Installation unsuccessful - Cyanogen 5.0.7 - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone else unable to install any apps running Cyanogen 5.0.7? I've tried restarting my phone and reinstalling 5.0.7 (as well as the Google apps)...I don't know what else to do.
Thanks,
Gerard

have you tried wiping and reinstalling?

Nah, I hate wiping (even though I know it solves lots of problems). I really don't wanna lose all my txts and stuff...I've had too many problems with the Backup app to wipe without hesitation :/

Then don't bother rooting. This is very irritating. MANY people don't wipe then flood here with issues that are solved with an easy wipe. Get titanium backup for all apps + data. Never gave me and many others a problem.

Well my apologies for wanting rooted-Android features while at the same time not wanting to delete all my information. I was simply trying to find a different solution before wiping; I think that's pretty logical. Not trying to start problems, but your reply was pretty rude.

I can't do that because I can't install any apps, even if they're off the Market.
I'll try wiping. Thanks for the replies, guys.

CM4.2.12.2 acore issues

I know I've seen this mentioned before on 4.2.8 or so, but I'm getting all the acore issues on 4.2.12.2. I am aware I'll have to wipe everything and start fresh and that's ok (yay MyBackupPro) but do I have to do the 1.6HTC thing, and then flash 4.2.12.2?
thanks for any help!

If you are just wiping you should be ok, you have to do the HTC recovery if you are doing a fresh install.
With a wipe, it should be fine.

Yay for putting the same old problem right back on your phone!
Lesson number one: If you have problems with your current set-up it only makes sense to not restore to it again.
Good luck.
Keep in mind fc's are mostly a 3rd party app issue, NOT a stable rom build.

Annoying Gmail Problem!

so yesterday my email was working just fine, i decided to flash on the desire rom just for fun. i flashed back to cyanogenmod rom and restored and now my email isn't being pushed anymore. i have to go into the box and refresh it to see my latest emails
i don't know what happened, but it's not being pushed anymore now
anyone have any idea on what i can do?
Did you make sure you have auto-sync data on? I made that mistake once.

[Q] How manytimes we can install rom in nexus one

I tried 5 different roms and i feel cyanogenmod 6 rc2 version is stable. but i am worrying if i try one more custom rom then will it break my phone?. Please tell me how many time we can install roms in the phone.
Will it create a bad sector on my phone.

Well as long as you're wiping between different ROMs you should be fine. And even if you are there won't be any permanent damage. The only way you can brick your phone is by installing a bad/old radio.
Even if there's a limited number of "flashing" the phone you won't reach it before you get a new phone.
Likely in the millions of times.
Don't worry about it.
Its the same question like "how many times can you write data on a sd card", you already got a new one when you reach that number
Flash memory has a certain number of read write times until it fails. But that number is so high that it will be years from now.
how can i know if i have a bad sector??

You have to wipe/install a new rom and copy logs to sd card from either other or advanced menu, havent used amon_ra recovery in forever
So, how do we get to the answer of how many times one can flash their phone?
That is such an interesting question. The answer must be had!

Hey, I am a total newbie but I would like to flash the nightlies as well. I usually backup all my apps and settings using Titanium Backup, do a Nandroid backup, wipe and then flash the new ROM. However, backing up all apps and settings using Titanium Backup and restoring them after flashing the nightly is quite time consuming. Even worse is arranging the application short cuts / widgets on the desktops after a fresh install.
Nandroid will allow me to go back to backed up version after I have played around with the nightly for a few hours. But then I lose all the features of the nightly once I am back to my old ROM. As I am carrying only a single phone, it becomes mandatory for me to restored the Contacts, Messages, Applications and Settings after flashing a new ROM.
It may sound stupid but is there a better and faster way of doing things without having to restore all applications/settings from the backup so that I also could try out the nightlies? How do you manage this?
For the most part, you can flash nightlies without a wipe, if you're going from CM to CM. If you see weird behavior after flashing, then go back and wipe, and if that doesn't work do a complete wipe and flash.
If you're on another ROM, then I would definately wipe...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Exactly 6.3 times. That is all. But nobody mentions it.

I strongly suggest wiping cache and dalvik-cache prior to flashing a new nightly, it prevents **** and doesn't affect your settings/files
Haven't been on CM for awhile, but if you use Launcher Pro or ADW they have Homescreen backups. Have had good luck with MyBackUpPro too.

