I just reverted back to CM 5.0.6 after trying out froyo. I missed the lil tweaks that were available on the custom ROM.
So I bet everyone's asking...
When can we expect a CM with Froyo?

Dude. It hasn't even been out a day yet. He also said he's not touching it for a release until everything's incorporated into AOSP. Give it time.
Also, this shouldn't be in the Dev section. Guarantee people will be flaming you shortly. ;-)
Boo this man.
^lol awesome movie btw

..only thing i miss thus far is trackball wake, other then that i dig froyo
Thanks for moving it to the Q&A section.
Yeah, missing the trackball wake and unlock. And the reboot phone option on the power button.
It's those little touches that made me go back to CM 5.0.6.
Obviously he, along with all the other devs will compile a rom.
It's been less than 10 hours. Give it time.
I can't wait until cyanogen pushes it, but until then I'll stick with stock froyo.
Froyo's so damn fast and slick I am sticking with it for now. Can't wait for CM 6 though, and I can't wait for trackball alert for Froyo.
He'll most likely be releasing add-ons like he has been till it goes AOSP

Since you reverted back from Froyo, can you still download stuff from the Market ?
It seems at least some people (including me) can't download anything from Market in CM 5.0.6 anymore, since we reverted from Froyo

Alright thanks guys, that's what I thought but I was just making sure.
with going with cyan 4.1.999, you have to grab the adp1.6 image then flash it, flash cyan on top of it and then do a wipe otherwise you will get force closes like a dirty *****

That image is the HTC image right? The one that the steps for going to 4.1.999 say to install first?
that would be correct
adp= htc's android dev phone. 1.6=donut
also you can use the singleflash rom
you guys r a trip. wth do u have all these random images already saved some where?

Any difference in signal between the 4.08 EVO kernel or GPS for that matter? I'm curious what the code difference is between the Inc radios is.

Works. I am seeing one less bar but my bars fluctuate way to much at work.

Hello! Well, since we don't have Fastboot files, I've scaled back ideas for a ROM, and created this. Please keep in mind, THIS ROM IS FOR SAFESTRAP SAFE MODE ONLY.
You know the drill. If you break your phone, I am sorry, but you can't hold me accountable.
Honestly, it's pretty pathetic as far as custom ROMs go. It's based on the stock Safestrap that Hashcode provided here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528557
I basically just went to work trying to get rid of as much as possible. I stripped out a bunch of the Motorola apps and Verizon apps, and anything you can easily download from the market. The only significant things I left were Music, MotoPrint, the Blur Gallery (because I wasn't sure the effect that removing this would have on the Camera). I also got rid of Motorola's Car Home and added the stock one. For those of you who don't have official car mounts, you'll find Car Home now listed in the apps. I removed the Blur Home, and dropped in Zeam.

I welcome feedback, ideas, and suggestions. I would love to figure out how to get 1% battery increments, toggles in the dropdown, replace that horrible Blur Gallery, and in general, continue to try to de-blur the thing.
I look forward to hearing from all of you. Good luck, and happy ROMing!

Thanks! Noob question...does this replace the stock ROM or would it be a second OS that I have to choose every time I reboot?

Once you install to the second system, SafeStrap will continue to boot to that system until you switch it back.

anyone on these particularly dead forums want to come close to as even try to port jellybean to the droid 4?
+1 on that. So what if we're not mainstream phone owners. We need some TLC too!

Just wait for the source to be released... then I'm sure hashcode will turn something out.
Hash will make a CM port, but CM10 won't be ready until the source drops.

They have already begun merging JB code into CM10. I am sure that as soon as there is an even semi-stable JB codebase we'll get a port of it.
Do you think an ICS based kernel is going to have issues with JB?

Nope, it should not. 4.1 has mostly architecture level changes, and some drivers, but not significant kernel level changes AFAIK.

The standard stuff. Camera and data are broken, along with various glitches. It's very stable though--no crashes yet.

So that's still on the Gingerbread kernel? That's darned impressive if so! Camera and data work fine on the ICS kernel from the leaks, so it's likely that there won't be a problem then. I must admit, that's sooner than expected.
CM-based kernel for the HTC First
The JB Kernel source released by HTC is lacking, to say the least, for anything aosp or cm-based. This port of the CM-maintained MSM8960 kernel should future proof the HTC First for at least 1-2 more Android releases.
The kernel is used in my current CM11 port.

A prebuilt image will not be provided. Use of this kernel assumes knowledge of compilation of kernels. I recommend using gcc 4.7 toolchain to compile the kernel.
Misc notes:
- Holding power key will not reset phone anymore as this functionality isn't implemented in gpio_input and I have no intention of doing so. Instead, the phone can be hard reset by holding power+vol up+vol down simultaneously
Feel free to report any bugs in this thread.
I am so happy to see someone still working on our First !!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for doing this ^^
When do you think you can share your cm 11 for our HTC first ??? ^^ No push just asking. Take you time.
There is no ETA, and I will not make any promises. Currently, the mic does not work in calls, and I will not be releasing it until that is fixed. You may check github.com/CMyst for any bugfixes/updates and once the mic is fixed, an update will be available very soon. However, unlike a previous port of CM11 that another member posted, the graphics are fluid and Wi-fi/BT works. Unfortunately, the camera does not work (almost working) and NFC seems to be broken due to some missing firmware.
It must be a lot of work for you to do by your self. But BIG BIG thank you for doing this. I hope you can release it soooon ~. Thank you again
Any progress update ?? ^^;; I hope you still working on it..

Numerous fixes have been added to the kernel. The resulting problems with camera (at least I think) and audio amp are userspace.
