly ...anyways is all the ginger mod the same? or different maker make diff mod? any recommendation?
2.does all mods work with launcher? my go launcer ex (a must for me ) seems to be problematic with my mod ...my go locker is not working with the mod too ...
3.does it take time for the mod to fit in with my phone ? i installed the mod and for the 1st day it's so slow ,lag and unresponsive i xrevcovered my phone ...or should i give it some time?

5.does more internal memory makes phone smoother?

yea...my phone seems to have rather poor battery life too in regular use , wifi , android marketing etc .. my battery last about 1hr =10% lost and with standby it ate 12% battery in 2hours ...is this a problem or is all w8 and x8 has poor battery life?

Bro,use froyopro,it's the most stable cm6,btw you can use titanium backup for saving all app,with rooted phone,you can overclock your cpu speed,unlock bootloader for new kernels,install xrecovery/cwm recovery to install other roms and the list goes on...
Charging from 0-100% it's let you to use the full power of battery,if you have problems with battery charging then reset battery stats in xrecovery,or download battery stats from market.I'm on phone now,sorry if I made mistakes.

man..i guess i will stay away (temporarily) from modding and rooting sruff for a month or two ...my mod just screwed my phone .. apps crash non stop ( said so many times cause of frustration ) forcing me to go back to eclair 2.1 ...mod too much problem on my w8 i guess i will stick with , xrecovery , link2sd , setcpu and apk files for now...THE TRAUMA!!

How to install NFS:MW?

Sorry if its been asked and resolved earlier. I just downloaded the apk and sd data for NFS:MW. Now the internal memory left on my dhd is like 866MB. And the extracted sd data is around 1.86gb! Where should I move it?? I mean i cant really move it to /data/data/com.nfs...... as there is no space. I have link2sd and a 4gb ext2 partition but not sure how and where to move this sd data.

Useless but funny reply! Just because I don't wanna download game data directly on the device (IDM works way much faster) doesnt mean I got a pirated copy. BUT PHLLEEAAASE can you shed some light over "Google Apps" in Custom Roms HERE...even the one you're using on your Inspire? Thanks for the reply though...gonna keep this thread alive for a while

[Q] Do the Cynaogen mod and Slim Roms (kitkat versions) implement Apps2SD

Hi I am not allowed to post in the developers section yet.
Can one of the users of the new Slim ROM or Cyanogen Mod roms for Locked bootloader tell me if they also implement or allow Apps2SD or do you have to use either Folder Mount or Link2SD.

I've didnt see such option from time when internal memory get more than 5GB.
Only whith apps 5GB of memory is enough. Link2SD or Integrated Apps2SD moved only APK files and datas like saves which is also stored in internal memory. For data files (games obb files for example) you have to use apps like Folder Mount, or mount folders by ownmade script, or "from finger" in Terminal Emulator.

That's a shame I'll stick with stock running version . 257

internal is more than enough... theres app called app2sd or link2sd... those should do it.. but things u have to rmember.. why sony dont put app into sd is it will make the app run slower n laggy... bcos the pathways is bcame complex and the read/write from external is much more slower than internal.. just put music n photo to external.. clear everything except apps into it.. that should do it

That confirms to me that I should stick with what I have currently.