[Q] Freeze and crash problem!!! Always!!

Whether rom&kernel i've tried (darky, tweaky, hawkish, extraordinary roms, semaphore, darky, cf root kernels) my phone always freezes anytime, anywhere. When i open a game sometimes it freezes in the loading screen, sometimes doesn't freeze. Sometimes when writing sms, sometimes killing tasks, everytime and everytime! I'm tired of this problem and it started to make me so angry! Please help if you have any suggestion.
There are two other posts in this sections that sounds like the exact same problem. Have you read them? Should be within the first 2 pages...
Edit: Ok just re-read, its similar, but still see if there are any solutions there that you haven't tried
Also are you restoring backups? If you don't restore them, does it still happen? Have you tried stock? Have you repartitioned? Have you cleared cache, dalvik cache. Factory reset after rom update? Turned lagfix off when flashing? Used odin to flash....
Need answers to these questions to help further... Always give as much detail as possible to enable us to help you in the most efficient way.

Thanks for your answer. Yes not at all but i've tried and read the other posts but they don't look like my problem but i exactly want to know what's causing this and suggestions, it makes me think if i have a hardware problem maybe, or what may be causing this and want to solve that problem forever, if it goes on i'll change my loved phone cause of this
Yes, i'm restoring backups using titanium backup, but without installing backups, it's the same, freezes, i didn't try stock and i don't wanna try i didn't repartiton, i cleared every kind of caches, factory resetted after update, turned off lagfix, didn't try odin

Well then from those answers i think its obvious what im going to suggest
Try an odin install Darkyrom 10.2RE people say always works.. and is reliable. Ive used it myself. And I suggest repartition. This is because it gives you the freshest install like it is brand new. If it happens then as well, then you need to flash stock, again with repartition via odin, for the same reason and because you need to identify the problem. If you have problem with stock then it is most likely a hardware issue.
In terms of backup, do not do batch backups as this sometimes causes conflicts, instead select each app you want and pick backup, then restore only data. Market apps you have downloaded can be logged using "app list" from the market. Use this to pick which apps you want to restore and it will take you straight to them, obviously after you download that app from the market again.
Also backup you internal sd card on you computer (drag and drop) and then restore only what is needed. Titanium backup should be kept on exsd in my opinion, and you can move the default folder there via settings.
Darky10.2RE You only need to do the odin install the second install is if you want all the apps, but again this can be configured using the darkyrom app, if you miss anything go to the last tab in the app after flashing and it will be there for you to pick out.
Things that can are unlikely to be an issue- is your imei the same? Do you have the correct csc code?

So much thanks for your answers and suggestions, but i don't want to use darkyrom i want to use s2 ported roms what should i do
Find them, under android development, its one of the pinned threads...2.3.4 roms or something. This is to identify the issue but as you wish, if you still have problems then maybe try darky then, or go to stock..

My suggestion would be to wipe data, possible flash back to stock, or just wipe data and play around with some different radio's. I've had similar issues, not as bad as yours, but different radio seemed to fix it.
I'm in in canada, east, on telus. I'm using the fascinate with galaxy i9000 rom/kernel/radio. I find the best radio's to be the KG2, KG3, and KC3.
Have you used any apps to disable permissions? like autostarts, one time I had an issue where my phone wouldn't dial any calls in my own area code. I found out it was autostarts, and a permission I had enabled.
-Maniac
Think that permissions are enabled, as far as I can see.
Problem is that I'm noob on this area, I got this phone with darky on it.
When you say to wipe data, on which data do you mean and how to do that?
how to flash? Where can I find stock rom and some tutorial?
thank you

I would start with testing some different modems. This is pretty simple, and might just fix your problem.
When I say wipe, I mean a factory reset. I'm not familier with that rom, but in the settings their should be something to do a factory reset.
A sure way would be to boot clockworkmod, select the option to do a wipe/factory reset.
Note, both of the above methods will wipe your apps/data. Perhaps your SDcard as well. So if anything is important, I would do a backup.
Perhaps you should do a nandroid backup anyways, just incase it don't fix your problem and you won't waste any more time have to reinstall everything and set it all up again.
