Xperia Bluetooth and Wifi cannot be switched - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am facing several problems with my xperia x1 that a purchased a couple of months back, it has no warranty
1. Bluetooth
the bluetooth of the deice is not functioning and cannot be switched on, i have tried hard reset and several roms but it has not worked. when i switch on the cell and go to comm. manager it shows that bluetooth is working but when i search for devices it gives error after some time and switches off
2. Wifi
the problem is same as that of bluetooth, it is off and remains off...
3. Overheating
the device overheats during charging, takes a long time to charge.... the battery only lasts few hours... the device remain slightly heated even when it is switched off... i believe that the problem is linked to the above two problems, but once i have searched other threads, i believe others are also facing this problem but they do not seem to have problem with wifi or bluetooth
4. Cracks
the body is cracked at three places, near the camera, and the inside battery cover
used, t300, k500, k750, w880, w960 (still using) and now this one, but this seems to have a lot of problems for no reason... i have never had any problem with any of the sets that i have used before
please if anyone can help and atleast resolve the heating problem, cause the set is unusable if it has battery time of arount 6 to 7 hours.... if theres any hardware issue, can it be repaired? if not, im afraid i ve made a dead investment,

ooook NOW its X2
now i got x2, its brand new
but the video playback (youtube) isnt sharp nor smooth
what do i do/nstall to make things better
rest is great
i wish it had a more powerful processor
but HELP

[Q] Screen flickering under WiFi data transfer

Hi,
I have my sgs about 2 months and I'm very happy with it. The only problem I have is, that sometimes there are strange displayinterferences.
It looks like there are moving waves from top to down.
Does anybody have this troubles too and has a solution for it?
Or is it an hardware error? The problem is that the error isn't reproducable.
Maybe somebody can help me, please!
Thanks in advance
spyro
I think I have also noticed that once or twice. I believe it can be seen when you have the android drop down menu (notifications etc) open and you start or stop WiFi. It must be some kind of interferance with wifi hardware. Normal wifi operation does not cause it, only the startup of the WiFI which lasts one second or so.
Yeah, i think this could be true. I also see it often, when I open die Notification bar. But I also have the same interferences, when I am working in apps. Maybe also the 3G connection could be the reason? Does anybody else have this problem.
Is this a problem, which I have to life with or could this be an error of the hardware(warranty)?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753402
I have the same problem. Never on wifi tho.
Which firmware are you using?
Hi,
my firmware is I9000AUJF1(A1 branded from Austria). I don't know if the problem in your posted thread is the same. The interferences I mean only exist one or two seconds. There are horizontal dark lines which moves from top to the bottom. After some time everything is OK again. It looks like anything interfers the display(wifi, 3g?).
The problem of warranty is, that I'm not able to show the problem, because it's not reproducable.
Screen flickering under WiFi data transfer
I noticed this problem a couple of days ago.
Whenever there is some data transfer going on over WiFi, wherever I am browsing or some service syncs up the screen starts flickering and I have what I can describe as faint scan lines crossing the screen vertically like there is some sort of interference.
These are mostly noticeable on white and light grey backgrounds.
I have gone trough 2 firmware updates currently being on stock JPK rooted.
I have searched around on google and found on some forum one guy that was saying the cause is an interference between the WiFi module and the screen refresh rate.
Has anybody encountered this problem or these symptoms ?
Is there somebody around more knowledgeable in this issues that can confirm that this is a hardware problem ?
wow! , you might have a defective phone then.
I use WiFi very often, Wireless N at aprox 87 Mbps
that should be high enough to reproduce the problem you experienced, if i had a faulty screen
the description of the scan line reminds me of interference when you are in close proximity with another LCD or CRT screen causing the distortion field
OMG, I get this too. Usually happens on boot or when I'm browsing a data heavy website or using Android market. Are our phone defective? Does anyone else have this problem? I wonder how common it is.
does the scan line comes from bottom up
or goes from top to bottom?
very slowly or fast?
if you are pluged in and charging, also are you in a 120v or 240v?

They tend to be random and I'm on battery power atm. Also they're quite fast but don't last very long. They'll start then stop then start etc ..
Hi,
just for your information. I've sent my phone to samsung on friday. Maybe they find the error. I report, if there are new information.
Yep i have the same problem. Can t find the source though....
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
The lines appear from top and travel the screen fast.
Imagine a TV who for a second has problem with reception.
I am on 240 V.
Also the issue is much more noticeable when not plugged in.
If I have the phone plugged in its barely noticeable.
I will try to call the service and ask about this issue. I have a strong feeling that this is a hardware issue. But Besides the screen being defective I also think about the battery. Maybe when in high load (WiFi) it's voltage varies and affects the screen.
It seems if I uncheck Power saving mode in Settings>Display and also uncheck Automatic brightness things improve a bit.

