Extremely slow market after Froyo update - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Am I the only one experiencing this? It's frustrating searching for anything cause it takes soo long!

That's odd, mine works perfectly fine and everything is just smoother.

I have noticed a little lag actually, mainly when opening an apps page... Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Mine was lagging on the first day. Been fast today though. I think it's just their Market database refreshing the caches located worldwide to include 2.2 in the filter rules. (The rules that determine whether an app shows up in your device)

Yeah, I just checked and I think it was just a temporary thing, things seem to be up to par now.

I was having the same problem...
Fixed by going to settings->privacy then unchecking both checkboxes (first the second the the first, as just the first didn't fix it for me)..
I think it's that it's trying to restore an app no longer available and that's what's using all the resources?

works!

Can you be more specific when you say updated radio. the froyo updatw till put you on 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7 - so I assume you mean downgrading the radio rather than updating? Or did you reflash the new radio version afetr flashing froyo. This info could be useful to many experiencing problems with froyo

Confirmed this works. Just disable restore automatically.

Hmm my market is still unbearbly slow. I have just given up using it now until official froyo is out. No great loss as it means I don't have to wade through the masses of chinese girl porn in there.

Could be that your 3G is using background data, so it has no bandwidth left for other downloads.
Disable your Background data : Settings -> Accounts and sync -> Turn off Background Data and Auto-Sync
Can you browse the web on 3G ? What about using another gmail account ?
i can use Android Market in both 3G and WiFi
are you able to browse the web when only using WiFi ?

Maybe ur over the download limit. Some providers have limits to how much you can download. So i think you should check ur provider

You could try settings/applications/manage/download manager and delete data that has worked for some people but not 4 me lol. i think it has something to do with settings that go messed up by an app

Thank goodness I found this thread!! I've been going completely mad for a couple of days. I've re-flashed the damned phone 100 times, formatted the SD, repartitioned, cleared the cache, I've tried another google account etc etc. I'm with Optus too and it started happening when my JPC firmware started acting up yesterday. I decided to try JPH and I couldn't download any APPs. Currently I'm not near my WIFI so I'm not sure if that works but I'll check it out soon.
I even went all the way back to the Optus branded firmware JG4 to see if that works and that was dead too.
If it's some kind of Optus thing, I'm OK knowing it's not something with my phone. Hopefully they will fix it soon.
This is fk. Had same problem with Optus. Tried everything with no luck. Gonna ring Optus today.

I certainly hope you didn't disable the entire firewall, instead merely opened up the specific port(s) required by the market?
If the latter, could you share the port numbers, please? Thx!

[APP] Market v 2.2.10 update .apk

Here's a copy of android market 2.2.10. Installed w/o a hitch on my phone, but be patient during install as it takes a minute.
EDIT: Though at first glance this seemed to work fine, some of my app links have gotten messed up from this. Use with caution. I'll try an update.zip version and see if that makes a difference. (No FCs for me and runs fine. No noticeable difference from 2.2.7)
For now, this is in my dropbox at http://db.tt/lWIF1OF

WeatherBug Issues

I was just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue as I am with weatherbug. It seems as if it no longer is updating and the specified intervals and you have to go in the app and manually refresh it. Anyone else having this issue and if you are have you found any solution to it?
Same problem, no response from developers...
Sad situation, nothing we can do but complain.
Mind started randomly doing this after the last update too.
Most of the time it works properly, but some times I will check it and it hasn't updated for a day. It's weird because the thing used to be flawless.
I was also having this issue randomly not updating I unistalled it
Were you guys trying both accuweather and google? I know google isn't as reliable as accuweather with this app.

Its not the weather, its The app that is not updating. The support contacted me and told me to check if any task killers are killing the app and if that doesn't work to reinstall. Well I don't use a task killer and reinstalation doesn't work. I've also noticed that if the phone is asleep for a long time with no network activity it doesn't update but if your using the phone it does update on its own

Could be gingy. I know that for example the Sony Ericsson LiveView cannot connect via BT to it as of now, so it would not surprise me. Have you notified the dev if their app is indeed gingerbread compatible?
I recall that when Froyo went live or ROM flashable for me, lol...Weatherbug had similar issues until they updated the apk.

Make sure you didn't move the WeatherBug app to SD Card (via Froyo method, a2ext should be fine) because that will kill the service quickly.

how to update to new marketplace using cm7 rc1

I can't seem to find a thread detailing how to do this..
Doesn't it just come with the tiny gapps that you're supposed to flash alongside cm?
Or is there a newer market that I am unaware about?
The one that comes with cm7 rc1 nightly 3 is 2.2.11
It happens by itself.
Since installing cm7 the normal marketplace doesn't work

This.
There seem to be a lot of small screwy things related to the google applications on Gingerbread-based ROMs. Best shot for getting everything working correctly is to do a full wipe and reflash. I know I had to do that to get GTalk working.
What about the not so easy answer?

Let me know if you figure one out. I spent about two weeks trying all sorts of off-the-wall stuff to get around having to wipe to get GTalk to work. As soon as I wiped (as I should have in the first place) it worked without a hitch.
It should auto update, at least for me it did.
If not go here

I flashed CM7 RC1 and I automatically got updated to 2.3.2.
Just give it time. It'll happen. Market updates by itself without user intervention.

suggests to me that it will not auto-update in the OP's case.

Tapatalk apps on Nookie Froyo

I'm trying out Nookie Froyo now. A lot of apps seem to run very well, but Tapatalk apps such as XDA and Howard Forums are very crashy. On stock rooted, both apps forget my password but are otherwise functional. On Nookie Froyo, I can get as far as viewing my list of threads, but it force closes every time I try to open one of those threads. Any thoughts?
That is strange. I also had the issue with the Stock Root being unable to save the password for tapatalk, but since I've gone to the HC and the Froyo builds, I have not had that issue.
Nor have I had the issue of crashing on opening of threads.
I have had a couple of randamn crashes while using the program, that has been less than 1% of my interactions with the program and I have joined over a dozen forums that support the program.
Have you tried a fresh install?

The normal tapatalk paid app works fine for me on froyo and cm7.
You can try fixing permission in cwm to see if that helps.

Hmm okay, I don't have the paid Tapatalk app so I haven't tried that. These are just the branded Tapatalk-based apps.
I did a permission-fixing run, didn't seem to help.
Okay I took the plunge and bought the paid Tapatalk app. It does work much better on Nookie Froyo than the branded XDA or HoFo apps and it hasn't forgotten any of my info so far. I think the branded apps must be an earlier software build or something like that.

One concern I have is how many forums work with tapatalk. I just don't want to pay for an app that I will use on one or two sites. Especially when they have a free option. How much better is the paid app?

Well I'm using it on 3 sites already - XDA, HowardForums, CyanogenMod - and on two devices (Nook, Nexus One). So already it's getting well-used. Also my N1 is suffering from limited internal memory, and dumping two apps for one is always a bonus.
As for how much better it is - all I can say is that both the HoFo and XDA apps crash frequently and forget passwords on Nookie Froyo. The paid Tapatalk app appears to be completely stable on the above-mentioned forums. An additional perk I've noticed is that any forums I set as favourites on the paid app will sync to my User CP on the web forums. This was not apparently the case with the co-branded apps.
And finally, after an evening in which I bought a $3 pastry on an impulse, I decided I would not suffer unduly to purchase a $3 app.
