When I plug my phone into my computer with my USB cable it is not recognized. I have tried multiple computers to see if it might have been the computer, but this did not fix the issue. I also tried a friend's Hero with my computer and his connected fine...so it must be my phone.
I have also checked to make sure that Disk Drive is the default option when plugged in via USB.
I have also made sure that USB Debugging is on.
I have restored to a stable Nand backup with still no luck.
I am on Fresh 2.1.1 with the latest Sprint radio.
Any help would be much appreciated!

I have previously used my Galaxy S with Kies and Odin. Had some mtp / USB problems previously which I sorted out.
At the moment, if I plug the USB cable into my phone, it only charges. I have searched the forums here and followed the answers such as; uninstalling kies and usb drivers and cleaning the registry etc...
I have also unmounted and removed the external sd card and reformatted the internal sd card. I have the latest version of Kies. Windows 7 simply doesn't notice the phone being plugged in. It doesn't even say unrecognised device. Just does nothing
Any help would be appreciated.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate and my phone is running a froyo ROM that i got on XDA. I think it is JPK but not certain.
I know you have seen a number of similar threads, however I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thank you.
Edit: I also did a factory reset.
Edit: I uninstalled windows media player 12. I can now connect only in mass storage mode. Kies mode gives error "USB Device Not Recognised".
Hi, I got a problem with the usb cable...
Tried all usb ports, tried with other computers... nothing helps.
The computer detect the nexus one, no problems.
When I Turn On the usb storage its recognize the SD card, and I can get into the SD, also I can delete files but when I'm trying to copy files (to SD) seems like its start copying the files but then stops and its get out from the usb mass storage mode.
I tried this also:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=613217
Also, tried to uninstall the drivers with USBDeview [http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html], and install again with the new drivers...
also reset the computer / nexus one ...
still same problem...
any suggestions ?
The problem might be with the cable ?
I tried it also with at least 4 other PCs, none of them detect the nexus via this usb cable, except of 1 that had the problem above.
I had the same problem as you with CM7, are you using Cm7 or any other custom rom?
If i put the phone in airplane mode the transfer was always succesfull and didn't get out the usb storage mode. Then i disabled it and tried it again and failed sometimes. I noticed that everytime it failed i got a message (notification) so i found out that the problem was in the notification. so when the app is on sd and android wants access to the app it will disable the storage mode en grant access to the sd.
This only happend on custom roms, after flashing stock rom everything was fine again.
If you have the same symptoms as me you can try to transfer a file in airplane mode and maybe, if you on custom rom, try a stock rom.
Hope this will help, goodluck
Thanks for answer mate.
I'm with Geo rom, I tried the Airplane mode but nothing change..anyway, I also tried 2 usb cables of friends who have Galaxy S, and it both works just fine!
Seems like the problem is with the cable, so I order 2 new cables.
Thanks again for the help!
Hello guys,
I had CM7 running for a while because of its stability. However, I have used CM9 as well for a long time on my P990. Today, I was planning to revert back to CM9 and connected the phone to the computer but the internal memory nor the memory card shows up in my computer. I tried two different laptops and also reflashed cm7 which was already present in my memory card. Still no luck.
When I connect the phone, I get the bell, alert or whatever you want to call it from windows that it has detected that a usb device has connected. Though nothing shows up in my computer. USB Debugging is switched on. And I also press the notification on the phone which should allow me to transfer files between phone and computer.
Im out of ideas, please help.
Re-install the LG USB drivers, found here in the developers section.
I had the same problem when I flashed my phone and everytime I changed roms, I would have to install the drivers again.

Click to collapse
And if reinstalling the drivers does not help for whatever reason, and if all that you're trying to do is to push the CM9 rom files from your PC to the SD on your phone, then try following the tip from XDA-TV using SSHDroid. It worked well for me.

The example in the video is with a Ubuntu machine, but you can follow the same steps for using PC with Putty and WinSCP.
And I haven't tried this, but another alternative is using adbwireless available through Play:

Everything was normal till yesterday ,i mean when i connected my phone to pc by usb cable it used to ask if i want to charge or connect in mass storage mode
But today when i connected my phone it didn't gave any notification and just kept charging
i have tried changing the usb ports
tried re-installing the drivers
checking and unchecking usb debugging mode but still it doesn't work
any help will be appreciated :good:
First thing to do would be so to Settings > SD card and phone storage settings and try having mass storage only selected.
If you have rooted ur phone u can try mounting USB storage from the advanced menu of CWM in order to see whether it is a hardware based issue or an issue isolated to the ROM.
If you have the android sdk installed, check whether ur PC acknowledges that the phone is connected to the USB port by typing "adb devices" in cmd. This will tell you whether the PC actually knows that there is something plugged in.
Final thing to do would be backup in CWM and reflash stock ROM then revert to backup.
Some time ago I dropped and broke my Samsung Galaxy S, I've since gotten a replacement but there are still some files on the internal SD that I want to recover. I should be able to do this with ADB - but USB debugging doesn't seem to be enabled on device.
I thought entering recovery enables this - but I'm basing this on my cyanogenmod 10 install on my working device, whilst I should have stock 2.3.6 installed on the broken one (this rom specifically).
I believe I have the stock SGS recovery, but I can't say for sure.
Anyone have any clue on what I could do to get usb debugging working either in the OS or in recovery?
depending on what CWM you have installed you can go in mount and storage and there mount USB storage....then it connects the internal SDcard to your pc.
On my windows pc, sometimes the internal sd card mounts to pc only with connecting the phone to it. I am not sure anymore under what circumstances i got this working. Perhaps it was in download mode or in recovery mode....also could be that this was when i only short press the power button when phone is down but USB connected.....and if i remember right it depended also on which driver were installed and that sure kies is not running....but perhaps you give it a try?