Another issue to worry about .. God starting to think about selling this phone and getting something else. Stuck in a 2 year contract though
some one already reported this on another topic
it does seems that some version of the phone are prone to WiFi interferance
we still haven't found out what causes it exactly
for example i can not replicate the issue on my phone when using WiFi
found it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793944
Cant reproduce it.
Not that I'm unhappy with it...
If this is a hardware issue Samsung should replace my phone. I am waiting though a little bit before calling the service to make sure that it is a hardware problem.
If I find that it can easily be fixed with a software fix, it's not worth the hassle of trying to replace it.
can anyone in North America confirm this issue?
i got a huntch it might be an Europe only issue related to the high voltage of the electric interferance nearby, like lights, tv, radio, wifi, etc.

Want to buy the SP but ...

My contract is due for renewal and so far I have narrowed it down to the xperia SP , HTC One mini and S4 mini. I was almost about to order the SP but found that some people are having problems with the touchscreen not responding, and wifi quality.
Is the touchscreen issue resolved or is it a lottery if you get a good phone or bad? The sp has all the features I want but its reliability seems questionable.
I hope someone can help.
I have not encounterd the touchscreen issue but i do have wifi problems. Ibelieve that these are software issues and Sony is planning to roll out 4.3 in december...

latest firmware has fixed wifi prob IMO
Wifi quality is just horrible. Im on the newest firmware, but sony didnt fix anything.
I think, theyre not able to fix that, maybe because it could be a hardware issue.
I hope not, but we will see, when Android 4.3 comes out.
I also tried different fixes for rooted sp's, but nothin worked for me.
Im just 3 meters away from the router, but the signal is damn low.
I've had my Xperia SP for about 9 days (bought it on 2013-10-05). My experience:
Touch:
No problem at all with touch. Smooth as butter. Tested *without* a screen protector.
Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is a mixed thing...
On my dining room, it's weaker than my previous phone.
But in the bedroom, it's stronger than my previous phone.
I found that laying the phone flat on the dining table resulted in severely weakened signal; propping the phone up with, say, a cigarette pack, improves the signal considerably. This leads me to believe that the 'problem' is with the Wi-Fi antennae orientation. In the bedroom, the signal quality is great because the phone's upright relative to the ground (and therefore is roughly parallel with the Wi-Fi Router's antennae).
I haven't had a problem since I turned off 'keep wifi on during sleep' and 'location based wifi'. My issues were with authenitication, never range (which has always been excellent).
I'm think stamina mode conflicts with keep wifi on during sleep. Also, I've got an old router at home, maybe modern routers cope better with suspended wifi connections?

U are wrong. I tried the wifi range with 2 different routers. 1 at my Home, a modern one and one at my parents house, an old one.
Results were the same.
I also disabled stamina mode, but it didnt increase the wifi range/quality.

Just my experiences - most people have complained about range, but it has never been a problem for me, the range is as good, if not better than my other WiFi devices. However sometimes my phone would not connect citing 'authentication problems' many times in a row.
Princeton University is of the opinion that many android builds before 4.2 have a flaw related to 'keep wifi on during sleep' - in essence the phone holds on to the IP address leased to it for too long.
Even though I had partially resolved the connection issues with the well known tweak of the wifi parameters I still had the occasional authentication error and it sometimes took ages to get past the requesting IP address stage of connecting to a router. I haven't had these issues since turning off 'keep wifi on during sleep'. Purely anecdotal evidence and if your issue is range related not applicable.
I decided to get this phone after getting an offer I could not refuse from Tmobile retentions. I will receive the phone tomorrow and will report back once I've tested it out.
An Update:
Phone is very nice looking and fits well in the hand. Slightly smaller than Galaxy S3/S4. It's about the same width as an iphone 4S but longer. A perfect balance between the big 5" phones and the smaller 4" mini versions.
So far the touchscreen worries I had haven't materilised. I think they must have sorted that problem a while back. The wi-fi works fine but signal quality looks weak. The signal shows 2 bars(out of 3) even in the same room as the router and about 1 bar in another room furthest away.
The battery life is pretty amazing for me coming from an Xperia play. I charged it via USB connected to a pc for 7 hours so it had a full charge at 4.00pm Thursday last week. I have not connected it to a charger since then and right now (Monday, 12.47pm) it is showing 36% remaining. Thats nearly 4 days without charging and its still got probably another day to go.
At one point I checked the level before going to sleep and it was showing 92% and when I woke about 6 hours later it was still showing 92%..I reset the phone because I thought the battery meter had crashed..lol. (Note: stamina mode was ON to get this result)
I only used it for 3-5 calls per day and about 20 mins of browsing over the 4 days. Not a lot of usage but that's normal for me so am really happy.
Overall an excellent phone with a superb light bar
not great
iam using xperia sp since last month. the touch screen works great, but i want to mention that sometimes its not working smooth. i have to touch double time or have to touch some hardly. another important issue in my sp is its get overheating while playing games.
normally its not heating while browsing orusing any other application .its get heating only when playing games like deer hunter, temple run, etc. other thinks or ok.
so decide yourself.
I'm planning to buy this too, just wanted to ask, does flashing a custom Rom fix the touchscreen/WiFi issues if there are any?
for wifi issue, there's a fix posted in this forum, involving replacing the wifi config file with the config file of Xperia L, but it needs root access.
however i didn't have this issue, visually the wifi bar displays weak connection, but i don't experience dropped connections any worse than other phones.

