any one click root for dmd64 or drc83? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I just wanna ask if anyone here knows a one click root for android 1.6 dmd64 or drc83? Since flashrec fails to backup recovery image(could not run command). I just want to keep the market interface since the rc29 market is ugly or is there any other way to update a rooted rc29 1.5 to dmd6/drc83 without having to unroot? Or another thing is there any skin patch for the rc29 market? So basically I wanna have rc29 with a drc83/dmd64 market skin(interface) while using flashrec for one click rooting answers are greatly appreciated thanks!

if you have already had experience in rooting a phone, then what's stopping you on rooting this one?
if you follow the rooting guide, you will be fine. and if you follow the thread about the hero rom you want, you will be fine. there are certain things you have to do to get hero but those guides will have all that explain within their respective threads.
Yeah ur right, nothing is stopping me from rooting this one, but my question is, the other phone was the. RC33 build so I had to downgrade to RC29 to gain root, now, do I have to do the same for this one? CRB43? Or how do I gain root on this one? Thnx

in order to gain root in any of the releases you have to downgrade to RC29 regardless

Alright, that's what I needed to know, thank u so much
alright, so everything work out well, i think.
i got all done, now i just have a problem. I got the Hero ROM and when the phone starts, i get a loop in the HTC screen...... what can i do???
I had my phone looping for some reason that escapes me right now, I just installed Dude's 1.5 Cupcake and then went to SuperHero v2, it launched just fine but was a bit slow. I just got finished installing JACHero 1.8v4 and it is by far the best Hero build.
Also, on SuperHero V2 my phone took a looong time to boot up.

help with root please

hey all i have an g1 from the u.s and i live in israel
i would like to root it.. it rotted it from a guide i read and installed rc33
but now im missing apps in the market and i need an app from there to install hebrew.
what is the best way to root my phone ?
i understood that the rc33 is not good becuse i live in israel..
can someone help me ?
thanks a lot!
Well, if you have RC33, you'll need to downgrade to RC29 and then install JF1.51 (preferribly ADP 1.5)
You'll get the Market back and you will be free to install the Hebrew application you needed
The best guide I've found...
http://androidandme.com/2009/05/gui...r-rooting-your-android-g1-to-install-cupcake/
At step 4, I'd recommend using the ROM here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537204 rather than the Jesusfreke one.

Is there a new way to root?

Just go back to rc29 then upgrade to 1.5 then open up market and look for it. Lmk if it works.
so unroot again..then how do u get to 1.5?
is there a link or youtube vid on this? i have no idea how to downgrade to 1.5 from 1.6 on a G1
Just flash the nbh file and wait for the update.

Yes. <10 char>

It's all here:

If you have 1.6, you gotta do:
1.6 --> 1.5 --> RC29

Glad to hear. Let us know if anything else comes us.

Do you mean unroot?
If you want to unroot from RC29 - wait for the OTA (Over the Air) update. The OTA will remove root.
If you wanted to go back to a ROM (like Hero, because it uses 1.5) you'll need to upgrade to from RC29.
If you just want to remove root, keep the RC29 and wait for an OTA update to be pushed to your phone.
ohhh okay so i upgrade to cupcake if i want hero from rc29..and i need to root before the ota update to 1.6 is that right?

Yes. Cupcake is 1.5, which is required for Hero to run. Also, if you decide to run a Hero ROM, make sure you have the appropriate SPL and Radio.

If you root before the OTA, you will not receive an OTA. To go back to stock, don't touch the phone (in the sense that don't flash any ROMs) after your at RC29. When at RC29, you will be getting an update from T-Mobile to update (which will remove root).
sorry if im annoyying u aka lol i want to root and im at rc29 right now. i have to get to 1.5 to root right? and to get to 1.5 do i wait for an ota or manually update it myself?
okay wait im on 1.5 and i downloaded the flashrec prog like in the guide and the recovery file and downloaded the flashrec and typed in the /sdcard/recovery-ra-dream-v1.5.3.img and see nothing that says download custom recovery image. i am on 1.5 by the way.
Haha not a problem at all .
Sorry, I didn't understand what you were saying.
If you are already at RC29, and you want root, you need to first upgrade to 1.5.
Sorry bout that, you are correct

Root is very easy to get, people just use the odd methods too much.
I like the RC29 method. Flash back to RC29. If you just want 1.6, then do nothing else, eventually the OTA upgrade to 1.6 will be downloaded by your phone, and it will prompt you when it is ready. You can "force" it to by making some phone calls, and what not, so the network recognizes sooner you need to update. As well, keep data active.
Or, once on RC29 you can root really easily. Just open up the keyboard, hit enter twice, type in telnetd, hit enter. Then go download telnet from the market(you can download it before the keyboard typing stuff if you want), and you are good to go...

If you follow that guide to get the custom recovery flashed we can the help you get the new radio, the new spl, and then your new ROM! If you think you can handle it yourself, just rememb, MAKE SURE YOU FLASH THE NEWEST RADIO BEFORE YOU FLASH THE DANGER/DEATH SPL!!!!!
And if that's still too complicated for you I've heard of a "1 click" rooting app thats really simple

The 1 Click rooting app is why, IMO, most people end up in here asking how to root their phone. Not sure why, but I would say 90% of the people with issues rooting are trying the 1 Click root method.
theunlockr has a detailed "1 click" method with download links and all. Its the method i used for both my g1 and mytouch.

[Q] a little help here please

Im extremly new at this. I have the cdma hero from sprint and i have looked everywhere on the internet for a way to root and cant really understand the answers. I have a build number of 2.31.651.7 and was wondering if anybody could give me the first steps to take in order to root. rooting for dummys u can call it. i just want froyo 2.2 if anybody could help me out i would appreciate it. I just want to get froyo on it the easiest way. then i wont have to mess with it anymore untill i can get the evo next year. right?
nobody has an answer?
I used an app called universal androot to root. Not sure if it works on that build though but there are a number of guides to root on this site.
i know, ive looked around and wasnt very clear on how to root and install 2.2 using my build
well try universal androot ,the worst that can happen is it doesnt work.Search for it by name and download using your phones browser. After root use rom manager from the market and install recovery image then your ready to go.
