Xperia Bluetooth and Wifi cannot be switched

I am facing several problems with my xperia x1 that a purchased a couple of months back, it has no warranty
1. Bluetooth
the bluetooth of the deice is not functioning and cannot be switched on, i have tried hard reset and several roms but it has not worked. when i switch on the cell and go to comm. manager it shows that bluetooth is working but when i search for devices it gives error after some time and switches off
2. Wifi
the problem is same as that of bluetooth, it is off and remains off...
3. Overheating
the device overheats during charging, takes a long time to charge.... the battery only lasts few hours... the device remain slightly heated even when it is switched off... i believe that the problem is linked to the above two problems, but once i have searched other threads, i believe others are also facing this problem but they do not seem to have problem with wifi or bluetooth
4. Cracks
the body is cracked at three places, near the camera, and the inside battery cover
used, t300, k500, k750, w880, w960 (still using) and now this one, but this seems to have a lot of problems for no reason... i have never had any problem with any of the sets that i have used before
please if anyone can help and atleast resolve the heating problem, cause the set is unusable if it has battery time of arount 6 to 7 hours.... if theres any hardware issue, can it be repaired? if not, im afraid i ve made a dead investment,

[Q] Screen flickering under WiFi data transfer

Hi,
I have my sgs about 2 months and I'm very happy with it. The only problem I have is, that sometimes there are strange displayinterferences.
It looks like there are moving waves from top to down.
Does anybody have this troubles too and has a solution for it?
Or is it an hardware error? The problem is that the error isn't reproducable.
Maybe somebody can help me, please!

I think I have also noticed that once or twice. I believe it can be seen when you have the android drop down menu (notifications etc) open and you start or stop WiFi. It must be some kind of interferance with wifi hardware. Normal wifi operation does not cause it, only the startup of the WiFI which lasts one second or so.

Yeah, i think this could be true. I also see it often, when I open die Notification bar. But I also have the same interferences, when I am working in apps. Maybe also the 3G connection could be the reason? Does anybody else have this problem.
Is this a problem, which I have to life with or could this be an error of the hardware(warranty)?

my firmware is I9000AUJF1(A1 branded from Austria). I don't know if the problem in your posted thread is the same. The interferences I mean only exist one or two seconds. There are horizontal dark lines which moves from top to the bottom. After some time everything is OK again. It looks like anything interfers the display(wifi, 3g?).
The problem of warranty is, that I'm not able to show the problem, because it's not reproducable.

Screen flickering under WiFi data transfer
I noticed this problem a couple of days ago.
Whenever there is some data transfer going on over WiFi, wherever I am browsing or some service syncs up the screen starts flickering and I have what I can describe as faint scan lines crossing the screen vertically like there is some sort of interference.
These are mostly noticeable on white and light grey backgrounds.
I have gone trough 2 firmware updates currently being on stock JPK rooted.
I have searched around on google and found on some forum one guy that was saying the cause is an interference between the WiFi module and the screen refresh rate.
Has anybody encountered this problem or these symptoms ?
Is there somebody around more knowledgeable in this issues that can confirm that this is a hardware problem ?

wow! , you might have a defective phone then.
I use WiFi very often, Wireless N at aprox 87 Mbps
that should be high enough to reproduce the problem you experienced, if i had a faulty screen
the description of the scan line reminds me of interference when you are in close proximity with another LCD or CRT screen causing the distortion field

OMG, I get this too. Usually happens on boot or when I'm browsing a data heavy website or using Android market. Are our phone defective? Does anyone else have this problem? I wonder how common it is.

They tend to be random and I'm on battery power atm. Also they're quite fast but don't last very long. They'll start then stop then start etc ..

Imagine a TV who for a second has problem with reception.
I am on 240 V.
Also the issue is much more noticeable when not plugged in.
If I have the phone plugged in its barely noticeable.
I will try to call the service and ask about this issue. I have a strong feeling that this is a hardware issue. But Besides the screen being defective I also think about the battery. Maybe when in high load (WiFi) it's voltage varies and affects the screen.

It seems if I uncheck Power saving mode in Settings>Display and also uncheck Automatic brightness things improve a bit.

Another issue to worry about .. God starting to think about selling this phone and getting something else. Stuck in a 2 year contract though

some one already reported this on another topic
it does seems that some version of the phone are prone to WiFi interferance
we still haven't found out what causes it exactly
for example i can not replicate the issue on my phone when using WiFi

Not that I'm unhappy with it...

If this is a hardware issue Samsung should replace my phone. I am waiting though a little bit before calling the service to make sure that it is a hardware problem.
If I find that it can easily be fixed with a software fix, it's not worth the hassle of trying to replace it.

i got a huntch it might be an Europe only issue related to the high voltage of the electric interferance nearby, like lights, tv, radio, wifi, etc.