it's supposed to heat up whilst playing games, every phone you can get does, cause it uses the GPU more and the CPU stays at higher frequencies more often. That is normal
I checked temps on mine and it doesn't get any higher than about 45 degrees C.
I recommend you root your phone and swithch to Interactive kernel

my sp is good enough...
i use sp for 1 month, never crash with bugs u tell,i think sp is a nice choice for u

A number of issues with Nexus 6

Hello all,
Had my Nexus 6 since launch day in the UK, and I started out really liking it, but it's getting more and more in my bad books as I live with it. Wonder if anyone who has one could look over this and tell me if these issues are standard with this device, or whether I need to get onto the network (Vodafone - what a pain)
Reboots - I'm getting a number of reboots. I know this can be app caused, and I'm working through. The main problem is that it requires a pin or swipe to start it booting up, so overnight if it happens, you've got yourself a dead phone till you physically get it going again in the morning
slowdown - I've got a couple of games, one is sky force, that worked well on my note 3, but suffers some terrible slowdown on the Nexus. No idea why this would happen with a better processor
not connecting to 5g on the router - my router has a 2 and 5 g aerial. It works fine on the 2 g, and every other device works on the 5g, but the nexus just will not connect.
slowness of starting up the camera - starting the camera can be 30 seconds.
Upside down display camera pics on some apps - KIK for eg? I know others with Lollipop who don't have this issue on their Sammys.
very bad battery - In use, heavy use, it'll be 3 hours. Average use, bit of messaging, a game, internet, could be 4 hours.
lack of focus on camcorder - it won't stay on a fixed
Slowness of booting up - Can be literally 5 minutes to boot to the main screen. Reminds me a bit of Windows at its worse!
I've had smartphones for many years, and I'm used to their foibles, like battery life and apps that cause reboots, but this is probably the most difficult phone I've had to live with!
I love the screen, the hugeness of it is just what I want, and the sound is great.
I'm getting the crashes, primarily when using the camera, doesn't reboot just stops, 3 times in a few minutes on more than one occasion. Sometimes won't connect to home WiFi without a restart. Start up is very slow. Don't suffer from the other issues. I'm on O2 4G.

This is actually looking a lot like it may be a software defect. For now, the best solution (i.e. temporary, until 5.1 comes out later this month) is to run the phone withOUT encryption. There are lots of threads around about the minor boot partition change needed to accomplish this.
[*]slowdown - I've got a couple of games, one is sky force, that worked well on my note 3, but suffers some terrible slowdown on the Nexus. No idea why this would happen with a better processor

Two reasons;
1) is that despite the better processor, anything I/O heavy will take a lot of CPU power to just handle the crypto. Hopefully, this is something that will be solved (hwcrypto) with 5.1.
2) android 5.0 has some major changes in the runtime -- ART vs Dalvik. If the application developer broke rules in building the software you are running, then it is possible that it won't work optimally on ART. Hopefully, the application developer can adapt.
[*]not connecting to 5g on the router - my router has a 2 and 5 g aerial. It works fine on the 2 g, and every other device works on the 5g, but the nexus just will not connect.

Works for me....?
Try a router with OpenWRT.
If I remember correctly, some of the OLDER 5G 802.11AC chips used in a lot of routers, like TPLINK Archer C7v1, which has a Qualcomm Atheros QCA9880-AR1A had hardware that was a bit rushed to market and failed to meet a number of the AC specifications. So if your router is such an AC, then the hardware that is working with it may be using 802.11N (older tech), whereas this phone is trying to negotiate an 802.11AC link with it, and failing. So there is a good chance that the problem is actually on the ROUTER's side, rather than the phone.
[*]slowness of starting up the camera - starting the camera can be 30 seconds.

