Hi to one and al
I hope i am allowed to post a new thread on this. I live in Ireland but have a
G1 which is from the good uld U.S.A. I did a week of reading on how to root my phone and got some great advice on this forum.
I rooted my phone last night, using the 2 part video on Youtube and i followed
every step to the letter, i think its worked because my phone still does haha, but i dont see any benefits if anything i have less.
I did the rooting of the phone and then put the U.K RC8 on to it i its the
jf 1.42 i think. Anyway, thats ok but i didnt know there was a jf cupcake 1.5 out i got the jf updater and its found the jf 1.51 cupcake UK and a jf RC9 v.1.43 UK and also an update.zip
Now i have not downloaded any of these yet, Question... Do i download and apply the proper 1.5 radio from the android site and apply that then download the 1.5 UK cupcake and apply that.
Any help would be appreciated as i dont want to **** it up now cheers

Yes update your radio. Its not a must but highly recommended otherwise you might have some issues. Also I would recommend a different rom cause JF's are to old and boring. I would suggest one of Cyanogens rom's.
thanks for reply, i dont have to downgrade the fone again do i, can you tell me which cyanogen rom i should download and do i need another compatible radio, i am a bit phased about diong this again especially after reading so many bricked fones but i do reaserch and listen so any help would be great
Jf stopped making roms so go with cyan stable 4.04
hey Gridlock hows it going.
ok forgive my ignorance i am looking for this rom and cant find it, also do i have to download a radio for that cyanogen release and apply that first,, also do i wipe the sd card before i start this
hope i havent made things more difficult,
and just one other thing when i did the root of youtube i didnt get an option to "protect my root" as i have read on some other guides.
thanks
edit found a post by nephron will have a read through that, but still need to know about the "protect my root" thing and do i wipe the sdcard?
You don't have to worry about protecting your root, nephron guide is a good way to go, you can pick up any rom and the most up to date in the dev section
I am doing good by the way

You won't have to downgrade again. You should update to the newest radio (26I) if your not already. You can do that before or after loading a new rom it doesn't matter. You can look in the dev section for cyanogen he has a stable and experimental build.
thankyou kindly gents will follow that advice
If you haven't already you need to install Cyan's recovery 1.4

Doesn't matter, flash the ROM or recovery in whatever order you want. ROMs don't require a specific, recovery. Just use the one you want to use, 1.4 has the most features.

Haha, shocking isn't it?
thanks for that
right i am ok with that, now i know to flash the radio first do i also have to flash this spl i downloaded its called danger spl (dont like the fookin sound of that!!) this nephron guide is very confusing
sorry lads but this is not happening i put the rom onto sd card home and power and its just coming up with a load of mad writing and like a fingerprint gives me the options but when i choose to install it say it cant install as it cant find the rom on sd card, says directory doesnt exist
i am getting to the stage of unrooting here as i dont want to fcuk my fone up
anyone help, and that nephron guide is just too confusing
As long as you don't plan on flashing any hero roms then you don't need dangerSPL. I don't recommend doing the hero roms or dangerSPL until you have a very good understanding of the cupcake/donut roms first.
sorry i have it, i had the file extensions hidden on my new laptop so the re naming was incorrect, sorted now thanks
Hi I just wanna ask if anyone here knows a one click root for android 1.6 dmd64 or drc83? Since flashrec fails to backup recovery image(could not run command). I just want to keep the market interface since the rc29 market is ugly or is there any other way to update a rooted rc29 1.5 to dmd6/drc83 without having to unroot? Or another thing is there any skin patch for the rc29 market? So basically I wanna have rc29 with a drc83/dmd64 market skin(interface) while using flashrec for one click rooting answers are greatly appreciated thanks!
Hi everyone.
I recently bricked a G1 via Danger SPL and bought a new one. I'm merely a developer testing my games on the G1 however I'd like to have multi-touch functionality as well as 2.2 support, but I don't want to brick it. I'm on 1.6 right now.
What is the easiest way to root and then flash to CM6? I tried searching and only found old tutorials that said different things and I don't want to screw around, I just want CM6 running asap and not another brick.
Thanks!
I'm pretty sure you don't need the danger spl to run cm6 it says danger came out before the g2 I have ran cm without the danger spl theunlockr.com has an easy way to root the phone it also walks you through how to install the rom.

You could just use the ROM bible in the G1 forum. It's really simple and I just rooted and flashed my G1 yesterday. If you need any help just pm me and I'll gladly you give any advice I know.
download universal androot from the market (or find the .apk online) and install it. It will root the phone without any trouble. Then use the terminal to flash a custom recovery.
Finally, flash the danger spl correctly this time or use firerat's mtd patch to install cm 6

Post above says I don't need Danger SPL?
What is FireRat's mtd?
Could someone link me to a direct tutorial for all of this?
It'd be awesome if I could get step-by-step on:
Flashing Clockwork Recovery
Safely Flashing CM6.
Will CM6 work without DangerSPL?
Are there other Froyo alternatives that are easier to get to?
Also, an easy way to alternate between 1.5 and 2.2 would be great. Something as simple as flashing a ZIP to get back to 1.5, then flashing a ZIP to get back to 2.2.
Im extremly new at this. I have the cdma hero from sprint and i have looked everywhere on the internet for a way to root and cant really understand the answers. I have a build number of 2.31.651.7 and was wondering if anybody could give me the first steps to take in order to root. rooting for dummys u can call it. i just want froyo 2.2 if anybody could help me out i would appreciate it. I just want to get froyo on it the easiest way. then i wont have to mess with it anymore untill i can get the evo next year. right?
nobody has an answer?
I used an app called universal androot to root. Not sure if it works on that build though but there are a number of guides to root on this site.
i know, ive looked around and wasnt very clear on how to root and install 2.2 using my build
well try universal androot ,the worst that can happen is it doesnt work.Search for it by name and download using your phones browser. After root use rom manager from the market and install recovery image then your ready to go.

After that you flash the cm6 stable version from your phones SD card and it should install cm6 froyo 2.2
I believe at least..

Hello all,
I have searched high and low on this and many other forums to just find a simple method that actually works to root my Motorola Milestone A853.
Its running the stock rom fully updated to the last update which is Froyo 2.2.1.
All I need to do is root not install custom roms or anything else. I just want the phone rooted so I can overclock it and remove the bloatware too.
Thanks for all your help in advance and I really hope somebody has a simple step by step method. I did not want to try downgrading it 2.1 and then running vulnerable or other such methods. I just want to root it and tinker a little bit.
You want Universal Androot.
Google it.