Common Issues with Z3C

Please mention all the common issues found in this device (both Hardware and Software level)
So far I have gathered one issue mainly
- The USB/SD Card flap gets loosen or does not properly close.

Some units may have excessive gap between the glass and the frame, either top or bottom.

Because of this mine is on the way back to Vodafone [emoji22]

Mine has a dead pixel. But these arent common issues unless a lot of people complain about them tbh.

Was the dead pixel noticeable from the very first day?

Ive got two things where im not sure if that are real Problems or just a question of settings.
First one is that voice from the other part is not really loud, even on the highest setting, during a phone call.
The other one is the battery time. I dont get such high results like 2 days from the tests on different websites. I only got one day with moderate usage.

No second day, first day I probably didnt notice. Nor do I now to be honest... was hesitating about sending it back but ehh... its so much hassle and like I said I can hardly tell its dead.

I have returned mine to o2 within the initial cooling off period, there's too many problems to risk sorry. I loved the spec and design too

Did you experience any problems or did you just bottle it? I've had mine for a week or so with no problems at all.

I'd assume that more than 90% of units have no major issues. The misleading thing is that, in communities like these, people with faulty units are far more represented than people who are satisfied.

Honestly, I didn't really use it,it kept all the plastic films on etc. It's not that I'm not going to get one if it proves reliable more that I'm quite unlucky with phones generally!
I will keep looking in here tho and will likely getting a red/orange one again in a few weeks....

I suggest you just get a silicone cover or something, to protect it. A wrist lanyard also helps a lot. And to increase your chance of getting a Z3C from a more recent production batch, you can keep an eye on a web shop and order a Z3C after the stock runs out and is restocked.

Camera Button
Is the Z3c hardware camera button designed to require a fairly lengthy press to activate? I'm guessing that maybe it's a design built in to perhaps avoid accidental pocket presses, but I'm not sure.
Just a quick tap does not activate it on mine, but it works fine with a slightly longer press.

Mine too, also there seems to be a 2-step press for it, as on a regular camera (half hold down to focus). Half pressing doesn't start it.
Have had to mess with settings to turn off the quick launch which was set to launch and capture as I have so many pics of either a finger or blackness!

On mine the sound is pretty loud through the mic, so much so that I thought the loudspeaker was on! Conversely though the actual loudspeaker doesn't seem that loud! Go figure!
For the battery I think you would only get 2 days with the Stamina settings active. I manage to get down to about 25% on a full day of regular usage (in office etc). The Stamina / Ultra stamina modes seem to just disable pretty much everything on the phone. OK if you need to keep it powered on but no good for regular usage. I've ended up turning stamina mode on and then re-enabling Wifi, seems to improve life quite a bit for the times I have been hammering it!

Always been the case since the Treo days, lol. People will look and see all these problems, but they are random people, that really only for the most part show up here to resolve "issues". While it is a great thing for folks looking for corrections, it does appear bad on the surface if you don't really understand the dynamic at play on boards like these.

Yes. Your button is behaving normally.

I'm currently on my third unit within 7 days. My Internet connection seems to hang about 2 or 3 times a day, and until I try to use the Internet Is don't realise. After then restarting my phone, I get a flood of whatsapps, emails and fb alerts. It's getting really old really quickly,to the point where I just want rid of the phone.

I've only had that once, last Fri however it is a bit weird, here's how mine manifested itself:
- Work most of the day in an office, good wifi connection. Don't use the phone much but see that it is working OK, getting emails, fb updates etc. Can browse the internet via Chrome
- Left the office and try to do a search. Using Google search from the home screen the results showed up very quickly but then when I tried to open any of those links in chrome it would just say no network or something similar. Tried shutting down chrome, clearing cache and data but made no difference.
The weird thing here is that the 4g / mobile data connection WAS working, but the issue was with Chrome.
I'm still stock, not likely to change that but since Chrome is now an intrinsic part of the Xperia build how do you uninstall / reinstall? Or do I end up installing another browser?

Chrome has done this to me on Z3 Compact and a few times on my previous Xperia ZR. Just close the browser from the multi-app right button by flicking it to the side, then try again. If it gets too tedious, install another browser.

Hi, any one have the same issue as me?
My Z3C black out after 2nd week of use then could not power on. Brought to service center and the person claim that it is software issue.. Took back the phone after they reformatted, then after 12hrs use, same problem again.. Then they change 1-1 for me.. but after another week of use, same issue on the 2nd phone!
who have the same issue as me? what should i do next? i cant be bringing the phone in to service center every week..