There are *two* ways to deal with orientation in jpg images; one is to write the image to the file "upright", the other is to write it to the image file as it comes from the buffer, and just give it an orientation flip flag. The software you are using *may not respect* the orientation flag.
[*]very bad battery - In use, heavy use, it'll be 3 hours. Average use, bit of messaging, a game, internet, could be 4 hours.

I'm actually finding the battery to be quite phenomenal on this device. With low-moderate usage, it will actually go for TWO ENTIRE DAYS on a charge. Usually to get that kind of battery life, I have to apply very invasive controls against google services to prevent them from setting alarms and holding wakelocks.
However, if you have the screen on high brightness and actually turned on a lot, do remember, the screen is ENORMOUS. It takes power to light it up.
[*]lack of focus on camcorder - it won't stay on a fixed

I had to check that to verify, and confirm it. That appears to be a bug in the camera application. Try a different camera program for now, and hope that 5.1 fixes it.

Might be software crypto, mine isn't encrypted, and literally boots right up to the unlock screen in about 10 seconds.

Well, the SIZE is almost certainly what is causing you battery life issues. The rest of it is basically because you are running an early version of a MASSIVE system update and simultaneously riding on new hardware that brings in its own batch of *software* bugs. There are some bugs in it that need to be worked out, and hopefully, the majority get worked out with 5.1. There *are* google-private 5.1 builds for Nexus 6 already, so it is just a matter of waiting for them to complete QA and ship it out.
Thanks for this, really appreciate the time, I'll have a good look through later!
Found a fix for the 5ghz router issues on the Google forum.
Apparebtly the nexus favours the American 5g channels... So I've set it to 36 and 40 and its working well! Yey.
Tomorrow I'll try a cache wipe to see what else I can correct before the update.

