My best guess based on the Information I don't have is you are on PRI 1.70_003 which doesn't support USB Internet sharing unless you pay for it through Sprint.

USB tethering problem

I was able to do it once but never again after that.. I've been editing my APNs, not sure if that's the cause or not. My MMS works and my internet connection works on my phone... so..?
Please see my logcat. If someone can please help me... I'm lost.

Editing your APN does nothing with USB tethering because the APN is your list of providers your phone will connect to. What kernel ROM and kernel are you using?
Sent from my Hero that never dies! ;D
and this has absolutely nothing to do with development

ROM is LiquidSense 2.1.1 Stable (Odex)

I thought it would have to do with development as I was thinking it maybe a driver issue or something else. I don't think it's something very user-friendly. I think adb-ing into the system to edit and/or modify a config file, etc. would be needed and hoped someone here would recognize this.
thats why liquid roms always had tether issues ans once again this is in the wrong section!

[Q] Connection Setup

So I am on Simple Mobile on an unlocked Tmobile HD7. The problem is that everytime I run the HTC Connection Setup the phone detects Tmobile as the default conncection (which is because Simple Mobile does use Tmobile networks)
however when I manually select Simple Mobile from the provider list. MMS/Picture Message seems to work fine. Of course given the fact that Data Connection is active and we don't have much APN settings for MMS on Windows Phone Mango (yet).
So I was wondering if instead of using the HTC Connection Setup if I use some other OEM connection setup app like that of Nokia or Samsung using the xap marketplace changer,
would it still work ??? I don't want to run HTC Connection Setup again and again for it might relock my deepshining custom ROM.
Please answer.
why not just run CS once and uninstall?

hmm, perhaps i misunderstood you...
what is the issue that you are attempting to solve?
you can only use HTC Connection Setup.
the other OEM versions of CS cannot be used on HTC devices.

The problem is that even after running HTC Connection Setup.....the MMS works fine for the next few tries...but then it stops working itself...as if the connection has been reset back to Tmobile instead of Simple Mobile....so I have to run HTC Connection setup everytime...sometimes it solves the prob...some times it doesn't....so I was thinking if there was another app to write the data settings....
However I followed you and uninstalled HTC Connection setup...after installing the carrier settings...lets see if it solves the problem..in the meantime if you think this is related to something else..then let me know.

if that doesn't solve the problem, send a PROVXML file to your device with the carrier settings.

Broadcom would have to release an updated firmware for the bcm4329. It's not exactly something someone can port.

Don't really think this should be in the development section, but Rogers is GSM right? Any version besides the sprint version should work on your phone. You might have to do some APN editing though to get a data connection.

sorry for the late reply, but how would I do "APN editing" ?
If you're using a Sense based ROM; settings->mobile data->access point names
If you're using a GE or AOSP ROM; settings->more->mobile networks-> access point names

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Hotspot not working with 6.0

Upgraded to 6.0 with stock base and semi-stock kernel with root to avoid the triangle. Bluetooth will not play, it does connect, but no sound. For Wi-Fi hotspot, I'm on Straight Talk, and it is asking me to contact AT&T to authorize service.
Does anyone know if this is this a kernel or/and 6.0 base issue?
Used Base, Bootloader, and Radio from here

Straight Talk, as long as the CC payment clears, they don't care what you do, lol... I was thinking it was the kernel too. When I get home I will check out Despair. How is your BT?

Google sees your Straight Talk as AT&T so without modifying settings.db with "tether_dun_required" =0 tethering will not work.

I think it is now in build.prop file: net.tethering.noprovisioning=true. ?

That's what I've been told needs to be done but I haven't had any luck with it
does changing the kernel require root, or just unlocked bootloader? I tried rooting so I could update the build.prop file, but it soft bricked my phone after i rebooted phone and i needed to reflash stock (used no wipe option). So phone is working but no hotspot and no root (scared to try again after the last time!)

Do i need to be rooted to try a different kernel? I am willing to try the one you are using if it gives me back tethering. I dont use it much, and its my data to use, i dont want my carrier preventing me from using it! I have Cricket, i tried calling them to find out if the feature can be added and they said since its a bring your own device that it can't. it worked before i got the 6.0 update! WHY YOU DO THIS GOOGLE!
