Hi folks,
My N1 suddenly won't vibrate.
During an incoming call, if I shake the phone it would vibrate for a second and then stops again. Obviously a hardware issue I would say. And now it won't vibrate at all. I guess it was loose and now totally dead.
The thing is I'm currently out of the US for 6 months or so. I called up Google and they required a local address. No body is at my place there.
What do you think I should do? Is there any way I can ship the phone to HTC internationally?
Cheers.
are you on a desire rom? there is an option on by default to silence ring on pickup.
i had this problem a while ago, but after resetting my phone, its back to normal.

Hello. I've had this device for awhile now and it's probably the best phone I've ever had.. except I started to have problems with regards to calls just recently. I actually rooted the device about 2 months ago and am currently using the Rombie mod v2 (JPC), if that helps. Anyway, the problem happens in the middle of a conversation, where the proximity sensor somehow disappears and the speaker mode is activated on its own (or maybe it gets in contact to my skin, I'm not sure, since the screen is supposed to remain blank). After that, the device becomes unresponsive: the touch sensitive menu and back keys don't work, and neither does the screen itself..but the hard key home button works and I could still hear the other caller via loudspeaker. I force a reset and everything goes back to normal (I mean this call issue doesn't happen all the time). I don't have any screen protector to affect the performance of the sensor. Anyone can help me out with this? Thanks!
Hi guys
I have noticed something weird. My phone won't ring when the screen is locked, in fact, it doesn't show the incoming call screen or anything. Eventually, I am told that "the cell phone I am trying to ring is either turned of or outside the cell phone network" by a pre-recorded message. I am running 2.1 black Quarx.
Its very strange, if the phone is unlocked and I ring it then it rings and everything is fine. If I ring it while its locked, then unlock it, then sometimes after 10 seconds it might ring eventually.
Has anybody got any idea about what is going on?
Actually, its a little more complicated as I have found out while been playing around a bit today. If I leave it for say more than 10 minutes, it won't ring. If I leave it alone for 10 minutes, then ring and let the phone ring for a minute my cell won't ring. If I hit the home button which wakes the screen up, the phone will - after a 2 or 3 seconds delay - show the incoming call screen and start ringing! It doesn't seem to matter if its plugged in or not, in fact, I can run "adb catlog" while ringing! Nothing in the logs seem to hiont at what the issue is.
I used to get something similar to what you are experiencing but somehow along the way the problems just stopped. I think its because I've flashed my phone so many times. Just reflash your phone and see if that helps. If it doesn't then flash to a different 2.1 version

It is probably an issue with my cell phone network, rather than my phone! Which is good and bad, because it means I have to wait for those dicks to fix their stuff - I can't fix it myself.
Hi, I've been having this rare and random problem with my Captivate. It seems like once or twice a month, when my phone is in stand by and I hit the power button to wake it up, the screen stays off. I can mimic swiping the screen and the soft keys will light up and the phone will vibrate. Taking the battery out does not help. The phone will boot up and I can hear the att and samsung video but the screen is still black.
When this happens, it will sometimes randomly come back on after about an hour or two, sometimes more. I've searched but haven't found that magic trick yet. Anyone else have this problem and a possible solution? Any help would be awesome, thanks!
Sounds like a hardware problem. Still under warranty?
Yeah, it's very annoying. I can hear texts going off with seemingly no way to read them. I've had it more than a year so I think the warranty is out. I do have insurance on it though.
EDIT: Ok, my problem is solved for now. I took the sim card out and with it out turned the phone on (same problem), but after turning the phone off and putting the sim card back in, I now have the screen back. I'm gonna see if I can get this phone replaced.

I use my HTC One for calling most of the time and for more than a month now I haven't encountered this situation as of yet. Maybe try reflashing the ROM instead of doing a wipe. There are a couple of RUUs in this forum you can download if you're not rooted/unlocked.
I am having the same problem, anyone got any solutions??

Can this be produced reliably? If it can, go to your dealer and show it to them

Hi guys - I too had this problem and even replaced my first handset to find i was still having the problem. The answer is annoyingly simple and that is you are all no doubt using your phone in your left hand (as I do) and the sensor which deacrivates the screen is in the top left of the front of the phone.. no problem when using ur right hand to call as the sensor is flat to your ear but in the other, if the phone is not totally planted.. the sensor sometimes hangs in the open or is away from your head far enough to activate the screen and you are accessing the drop down menu with your ear! Design flaw in my opinion but there are 2 things you can do 1) the sound comes out of the entire length of the speaker so get used to putting your ear as close to the sensor as poss 2) once dialled or answered call, hit the screen lock button manually to deactivate the screen for the duration of the call. Hope this helps.

I can confirm this. I also use my left hand / left ear for calls and my calls often die in the middle of the call because my ear has enabled Airplane mode. Sometime it happens during important calls and is absolutely infuriating and stressful. What's more, often people try to call you back but can't because it takes about 10 seconds for the phone to turn wireless back on and register with the network.
This is really poor form and rather an embarrassing oversight for HTC. I have just switched from a Samsung Galaxy S4 and this is my first HTC and even though its clearly a great phone - failing on actual phone part of a smartphone is inexcusable. If anyone comes up with a solution in the meantime, please post it here. Thanks
Turn the screen off manually when it's too dark for the proximity sensor to measure proximity.
I'm having quite a few issues with my ROM'd Z phone using Paranoid. I've recently updated to the latest version as soon as I was alerted.
1. The lock screen freezes, or rather becomes limited in responsiveness. I use the swipe up to unlock. When I swipe up, the clock/notifications just bounces and eventually the screen goes dark, then off. Sometimes I can reset using the power menu, but often the screen is totally unresponsive so I have to do a hard reset. On occasion I have to reset multiple times consecutively because it locks up immediately after boot... until its finally usable again. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7OGcalUJSgHblZob2Q2eHNkLU0
2. The phone gets hot in my pocket. When I notice this, often it has unlocked, turned on GPS, turned on the LED, taken photos and opened apps, or a combination of things. Sometimes even made a phone call, either to a contact or a recent from the log.
3. Recently I noticed it randomly ghost selecting right in front of me. I was unable to unlock and had to hard reset the phone.https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7OGcalUJSgHVmJhQ0FOUDdLQkE
4. I am not getting SMS alerts from Optus 321 telling me I have messages from when the phone was off, or out of service range. Often I won't know till I randomly check days later, or when I miss a call (while on another call or in service range) and they leave a message.
5. Sound drops in and out from the other party. They can always hear me. Randomly, on some calls. I can have 3 good conversations, then the next I have to call back multiple times before I get enough up time.
5a. When I'm making a call, I may not even hear the outgoing ringing tone.
6. On any new call, the the volume on my Bluetooth headset is usually down about half way. I click the Vol+ and it immediately jumps to full, the volume bar already being at full.
7. When it rings, it often takes a second or more (after the ring tone has started) for the screen to turn on.
On suggestion by a friend, I disabled a lot of notifications, but the lock screen still won't unlock even when the only thing showing is the clock.
I guess there is problems with the the phone hardware, the ROM or incompatibilities with it and an APP.
Is there some diagnostics, or an app that I can run that will log what is going on and I can have someone look at those logs for me?
You should ask in Paranoid Support Thread

Thankyou. I could not find it.
edit: That thread is closed. There is a link at the end for a 'new home', but that thread is under Xperia ZL. Is the ZL considered the same phone?
I'm really sorry.
i gave you a wrong link. Shame on me.