Lenovo ZUK z1 is worth or not

Hi,
I have read the comments in amazon and also seen the reviews of Lenovo ZUK Z1 indian unit.
i found there are some issues like :-
-near the home button right side led light is not working properly.
-there are some heating issues in normal usage also.
-it hangs when we are in a call and there is only one way i.e. reboot of device.
-i also found comments saying that there is much difference between indian unit and other unit.
According to specs the hardware is realy good in this price segment but still some comments are saying its not worth to buy it.
Can anyone suggests wether i should go for Lenovo ZUK z1 (indian unit) or not.
I'm fairly happy with my ZUK Z1! I myself dide any of the issues you described, though I did have a major battery issue which I had to get fixed. Much more detail below;
The capacitive buttons' LED lights are just small white dots - they are a bit dim and hard to see outside (I believe that's just the way they are on the device). Regardless they do work fine - though I personally prefer on-screen buttons (navbar), which is an awesome option on Cyanogen which I do use (together with the physical home button). Phone does not feel hot to me (compared to other Android I tried - such as Sony Xperia Z3 Compact and LG G4 which did get confidently hotter). Calls work fine. I have no experience at all with the Indian version, I just had the International version with Cyanogen OS.
Now the problem I did have was that the battery my device came with was screwed up. The phone would turn off at random times and often display inaccurate battery percentages (e.g. fluctuating percentages, or phone displaying 1% for hours). It was really bad, a serious fault. Thankfully I was able to get it fixed for free thru warranty - since I bought it from a local store with 1 year warranty coverage (which was extremely useful for once). They replaced my battery for free and now it works great!
So that being said - there is indeed always a risk of getting a device with a hardware fault. Budget devices like this may be more prone to QA issues but remember that devices of any type or price occasionally have unit faults like that. Also keep in mind that people who have these issues are more likely to shout online than people who don't.
Overall though - I am quite happy with this device. It is fast and snappy, the battery life is indeed very good (lasts me a day and a half of fairly heavy usage) and I also like the fingerprint sensor (though I've had some mixed results with it. My tip is to make sure you initially scan your finger as best and fully as you can). I like the stock+ Android feel with Cyanogen OS (though Cyanogen are taking their sweet time with the Marshmallow update for this device! Though there are good custom ROMs for this device including CM13). I can recommend it.
If you can get it with warranty I say it's really a good choice, especially as a decent warranty can remove your worries. If I'd consider another device it would Xiamoi Redmi 3 Note Pro, which has similar specs but with a newer, better more efficient Snapdragon chip. There is also the ZUK Z2, but I think it's a shame that it has a smaller battery.
It's a decent phone but I wouldn't recommend it. A lot of people have problems with the home button (mine included) the fingerprint scanner doesn't work anymore. Cos has some nice features but the security patch is from last month and still no word on when we receive marshmallow.
My 2 cents, do yourself a favor, forget this phone unless it's free or very good bargain, it was promising at the start, end up as nightmare for most owners, just read some of the thread, every components has some issues, sound, GPS, home bottom, screen, battery, charging, COs patches, you name it.
Yeah, this phone turned out to be a huge disappointment. I faced issues with the original unit as well as the replacement unit. Eventually, I returned it and got myself a refund.
1. Back button led is dimmer than the menu button led. This is really annoying if you're used to the capacitive buttons. Even though it's a mid-range phone, this is not something that I'd expect because Rs.13,500 is still a good amount of money.
2. The phone has very obvious heating issues, especially near the top. Even when idle, temps refused to drop below 37-38 degrees. While charging, it was easily crossing the 50 degree mark. While running apps, it was crossing 60 degrees. My first unit became warm in my pocket for no reason at all.
3. The replacement unit that I received had vibration issues. The vibration kept turning off randomly. It used to turn back on after a few seconds.
4. Adaptive brightness is very slow. It takes a good 3-4 seconds for the ambient sensor to recognize the change in light intensity. I turned it off immediately.
5. Double tap to wake stops working after some time and you have to soft reboot the phone to get it to work again. However, I did not face this issue with the replacement unit.
6. The fingerprint sensor is not really as accurate and fast as the company claims it to be. The fact that you have to press the home button to wake the phone first adds to the time taken to unlock the phone. The fact that the home button isn't exactly soft does not help. More often than not, I had to keep my finger placed on the home button even after waking the device just to get it to recognize my fingerprint.
7. This one's a minor con but the ZUK printed below Lenovo on the back was slanted and not aligned perfectly below Lenovo. The print also appeared cheap and looked like it will come off pretty easily.
Considering the OPO has pretty much the same specs, I don't understand why the ZUK Z1 is plagued with so many issues. Also, in all the online reviews, the international version of the phone didn't seem to have all the above issues. Kinda makes me wonder if Lenovo has cut corners for the Indian launch of the phone, hence, the lower than the international version pricing.
Honestly, at this point, there's not much point in buying this phone. There are better and cheaper options available. Not to mention, some great phones will be coming out in the next couple of months, so it'd be better if you're willing to wait.

wouldnt recommend. breaking home button and missing software support and updates ... if my homebutton is broken i will swap it at amazon und buy another phone.
anybody solved the problem of failed recognition (zuk z1 = sony xperia z1). is it possible that that is the reason for google play store some apps show me that my device is not supported?

GPS issues, still haven't found a fixable solution after 9 months!

I've been having GPS issues with my Mi5 since I got it last July. Issue is simple - it takes a very long time to lock a signal, then it never stays locked for much longer after.
I've tried all sorts of gps.conf edits (including the recent Magisk fix), different ROMs (MIUI, LOS, RR), different MIUI firmwares, and still the same issue. Using GPS locker, it views about 25-30 satellites immediately, but can take a while to actually "use" any of those satellites.
The GPS works fine if I'm standing outside on the street (locks in about 15-20 seconds), but if I get in a car or on a bus, then it can take up to several minutes to lock and does not stayed locked for more than a few minutes. I was using my GPS on my bike and it worked fine, but as soon as I passed under a bridge, it lost signal.
I find this whole thing very strange and I've searched everywhere for a solution with no results. I almost seems like it's something hardware related but I have no idea what. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In fact, if anyone can find a solid solution for me, I'm willing to reward you with a gift. I'm serious - because it's so frustrating that I've even considered buying a whole new phone.
I really think it's an hardware problem my friend. GPS shouldn't even take 20 seconds to fix on a Snap 820. My cheap Huawei smartphone locks in literally 3-4 seconds (when it's slow) outside. Maybe the gps antenna on our Mi5 isn't well placed or doesn't have a good sensitivity compared to other devices. Flashed back the stock miui, didn't have an improvement so I think we can jump to a simple conclusion....
Hello vorsprungtechnik, got exactly the same issue as you describe, do you found something to fix this ?
its hardware problem. antenna doesnt enough. we had two choices. modify antenna or improve with software. my advice is try some custom rom because xda devolopers really good at this. i prefer Syberia Rom, give a chance. My gemini already have this rom and agps integration no any problem about GPS.