I think it's the same pb for me... "Z3 Compact" bought the 28.09.2014. The phone is turned off itself in the middle of the day in my pocket. The battery level was approx. 75% => Black screen, not even light on the charger...:S The Sony support told me to send them with charger and usb cable. I am waiting for news... approx. 10 days...

A number of issues with Nexus 6

Had my Nexus 6 since launch day in the UK, and I started out really liking it, but it's getting more and more in my bad books as I live with it. Wonder if anyone who has one could look over this and tell me if these issues are standard with this device, or whether I need to get onto the network (Vodafone - what a pain)
Reboots - I'm getting a number of reboots. I know this can be app caused, and I'm working through. The main problem is that it requires a pin or swipe to start it booting up, so overnight if it happens, you've got yourself a dead phone till you physically get it going again in the morning
slowdown - I've got a couple of games, one is sky force, that worked well on my note 3, but suffers some terrible slowdown on the Nexus. No idea why this would happen with a better processor
not connecting to 5g on the router - my router has a 2 and 5 g aerial. It works fine on the 2 g, and every other device works on the 5g, but the nexus just will not connect.
slowness of starting up the camera - starting the camera can be 30 seconds.
Upside down display camera pics on some apps - KIK for eg? I know others with Lollipop who don't have this issue on their Sammys.
very bad battery - In use, heavy use, it'll be 3 hours. Average use, bit of messaging, a game, internet, could be 4 hours.
lack of focus on camcorder - it won't stay on a fixed
Slowness of booting up - Can be literally 5 minutes to boot to the main screen. Reminds me a bit of Windows at its worse!
I've had smartphones for many years, and I'm used to their foibles, like battery life and apps that cause reboots, but this is probably the most difficult phone I've had to live with!
I love the screen, the hugeness of it is just what I want, and the sound is great.

I'm getting the crashes, primarily when using the camera, doesn't reboot just stops, 3 times in a few minutes on more than one occasion. Sometimes won't connect to home WiFi without a restart. Start up is very slow. Don't suffer from the other issues. I'm on O2 4G.

could be a faulty phone or rom ... I've had mine for a month now and no problems so far and great battery life

This is actually looking a lot like it may be a software defect. For now, the best solution (i.e. temporary, until 5.1 comes out later this month) is to run the phone withOUT encryption. There are lots of threads around about the minor boot partition change needed to accomplish this.

Two reasons;
1) is that despite the better processor, anything I/O heavy will take a lot of CPU power to just handle the crypto. Hopefully, this is something that will be solved (hwcrypto) with 5.1.
2) android 5.0 has some major changes in the runtime -- ART vs Dalvik. If the application developer broke rules in building the software you are running, then it is possible that it won't work optimally on ART. Hopefully, the application developer can adapt.

Try a router with OpenWRT.
If I remember correctly, some of the OLDER 5G 802.11AC chips used in a lot of routers, like TPLINK Archer C7v1, which has a Qualcomm Atheros QCA9880-AR1A had hardware that was a bit rushed to market and failed to meet a number of the AC specifications. So if your router is such an AC, then the hardware that is working with it may be using 802.11N (older tech), whereas this phone is trying to negotiate an 802.11AC link with it, and failing. So there is a good chance that the problem is actually on the ROUTER's side, rather than the phone.

There are *two* ways to deal with orientation in jpg images; one is to write the image to the file "upright", the other is to write it to the image file as it comes from the buffer, and just give it an orientation flip flag. The software you are using *may not respect* the orientation flag.

I'm actually finding the battery to be quite phenomenal on this device. With low-moderate usage, it will actually go for TWO ENTIRE DAYS on a charge. Usually to get that kind of battery life, I have to apply very invasive controls against google services to prevent them from setting alarms and holding wakelocks.
However, if you have the screen on high brightness and actually turned on a lot, do remember, the screen is ENORMOUS. It takes power to light it up.

I had to check that to verify, and confirm it. That appears to be a bug in the camera application. Try a different camera program for now, and hope that 5.1 fixes it.

Might be software crypto, mine isn't encrypted, and literally boots right up to the unlock screen in about 10 seconds.
I've had smartphones for many years, and I'm used to their foibles, like battery life and apps that cause reboots, but this is probably the most difficult phone I've had to live with!

Well, the SIZE is almost certainly what is causing you battery life issues. The rest of it is basically because you are running an early version of a MASSIVE system update and simultaneously riding on new hardware that brings in its own batch of *software* bugs. There are some bugs in it that need to be worked out, and hopefully, the majority get worked out with 5.1. There *are* google-private 5.1 builds for Nexus 6 already, so it is just a matter of waiting for them to complete QA and ship it out.

Found a fix for the 5ghz router issues on the Google forum.
Apparebtly the nexus favours the American 5g channels... So I've set it to 36 and 40 and its working well! Yey.
Tomorrow I'll try a cache wipe to see what else I can correct before the update.

