Help! Froyo -> CM5071 - Market app crashes when download - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HELP HELP! yesterday, i fall back from Froyo to cm5.0.7.1 also rolled back radio to 4.04 (EPE54B). but this morning i found that when i start download and install an app from mkt, the android mkt app crashes
The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Pls try again. (Force close)
pls help =<
alogcat:
E/DatabaseUtils(290): Writing exception to parcel
E/DatabaseUtils(290): java.lang.SecurityException: Permission Denial: writing com.android.providers.download.DowbloadProvider uri content://downloads/download from pid=1115, uid=10046 requires android.permission.ACCESS_DOWNLOAD_MANAGER

i think i found the thread to my question... will try it now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687578

i have already sorted out my problem by trying out almost all combinations to replicate the problem. just thot if anyone has the same problem, below is my solution
for me... it is nothing to do with the link abv. my conclusion is that, whenever i use "my backup pro" with root access mode, it will somehow mess up the vending.apk which crashes the mkt app. after many tries, i found that if i use my backup pro, it is a must for me not to use "grant root access" for my backup pro then everything will be fine...

Stupid Error popping - phone works tho. HELP

I had cyanogen 4.1.9999 and was having fun,
I discovered that Chomp sms under "tools" settings had a "install voice data," so that it can read your sms. I wanted to see how the phone read the sms messages, so I decided to install "voice data/speech" from the Market.
Now every 5 or so seconds I get an error that says "The application Touch Input (process com.htc.android.htcime) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I think it was the installment of that application "speech" because I never got that error before.
I tried to remove it by going to tools/apps.. and market but uninstall button is disabled.
I upgraded to cyanongen 4.2.2 to try to fix the problem, but it still comes up.
How can I fix it? it is EXTREMELY ANNOYINGc

FC in Market

Just tried CM 5.0.5.3. All is well so far after wiping.
However, when I try to download apps from the market I'm getting market FC's preventing me from downloading. I've tried clearing the cache but nada.
To be more specific "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly.
Any ideas...
It seem you are not the first to have the issue. I take it you have Amon_Ra recovery. I tend to think the 1.7.0 is the one that people have when they see it. I don't have a answer just commenting.
Yup, exactly.
I think it may also have something to do with MyBackupPro. Once I restore apps+data, then I get the FC's.
try fix permission

That did it. Plus I had to reboot afterwards. It also solved FC's I was getting on ATK notepad and my PS3 Friends app not working correctly.
Thanks guy!

[Q] The stock messaging app crashing

I noticed a couple of days ago that people claimed to have sent me messages (sms), but I had not noticed. Turns out that when I try to launch the Messaging application, it pops up "Sorry! The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I have no idea really when this started happening.
So I installed GO SMS, and it works fine, but still - whenever I get an sms, up pops the above error and it stays there for a while before disappearing. I wanted to find out what was going on, so I used adb to log what's going on when the Messaging app is launched. The log is attached.
The interesting lines, as I can see it are:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to create application com.android.mms.MmsApp: android.view.InflateException: Binary XML file line #230: Error inflating class com.lge.mms.wapservice.WapServiceMessageCheckBoxPreference
and
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.lge.mms.wapservice.WapServiceMessageCheckBoxPreference in loader dalvik.system.PathClassLoader[/system/app/Mms.apk]
So I now wonder if there's something wrong with /system/app/Mms.apk, it looks like this using adb shell...
$ adb shell ls -l /system/app/Mms.apk
-rw-r--r-- root root 1722767 2011-04-16 09:01 Mms.apk
Any hints on how to get the Messaging app running again?
PS - GO SMS let me backup my old SMSes, but how do I recover them?
do you use the stock rom ?
do you have rooted your phone?
do you have root explorer?
Try repairing permissions from the latest clockwork recovery
Stock ROM yes, not rooted.
Clockwork recovery? Will look that up.
I ended up doing a factory reset, and now everything is fine.

[Q] ROCKET-v22-LA4-eybee1970 and Google Maps installation problem

Hello all,
I am now facing the installation problem on Google Maps after my Galaxy Note has been installed "ROCKET-v22-LA4-eybee1970". After I found the Google Maps could not be updated, I have been uninstalled it by using the Titanium backup "free version". Then, I go back to the Market and try to re-install it. Despite many attempts, installation failed with the same box appeared to tell me [Error - Unknown error code during application installation:"-8" ].
Please tell me what to do?
With so many thanks.
I had the same problem. I guess I forgot to convert the Map to "user app" before I deleted it with Titanium backup. (To convert to and from user/system app in TB, long press the Map application and choose convert to user app or vice versa)
When I forgot the above routine and got the same error as you, downloaded http://www.mediafire.com/?qx0x8bu3oag9u0b and installed it. Then converted to system app. Now version 6.3 was updated without any problems through the market as well!
Thanks. It's really worked. With many many thanks.

[Q] Deleted Download Manager.

Hi everyone!
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace which was running out of memory. I had tried to uninstall some unused applications and move others to the SD card. Still needing space because the low space message kept appearing, I rooted my phone and uninstalled some applications such as the Samsung app store and something called Download Manager.
Now, I figure I shouldn't have uninstalled Download Manager because it was required by Google Play. When I attempt to start Google Play, it closes within a second and gives the error message:
"Sorry. The application Google Play Store (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
After some online research, I tried cleaning the application's data and cache, even uninstalling updates, but to no avail, still get the same message. I read somewhere online that the cause might be the missing Download Manager.
Without resetting my phone to factory settings, is there any way I can reinstall Download Manager onto my phone? Unfortunately I did not create any backups before deleting Download Manager.
Thanks very much!
Appreciate any help offered!

You don't need to do a factory reset (btw a factory reset wouldn't even help ). Just download your rom again and extract the Download Manager.apk and place it under /system/apps/(here) and give the permissioms rwrr. Done!
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
Blackbox421, thank you very much for your reply! Yes I had a feeling that a factory reset wouldn't solve my problem because the file no longer exists on the handset. Stupid question, but where can I download my ROM from? I'd bought the handset with 2.3.3, and never changed that. Is extracting the Download Manager.apk file difficult too? Do I need special software?
Thanks very much. Appreciate your time!
