How is battery life using the Android on the Topaz? Does it suffer from the same power drain and heating problems as the other WinMo conversions (Diamond 1, Blackstone, etc)?
just tested running android on my touch diamond 2. Battery life is definitely an issue, though not as serious as the case for android on iphone 3G

Could we use this thread to detail the real life battery benefits of using WM5 on the Blue Angel?
Supposedly WM5 is going to be the schizzznit for battery life. Lets see if that is really the case.
Well, I'm running it at the lowest backlight, and it seems that the battery lasts about 20% longer.
Hmm
Seems a little thin for an OS that is supposed to increase battery life by 50%. Of course this OS is still in beta. My guess is there are optimizations for individual hardware profiles that could change that significantly. Lets hear from others and see what improvements come in future release candidates.
Noticed no difference ...
Ran for 2hrs 17mins & now the battery level is at 60%. Only 15mins of that time is with WiFi on.
May jump back to WM2003SE soon...
I don't think that this ROM would run any longer that 2003SE. Our device still needs to keem RAM powered. The time would be increased on newer devices that would have less RAM. Read the story on buzz site.
I was not able to find anything like this yet so figured Id post. Lately my battery is misbehaving. I can fully charge it to 100% make 20 min phone call and viola Im at 40% moments later it seems im at 4% WTF could be the culprit I wonder. I was running Garmins roms and now Laurentus and the same and I remember laurentus's being exceptional on battery. Could my battery have become defective? Regardless **** HTC I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANOTHER FOR THEIR TREACHERY
I have had the same problem with some WM6.1 ROMS.
If fact today, I flashed back to 6.0.
Never had a similar problem with 6.0.
check out my general forum post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410590
it seems that 6.1 drains batteries bad. i have come to found if you use kaisertweak and enable power management, it helps quite a bit. also, there is a hyperlink in my post that has another link that one guy claims his SIM card was causing a bad drain.
your drain issue though is a bit EXTREME. take your battery out and lay it down on a flat surface like your desk and run your fingers over it and look at it. if the battery isnt flat or relatively flat, your cells may be swollen from too much charging/draining and it could be time to replace it. ATT warranty replacement wil do it for u in the first year
I am using dutty's rom 6.1 and I dont have battery problem at all. have u checked apps running in back all the time? that s might be it.
Battery might be simply used/defective.
Battery is OK. Have spares.
Also check them and read through link posted by richabi.
Agree, it could be something running in background, but
use a Task Manager to shut down programs.
Could be a simple problem I am overlooking.
However, this morning, the Kaiser I flashed back to 6.0 last
night was fine.
Still have 6.1 on Tilt so I can compare them.
What Radio are you using? And which ROM?
Certain Radios are notorious for draining the battery quickly.
I am running the NIKI Radio 1.65.24.36 and that eliminated my excessive battery drain. I am also on L26 V9.

It is in my signature, HyperDragon IIIs Radio 1.58.25.17
Now using Radio 1.71.09.01
Overnight battery drain is same as 1.27.12.17.
4%
See signature.
Will see how it goes during the day.
1.65.24.36 on Garmin v1.2 battery drain is about 2% each hour. and about 4-5% per hour when browsing internet or doing other activities.
Original att 6.0 rom with 1.2x radio battery drain is about 5% each hour, and about 15% each hour with internet browsing...
I couldn't figure out why there is such difference but it's good to compare.
My screen brightness is set to lowest setting (never really use it in the sun or outdoor when surfing the net)
Every day I play Alpine a long time,But Its battery only 1300Mah,If I have been playing,It only can use at least 7hours,why Alpine's battery life time so little?Who has got solution?
I think you should use the 1600 mAh battery (PH17B battery series) to make your battery lifes longer. I've been using it on my O2 Xda IIi.
Battery life depends on what you are doing with it of course...:
Make sure you have IR turned off.
If you are in a bad mobile coverage area that will run down the battery faster.
WiFi being on kills battery life.
There is also a normal/turbo option in power settings to change the processor speed.
Turning down the backlight brightness can help a lot as well.
I'm sure there ae other things that can conserve battery life...
Hey there, I've been using some SenseHD roms lately like eVil's NXSenseHD v1.1 and MM's SuperHybrid v1.7... and I can't help but notice the battery life to drop like a rock. Now I read some ways to prolong it is by flashing the old desire kernel from eVil's NXSense v1.26 rom. I found that while this DRASTICALLY improve's battery life, checking the battery usage it says that the screen burns most of the power in SenseHD roms, but in NXSense, the screen barely uses anything.
And also i can confirm this when screen is off, my battery lasted me a long time, but when i turn on the screen... i can literally see my battery percentage drop by the minute. anyone else experiencing these problems and any fixes?
Hi!!! I've tried lot of Android versions and the onlyone that doesen't freezes is FRX07 ( System Build ) by XDAndroid but my X1 start warming up and the battery discharges quickly.
battery usage says that the phone's standby drains the most of the battery charge.
anyone nows how to increase battery life with android?
And the the battery is even displayed as full...but with winmo I can see the real level of the battery, so it isn't a problem of the battery.
Now I've tryed to install JuiceDefender and the phone is a little less hot.
(I'm sorry for my bad English )
It seems to be a problem with all android builds, from my experience with Android, the overclocking of the processors is the culprit, (733+ MHz, from stock 528MHz) coupled with some of those ROMS being run off the memory card, switched to NAND version, and the major problem is battery calibration now, trying to figure out how to fix that,