Anyone having GPS issues?

I have a Note 9 on Sprint, and everytime I go to use Waze, or Gmaps, I do not get a GPS lock. Restarting the phone fixes it, but by the next day, the issue crops up again. Anyone else seeing this?

I too have issues GPS, my. device is constantly loosing its fix. It aquires 20+ Sats very fast, then fix within a few seconds (what is absolutely fine), but a few seconds later it loses the fix for a few moments, fix again, lose again, and this then goes on forever...
I now have the device (512 black Exynos ATO) since a week, but I started to observe this behavior since today!
How is the GPS performance of other users?

Had it happen again today. Went to use Waze, and it would not lock on. Installed GPS Test, and it shows no sats, nothing. Restarting the phone does fix it, but it's a pain. May have to contact Samsung/Sprint.

Done a bit of geocaching and it was spot on the whole time. Also used at work , both trouble. US unlocked 512gb

I had similar issues but it turns out the location method is always set to "phone only", changing back to "high accuracy" fixes it.

GPS signal is lost in Goolge Maps after update N960FXXU2ARJ1
I have a Note 9 since a few weeks now and it worked perfectly until I installed the latest update (N960FXXU2ARJ1), the one with the fix for the photo quality.
Now when i'm using Google Maps or Waze in my car with Android Auto my GPS loses fix. Google Maps constantly says that the GPS signal is lost.
GPS Status or GPS Essentials show 10 to 15 satellites in seconds with a GPS fix. So GPS seems to work fine. Only when driving the signal is lost.
Maybe there's a bug in the update?

Note 9 on ATT, sporadically it will ask me to turn on high accuracy setting and submit random anonymous data, but it keeps asking me, even when I haven't turned the GPS on. When I hit accept it turns the GPS on, I assume it's the weather widget or something like that needing a location.
My actual issue is I already hit accept and don't want to keep hitting accept and on top of that it will sometimes default to battery saver GPS which is useless.
I dont know how to keep it at either high accuracy or phone only when I go to turn on GPS.

Still having the issue....happened yesterday.

No issues here so far. I'm inside my apartment on the third floor, so sandwiched between apartments. I turned off WiFi to make sure it wasn't using my router. Opened Google Maps and it immediately locked on to me. Right down to what room I'm in.

I still don't know why my gps keeps trying to randomly turn on and asks me to accept or deny, regardless what I choose my GPS turns on without me turning it on.

Looking for this problem in another forums I've discovered that the problem is related with Power Saving Mode in Samsung phones.
Yesterday I disabled the power saving mode and it worked flawlessly through Android Auto, even with the phone at the glove box I had a consistent and precise GPS fix.

Of course, you can verify. Install GPS Test (or any other GPS app from Store) on two or more phones of yours (including the Note 9, duh) and see the results.
Inside your house, outside, in a car.

Only Notebookcheck (from what I saw) features GPS reviews, and they don't check all phones.
My experience. (from the phones I tried, owned, had. DB = Dual-Band GPS.)
Note 4: 5/5 || Always worked superb.
Note 9: 3.75/5 || Bit better signal than the 7 Pro, but puts you off by a street or two in the car. It's nothing good/great.
OnePlus 6T: 2/5 || Horrible. Even on a plain street has difficulties.
OnePlus 7 Pro [DB]: 3.5/5 || Not bad, not good. Has trouble finding you in the streets. Works OK until you enter a place with various roads (like an interchange).
HTC 10: 4.5/5 || Good. Stable, solid. Works great really.
Huawei Mate 10 Pro: 5/5 || Perfect.
Huawei P10 Plus: 4/5 || Had some trouble on foot, but okay-ish.
From what I saw, learned:
- Dual-band does NOT matter. If the module is bad, signal will be bad.
- Car glass can block out a good deal of the signal. Heated glass, heat-reflective glass. Ford, for example, uses both on cars. Does not mean it will like reduce signal by a LOT, but will make it worse.
- Phone cases matter. Even thicc plastic cases can reduce signal.
From what I read lately... the following high-end phones have good GPS modules.
- Pixel 3a: Good, thought not flagship SOC/internals/ram/storage. Only 1 camera.
- Huawei Mate 20 Pro: Great phone, albeit bit dated by now. Huawei updates are erratic, support/warranty is horrible. I had huge fights with them, since my family had 4 flagship Huawei devices. Court was always there, legal actions, threats. It's insanely bad. And now they have the Google problem (US vs China), and the phone is 100% locked down, no unlock possible. Unless you buy at external shops - but then you can't get warranty on them.
- Samsung A70: The horrible in-screen fingerprint reader ruins this otherwise perfectly great device.
